Re: [JAWS-Users] question about tv listings guide

2009-01-29 Thread Brian Lee

Hello amber,

AOL has a TV listings site that I use all the time. When you go to the site
for the first time you will need to give your zip code on the initial page
and such things as provider information and service type on subsequent
pages. When you are finished entering the information you can save the
settings. You can then save the page that shows your listings as a
favorite. The site shows channels in order and each one in a separate list.
If you are viewing channel 6 information and you want to move to channel 11,
then you can press the letter L five times to move to the list with your
information. You can also use the find command and search for the call
sign. Links are used for show titles, so if you press enter on a show title
link, the information for the show will be displayed right under the list
for the channel you are viewing. I think that about three hours are shown
at a time, but you can easily move to a combo box to pick what ever day and
time you want and then use the "view" link just below the combo boxes. Once
you have saved the site as a favorite you can always go directly to the page
that applies to your location, provider and type of service. Here is a link
that should take you to a page to start the process:

Take care.

Re: [JAWS-Users] question about tv listings guide

2009-01-30 Thread Donald Marang

Hi Amber,

I found the recent changes to Zap2It.com unbearable. I have been searching
around for a new TV listings as well. I really like TitanTV.com at:

http://www.titantv.com/ttv/Grid/grid.aspx

It is very customizable and presents the listings grid within a true HTML
table! This allows you to quickly move through the grid with table
navigation keys. As long as you do not mind holding down the Alt + Control
or the Windows key, you can efficiently move from show to the next show or
through the channels with the arrow keys! I now set the grid to show the
full 6 hours and do not have any confusion about a program's start time. It
also lets you set the font, font size (up to 20 point), and what information
you want in the grid. You will need to set up a free account, and provide
your zip code and provider. It will use cookies to provide your
personalized grid each time you return. I create a favorite of this site
and place a copy of this favorite on my desktop with a hotkey set to make it
easy to see what's on TV.

The site is oriented to controlling just about any PC Tuner card or adapter
to view or record the show on your computer. It looks so easy and
accessible, it makes me want to get a TV Tuner USB adapter!

On another note, I understand that Yahoo and possibly AOL include the DVS
designation in their grids to indicate shows that have Described Video
Service available on the TV's SAP sub channel. I am not sure how this will
work next month after the switch to digital, since SAP is analog. I have
Direct TV and it sounds like this service for the blind and visually
impaired is only available on the more advanced HD / DVR receivers! How
ironic! Or possibly moronic!
