[JAWS-Users] wordpress

2012-06-19 Thread Lenny McHugh
Is wordpress jaws friendly?
The local non profit theater frequently updates events. The process that they
do is to make the changes in a word document then copy to a notepad to remove
some of the formatting then to wordpress to upload to the server. I thought
about volunteering to do it for them. I am pretty sure that the word and
notepad would be no problem just worrying about the final step. I will be using
jaws 13, win 7 hp.
Thanks

[JAWS-Users] WordPress problem

2016-10-16 Thread Adrian Spratt
I hope there are people on this list who use WordPress. I'm trying to link a
PDF file to an item on one of my pages.

I've succeeded in uploading the PDF file to the WordPress library. It may or
may not be relevant that I also permanently deleted the PDF file I previously
had associated with the item. However, none of the online instructions I've
found enable me to get the PDF file to associate with the desired text.
For example, one online site tells you to keep focus at the text while clicking
the "add media" button. Well, with JAWS, you can only do one, not both. Another
website has a post from a screenreader (which one not specified) user who says
to press alt-mon the insert point while in the item's edit field, but when I
press alt-m, nothing happens.

Has anyone encountered and solved this problem?

Go to your library in your WordPress admin dashboard. Find the post you want to
link to, and press return on it. It will give you the URL for the post which
will include WP-content. Copy this URL and then highlight the text you want to
make clickable. Press control plus K, and paste the URL there. Let me know if
you need more clarification

.com substantially restrict your abilities with your blog, for example to the
best of my knowledge you can only install certain themes and plugins… Where as
.org gives you the ability to control all aspects of your site and do whatever
you please with it. On the flipside of this however, the .com doesn't require
you to worry about security as much as having full control on the .org Side of
things. This podcast I recorded it last year might be worth you listening to:

[JAWS-Users] wordpress testers needed

2013-10-29 Thread Michael Babcock
So very sorry for the cross posting, however, I need the help of those
having problems with blogging.

I am and have been for the site:

http://empoweringtheblind.com/

been creating a simplified version of the WordPress dashboard and setup.
Right now going to the above link directs you to our Facebook page (you can
become a fan if you want), however, I need up to twenty people to contact me
by the end of the week that have:

1. Tried blogging with WordPress in the past and found it to be
difficult

2. Want something simple that you can publish your audio, text, image,
and video posts on, and get them published to the world

3. Are willing to test and report to me with your findings before I
role out publically, likely at the end of December

4. Can follow directions, and understand that content will likely be
lost threw out this testing phase, so understand this now

5. Are excited to see creative possibilities for WordPress and what it
can do.

If you want to be part of this project, then email

empoweringthebl...@icloud.com

with

"the WordPress project"

In the subject.

And the answer to these questions:

1. A brief paragraph describing who you are and what you do

2. Do you currently have a blog?

3. What would you like to post mostly, (check one but you will be able
to post all, check one by putting an "X" by the letter):

A: Text

B. Audio

C. Video

D. Images

4. Do you have your own domain you could use for testing? If so what
is it, if not, would you be willing to buy one (at most USD $10 a year)

5. Do you have a smart phone? If so what kind?

6. Would you be willing to install apps onto your smartphone for
testing?

7. What OS do you use?

thanks

michael

[JAWS-Users] Wordpress version 2.5

2010-02-19 Thread The Bates Family
Hi listers:

I've recently started learning about how to blog. I'm taking an Internet course
using Wordpress. I started out using Wordpress 2.9 but found out from the
instructor that version 2.5 is much easier to use with adaptive equipment. She
let me try out a modified version of 2.5 on her site and it is easier to
navigate with JAWS.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this version? I checked out
wordpress.org, but all they offer is the latest version. Why would anyone make
a newer version less adaptable? Anyway, if anyone knows where I can find, or
can get me a copy of version 2.5 let me know off list. Take care, Barbara

[JAWS-Users] WordPress and JAWS query

2017-08-18 Thread Adrian Spratt
I wonder if anyone currently on the list works with WordPress. I'm trying to
insert a link into existing text on one of my WordPress pages. I can add the
link in http form, but I can't embed it in the text. I used to be able to do
it, but either I've forgotten the method or it's changed.
Earlier this year, a lister who no longer seems active, suggested using
control-k, as I would in MS Word, but it isn't working.
Any ideas?

Have you tried highlighting the text you want to appear as a link? Then
shift tabbing back to the area with the link button? Hit enter or on that
link button. Or maybe once you've highlighted the text (maybe with the shift

Re: [JAWS-Users] WordPress and JAWS query

2017-08-19 Thread Adrian Spratt
Hi, Andre. Thanks for responding to my query. I solved the problem just a few
minutes ago, but in a way I thought shouldn't work. All the recommended
WordPress methods for embedding a link in text failed, including the couple
that you suggest. I have no idea why, and I hope one day to find out.
Meanwhile, on a whim, I wrote the text in an MS Word file and embedded the link
there, then copied the result into my WordPress text. To my surprise, the link
was recognized, stayed embedded, and (as I've since confirmed) works.

It seems WordPress just got a little easier.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] WordPress and JAWS query

I wonder if anyone currently on the list works with WordPress. I'm trying to
insert a link into existing text on one of my WordPress pages. I can add the
link in http form, but I can't embed it in the text. I used to be able to do
it, but either I've forgotten the method or it's changed.
Earlier this year, a lister who no longer seems active, suggested using
control-k, as I would in MS Word, but it isn't working.
Any ideas?
