The change that I have made is adding the properties instance. I have another
file in my directory called jndi.properties, but I still had to put it inside
my code. I am not sure why I need to do it since I already have
jndi.properties anyways its working fine..

Hi, Could someone help me ? My BP is simple: Interface has doSome(parameter) method, where parameter is complex object. First assign after receive must pass this object to invoke of next webservice without any changes in parameter structure. 1)What should I do? 2)Is there some example? 3)Should I create new Type for this parameter in WSDL of BP? I realize that JBoss/MQ is dead because JBoss Messaging is going to replace it in the upcoming JBoss 5. Are there any good quick-start guides for doing this simple thing? In a regular Java program, I would create a worker thread, but obviously in an enterprise environment, we don't want to create threads. Instead we send messages. Hello, i have develop a ServiceMBean wich is using some EJB´s for initializing, and backup data for a application. My problem is that jboss starts my Service bevore the EJB´s are deployed and so i become a javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: testBeans not bound. When i deploy my Service after jboss has been started, my service works fine. Is there a way to say jboss when to start my Service like depend on etc...? The service should start after deploying the EJB´s. [jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - Jboss messaging not picking up messages
Hi, We are using JDK1.5 and Jboss messaging 1.0.1CR4 in production environment. We are using oracle based message persistence as well. The MDB's pick up the messages properly for 2/3 days and after that messages starts backing up in the JMS_MESSAGE table. The server will continue to process other messages coming in, even when there are bunch of messages stuck in limbo state. The number of messages getting backed up gradually increases, still the MDB ignore those messages and processes other incoming messages. The backed up messages in the table never get processed. Even when we restart the Jboss messaging server, it does not pick up the messages existing in the JMS_MESSAGE table. We need to manually clean up all the messages and do a restart and this means, messages are lost. What we would like to understand is - Why Jboss is backing up messages and is there a way to solve it ? - Is there a way to reset the messages in JMS_MESSAGE table so that they get picked up when we restart the messaging service ? Also at times we get the following exceptions in the Jboss messaging server that is backing up the messages. Hi Peter, Thanks for your answer. Clear, unambiguous and easy to implement. I like them that way. ;-) Yes, I am running Gentoo. I am just finished updating everything - new gcc (4.1), new kernel (2.6.18), new KDE (3.5.5) and new everything else, including JDK. When I do date on the command line the time is Aussie time, Sydney, as it should be. So, no problem with the system time. I'll post on the Java forums and see what they say. If I get anything back I'll post it here. I made a mistake with the time zone returned; it is not a USA zone but GMT. We are in summer time and 11 hours ahead of GMT. Thanks again. Hi, I am new to this group. i have download the JBoss 2.0 Beta version. I import examples given with JBoss starter kit. I opened these examples into JBoss IDE. While deploying the application(src.process), i am getting one option SERVER DEPLOYER. This option was not present in the Demo(http://www.jboss.com/products/jbpm - Have a quick look for yourself section). I am not able to understand what should i write here. I think here i need to give path of JBoss Server. But don't know whether i need to give relative path or absolute path. I am not able to deploy the application. Can anybody help me to figure out this problem. Just following up..I mean when the jboss server is up on the same machine where the client is running, it works. When I shutdown the jboss server on the same machine, i get a socket connection error. Thing is it gets the ejb reference from the remote machine, but when it calls methods on the ejb reference, it calls on the local machine. That is when the socket error is thrown. I have deployed this war file along with jboss-portal-ha-2.4.0 and deployed in
all folder.
I am running run -c all in 2 machines in the same network.
I am using load balancer to route the HTTP request to 2 machines.
doEdit() HTTP request is going to JBOSS in machine 1 and it is adding the value
in session. After adding the value in the session i bring down machine1. So the
next HTTP request, doView() is going to Machine2. But the value in the session
variable is coming as null in machine 2.

[jboss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Fail-over not happening for DB Stored Procedure
I am using JBoss 4.0.5. My cluster contains 2 nodes on different App servers on different boxes. I am invoking a Oracle stored procedure through JDBC. The call to stored procedure is from a simple POJO. The problem is, when the active node fails during the execution of the Stored Procedure, the stored procedure is not recovered when the second node takes-over. The invoked request just hangs and there is no trace of it in the second node. From the DB side I observed that the SP execution was also incomplete. Other database interactions (like select, updates etc) are being handled properly. I have tried all means that I could - but in vain. Just a note that I think this problem is more directly related to Trinidad + A4J than it is to tomahawk. I've read elsewhere that re-ordering the web.xml (to adhere to the spec) may help but that has not resolved this issue. My question is if I have an example class like this:

And I have a pointcut like this in my jboss-aop.xml file:
pointcut name=logObject expr=execution(public Log-new(..))/
Is there any way to know, in my Interceptor class by the method invocation, the
class where It is invoked the contructor of the Log object (in this example
class A)?
I ask this because if I use a pointcut like:
pointcut name=logObject expr=call(public Log-new(..))/
I have a NullPointerException in method _getInstanceAdvisor() that I think is
an internal error of Jboss AOP library.
I use Java 1.5 and Jboss AOP 1.5.2 GA with load time weaving an -javaagent
option enabled.
Is there anyone with this problem?

Hi, Our EJB app contains a servlet which runs a number of daemon threads on startup. Threads access entity beans that use common JDBC connections pool. I'm observing strange problems in the following scenario: - daemon calls entity bean finder - (due to our bug) finder generates NPE and fails As far as I can see it all happens without a TX context, so there's nothing to rollback. - another daemon thread tries to get a connection from the pool but hits Transaction is not active. It looks like some connection in the pool gets 'broken', daemon threads can't ever get DB connections after this. After some work, I found a solution to the problem. It isn't from the
selectItem tag. It is a problem of using ajax4jsf with jsf and seam together.
To make it work you must use the region and page ajax4jsf's tags.
The tag page must go after the jsf view tag. This is due a problem of ajax4jsf
and myfaces. More explanation of this is found in the ajax4jsf page.
Then put the combo between the region tag. If you want to refresh something
outside of the region, you have to set the option renderRegionOnly to false

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration Deployment] - netboot with apache server
I installed JBoss 4 and 5 using JDK 1.5 and 1.6, and having an unzipped jboss
distribution in an apache served DAV-enabled directory.
But the startup fails to deploy any service that is not an xml file.
I presume my webdav configuration could be broken, or netboot support is
broken, or another thing I struggle to find.
Can anyone help, what the problem might be?

I am trying to evaluate JBoss eclipse IDE. We are currently using WSAD. WSAD support rapid development and deployment for Struts and EJB. But unlike WSAD JBoss is free. instead of replicating the session.

Hi all, I'm struggling with transaction-rollback in Seam for nearly two days
straight now, tried everything, but it just don't seem to work. I found a

As you can see, I try to persist two objects, the first one succeeds (and is
persisted in the DB), the second one doesn't and throws an exception, causing
the method to return failure and should rollback, but it doesn't: the first
objects gets persisted in the DB, but it should't, because of the rollback.
The two entity beans are two regular, session-scoped beans with nothing
specific in them (I think).
Please help me out.

You can look at the integration with AOP - which is already used in SpringDeployer, but on EJB enterprise beans - how to include similar thing to servlets. The JEE5 spec also supports EJB injection into servlets, but I don't know how far are we with this at JBoss - I know EJB3 team already did some stuff in that direction. I have a bookmarkable page that is opened through s:link. the action method is annoated with @Begin(join=true) in a conversation scoped bean. The s:linke generated url has a parameter cid=2. When I restart my browser and paste the url, I get an error saying that conversaton can't be found and direct me to the home page. Is there an annotation for attributes on Collections that makes the Collection usable for dropdowns, so that it fills the combobox with values, and when a user selects one it gets associated to another attribute of the class. Kind of like @DataModel and @DataModelSelection So far i have set the Collection to be Outjected, but don't know where to go from there. Maybe just point me to the chapter in any seam documentation. So I have a stateful session bean for my page, and in the page users will enter new objects into a collection. But I want the user to stay on the same page while they enter more records. I can have a @Begin to start, and I have a save and cancel button that goes to @End methods. I could add a Save - Continue button that will save but not end the conversation. Is this a good design, or does anyone have better ideas for these type of applications, before adding Ajax functionality to it. [JAAS-RAGE]I have been googling the whole day trying to figure out how to get started with JAAS on JBoss. I already know the non-JAAS stuff, such as annotating session bean methods with roles. I thought I would be able to write my own username/password authentication in a stateless session bean and have it create a stateful session bean with the appropriate role (or should I say Principal), but there seems to be know way to programmatically set the role. Roles seem to be only statically defined. So I am at the mercy of JAAS. But there is absolutely no useful documentation that explains how to use username/password authentication to set the Principle (or whatever it is called). I have looked at the article referenced in the sticky, but all it does is give the inner workings down to every minute detail of how JBoss implements JAAS, whereas all i need is the 5 or so lines that show me how to use it. Does such documentation exist? I also need to know how to actually create usernames/passwords/roles from an admin perspective. There seems to be absolutely zero information about this. It seems like only the implementors of JAAS know how to use JAAS. Or maybe they don't, because if they did then they would probably write a proper tutorial on how to use it (rather than having us indulge their egoes by sifting through reams of waffle only to find nothing useful). It seems like my best option right now would be to screw the 50 layers of abstraction i have to cut through to use this and implement security myself. I'm not sure what XML file i have to edit to change the default portal's pages and portlet arrangement. I have to set up the portal including many portal pages and custom portlets on quite a few different machines and i dont want to have to login and spend an hour settingup the whole portal in the admin tool each time. I am creating JPA/EJB3 entity objects, and am using Hibernate Validation
annotations for some basic constraints. And I definitely like how this
validation framework is leveraged by Seam -- DRY!
But how can I best provide semantic object level validation? For example,
imagine that I have a Bond class with several properties for creating the
coupons:

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. (Note that there are seemingly
redundant checks listed because most of the columns are nullable.)
What is the best practice for enforcing object level validation?
I'm looking for a strategy whereby a validation routine could be executed to
create a list of invalid values, which them Seam could report to the user --
just like other Hibernate Validation annotation restrictions like @Min, @Max,
@Range, etc.

[jboss-user] [JBossWS] - JBossWS vs JBoss WS4EE
according to the JBoss webservice stacks table : http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=WebServiceStacks It indicates that for my version of Jboss appserver (4.0.0) We are using the JBossWS4EE stack, NOT the JBossWS. The reason is that I remembered downloading JBossWS at http://labs.jboss.com/portal/jbossws/downloads This should not be used and installed on my JBoss 4.0.0 env, right ? Also, is JBossWS4EE an additional download on top of the JBoss 4.0.0 download ? I don't think so because I cant find such links and JBoss 4.0.0 already has a jboss-ws4ee.sar under the direcotry.
