Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook XP auto complete

2008-03-02 Thread Denny Huff
That could be. I wasn't sure what Outlook 9 was, Office 2000, XP or 2003.
I would assume there would be an auto complete someplace, if not in Jaws
then in his version of Outlook.

Thanks,

Denny Huff

I don't believe this would have any effect in Outlook 2000 which is what the
poster is referring to. It is not a Jaws issue - the feature does not exist
in Outlook 2000.

I have that option in 2007 and 2003 both.
Are you using Jaws 9?
If so, you should have the auto complete in the verboscity options. It
should be the very first option when you do an insert v in Outlook.

I have checked the tools menu as per your suggestion; the auto name checking

Perhaps it's time to upgrade???

Tab to,Automatic Name checking and Suggest names while completing, and make

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook XP auto complete

2008-02-29 Thread Don and Cher Bosch
Ryan, thanks. When I had tried that combination, I thought auto-complete
was not working because Outlook did not seem to be picking up the names.
After reading your message and working with it some more, I see that it does
work. It does however seem to take typing more than 3 characters in order
for Outlook to pick up on the name- apparently why I thought it was not
working before. Outlook does sometimes read the completed name though (and
mostly not) when I tab on over to the CC field, so that it is not always
necessary to shift-tab back to the 'To' field to see if it worked. It works
better than having it fill in the wrong address automatically though, for
sure! Thanks again.

Cher

Hi,

You can do this by turning off the suggest names while completing "to" or
"CC" check box. This will stop Outlook from auto completing the "to" or "CC"
fields from names that you previously typed in those fields.

If you wish Outlook to fill in names from your contacts, make sure the check
box called automatic name checking is checked. This check box is located
just before the suggest names check box referenced above.

Both of these check boxes are in the advanced e-mail option dialog, which is
under the e-mail preferences dialog.

This will work for both Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2003. I believe this will
also work for Outlook 2007, although the wording in the options menu may be
slightly different.

Hi,

The instructions I gave were for Outlook 2002 (or Outlook XP) which is what
I thought you referred to in your e-mail message subject. The instructions
will work for Outlook 2002 and above.

In Outlook 2000, the suggest name feature will only check against names that
you have stored in your contacts. Unlike Outlook 2002 and above, it will not
check against names that you have previously typed in the "to" or "CC"
fields.

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook XP auto complete

Unlike Outlook 2002 and above, it will not
check against names that you have previously typed in the "to" or "CC"
fields.

Dear Ryan and Denny

I have checked the tools menu as per your suggestion; the auto name checking
is checked, but there is no "suggest names while completing" option; is this
for the 2007 version of Outlook only? I use Outlook 9 with Office 2000.
Perhaps it's time to upgrade??? Thanks, Samira

I just saw in your subject line that you are using Outlook XP. Not sure if
it will be the in Outlook 2003, but try this. Go to tools and then options.
The first tab will be, preferences, tab to, email options. Tab to, advanced
email options and press your spacebar. Tab to,Automatic Name checking and
Suggest names while completing, and make
sure they are both checked. Tab to OK and then to OK and once again to
OK.

I have that option in 2007 and 2003 both.
Are you using Jaws 9?
If so, you should have the auto complete in the verboscity options. It
should be the very first option when you do an insert v in Outlook.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook XP auto complete

2008-02-22 Thread Denny Huff
I just saw in your subject line that you are using Outlook XP. Not sure if
it will be the in Outlook 2003, but try this.
Go to tools and then options.
The first tab will be, preferences, tab to, email options.
Tab to, advanced email options and press your spacebar.
Tab to,Automatic Name checking and Suggest names while completing, and make
sure they are both checked. Tab to OK and then to OK and once again to
OK.

Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express?
Also, did you turn the address auto completion on in Jaws? Insert v and
arrow down to, address auto completion.

I switched from Eudora to Outlook and I am trying to get Outlook to
automatically complete the recipient name as I used to do in Eudora. How can
I set it to do this? I went over all the options in the tools menu but could
not find a radio button for autocomplete. In Eudora, once you enter a
recipient into the address book, Eudora complete the address as soon as you
type the initial letter.
Thanks for any help.

2008-02-22 Thread Ryan MacIsaac
Hi,

To make sure this option is turned on, go to the tools menu and select
options. Next, select the e-mail preferences button, then the advanced
e-mail options button. In the advanced e-mail options dialog, look for the
check box that says "Suggest names when completing To or CC field". Make
sure this check box is checked and this should do what you want.

In Outlook, you'll have to type it the first time. After that, it should
pick up after you type the first 3 letters.

Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook XP auto complete

2008-02-09 Thread Griffiths, Steve
Larry,

A quick search on Google gives the impression that you can delete a
single nickname entry by pressing delete when it appears in the
autocomplete list as you're typing the address, and you can delete the
whole autocomplete history by using Windows Explorer to delete a file
with your profile name and the filetype NK2; it'll be buried somewhere
in your Documents and Settings folder.

But Microsoft don't provide a way to directly edit an NK2 file. There
are a number of third party editors available, and if you google "edit
NK2" you'll get some further information.

Hi folks,

I need to clean out some incorrect and outdated addresses in the Outlook
XP
auto complete file. Does anyone know where Outlook XP stores these
addresses? They are not in the regular address book and a Windows search
of
Outlook auto complete yielded nothing.
I am using Jaws 8.latest and Windows XP-Pro.
