I believe Freedom Scientific has been trying to improve their image and
their consumer relations. As such I would send an email highter up the
ladder. This is the messageing that Freedom Scientific have been trying hard to
correct and I thinka note to Eric would be appropriate.

As a follow up, I was on the phone with FS escalation tech support on
Friday and was able to reproduce the same issue I was having with the
number of unread messages not being spoken by Jaws after a while. We
tried everything from resetting Outlook to its defaults and repairing
JFW. I even got visual confirmation from my wife that the number of
unread messages was still appearing on the screen. Nothing worked. The
only work around that could be used was making use of the control+y
command. In any event, while they took note of the problem, they
mentioned that if it was only being experienced by only a handful of
folks, then iti may not get the priority to be addressed right away.
Especially if they couldn't reproduce it on their end.
I would ask (recommended by FS) that others who are also dealing with
this problem also contact them to see if it's a larger issue than just
something that's happening on one or two machines. The incident number
I was provided with was 228648 Earlier today I tried a system restore
to a time before the update and lo-and-behold, it worked. Jaws is and
has been announcing the number of unread emails in folders without
having to use the ctl+y command which I found to be an unnecessary
step.
I think for now, I'll leave well enough alone and stick to the earlier
version of Jaws 15 since this particular bug is rather big in my case.
Hopefully others can provide FS with feedback if they come across it
so that it can be addressed in the future.
The specs on my set up if anyone wants to compare are JFW 15 Pro,
Outlook 2010, Windows 7 Premium 64 bit.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Bug with latest JFW 15 with Outlook folders

2013-12-30 Thread Cristóbal
It really is a major productivity killer and inconvenience for those of us
whose business is email driven.
As I mentioned it only started showing up for me after doing the most recent
JFW 15 upgrade. I even tried going back to JFW 14 and did a system restore
to before the JFW 15 upgrade and no dice. Weird since I don't merge versions
of Jaws...
Anyway, the one sort of work around I was provided with since nothing else
worked was to invoke the go to folder command (control+Y). This does indeed
work as the number of unread messages are announced by Jaws in this window,
but it's not exactlya perfect solution. Especially since the folder
structure is not recreated in this window. Most importantly, the favorites
section of the treeview where at least in my case I have all the various
inbox folders to all my email placed does not appear.
Just make FS aware of this issue and hopefully the more folks who let them
know the bigger priority they'll make it to be fixed in whatever future
update they put out.

Hello list,

I downloaded the latest JFW release from yesterday and am noticing a bug
that for me is significant and was curious to know whether others are
experiencing it as well.

In my Outlook 2010, I have six separate inboxes listed in my Favorites
treeview section. This enabled me to have quick and easy access to each
email inbox with minimal arrowing.

Previously Jaws would announce Inbox and if there were any unread
messages, the number of unread emails in that particular inbox as well. Now,
since updating, Jaws only announces this unread information for the first
few moments after launching Outlook, but soon after, JFW does not announce
any unread messages even if there are any in that particular folder.

These emails are a mixture of personal and business. My mailing list email
is always getting emails all day. Whereas other more important accounts may
receive

Them more speratically. I now have to go from

so that it can be addressed in the future.
The specs on my set up if anyone wants to compare are JFW 15 Pro,
Outlook 2010, Windows 7 Premium 64 bit.

When or if that will happen, who knows.
It's too bad since a lot of the fixes in the latest update addressed

Hello list,

it as well.

In my Outlook 2010, I have six separate inboxes listed in my Favorites treeview
section. This enabled me to have quick and easy access to each email inbox
with minimal arrowing.

Previously Jaws would announce Inbox and if there were any unread messages,
the number of unread emails in that particular inbox as well. Now, since
updating, Jaws only announces this unread information for the first few moments
after launching Outlook, but soon after, JFW does not announce any unread
messages even if there are any in that particular folder.

These emails are a mixture of personal and business. My mailing list email is
always getting emails all day. Whereas other more important accounts may receive

Them more speratically. I now have to go from inbox to inbox to check to see if
there are any emails be ith when I get a chime notification of a new message or
if I happen to step away from my computer or am doing something else that
takes my focus away from the pc.

Are others in fact noticing this issue as well? I hadn't changed any settings
in my Outlook or Jaws from the prior version of JFW 15 that I was running
yesterday to today when I installed the update.

Just my luck... Outlook's crashing on me when I switch from one inbox to
another (imap) too. I experienced this before on a couple of the beta
releases, but thankfully not after the final release. The update
installation seemed to have gone through fine with no problems. Who knows,
maybe it was just a buggy update. If I can't figure it out, then I may just

Hi.

Try to see,, if this works: ctrl+j
This command should automatically search for folders containing unread
messages, and move your focus there to.

I am not using Outlook myself, but other kind of Microsoft's e-mail
client's, and sometimes there are added a shift to the keyboard comands for
Outlook, which not is necesary in the other, but hopefully ctrl+j is ok.

Are others in fact noticing this issue as well? I hadn’t changed any

Previously Jaws would announce “Inbox” and if there were any unread
messages, the number of unread emails in that particular inbox as well. Now,
since updating, Jaws only announces this unread information for the first
few moments after launching Outlook, but soon after, JFW does not announce
any unread messages even if there are any in that particular folder.

These emails are a mixture of personal and business. My mailing list email
is always getting emails all day. Whereas other more important accounts may
receive

Them more speratically. I now have to go from inbox to inbox to check to see
if there are any emails be ith when I get a chime notification of a new
message or if I happen to step away from my computer or am doing something
else that takes my focus away from the pc.

Are others in fact noticing this issue as well? I hadn’t changed any
settings in my Outlook or Jaws from the prior version of JFW 15 that I was

Yes, whenever I open Outlook after exiting, then the unread messages count
does show up as before, but but it always goes away after a bit.
I already tried unloading jaws without removing shared components and
reinstalling it, but that didn't change anything. I guess I'll have to try
removing everything and doing a fresh install. I may also give FS a call
tomorrow about this too. Work is email driven so this is becoming rather
inconvenient.

Sporadically, but not consistently. I will watch for this as it occasionally
happened before update too. Usually if I close Outlook and relaunch it it
seems to fix the issue

more people who let them know about this, the better.

If I can't figure it out, then I may just
uninstall and reinstall JFW 15 again. Oh joy.
