Wow, Mike, that is really weird.

If another solution emerges, aside from re-booting the computer, I'd love to
hear it.

I have inadvertently activated the calculator on a Dell laptop a number of
times, and know how easy that is to do.

I guess I've been lucky that the alt f4 command has worked for me at least
so far.

Control-alt-delete still works, but in a way that's more complicated than I
remember since I last opened the tasks list. Here's a link to an explanation
and instructions. Note that this is for Windows 7:

The CTRL alt delete isn't that the old taskmanager command. Let me see what
it does here.
Haha, took me to the lock screen, thank goodness I remembered my password.
If you are talking about the task manager, then it's CTRL shift escape and
locate the processes tab and after locating calculator, tab to end task.
However, if you are not, then just pay me no mind and I'll go back under my

Mike, a few suggestions:

When I've encountered a failure of alt-F4 to close a program, sometimes
alt-tabbing out of that window and bringing up the windows list with JAWS
key+F10 gets me back to that window. I press enter, and then suddenly alt-F4
works again. If not, an alt-spacebar plus x (window maximization) and then
JAWS key+escape (refresh) between the Windows list and the windows close
command might work. Unfortunately, not always.

Another thought: You can bring up the list of running apps with
control-alt-delete. Arrow down (in this case) to calculator, then tab over
to "close" or the equivalent. (I tried testing this while writing this post,
and almost lost the message as a result, so I can't conveniently confirm the
exact wording.)

Hi Ann and list.

This is an answer to an extremely old email message (I'm sort of working in
reverse). Anyway, this is what was sent to me about how to get the messages
you have sent out to show up if you are on Gmail and using Outlook Express.
It worked for me. Here's how to do it. HTH.

Change your username in your Outlook Express account or whatever program you
are using as follows:
recent:usern...@gmail.com

The next time you download mail, you will download all mail for the last
thirty days. After that one time, you will only download new mail but mail
you sent to lists will be downloaded by your e-mail program.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator

2009-06-29 Thread Darrin Porter
Ann,

The formula for simply doing this on a calculator is pretty complex. Haven't
used it in years and don't remember it. But Microsoft Excel has simple
functions to do this. The first is:

PMT(rate, number of payments, present value, future value).

Rate is the interest rate per period (not APR). In your example, it is 0.5% or
0.005.

Number of payments would be, in your example, 360, assuming monthly payments
for 30 years.

Present value is the amount of the loan, e.g., $100,000.

Future value, in this case, will be $0, since the loan will be payed off then.

So the formula should look like this:

PMT(0.005,360,10,0)

The result is $599.55, which will be your monthly mortgage payment.

As for your other question, The Excel function is:

PV(rate,number of payments, payment,future value,type)

The first two function arguments are the same as above. payment, of course,
is your desired monthly payment and type is optional and doesn't apply to
what you are doing. The formula for your example should look like this:

PV(0.005,360,1000,0)

The result is: $166,791.61, which is the amount of money you can borrow for a
period of 30 years at 6.0% interest that will result in a monthly payment of
exactly $1,000.00

Hope this has been helpful.

Hi Darren,

I don't believe you're correct in that.

I believe the amount she would be able to get is around the 96000 to 9
dollar amount, based on my experience with real estate sales.

Keep in mind that this is assuming that her income, or, at least, the 1000
is only 33% of her net monthly income, or household income, otherwise no
normal bank will approve you.

One option you could go for is to check online with one of the major
commercial banks, as they will usually have a mortgage calculator on their
sites that are usually very Jaws friendly.

One place you might also try is HUD's website, as I believe they have a
mortgage calculator on their site, and it's accessible.

Another thing you may want to look for is HUD's programs for people with
disabilities, as they have tonnes of discounts and grants for people with
disabilities that you can apply for, and this will affect the amount of
mortgage you will pay every month, and lower the amount you will borrow
also.

Just something to look at to ease your burden.

Hi Darin and all,
I am not looking to buy real estate but am looking for a way to calculate

In college I knew these formulas but it has been a long time but back then I
had sight.
I am reading my Excel book to figure how to set up formula so I can do
sinerio analysis in case I wish to refinance if and when rates drop.

So what mortgage calculator did you use? Do you have direct link?
I used Google but when I entered numbers I was prompted for zip code so I
guess my inquiry would be a sales lead to a broker or loan officer.

Thanks,
Ann

I am not looking to buy real estate but am looking for a way to calculate
answers using Jaws.
Thanks,
Ann

 Victor

Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator

2009-06-29 Thread Victor
Hi Ann,

To be able to get, and see the posts you send to the lists you belong to
with Gmail, do the following:

Assuming you're using a standard e-mail client like Outlook Express or
Outlook, open up the tools menu, then arrow down to accounts and press
enter.

Once in the dialog box, highlight your Gmail account, and tab to the
properties button, and press the spacebar.

In the resulting dialog box, control+tab to the servers page, and tab down
to the e-mail address edit field.

In that field, type the word recent with a colon before your e-mail address.

So, if you're typing this information into your e-mail field, you would type
in:

recent:amedl...@gmail.com

Tab down to the apply button, then shift+tab back to the ok button and press
the spacebar.

You'll land back on the accounts dialog box, at which point, you tab to the
close button, then press the spacebar again.

The next time you send and receive your messages, you'll receive each and
every message you ever sent via Gmail, so be prepared to get a flood of
e-mails once you do this.

Let us know how you do.

Hi Ann,

Sorry about that, I just had my terms mixed up.

It is in the account name that you have to put the word recent in.

You won't get any results if you put the word recent in the general page, it
has to go where you have your e-mail address on the servers tab.

Once you do that, it should start working for you.

Good luck to you too. Smiles.
