Re: [JAWS-Users] regarding not finding names in contacts

2013-07-04 Thread Brian Lee
Hello Dave,

I didn't mention anything about a folder with the word suggestions in it in
my message. You simply asked where the extra names were coming from and I
explained that in Outlook 2003 the nickname cache is contained in a NK2 file.
The autocomplete can be stopped from suggesting names to you, and I mentioned
changing a setting in your advanced Email options to make that happen. I don't
have Outlook 2003 but if I remember correctly the checkbox to change is
accessed by going into the tools menu, options, and then finding the page tab
for mail options. It is either a checkbox in that page tab or you might have a
button for advanced mail options, I really don't remember. I didn't mention
anything about renaming a file. I made mention of getting a NK2 editor program
to get rid of individual entries in the NK2 file but the only time a person
should need to rename the file is if it didn't match the current profile name.

Take care.

Thanks, but I can find no folder called Suggested anything in Outlook 2003
I'll try renaming the file you mentioned and see what happens.

Hello Dave, In Outlook 2003 the nickname cache used by Outlook for
autocomplete is in a file with an NK2 extention. The file is the Outlook
profile name withthe NK2 extention. The file for Windows 7 can be accessed by
typing %appdata%\microsoft\outlook A person can delete everything in the
nickname cache by deleting the NK2 file. However I think a NK2 editor is
necessary to delete individual entries. To stop autocomplete suggestions
without deleting the file you can go to your advanced Email options and
deselect the option for suggesting names. There are a couple editing programs
for NK2 files but I have not ever used one. nk2edit and Debunk2 are a couple
of them. Take care. Brian Lee brianlleeàemail.com Sent from my iPhone

Judy, when I am in my inbox and want to find out the names in my contacts, I
hit control y and then hit s and go to suggested contacts. All my contacts
are in that.

Hope this is what you are looking for.

Good luck.
