wrt jar ordering: afaik: this uses the ordering that java.io.File provides you. Have a look at the javadoc. You can use the prefix sorter to explicitly give an ordering. Have a look at conf/jboss-service.xml! Has anyone been able to install Jboss in Eclipse IDE so that you can run in debug mode! The reason I ask is because if you can run in eclipse it shouldn't be too hard to get it all working using Maven...like any build I have worked with it tends to be alot of it but basic in what it is doing...I might just get the latest build and go for it...Ill start with 32X and then have a look at 4 later View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3828301#3828301 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3828301 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies. [JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Nukes Downloads Module has been added to cvs
The nukes module has been added to cvs. All functionality of the postnuke downloads module has been implimented I think. If you find something that has not been implimented please let me know. I think it is production ready but I need other people to test it. I have created the mysql setup.xml files only. I need people with other databases to create the setup.xml files for those databases. I will try to look at the ones that already exist and see if I can create them if no one else gets to them. I would appreciate it if some of you who have been working with modules longer, do a code review and let me know what I could have done better. The downloads module also has 3 block modules which can be deployed using the deploy-components target. I also think I made a mistake when I checked in the downloads module. It got checked in at the cvsroot level. I did manage to finally get it checked in where it was supposed to go. It seems like I may get the hang of this one day. Who should I talk to about clearing that problem up? [JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Complex index page without recoding core
HI, here I am again with some questions: Is it possible to create a complex index page without having to recode the core of Nukes? With complex I mean, it's own template, including summaries of news (dynamically off cource ... ). I looked at the code and I think the only way is to recode the core, the only thing i can change is the name of the homepage (located in the repository). I would prefering to create an index page through the admin console without having to recode the core. Any suggestions or remarks of how this is perhaps going to change in the future. [JBoss-dev] [Tomcat] - Tomcat Interceptor Hook?
Does anyone know how I can configure stand-alone Tomcat (v5) so I can add my own interceptor? I am trying to set JBoss security credentials (with SecurityAssociation) so I need Tomcat to call back into me before every request. I saw where the JBossSecurityMgrRealm does this by entending Value but that one seems to work in embedded Tomcat. I have my own security realm and implemented Value but nothing happened. I saw from old posts about a RequestInterceptor but it seems that concept has been replaced. Any guidance would be appreciated. [JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Re: Complex index page without recoding core
When you say "index page", I assume that you mean the default page someone sees. You do not have to change the core really. Create a module that has an operation that produces the page you want. public void welcome(Page page) { | if (getApi().userLoggedIn()) { | // render the page | } else { | page.sendRedirect("index.html"); | } | } | | Have your own version of the nukes.ear/nukes.sar jboss-service.xml that has the CoreModule configured like: index.html?module=myIndexPage&op=welcome | Done! [JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Re: Complex index page without recoding core
The hardcoding is in: private void print(Page page, String fileId, String contentType, String content, Integer id) { Level level = secGetLevel(fileId + "::"); if (contentType == null || !contentType.startsWith("text/")) { page.openTable(); page.print(""); page.print("Your browser do not support iframes"); page.print(""); page.closeTable(); return; } you can see that the height is set to 600. - I know that a user can set his own template / theme. But that's not what I wanna do, I need to (portal look and feel): - have a startpage with a specific layout - have a bunch of other pages that have a complete different layout then the start page, so not only the template for the module. Is just want to know what the easiest (and how) way is to do this. And all of these templates should come out of the database, but I allready know how to do this with the HtmlLoader so :) I know something :) I just found a another problem, can css files or js files be stored (pff course BUT) in the database and then retrieved from them to be used inside the template, now all the examples just have a css file somewhere in their jar. [JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Can I write documentaion in the wiki
Hi, I'm posting these days a lot of basic questions, I'm new to Nukes so ... but I guess a lot of us aou there will encounter the same first-steps problems. So I was wondering that It is ok to write some basic how-to on the wiki site. Some small problems I encountered like, how to create a dynamic start page, how to get templates from the database . blabla ... I don't know if you guys would be interedted in this so let me know I think it would lower the complexity of this yet undocumented framework. is there any reason you are just dropping the -ds.xml files into the deploy directory directly? that would cause them to be deployed before any of the jar files. your build/deployment process could handle doing all the copy/deletes to/from the deploy directory. [JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Loading interceptor classes at run-time DR3
1) I'm using jboss-aop with some other application servers such as weblogic and websphere. Would this usage construe as a jboss license violation?? The basic stuff works with weblogic 8.1 2) I'd like to jar load the interceptor classes at run-time and dynamically attach and detach interceptors to advice bindings. I noticed that the AdviceBinding.addInterceptor(Class) takes only a "class argument". How can I ask the aspect manager to use a particular class-loader to resolve that class? I tried the following from a session bean. addNewInterceptor(classname) -> jar loads the class file using some jar-directory conventions and is able to render the interceptor class attachInterceptor(pointcut, interceptor) -> does the following AdviceBinding binding = new AdviceBinding(pointcut, null); binding.addInterceptor(jarLoader.loadClass(interceptor)); aspectManager.addBinding(binding); At the point of adding the binding I get the ClassNotFoundException initiated at the GenericInterceptorFactory. Oh! So do I provide a custom "JarLoadingInterceptorFactory" then? I'm going to try that out. any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks rajiv View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3828379#3828379 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3828379 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies. JaasSecurityManagerService (required by JaasSecurityDomain) makes a call to InitialContext.getNameParser(). This first determines the default InitialContext (i.e. FakeInitialContext) and calls getParser() on the default IC. This was not implemented, causing a StackOverflowError by the repeated recursive calls to getNameParser(). I have implemented FakeInitialContext.getNameParser() to return a org.jnp.interfaces.NamingParser instance since this is what was being used when I stepped through the code running normally in JBoss using JBoss-IDE. I'm tidying everything up and will be committing shortly. [JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Persistence of AspectManager modifications
Before posing my main questions. I noticed an "AdviceFactory" and "InterceptorFactory" in the api docs. My understanding would be advices are methods of aspects and interceptors are individual classes that pretty much do all of the advising, correct? I'm hoping the concept of "interceptor classes" will not disappear someday to be replaced by "aspect" classes, correct? Because AspectWerkz 0.10 RC1 did just that, they are more closer to attributes than declarative syntax of advices (or interceptors). Now to do some justice to the subject message. Has anyone given any thought to "persisting" the changes that are applied on the AspectManager during run-time? It would be really nice if I can generate the aop-xml file again. This could be done during the shutdown or something to either overwrite the existing xml or write back to a new file. Also is the xml file read once during startup or is it constantly monitored at run-time? Can I start without any aop-xml file and supply the xml contents at run-time? Can I have multiple aop-xml files? Sorry for being so inquisitive. Thanks for your time. No, not your fault, it was the easiest way to implement it and I didn't use your code. Besides, it is BETTER in some situations when the CFLOW trigger is a rare case. We have some of these usecases in our application server where doing it the ThreadLocal way would add too much overhead for a CFLOW that was rarely triggered. Issue 1) JBoss appears to create a spurious Session Bean when a client serializes and deserializes the remote interface. The attached file demonstrates the issue - you'll need to tweak build.xml, but when that has been done, do ant deploy ant client The client creates a statefull session bean, invokes, stores the remote handle to a file, deserializes it and invokes on the bean (with appropriate narrowing). The second invokation goes to the correct bean, however the server output indicates the Session Bean constructor and setSessionCOntext have been called (in error). Issue 2) After having run 'ant client' I see the following output from the server (starting about 15 minutes after the 'ant client' call) 13:25:25,765 WARN [AbstractInstanceCache] Unable to passivate due to ctx lock, id=dshx0pi7-4 13:35:25,765 WARN [AbstractInstanceCache] Unable to passivate due to ctx lock, id=dshx0pi7-4 13:45:25,781 WARN [AbstractInstanceCache] Unable to passivate due to ctx lock, id=dshx0pi7-4 13:55:25,781 WARN [AbstractInstanceCache] Unable to passivate due to ctx lock, id=dshx0pi7-4 -- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=376685&aid=927062&group_id=22866 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies. You can get latest from CVS and build, or, in the meantime, the problem is that the GenericInterceptorFactory doesn't try and resolve the class until advice bind time. What you may be able to do is the following | Class interceptorClass = ; | Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(interceptorClass.getClassLoader); | AdviceBinding.addInterceptor(interceptorClass); | aspectManager.addBinding(binding); | Let me know if this helps. JBoss AOP should work with 3.2, the problem is, I think the jboss-common.jar may have a few classes that 3.2 doesn't. Sorry I didn't get this working for the beta release. I ran out of time. If you are familiar with our application server and JMX, you notice that changes you make at runtime cannot be reflected in the XML deployment descriptors. This would be hard to implement and change. What about writing your own deployer? The deployer could persist bindings and load them at runtime. Take a look at jboss-head/aspects/src/main/org/jboss/aop/deployer for an example. "rkadayam" wrote : | Also is the xml file read once during startup or is it constantly monitored at run-time? Can I start without any aop-xml file and supply the xml contents at run-time? Ok, hot deployment is only available when running inside the application server. You can run a stripped down version of the application server (this is our microkernel), but standalone JBoss AOP does not support hot deployment of XML files. So, running inside application server XML files put in the deploy directory are monitored at runtime. If you modify them, then they will hot deployed and advice/interceptors will be rebound. This should be a threadsafe operation. Also, if you package up your aspects within a foobar.aop jar file and put jboss-aop.xml in the META-INF directory, you can also hotdeploy these files. Sounds like you are building some tools? If you have anything interesting, send it to me offline ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and if it is any good, I'll give you CVS access. [JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Re: Loading interceptor classes at run-time DR3
Thanks I'll give that a shot. I have some related questions 0. Can I reference interceptors, pointcuts just by name instead of their expressions and class-name? I guess I'm just looking for the DTD :-) 1. Can I add interceptors by name to the Aspect system without binding to a pointcut? I saw a previous version of the XML that could do this. 2. Similarly I'd like to add a pointcut to the Aspect system without any bindings. I guess AspectManager.addPointcut() should do that trick. ok 3. And then I'll probably try to create an AdviceBinding(name,pointcut,null,null,null).addInterceptor() and then add this to AspectManager. 4. If I want to add more at a later time, I'm not sure how I can get access to that old AdviceBinding? AspectManager.getBindings() returned a bunch of strings, are they some sort of references? 4. Now, how do I remove a single interceptor from the binding? I could do AspectManager.removeBinding(name) but what is that name? 5. Are there possibilities to run into some name conflicts? Or do you generate some unique keys for the interceptor, aspect and pointcut elements? Thanks a bunch !! rajiv PS: I'm building some tools using the interceptor concept of AOP for some monitoring type tasks. This is cool stuff !! [JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-925133 ] Read-only entity fails to load.
Bugs item #925133, was opened at 2004-03-29 12:40 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by brodziakm You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=376685&aid=925133&group_id=22866 Category: JBossCMP Group: v3.2 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Mark Brodziak (brodziakm) Assigned to: Alexey Loubyansky (loubyansky) Summary: Read-only entity fails to load. Initial Comment: Operating System: Windows XP JDK Version: 1.4.2 JBoss Version: JBoss 3.2.3 I am using a set of read-only entity beans. This EJB package deploys and executes correctly under JBoss 3.2.1 (and 3.2.0RC3). Under JBoss 3.2.3 the attached exception trace occurs. The following forum entry (on JBoss.org) indicates that this problem was resolved earlier; it appears to have been re-introduced. http://www.jboss.org/index.html? module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=22204 I believe that the issue relates to the handling of read- only fields; I believe that they are being incorrectly optimised out of the SQL, and hence not loaded. To reproduce the bug: 1. Define a read-only entity bean. In my case the entity contains only 2 fields: key and description, which are both read-only. 2. Deploy the EJB. 3. Attempt to access the EJB. The exception trace should occur. -- >Comment By: Mark Brodziak (brodziakm) Date: 2004-04-01 09:29 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=728247 A quick note: We are using XDoclet to generate classes and XML descriptors. The entities have been set to 'read-only' in the source XDoclet tags. Because we have a -lot- of classes under source control, we updated our build script to strip the 'true from the file 'jbosscmp-jdbc.xml' from each CMP field. Note that this is NOT the jboss.xml, which -still- contains the true tag (as per my example). My sincere apologies if I misrepresented this earlier. So to summarise: - When entities are set to read-only in jboss.xml and their fields are set to read-only in jbosscmp-jdbc.xml, they fail to work under JBoss 3.2.3 - When entities are set to read-only in jboss.xml and their fields are not set to read-only in jbosscmp-jdbc.xml, they work correctly under JBoss 3.2.3 -- Comment By: Mark Brodziak (brodziakm) Date: 2004-03-30 09:27 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=728247 Attached is a simple packaged entity (Country codes / descriptions) and corresponding service bean that replicates the problem. [JBoss-dev] [Tomcat] - Re: Tomcat Interceptor Hook?
Your going to have to implement a Realm, and use a Valve to associate the callers identity, just as the JBossSecurityMgrRealm does. Valves are not specific to embedded tomcat. The only specific about the JBossSecurityMgrRealm to the embedded tomcat is how it looks up the security manager used for authentication and authorization. [JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Re: Loading interceptor classes at run-time DR3
"rkadayam" wrote : Thanks I'll give that a shot. | | I have some related questions | | 0. Can I reference interceptors, pointcuts just by name instead of their expressions and class-name? I guess I'm just looking for the DTD :-) | Yes. Look in the tutorial in the WIKI for info on named pointcuts. Everything definable in XML can take a name attribute. Sorry, but I've never written a DTD yet. Something more I have to do before final release. "rkadayam" wrote : | 1. Can I add interceptors by name to the Aspect system without binding to a pointcut? I saw a previous version of the XML that could do this. | Same XML works. | | | | | "rkadayam" wrote : | 2. Similarly I'd like to add a pointcut to the Aspect system without any bindings. I guess AspectManager.addPointcut() should do that trick. ok | Yes see tutorial for how to name pointcuts and have them separate from bindings. "rkadayam" wrote : | 3. | You cannot remove an advice or interceptor from a binding. You have to redeploy the whole binding. JBoss AOP automatically generates names for interceptors and bindings based on the XML file name and a random number. Take a look at org.jboss.aop.AspectXmlLoader to see how XML is parsed and how it populates. If you have suggestions for expanding the API, feel free to play with the code and then submit it. Or post your API change suggestions on a different topic. You probably want an addInterceptor method on AspectManager. There is an addInterceptorFactory. "rkadayam" wrote : | 5. Are there possibilities to run into some name conflicts? Or do you generate some unique keys for the interceptor, aspect and pointcut elements? | | Thanks a bunch !! | rajiv | | PS: I'm building some tools using the interceptor concept of AOP for some monitoring type tasks. This is cool stuff !! There is the possibility of running into name conflicts if you name the pointcuts, interceptors, aspect, or bindings yourself. I think our adapter is still being implemented and shipping with JBoss. I believe our snmp adaptor is a thirdparty library. You do not have to fix bugs before contributing to show your skill level. New feature/code submissions are also accepted as well. If they are good after we do a quick review, we give you access. [JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Re: Display options: Templates / XSLT / JSP
Given JBoss Nukes' heritage of leveraging the success of PHPNukes, there is a benefit to reusing templates from PHPNukes to redevelop modules for JBoss Nukes - a look & feel + functionality that has been tested. IMHO, for non-PHPNukes modules, simple modules will probably use inline HTML, while more complicated ones will use JSP or Velocity => Struts (?), in order to be close to J2EE land. [JBoss-dev] [Deployers on JBoss (Deployers/JBoss)] - Behaviour of jboss during hot deployment
Hi, I am using Jboss 3.2.2 I am curious to know about what would be the behaviour of jboss during hot deployment of a bean. [JBoss-dev] [TODO -- DEVELOPMENT] - Re: SNMP adaptor
1) It's still under development and there is a good chance it will get more active soon :) It certainly depends on how much people need it, too. 2) You need quite a few man/months of development to get to the commercial level, in terms of features. The target remains though to create useful server/side infrastructure, so for example, don't expect to see a full/fledged SNMP manager GUI. 3) If you have ideas or want to help, let me know.
