It's on the audio page, I did a basic walk through the program hopefully
enough to give you the feel for what it is and what it does.

It examines your installed drivers and seems like it also checks for updated
drivers as well. I have only had the program for a week so far so I can't be
sure. Never the less that is my impression.

It's worth the price just for the fact it saves your drivers out so you
don't need to hunt them down during a reload.

Re: [JAWS-Users] driver magician

2012-03-20 Thread inthane
yes, a wonderful application. you can update, save, package, and restore
your systems drivers with ease!

an additional note, if you have a little luck, the folks who make this
application usually give there newest version to a place called

www.giveawayoftheday.com

this means you can get a paid for version for free

a couple other useful notes on this app, is that it will package the saved
drivers several ways, including a self installing .exe file so you don't
need there program to reinstall the drivers.

reload the comp run the .exe file and your good to go!

another useful one that gets GAOTD'd each version is called Almeza MultiSet
which will if you have your original windows OS disk/files or a restore
disk, will help you build a set of disks that will reload everything you
would want (which can include jaws) in one shot, I haven't tried it yet but
you could probably include the drivers file as one of the installs, grins

and yes a tutorial would be good, I have the app, have used it minimally,
have the reinstall .exe tucked on my backup drives but don't know everything
about it so the more help the better!

take care and HTH everyone,

I found this cool little deal last Friday and the free version works very
nicely. I am going to purchase it for a couple of the other features it
offers at $29.95. What this peace of goods does is extract all of the
drivers from a system so you can save them in a safe place. It makes a
distinction between Microsoft and drivers from third party developers. It
knows which drivers get installed during a normal reload so it gives you
the option to save all drivers or just those that windows does not contain
internally.

I tried this on a test system I have here and all drivers came out to
around 88 but the non Microsoft drivers only numbered 7 which I was able
to install without too much stress using the device manager.

So for anybody who has ever fought with systems trying to obtain drivers
after doing a reload this is a deal for you. I ran my auto install disk
with a USB sound card. Popped in a CD of NADA set to auto run installed a
few drivers and then JAWS was ready to lock and load. Total time maybe
some where between two or three hours which includes the Windows install.

I hope somebody out there will benefit from this information. If the
spirit moves me there might be an audio tutorial in there some where. Just
do a search for the program and you'll find it in a matter of a few
seconds.
