You can do this with JBoss, too, by not scoping your deployment, i.e. classes
can be are shared between modules, see

[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Re: Problem starting service AspectDeployer (JBoss 3.2.6 + J

2004-11-22 Thread michaelf
Dmitry,
Please refer to JBoss documentation at

http://docs.jboss.org/aop/aspect-framework/reference/en/html/installing.html

According to the documentation, JBossAOP 1.0.0 should work with JBoss 3.2.6.

I am interesting if it is really possible to run JBossAOP 1.0.0 with JBoss
3.2.6 or it just my mistake in installation / configuration etc.

Please note, I have performed all required steps according to the documentation
and the AspectManager service is started without any problems.

Please help!
Best regards,
Michael

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately it didn't helped, because you described

[JBoss-dev] [JBossCache] - Re: Does node triggers coordinator methods?

2004-11-22 Thread nthx
Ok. I got this SharedStoreCacheLoader, but I have little problems with using
it. It has strange constructor, so it cannot be plugged directly by using XML
conf file. Any help with this, please?

Next thing:
about shared cache loader.

Correct me if my assumptions are wrong:
-I want to have shared DB
-want to use lazy loading (my custom implementation) from DB
-so I start cache with several nodes
-aop tree is empty
-tree.getObject("/customers/first");
-after that, the tree has one element, loaded with my custom: Map get(Fqn fqn)
method
-I _thought_ from now on, in case every _other_ node wants "/customers/first"
it will be given by cache
 -but: from other nodes method: Map get(Fqn) is still executed. So,
basically: there is no cache ? :/

Here is my configuration:
-FetchStateOnStartup: TRUE

-CacheLoader: MyCustomLoader
-CacheLoaderShared: TRUE
-CacheLoaderPreload: empty -because I want to lazy load all data
-CacheLoaderFetchTransientState: TRUE
-CacheLoaderFetchPersistenceState: FALSE

I think sth might be wrong with implementation of my CacheLoader. Because I
think FileBased and Bdbje work correct.

Any comment?

T.

Are you using JBoss 4.0 or 4.0 RC1 as in your original post? Try JBoss 4.0 if
you haven't already, as there were changes to the deployer architecture between
the two versions.

[JBoss-dev] [Deployers on JBoss (Deployers/JBoss)] - Re: Deployer chains and interceptors

2004-11-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I imagine we need something like Subdeployers exposing an additional interface
to register/deregister interceptors.

Some issues that come to my mind:

- I'd prefer not to have one more Interceptor class. The JMX interceptor seems
too much for this, while I'm not yet sure if something can be re-used from the
future 5.0 kernel interceptor

- For the interceptor to gain control we'll have to possibly create another set
of methods on the SubDeployer interface to be used by MainDeployer (e.g.
interceptedInit, intereceptedCreate/Start/Stop/Destroy) that delegate to the
interceptor chain, with the default interceptor calling the standard
init/create/start/stop/destroy methods.

- About the ordering, wherever we've used interceptors so far, it is by means
of explicit declaration in some xml file. I don't know how the aop framework
handles this for "dynamic" interceptor registrations, so at the most I'd
imagine something like, add()/addFirst()/addLast()

- Since the set of methods for the subdeployer interface is fixed, maybe it
makes sense instead of a "generic" interceptor to have a specific
SubDeployerHandler

- From the webservice deployer it seems the problem with the existing
notification based scheme, is that the "attaching" deployer cannot fail the
"primary" deployment

[JBoss-dev] [Deployers on JBoss (Deployers/JBoss)] - Re: Deployer chains and interceptors

2004-11-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
yes at least this interceptor chain can use a typed interface, it does not
makes sense to use the generic interceptor interface.

one concern regarding to improve the WARDeployer would be to have tomcat use an
input stream for web.xml when it deploys a war file instead of opening the
stream by itslef.
Thus that would avoid the rewrite the modified web.xml on the disk which
overwrites the original document.

concerning the ordering, perhaps there should be a free slot to deploy custom
interceptors like : 1/2/3/X/4/5/6

and have 1/2/3/4/5/6 as static interceptors (defined in xxx.xml) and X as a
dynamic chain where any service can plugs itself through an API. In that case
order does not matter.

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss IDE (dev)] - Problem using JBoss IDE 1.4.0 with AOP Extension

2004-11-22 Thread HolgerCasties
Hi,

I'm using Eclipse with JBoss IDE 1.4.0 installed via update site:
- JBoss-IDE 3.0 plus AOP Extension and AOP Standalone.

The problem, I'm describing below, appears in the following environments:
- WIN2000, Eclipse 3.0.1, JDK1.4.2_06
- WIN2000, Eclipse 3.0.1, JDK5.0
- WIN2000, Eclipse 3.1M3, JDK5.0
- Linux, Eclipse 3.0.1 (GTK), JDK5.0
- Linux, Eclipse 3.1M3 (GTK), JKD5.0

After creating a very simple J2EE 1.4 Project with one Session Bean class
(ejb.TestBean), I want to add an Interceptor (aop.ComputeInterceptor) to a
business method (ejb.TestBean.compute).
At first, I converted this project to an AOP project:
- A jboss-aop.xml file was created:

When I'm trying to select the java file 'TestBean.java' again, the following
problems report occurs:
Unable to instantiate editor:
org.jboss.ide.eclipse.jdt.aop.ui.editors.AopJavaEditor
org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException: Plug-in
org.jboss.ide.eclipse.jdt.aop.ui was unable to load class
org.jboss.ide.eclipse.jdt.aop.ui.editors.AopJavaEditor

Note:
If I create a pure J2EE 1.4 Application without any JBoss AOP functionality
there are no problems or
when I create a pure JBoss AOP Application without any J2EE funtionality there
are also no problems!

Conslusion:
The combination of both, JBoss J2EE and JBoss AOP, causes the problem mentioned
above, at least on my systems.

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss Profiler] - jboss profiler , second start stop of profiler behaviour

2004-11-22 Thread tomerbd
Question :

Why wont the data gatherer start the second time with this scenario ?

1. start jboss
2. ctrl-break to start it
3. ctrl-break to stop it
(so far fine)
4. ctrl-break to start it (its wont start, need to do restart to jboss in
order to start it again)

Answer :

the second data gatherer is supported only through the JMX-console or the
socket
console.

[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Re: problems with aop

2004-11-22 Thread Ollihak
Hi,

I finally solved my problems now...Thank you, Kabir, for your help. It was
somewhat tricky, although everything was available in tutorials, but some of
them were contradictory etc.

So for those of you, who are beginners of implementing aop, here is what I did
for implementing my first aspect:

1. Install JBoss-4.0.0 (download the zip-file from jboss.org) and JDK1.5

2. delete the jboss-aop.deployer-file from server/all/deploy

Note: I had to use the jboss-all-configuration, aop did not work with the
default-configuration on my system.

3. Download jboss-aop_1.0.0-FINAL.zip from jboss.org and unzip it. Copy the
whole jboss-aop-jdk50.deployer directory into your server/all/deploy directory.
(If you are using jdk1.4 you have to copy the jboss-aop.deployer-directory)

4. Now, modify the jboss-service.xml-file in the
jboss-aop-jdk50.deployer/META-INF directory. The only thing you have to do is
to set the "EnableTransformer"-Attribute to TRUE. This will cause jboss to take
a longer time when starting up.

Note: On my system it was not enough to simply set the same attribute to TRUE
on the jmx-console.

5. Start the all-configuration by the command
run -c all
on your console.

6. The packaging looks like this:

HelloWorld.ear contains:

-HelloWorld.jar // here are simple EnterpriseBeans that say "HelloWorld"
-Aspect.aop // this is a jar-file ending with the suffix .aop, which contains
the aspect code
-Maybe you also add .war-files if you are implementing a servlet
-finally a META-INF/application.xml-file

My application.xml-file looks like this:

  | http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/application_1_2.dtd'>
  |
  |
  | AOP in JBoss example
  |
  | HelloWorld.jar
  |
  |
  | Aspect.aop
  |
  |
  |

Just for completeness, the HelloWorld.jar contains:
- HelloWorld.class  //Remote Interface
- HelloWorldBean.class // Your enterprise bean
- HelloWorldHome.class // Home-Interface
- META-INF/ejb-jar.xml  // deployment-descriptor for the beans

and my Aspect.aop-file contains:
- aspect.class // Aspect code as described in the tutorials
- META-INF/jboss-aop.xml  // AOP-Deployment-descriptor

Note:
Make sure that, when trying to set an aspect on a bean-class or just one method
of a bean-class for example, the -tag - or other tags in your
jboss-aop.xml-file - must describe the whole package-structure of your code, to
find the correct class.

7. Copy this .ear-file to the server/all/deploy-directory to deploy it on the
server

8. Run your client

Of course, there are different methods to make it work, but this on fit for me.
I hope it might help you...

OLLI

[JBoss-dev] [Deployers on JBoss (Deployers/JBoss)] - Re: Deployer chains and interceptors

2004-11-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I'm not aware of this tomcat problem. I presume having a virtual file system
would help, yet, I think interceptors and vfs could be solved seperately.

So, do you prefer the current deployment scheme plus interceptors (i.e. war,
ejb, sar, etc. deployers with the ability to attach extra interceptors)? In
that case adding interceptors will be an exception for cases likes Nukes or
WebServices, so ordering may not be so important - we can just add interceptors
first in the chain.

The other model is to have all subdeployers being "aspects" in a single chain.
I believe this is Adrian's plan for 5.0 but I don't know if this is realistic
for 4.0.

[JBoss-dev] [Deployers on JBoss (Deployers/JBoss)] - Re: Deployer chains and interceptors

2004-11-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
This is not a problem currently because Portal and WS don't do the same :

WS modifies the web.xml
Portal modifies the tomcat StandardContext object to inject its servlet

In case Portal do the same as WS, I think it would not work because both of
them would modify web.xml and I am sure there would have issues for that
regarding to the backup file and who process first, etc...

Having a VFS would be a must :-)

Summary: Problem with Deserialzing Arrays by Axis

Initial Comment:
Hello,

I am getting the following error:

" org.xml.sax.SAXException: SimpleDeserializer
encountered a
child element, which is NOT expected, in something it
was trying
to deserialize "

I am using AXIS 1.1,Jboss4.0 and JbossWs with doc/lit
Style.

I have written a small HelloWorld application that has
one method 'printMessage' that takes an array of '
Message '( user defined class ) as an argument.

Without using the array everything works fine .
However when I add my customized type's Array I get
the above error.

Below is a summary of what was done:

STEP - 1 :- Created a impl class and Client class
=
---

HelloWorld_Impl.java
---

package com.myapp;

import java.rmi.RemoteException;
import javax.xml.rpc.*;
import javax.xml.rpc.server.ServiceLifecycle;

public class HelloWorld_Impl implements HelloWorld,
ServiceLifecycle
{
public String printMessage(ArrayOfMessage
arrayOfMessage)
{
System.out.println("In printMessage...");
return arrayOfMessage.toString();
}
}

---

HelloWorldClient.java
---

package com.myapp;

public class HelloWorldClient
{
public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception
{
HelloWorldServiceLocator locator = new
HelloWorldServiceLocator();
Message message = new Message();
message.setMessage("HelloWorld");
Message array[] = { message };
ArrayOfMessage arrayOfMessage = new ArrayOfMessage
();
arrayOfMessage.setMessages(array);
locator.getHelloWorld().printMessage(arrayOfMessage);
}
}

STEP - 2 :- configured jaxrpc-

Summary: Duplication of init-param in web.xml

Initial Comment:
When a web-service is deployed more then once using
the same directory, the web.xml is modified each time,
leading to the following example :

MyServlet
org.jboss.webservice.server.ServiceEndpointServlet
JSE

  ws4ee-service-name
  MyService

  ws4ee-service-name
  MyService

-1

It seems that in the ServiceDeployer.java, in the
method modifyServletConfig(), no check is done
to ensure the servlet init-param named "ws4ee-service-
name" already exists.
Once the init-param is at least duplicated, the web-
service fails totally to work.

Any further information to me jose do-t chillan at jaynti

Summary: ClassCastException in initServiceUse on valid WSDL

Initial Comment:
When a soap:header element appears in the "output"
part of the "binding" part of a WSDL file, like this:

...

  ...

a ClassCastException occurs in initServiceUse() in
ServiceDescription.java. As a result, it is not possible to
support SOAP services using custom headers in the
output message.

This happens because the code assumes that only
SOAPBody objects occur in
wsdlBindingOutput.getExtensibilityElements(), not
SOAPHeader objects. For the input part, this is correctly
protected against with "if (obj instanceof SOAPBody)",
but not for the output part.

SUGGESTED FIX:
Use the "if (obj instanceof SOAPBody)" protection for
the output part, anologous to the input part.

OS: All
JDK: All

[JBoss-dev] [JCA on JBoss] - Extending the ActivationSpec JavaBean semantics

2004-11-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I have created a JavaMail inflow resource adaptor and we only support
ActivationSpecs that have String properties. If the natural type for an
ActivationSpec property is not type String, then the property setter has to
handle the type conversion. This seems highly non-JavaBean like given that you
have to duplicate all of the PropertyEditor behavior in each non-native String
setter.

Given that these are JavaBeans as per the spec, it does not seem a big stretch
to support the same semantic we do with MBeans in that we use String to bean
property conversion via PropertyEditors and introspection.
I added a generic utility method to
org.jboss.util.propertyeditor.PropertyEditors

  | mapJavaBeanProperties(Object bean, Properties beanProps)
  |   throws IntrospectionException
  |

which will do the mapping given the string/string key/value forms of the
properties so this is an easy change. This is a pure superset of the existing
behavior. Adrian voiced a portability concern that someone who writes a rar
that works on jboss will be surprised when the same does not deploy elsewhere
due to the extended behavior. I would argue that anything less is not actually
supporting the JavaBean spec properly.

I'll look at supporting this with a testcase in head. I guess the question is
why should this every be disabled?

Ok, don't know why I could not match up the source but the
attached file looks correct. The problem is inconsistent
acquisition order of the two locks, m_cacheLock and cache id
BeanLock.

AbstractInstanceCache.get
-> synchronizes(m_cacheLock)

-> AbstractInstanceCache.tryToPassivate
-> BeanLock.sync()

LRUEnterpriseContextCachePolicy$OveragerTask.run

I've attached a copy of

If this is not the right version, could you please identify which

[JBoss-dev] [Deployers on JBoss (Deployers/JBoss)] - Re: Deployer chains and interceptors

2004-11-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Ok, here is the design I have in mind for the new deployer aspects.
This will be part of JBoss Kernel M2 release due by end of January.

Deploying Deployers:
First you have to be able to deploy a deployer. Not an easy task as I imagine
the deployer will have dependencies on other services. The aim will be to
minimize
these dependencies to ease the problem.

Basic Architecture:
The basic architecture of the aspectized deployer is that the deployments
work with a tree of DeploymentInfo objects just like the deployers do now.
There are two major differences:
1) The deployers do not deal with urls, they deal with VFS contexts
2) The deployers do not create objects directly, instead they create kernel
MetaData objects and submit them to the kernel for instantiation/configuration
to obtain correct ordering of startup/shutdown

Deployment Mode:
The deployers work in two different modes
1) The first step is to ask who recognises the VFS context. This is so
the responsible deployer can correctly decide which part of the context
takes part in the classloading and where the metadata is located.
Additionally, this may introduce subdeployments (VFS contexts) if the
deployment allows/contains them.
2) The second step (the main chain) allows each deployer to augment the
kernel metadata with its own config.

Deployer Ordering:
Since the deployers are working on a metadata model rather than
constructing objects directly, there should be less problem with ordering.
Most ordering will be in the classloader/instantiation/config stage,
the deployer should insert that ordering in the form of dependencies in the
metadata.
The only ordering required of the deployer chain is where one deployer
needs to work on the kernel metadata output of another deployer.

Killing two birds with one stone:
The problems mentioned with the deployer requiring other services
and the first tasks performed by package specific deployers,
i.e. identifying the deployment and its structure
can be easily solved by splitting the deployers into two classes
1) A structural component that says "I recognise this deployment and this is
how it is structured"
2) An interpretive component that creates the kernel metadata from the
package.

1) deploy a jar, this is also the classloader aspect

Mode 1:
The jar deployer will be simply make the root of a deployment the classloader
context if no other deployer has already decided (an example of deployer
ordering)

Mode 2:
It adds classloader metadata (regardless of who specified the context)
to the DeploymentInfo for the jar

How do you consider portlet use case ? /WEB-INF/portlet.xml must create
deployments that's why today I need to intercept the WebDeployer at the JMX
level to do that.

Do you think portlet.xml is a feature of the web app or a deployment ?

I'm not familar with the portlet deployment.

I imagine you can create a mode 2 portlet deployer
that either modifies the web.xml/jboss-web.xml before the web deployer sees it
and/or adds to/modifies the output from the web deployer?

This looks like an example where ordering of deployers would be important?

I don't see a tag for 3.2.7 rc2, nor do I see it on SourceForge. Are you
building from the tip of Branch_3_2? If so, expect the occasional error. You
can check cruisecontrol to see if the build is broken.

I'm not sure how many people realize the need for a good enterprise class mail
system.

Either for corperate mail, or ISP type hosting if the solution is right, people
will pay for support.

This is one of those types of projects that isn't going to get moving in the
community until people have something they can uselike Asterisk.

So, is this project dead on the table, or is Jboss planning on updating the
roadmap dates?

[JBoss-dev] [JBossCache] - multiple treecaches - TransactionManagers

2004-11-22 Thread Lehren
Is it theoretically possible to run two TreeCaches in the same VM that use
different TransactionManagers?

My situation involves using Hibernate (2.1) with a distributed second level
cache and TreeCache (1.1.1) running inside JBoss. Hibernate requires the
transaction manager lookup class
net.sf.hibernate.transaction.JBossTransactionManagerLookup, and seems to
control the java:/TransactionManager name binding.

For example, I attempted to setup a standard DummyUserTransaction test case,
and the DummyTransactionManager.getInstance() call fails to initialize itself
when it gets to:

ctx.bind("java:/TransactionManager", instance);

I would like to be able to run a distributed cache with a looser transactional
strategy, but I'm not having any luck getting it to run alongside the Hibernate
setup.

Thank you for any thoughts..

[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - What is the Javassist version used by JBoss AOP ?

2004-11-22 Thread agilbert
I'm having a NullPointerException when using this annotation:
public interface OneToMany
  | {
  | Class targetClass();
  | }
on this method:
/**
  |  * @@OneToMany (targetClass=CarBean)
  |  */
  | public List getCars()
  | {
  | return cars;
  | }
by calling this code:
AnnotationElement.getAnyAnnotation(method, klass);
I'd like to investigate it further but the Javassist 3.0RC1 source code does
not match the version included by JBoss AOP 1.0.0.

What is the Javassist version used by JBoss AOP ?

It is a snapshot...apologies, this is my bad. I was supposed to at least tag
Javassist's CVS when I released the last AOP, but I didn't.

FYI, you have to use fully-qualified class names with the annotation compiler
when referencing Enums or classes.

The fact that jboss uses dom4j, log4j, jaxen,

OK.

My problem was that the klass parameter was referring to another class instead
of the annotation class. I have no NPE anymore.

About the fully-qualified names: Will this limitation be lifted in a future
release ? As a programmer I would expect AOP to use the same namespace rules as
the Java compiler.

Yes. Keys are URI/URLs, values are the contents of the generated file.

CacheMode would be LOCAL (or replicated or you want to replicate that cache),
and you'd have to configure one of the CacheLoaders (e.g. BerkeleyDB).

I don't think this will ever be added. Its not on our TODO list. By the time

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss Profiler] - AOP-Monitoring - Quickstart

2004-11-22 Thread clebertsuconic
I've developed an AOP-monitoring tool for capturing real-time information.

The sourcecode for that is located at jboss-profiler of course, but there is a
few points that you could consider as main places of research:

I - The model:
 /java/src/aopAgent/org/jboss/profiler/aop/monitoring

II - The JMX-Beans
/java/src/mbean/org/jboss/profiler
Actually the MBean for monitoring is AOPStatisticsMonitoringService

III - I added three little configuration files that has an example in how to
use it. These files are located at /test

IV - There is one WEB-Application that is created for that. the root is at
/java/monitoringRoot.

During the deployment (ant-script), jboss-profiler.sar also containst the
deployment of aop-monitoring.war.

Everything that is developed throught the JMX like the example on /test will
appear in the WEB-interface.

We will document all these steps in the wiki after we got more development done.

getInstance() doesn't fail, it just throws a NamingException. That's fine you
can simply ignore it.

So you can do this programmatically:
TreeCache c;
DummyTxMgr mgr=DummyTxManager.getInstance();
c.setTransactionManager(mgr);

or via XML

To what extent does this block the cache? Is the blocking at the instance

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Feature Requests-1071301 ] Make the JBoss server runnable from a read-only partition

Summary: Make the JBoss server runnable from a read-only partition

Initial Comment:
In an enterprise setting, JBoss would be installed
as /opt/jboss-3.2.x which would be a read-only area.
The problem with the current setup of JBoss is that it
expects to be able to write to /opt/jboss-3.2.x/server/
{all,default,minimal}. Making JBoss instances easily
accessible from a different area than /opt/jboss-
3.2.x/server/ is important in this environment and would
be a very useful improvement.

[JBoss-dev] [JBossCache] - Re: Can JBOSS Cache Cache JSP's to Disk?

2004-11-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bela,

  Thanks for the reply. To expand, Is there a similar feature to OSCache like
a tag libarary that will allow cache control on sections of a JSP? Or is the
cache mechanism purely URL based?

  Also is there anywhere in the docs or example code out there where someone
has tried caching JSP (replicable) to disk? I saw a mention of a squid based
application of JBOSS Cache in the FAQ but have not found any good examples of
that type of configuration yet.

Thanks,
-nate

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-1071332 ] CMR and ejbCreate

2004-11-22 Thread SourceForge.net
Bugs item #1071332, was opened at 2004-11-22 22:42

Category: JBossCMP
Group: v4.0
Status: Open
Resolution: None
Priority: 5
Submitted By: Jasmine (kongdy)
Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody)
Summary: CMR and ejbCreate

Initial Comment:
Hi,

I have a problem regarding CMR. As for example, I have
two tables “Test” and “TestParams”. The tables
definitions are as follows:

Test
test_id varchar(20) not null– primary key
test_name varchar(20) not null

TestParams
test_id varchar(20) not null – primary key (references to
testID in Test)
examiner varchar(20) not null – primary key
length int not null

I am trying to establish a 1:N relationship between
them. I have the relevant getters and setters in the
two entity beans.

Getters/Setters in Test:
public abstract Collection getTestParamLists();
public abstract void setTestParamLists(Collection
testParamLists);

Getters/Setters in TestParams:
public abstract TestLocal getTest();
public abstract void setTest(TestLocal test);

Below are the extracts from the ejb-jar and jbosscmp-
jdbc:

Ejb-jar:

 Test-TestParams

   Test
   Test-has-
Params
   One

 test
 Test

  paramLists
  paramLists
  java.util.Collection

   Test
   Params-belong-to-
Test
   Many

 testParams
 TestParams

 test
 test

jbosscmp-jdbc:

Test-TestParams

  Test-has-
Params

  testId
  test_id

  Params-belong-
to-Test

I tried to create a Test bean and a TestParams bean by
issuing the following codes:
TestLocal newTest=testLocalHome.create(testobject);
testParamsLocalHome.create(paramObject, newTest);

The Test bean is successfully created, but not the
TestParams bean.
I got the following error:

javax.ejb.CreateException: javax.ejb.CreateException:
Could not create entity:java.sql.SQLException: Unknown
column 'test' in 'field list'

I looked at the log file and it has the following info:
Executing SQL: INSERT INTO TEST_PARAMS (test_ID,
examiner, length, test) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?)

It seems like Jboss thinks that my cmr field is a cmp
field? What do I need to change?

Any help is appreciate.

[JBoss-dev] [JBossCache] - Re: multiple treecaches - TransactionManagers

2004-11-22 Thread Lehren
Hmmm.. fair enough. Thank you, though I'm having trouble connecting the
TreeCache to the TransactionManager. I'm quite sure it's my fault for not
understanding it well enough.

There doesn't appear to be a TreeCache.setTransactionManager(..) method as
implied by your snippet. Distilling from many examples of how to use the
factory I get the following (code abbreviated for legibility):

  | String FACTORY = "org.jboss.cache.transaction.DummyContextFactory";
  | Properties properties = new Properties();
  | properties.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, FACTORY);
  |
  | DummyTransactionManager transactionManager =
DummyTransactionManager.getInstance();
  |
  | org.jboss.cache.TreeCache tc = new org.jboss.cache.TreeCache();
  | PropertyConfigurator config = new PropertyConfigurator();
  | config.configure(tc, "Private-TreeCache.xml");
  | tc.start();
  |

And the Lookup class is in the xml:

  | org.jboss.cache.JBossTransactionManagerLookup
  |

Then during use most examples call for the something akin to the following, but
the lookup always gives me a null.

  | UserTransaction tx = (UserTransaction) new
InitialContext(properties).lookup("UserTransaction");
  | //UserTransaction tx = new DummyUserTransaction(transactionManager);
  | tx.begin();
  | tc.put(node, key, value);
  | tx.commit();
  |

Your pseudo-code snippet implies that there is an easier way for the default
case?

Thank you very much..

[JBoss-dev] [JBossCache] - Re: multiple treecaches - TransactionManagers

2004-11-22 Thread Lehren
On a side note, I do seem to get the safe behavior I want with a SERIALIZABLE
IsolationLevel and access code like (other code from above is unchanged):

  | //UserTransaction tx = (UserTransaction) new
InitialContext(properties).lookup("UserTransaction");
  | //UserTransaction tx = new DummyUserTransaction(transactionManager);
  | //tx.begin();
  | TreeCacheProvider.tc.put(node, key, value);
  | //tx.commit();
  |

Though I would assume that's just because of the SERIALIZABLE spec.

not yet but that would be not super hard to do.

the only interest we see in that is for thing like WSRP (which is not
implemented) where there is network latency.

the code which does that is here

I found that a workaround for this is to set the .NET client to http 1.0. This

I am now getting an "Insufficient method permissions" exception, but this is a

Summary: war isolation issue

Initial Comment:
I am trying to get war isolation to work for the
default configuration of jboss-4.0.0, The issue I have
is that there exist a older version of castor in
default/lib folder and I need to use a newer version, I
know I can just remove it but the problem is I am
trying to use war isolation for the classloader or get
the CL to look for a class in the web-inf/lib first
before going to the parent, Here is the jboss-web.xml I
am using

  test.issue.com:loader=issue.war

 java2ParentDelegaton=false

I have tried several options and the only way I can get
it to work is by changing the setting in
jboss-service.xml to false. I
have attached a war file that will dump some xml after
running through castor that is in the web-inf/lib if
the older castor is in the default/lib it will throw a
NPE, I am not sure but I think this will also be the
case in the server/all config.

We are having a similar pbm. Only in our case clash
is over versions of jaxen and dom4j.

Btw we have a .war that works with 3.2.5 through 3.2.
7rc1, and works with 4.0.1rc1. It does _not_ however
work with 4.0.0.

In a couple of hours from now you will be able to
download the war from

http://orbeon.sourceforge.
net/unstable-blds/presentation-server/

When it doesn't work you get a ClassCastException.

When it does you will see something similar to
this :
http://www.orbeon.com/ois/
.

Btw, shouldn't the fact that jboss exposes these
implementation details ( dom4j version ) to
clients be considered a bug?

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss IDE (dev)] - Multiple WAR files in one EAR

2004-11-22 Thread pgatt
I've been searching and haven't found an answer, so hopefully this is the right
place to bring it up.

I've got an EAR that contains multiple WARs. I'd like to place them all inside
of one project, but it seems that it's only possible to specify one webroot in
the jboss  ide.

Is there a workaround for this?

[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Field Interception

2004-11-22 Thread bhakthi
Hi,
AOP is new for me. So i started of exploring with the traditional uses of
aspects .i.e, logging and exceptional handling. Currently i am facing a small
problem in my AOP project - i need to log the 'Field' values which is of
primitive data types. I can trace the read and write invocation but i don't
know how to trace the values. For eg. in case of data base connection i may
need to log the url, server name and so on.

Is there any way to solve this problem?
Please help me.

Thanks in advance.
