Hi Londa:
Just download the media tool to your computer.
Press enter on the tool.
wait until you here what do you want to do on this computer.
update this computer is already highlighted, tab to the next button and
press enter.
you will get a message saying, downloading windows 10, you can keep using
your computer.
When it is downloaded, follow the steps it gives you.
You do not fool with any mounting or any thing like that.
just install after following the different screens.

Hi Jim,
It seems like you are really enjoying the upgrade. The more I'm reading, the
more impatient I'm getting. When you used the media creation tool, did you
have to put it on an empty drive? I don't have any of those laying around.
Also, how did you get into the file you downloaded? I've heard that iso
files have to be mounted. It sounds like it wasn't that difficult for you,
so I'd like to know how you got it working. I may very well wish to follow
your steps. Thanks.

Re: [JAWS-Users] successfully upgraded to windows 10

2015-08-04 Thread Michael Boyd

Hi Jim,

What did you do when you had to select between a Typical setup and a Custom
setup? I installed Windows 10 just as you did, but when the actual
installation started, I lost JAWS for speech, and could not get Narator to
start. Several hours past before I could complete the installation. I
finally had someone with sight to read my screen for me, and it was obvious
what I needed to do, and the remainder of the installation only took a few
minutes from that point. Once it did finish, JAWS restarted and prompted for
my sign in information. So far, I am liking Windows 10, but I did have that
one little hiccup which required some sighted assistance to get through.

Rose,

Jim has updated, I have updated, and now I believe Allen has updated, and we
did not lose any of our programs, files, or settings. Everything remained
just as it was before the update. The only thing that did have to be done,
was to set Internet Explorer back as your default browser. It is said that
The Edge is not quite accessible yet, but I did not bother trying it. I have
been able to use Cortana to perform some tasks for me however, such as

True or not true that you already have had to reserve Windows 10 in
order to use the media tool? I did not reserve. Even though I did not
reserve Windows 10, can I still just get on that Website and download
the media tool? Can I install Windows 10 with that tool right now if I
wanted even though I did not reserve? Also, I have the same question

I have
been able to use Cortana to perform some tasks for me however, such as
asking her to open programs for me and things like that.

Hi, jaws users:

Important: totally uninstall jaws and reinstall it after you update to
windows 10.

I tried just repairing jaws 16, but I could not access the start button.
called Microsoft support, they told me to uninstall and reinstall jaws, and
they were right.

everything is working now except for cortana.
I used the media tool from Microsoft, you must have reserved windows 10 to

I personally give Microsoft a A+ for windows 10.
All my files, folders, and settings were transferred without any problems.
So far all my programs work.
the first time I used the Microsoft tool, it took about 2 hours to download
windows 10, but five minutes into the setup it failed.
I immediately did the download again, took about 20 minutes, and upgraded my
windows 7, 64 bit to windows 10 home, with no issues.
Again, after uninstalling and reinstalling jaws, I had no issues on windows
10.

If you still have the Get Windows 10 icon in your system tray, then you
should go ahead and register. Some people were saying that it is too late,
but I just registered 2 days ago, and used the media tool that night to

Hi all. I feel the same way as Londa. The more good news I hear, I
will up grade soon. I am a little confused on the media tool. Is it
True or not true that you already have had to reserve Windows 10 in
order to use the media tool? I did not reserve. Even though I did not
reserve Windows 10, can I still just get on that Website and download
the media tool? Can I install Windows 10 with that tool right now if I
wanted even though I did not reserve? Also, I have the same question
as Londa. Do you have to save that media tool on a flash drive, I have
them, so that would not be a problem. Thank you so very much for all
the good news so far If you please let me know about what I asked.
Take care.

Just download the media tool to your computer.
Press enter on the tool.
wait until you here what do you want to do on this computer.
update this computer is already highlighted, tab to the next button and
press enter.
you will get a message saying, downloading windows 10, you can keep using

When it is downloaded, follow the steps it gives you.
You do not fool with any mounting or any thing like that.
just install after following the different screens.

I used the media tool from Microsoft, you must have reserved windows 10 to
use this tool successfully.

10.
Good luck to everyone...
drink plenty of coffee...ahah

Re: [JAWS-Users] successfully upgraded to windows 10

2015-08-03 Thread jim

You obviously did not read all of my email.
I only had to remove and reinstall jaws 16.
All, I repeat all, my programs and settings carried over.
Please quit complaining, if you wish not to update your computer, that is
your business.

do not discourage others.
windows 10 works better than 7, 8, and 8.1 combined...
I can use every program so far on my computer.

reinstall many programs.
