Without the JSF Phase listeners, I can input and show japanese characters correctly on utf-8 pages after installing facelets-1.1.11 for the seam package. I recomend the newer versions of facelets. [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: JBPM3 with tomcat
hi, Even i faced the same problem while deploying the 3.1 version of jbpm on tomcat! but finally made it on tomcat. My tomcat version was 5.x and used Oracle 9i as backend! Here are the steps i followed to deploy 3.1 version of jbpm on tomcat. Download jbpm-starters-kit-3.1.1 from Jboss site Deploy jbpm-starters-kit-3.1.1\jbpm-server\server\jbpm\deploy\jbpm.war into tomcat webapps. Copy hibernate.cfg.xml from jbpm-starters-kit-3.1.1\jbpm\src\config.files to ur jbpm-home/WEB-INF/classes/ Run ant task for creating database tables and data from jbpm-starters-kit-3.1.1\jbpm\build.deploy.xml ( ant create.db ?buildfile build.deploy.xml) Add few jars to lib folder of your application. Start tomcat. Start jbpm application. thanks and regards diwa View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3969162#3969162 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3969162 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user

It's very hard to help if you don't post complete, working, code (both bean and view) especially when requested. You should try to create a simple working example of your problem where possible, Also truncating stack traces isn't advised. if you delete the ProcessInstance, all tasks connected to this one will be gone. Or u retrieve the TIs with a similar query like that: | // all open tasks | private static final String FINDTASKINSTANCES = select ti | + from org.jbpm.taskmgmt.exe.TaskInstance as ti + where | + ti.end is null + and ti.isCancelled = false; View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3969174#3969174 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3969174 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user
[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: How to retrieve last taskinstance
u could probably get it from the loggin mechanism: retrieve the right TaskEndLog; with getTaskInstance() u can get the TI. Or u execute directly a HQL Query. I am sure that u can also use the API to get the TIs, maybe: processInstance.getTaskMgmtInstance().getTaskInstances() (3.0.x) View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3969175#3969175 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3969175 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Step-by-step localization guide
You know, most of us in the world are natively speaking not English. So I think that it would make sense to pre-configure Seam samples and seam-gen to produce ready-to-localize applications. I spent last Friday by figuring out how to fill this gap. Here is my step-by-step localization guide compiled from different sources on net: 1) add new supported locale in .../WEB-INF/faces-config.xml for example: locale-config | default-localeen/default-locale | supported-localeen/supported-locale | supported-localede/supported-locale | supported-localeru/supported-locale | /locale-config | 2) Create new messages files, in my example messages_de.properties and messages_ru.properties The 1st obstacle that should be considered here: property files should be UTF-8 encoded and transformed into ASCII by escaping UTF-8 characters (mix of ISO char sets is not advisable in a multi-language web application). Built-in Eclipse properties editor cannot handle this, so I've installed Resource Bundle editor from http://sourceforge.net/projects/eclipse-rbe/ (thank you guys for excellent work!) Alternatively you can use utility from JDK, e.g.: native2ascii.exe -encoding utf-8 messages_ru.txt messages_ru.properties 3) Configure your code editors to use UTF-8. For example in Eclipse 3.2 check settings under i. Window-Preferences-General-Workspace-Text and ii. Window-Preferences-Web and XML-CSS Files, HTML Files, JSP Files, XML Files 4) In order to enable UTF-8 in input fields (the 2nd big obstacle) you will need a phase listener (compensating bug in myfaces and(or) JSF components?) that re-sets request char set to UTF-8. To do this follow instructions found in https://facelets.dev.java.net/servlets/ReadMsg?list=usersmsgNo=1403 (see also discussion here http://www.jboss.com/?module=bbop=viewtopict=73369) and activate the listener in the .../WEB-INF/faces-config.xml file, e.g.: lifecycle | phase-listenerorg.jboss.seam.jsf.SeamExtendedManagedPersistencePhaseListener/phase-listener | phase-listenercom.xxx.yyy.zzz.util.UTF8PhaseListener/phase-listener | /lifecycle 5) Set char set in template(s) to UTF-8: meta http-equiv=Content-Type content=text/html; charset=UTF-8 pageEncoding=UTF-8 / 6) The last, MySQL specific, obstacle eaten much time to find out a solution: force JDBC driver to use UTF-8, otherwise only ? characters will be saved in the database. So extend JDBC url in a data source file, e.g.: jndi-namemyDatasource/jndi-name | connection-urljdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/mydb?useUnicode=truecharacterEncoding=utf8charactetrResultSets=utf8/connection-url | driver-classcom.mysql.jdbc.Driver/driver-class 7) Create database with default UTF-8 support, for example for MySQL: CREATE DATABASE mydb DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_bin; | Note: probably you have to change default tables type to InnoDB for transactions support. You can do this by adding start parameter (or via MySQL configuration file). On SuSE 9.2 this can look so: in /etc/init.d/mysql.server: $bindir/mysqld_safe --datadir=$datadir --default-table-type=innodb --pid-file=$pid_file /dev/null 21 Ready, now you have your native language as static text, data input and database output. I hope this small contribution will save you a couple of hours. And I hope that others in this forum will follow my example and share their experience in more detail, not simply stating: I've solved the problem XYZ! [jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Can you merge multiple annotations in one?
Many of my beans are annotated like this: @Stateful | @Scope(...) | @TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.NOT_SUPPORTED) | @Conversational(ifNotBegunOutcome=main) | @Name(...) Is it possible to create a new annotation that encapsulates all those annotations? e.g. @MyBean(scope=CONVERSATION, name=whatever) This would reduce the code lines slightly and there would be one source for mistakes less (e.g. you won't accidently leave out one of the annotations anymore). And you know the golden rule: Don't repeat yourself ;). Didn't find something like that, and I'm absolutely unexperienced with creating custom annotations. What do you think? Sorry if this is not the appropiate forum but I can't find anything related to JBoss Rules. But, misteriously, when it executes fireAllRules nothing happens. No errors shown anywhere. Am I missing something? | PackageBuilder builder = new PackageBuilder(); | builder.addPackageFromDrl(new InputStreamReader(new java.io.FileInputStream(D:\\noc.drl))); | RuleBase ruleBase = RuleBaseFactory.newRuleBase(); | WorkingMemory workingMemory = ruleBase.newWorkingMemory(); | if(this.nocs==null) | this.listNoCs(); | Iterator it=this.nocs.iterator(); | while(it.hasNext()) | workingMemory.assertObject(it.next()); | System.out.println(Now you should see something:); | workingMemory.fireAllRules(); | | #created on: 31-Aug-2006 | package tal.noc.rules | | import tal.noc.entity.*; | | #list any import classes here. | #declare any global variables here | | rule NOC Id = than 1 | when | noc : NOC(id=1); | then | System.out.println(Found with id eq/over 1); | end | | rule NOC Id than 1 | when | noc : NOC(id1); | then | System.out.println(Found with id below 1); | end | Another question, where should my .drl files be packaged for deployment? I´ve configured my jndi.properties to know the list of ejb servers, like below: java.naming.factory.initial=org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory java.naming.provider.url=jnp\://192.168.101.114\:1100,192.168.101.113\:1100 java.naming.factory.url.pkgs=org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces ~ When JBoss is booting, it stops in the message below. 09:20:52,611 WARN [NamingService] Context.PROVIDER_URL in server jndi.properties, url=jnp://192.168.101.114:1100,192.168.101.113:1100 After some time, it logs the following error: Root exception is java.rmi.RemoteException: Service unavailable. My ejb servers´s JBoss are started and HA-JNDI is enabled by default in the all configuration. What could be wrong? I´m using the release jboss-4.0.4.CR2 Anyone could help? Thanks in advance. Whatever client you use, it must share the same abstract contract (i.e. the server generated WSDL) It does not make sense to talk about a server side WSDl *and* a client side WSDL. Having said that, I know that .NET has issues or does not support rpc/literal. Try document/literal. [jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: J2EE tutorial web services client throws
Thomas I ran the WS tutorial exactly as described by the Getting Started guide. All classpath entries are as defined by the scripts, I didn't change anything. The JDK, JBoss and the tutorial were installed using the standard procedure. My machine has no customization of the classpath. My conclusion is that either the tutorial is not meant to be run using JDK 6.0 beta or the classpath must be customized for it to work. If one of these are true, a think it would be worthy to include it on the tutorial text. [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Confused about variable and token association
Hello. I'm just starting with jBPM and doing some JUnits to test if I understand how the thing works. I'm confused about how execution contexts and variables are bound. For example, I'm trying to setup a simple task with a fork node, the two branches of the fork are implementing a loop with two nodes: One that increments a variable and another one (a Condition node) where the value of that variable is compared with a maximum value and so , choose a transition to the previous node (the incrementer) or go to the join node. My idea was to use variables binded to the execution context, and so, taking in mind that any branch should use it's own token, I could share the same name for the counter variable in the two branches without interaction. But what I get is that it seems that the created variable is always bound to the root execution context. At least, the nodes in the two branches seem to see the same variable. I try to use token bound variables using: ContextInstance ci = executionContext.getContextInstance(); | logger.debug(Executing under Token: + executionContext.getToken()); | ci.setVariable(varName, new Integer(0), executionContext.getToken()); | That log shows a different Token when executing from different branches, as: DEBUG IncrementTokenVar : Executing under Token: Token(/to_incr1) and DEBUG IncrementTokenVar : Executing under Token: Token(/to_incr2) But the log from VariableContainer always shows: VariableContainer : update variable 'localCounter' in 'TokenVariableMap914f6a' to value 'n' Always showing 'TokenVariableMap914f6a' that I suppose is the root token variable map. I'm also confused because ContextInstance has a method: public Object getLocalVariable(String name, Token token); but there's not a complementary one as setLocalVariable or so. What I'm doing wrong? Regards. This is how my ActionHandler for the increment nodes action looks: | public class IncrementTokenVar implements ActionHandler { | static private Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(IncrementTokenVar.class); | private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; | private String varName; | public void execute(ExecutionContext executionContext) throws Exception { | ContextInstance ci = executionContext.getContextInstance(); | logger.debug(Executing under Token: + executionContext.getToken()); | if (!ci.hasVariable(varName, executionContext.getToken())) { | ci.setVariable(varName, new Integer(0), executionContext.getToken()); | } | Integer counter = (Integer) ci.getVariable(varName, executionContext.getToken()); | Integer increment = new Integer(counter.intValue() + 1); | ci.setVariable(varName, increment, executionContext.getToken()); | } | | } | And this is the process XML: ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8? | | process-definition | xmlns=urn:jbpm.org:jpdl-3.1 name=Forker | |!-- start transictions unconditionally to fork1 -- |start-state name=start | transition name=to_fork to=fork1/transition |/start-state | |!-- Forks the process into two branches, doing the same -- |fork name=fork1 | transition name=to_incr1 to=incr1/transition | transition name=to_incr2 to=incr2/transition |/fork | | !-- The first node of the branch where we increment the variable | injected as varName using an ActionHandler-- |node name=incr1 | event type=node-enter | action name=incrAction class=com.jbay.IncrementTokenVar | varNamelocalCounter/varName | /action | /event | transition name=to_repeat1 to=repeat1/transition |/node | | !-- The second node of the branch, where we decide to go to the | previous node or exit to the join1, if the localCounter is greater | or equal than 10 -- | decision name=repeat1 | transition name=repeatLoop to=incr1/transition | transition name=endLoop1 to=join1 | condition#{localCounter = 10}/condition | /transition |/decision | |!-- The second branch, parallel to the first one -- |node name=incr2 | event type=node-enter | action name=incrAction class=com.jbay.IncrementTokenVar | varNamelocalCounter/varName | /action | /event | transition name=to_repeat2 to=repeat2/transition |/node |decision name=repeat2 | transition name=repeatLoop to=incr2/transition | transition name=endLoop to=join1 | condition#{localCounter = 10}/condition | /transition |/decision | |!-- Join the two branches -- |join name=join1 | transition name=to_end to=end1/transition |/join | | |!-- End the process -- |end-state

I'm currently using Apache Derby 10.1 Nature as a project in eclipse (starting stopping the server from inside eclipse) - for testing purposes - and using org.apache.derby.jdbc.ClientDriver driver. since the DB is on the same box the connectivity shouldn't be a problem. thanks for your feedback. [jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - deleting objects in a Collection based OneToMany mapping
I am using Jboss 4.0.4.ga and have a OneToMany like this @OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch = FetchType.EAGER, mappedBy = order) public Collection getLineItems() { return lineItems; } On the other side, I have this: @ManyToOne @JoinColumn(name = order_id) public Order getOrder() { return order; } I persist an Order with one LineItem. I then clear the collection of LineItems and repersist (actually call em.merge(Object) ) the Order. Jboss doesnt appear to delete the underlying row in the LineItem table. I cant understand from the docs if the cascade = CascadeType.ALL implies that the contained objects should be deleted from the datastore when they are removed from a Collection. The docs seem to indicate this is not done for a ManyToMany bc it is not possible to know if the objects that are removed from a collection are still referenced by another entity. However, it does seem that in a OneToMany, JBOSS could know enough to delete the dependent entites from the datastore. Thanks for any help on this one. Not sure if I'm necessarily understanding the issue but... Most times we encounter a LazyInitilizationException when trying to iterate over relationships outside the scope of the session/transaction; when sent to a remote client, for example. perwik wrote : One option would be to see each static content item as one object and then connect a number of translations to it. Then you show the translation corresponding to the current locale using the same rules as the properties files (i.e showing the default locale when the selected locale is not in the list of supported locales). Thank you for the idea, but maintenance question is still open in this case. Or how are you going to populate this object with content: from a data base? Then a custom-made CMS would be necessary to maintain texts in the database... By the way content can require for example html to be included. Properties files don't allow entering html according to my quick test. So I would prefer simple ui:include tag: div class=headerui:include src=/WEB-INF/layout/header#{messages['application.fileSuffix']}.xhtml //div Any concerns? [jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - How to efficiently page object with initialized collections
Hi, I have an entity bean with a collection of items. | @OneToMany(cascade = { CascadeType.ALL}, fetch = FetchType.LAZY, mappedBy =invoice) | @BatchSize( size = 10) | public ListItem getItems() | { | return items; | } | Everything works fine in everyday use. But ocassionaly I would like to perform statistics, which is done through selecting all the entities and performing operation on their items. Because there is a large number of objects I have to page through them in order to not to run out of memory. I made two attempts to solve this problems but both are unefficient and my method timeouts. First approach. My query looks like: | select e from Example join fetch e.items where ... | Then I page through the result set and make my computations on result objects: | int resIt = 0; | ListExample rl = null; | do | { | | rl = q.setMaxResults( 1000).setFirstResult(resIt).getResultList(); | | for (Example e: (ListExample) rl) | { | //my code | } | | resIt += rl.size(); | entityManager.clear(); | | } while (rl.size() 0); | But then I got a warning firstResult / maxResults specified with collection fetch ; applying in memory. I uderstand that when collection is fetched, Hibernate cannot use sql limit because number of rows is not equal to number of objects, and in memory means additional selects. Second approach. I removed join fetch from query. But then items collection are fetched ( in batch of 10) during computatins, which is also slow. I dont want to change the value of batch in mapping. Do you see any solution to my problem? Maybe there is a way to temporarily increase the batch size of the collection (for the duration of my statistics method)? [jboss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Class loader problem!
Hi I'm running into a class loading problem with a service that I'm developing. [jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Re: Detach entities - Obtaining a clear pojo
I'm aware of why LazyInitilizationException's are thrown, and know I could do something like you demonstrated. My point though is this, as I understand things DTO's are no longer fashionable in EJB3 and entiy classes are POJO's which can be populated, then moved between the application tiers. This works fine unless you need to send the object to remote client, in which case you get the issue mentioned above. You can of course do some kind of manual cloning, but isn't doing such a thing very similar to creating a DTO albeit of the same class? Or you can create your own custom serialisation/encoding (perhaps using something like XStream as mentioned by Gavin in the URL), but then are the entities really POJO's if you have to do that? I understand that hibernate needs to add some magic for it to operate, but I'm requesting that there is some kind of method within Hibernate to return a version of the entity (probably a specially constructed instance/clone) with all traces of Hibernate removed. The hibernate cleanser as discussed at http://blog.murf.org/2005/04/06/lazy-loading-and-the-hibernate-cleanser/ proposes a similar thing but I couldn't find any source code. Does anyone else thing this would be a useful function? or am I missing something?
