Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator, How To Turn It Off!
Wow, Mike, that is really weird. If another solution emerges, aside from re-booting the computer, I'd love to hear it. I have inadvertently activated the calculator on a Dell laptop a number of times, and know how easy that is to do. I guess I've been lucky that the alt f4 command has worked for me at least so far. Mike, for the future, the alt+spacebar c or killing the process for the program's executable would also close the stubborn program. Hi Ann and list. This is an answer to an extremely old email message (I'm sort of working in reverse). Anyway, this is what was sent to me about how to get the messages you have sent out to show up if you are on Gmail and using Outlook Express. It worked for me. Here's how to do it. HTH. Change your username in your Outlook Express account or whatever program you are using as follows: recent:usern...@gmail.com The next time you download mail, you will download all mail for the last thirty days. After that one time, you will only download new mail but mail you sent to lists will be downloaded by your e-mail program. Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator
Ann, The formula for simply doing this on a calculator is pretty complex. Haven't used it in years and don't remember it. But Microsoft Excel has simple functions to do this. The first is: PMT(rate, number of payments, present value, future value). Rate is the interest rate per period (not APR). In your example, it is 0.5% or 0.005. Number of payments would be, in your example, 360, assuming monthly payments for 30 years. Present value is the amount of the loan, e.g., $100,000. Future value, in this case, will be $0, since the loan will be payed off then. So the formula should look like this: PMT(0.005,360,10,0) The result is $599.55, which will be your monthly mortgage payment. As for your other question, The Excel function is: PV(rate, number of payments, payment, future value, type) The first two function arguments are the same as above. payment, of course, is your desired monthly payment and type is optional and doesn't apply to what you are doing. The formula for your example should look like this: PV(0.005,360,1000,0) The result is: $166,791.61, which is the amount of money you can borrow for a period of 30 years at 6.0% interest that will result in a monthly payment of exactly $1,000.00 Hope this has been helpful. Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator
Hi Darren, I don't believe you're correct in that. I believe the amount she would be able to get is around the 96000 to 9 dollar amount, based on my experience with real estate sales. Keep in mind that this is assuming that her income, or, at least, the 1000 is only 33% of her net monthly income, or household income, otherwise no normal bank will approve you. One option you could go for is to check online with one of the major commercial banks, as they will usually have a mortgage calculator on their sites that are usually very Jaws friendly. One place you might also try is HUD's website, as I believe they have a mortgage calculator on their site, and it's accessible. Another thing you may want to look for is HUD's programs for people with disabilities, as they have tonnes of discounts and grants for people with disabilities that you can apply for, and this will affect the amount of mortgage you will pay every month, and lower the amount you will borrow also. Just something to look at to ease your burden. Victor For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Hi Darin and all, I am not looking to buy real estate but am looking for a way to calculate answers using Jaws. In college I knew these formulas but it has been a long time but back then I had sight. I am reading my Excel book to figure how to set up formula so I can do sinerio analysis in case I wish to refinance if and when rates drop. So what mortgage calculator did you use? Do you have direct link? I used Google but when I entered numbers I was prompted for zip code so I guess my inquiry would be a sales lead to a broker or loan officer. Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator
Darin, i just changed my email to GMail because I was having problems with BellSouth. Anyway I don't see my posts on list. My email is amedl...@gmail.com or amedl...@bellsouth.net - Original Message - From: Darrin Porter darrin.por...@united-mar.com To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, June 29, 2009 1:11 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator Ann, I verified my calculations with a Mortgage calculator spreadsheet for Excel that I downloaded from the internet. In college I knew these formulas but it has been a long time but back then I had sight. Do you have direct link? I used Google but when I entered numbers I was prompted for zip code so I guess my inquiry would be a sales lead to a broker or loan officer. Victor, It's an Excel spreadsheet I downloaded from the internet. I can send it to you if you'd like. Quite straight forward if you're familiar with Excel. Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator
Hi Ann, To be able to get, and see the posts you send to the lists you belong to with Gmail, do the following: Assuming you're using a standard e-mail client like Outlook Express or Outlook, open up the tools menu, then arrow down to accounts and press enter. Once in the dialog box, highlight your Gmail account, and tab to the properties button, and press the spacebar. In the resulting dialog box, control+tab to the servers page, and tab down to the e-mail address edit field. In that field, type the word recent with a colon before your e-mail address. So, if you're typing this information into your e-mail field, you would type in: recent:amedl...@gmail.com Tab down to the apply button, then shift+tab back to the ok button and press the spacebar. You'll land back on the accounts dialog box, at which point, you tab to the close button, then press the spacebar again. The next time you send and receive your messages, you'll receive each and every message you ever sent via Gmail, so be prepared to get a flood of e-mails once you do this. Let us know how you do. Hi Victor, In servers page it is account name and not email name. Email name is in general page. I changed email in general page. Good luck to me. Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculator
Hi Ann, Sorry about that, I just had my terms mixed up. It is in the account name that you have to put the word recent in. You won't get any results if you put the word recent in the general page, it has to go where you have your e-mail address on the servers tab. Once you do that, it should start working for you. Good luck to you too. Smiles. Victor For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
