[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Seam and OpenLaszlo?
Hi, we have developed and released a very substantial application using Seam http://www.napsa.org.za/portal and had a lot of fun while doing it. My group is now in the process of starting development of a new application. Currently the thinking is to use a more flashy type of presentation layer (e.g. OpenLaszlo or Flash). Obviously I would love to continue to use Seam (I am way too afraid of all the pain associated with the old approaches). At this point I know that Seam does not provide for an easy way (yet) to use these kinds of RIA's (I have read that Gavin is planning something but only after the AJAX support has matured). Does somebody have suggestions of how to use OpenLaszlo with Seam ? [jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: JCR CMS Repository on distant machine
Hello, I have reade some wiki on the web, at JBoss maybe, that explain how to : - deploy a JCR repository (jackrabbit) on JBoss AS with JCA - make it available via RMI But, then you should change JBoss Portal parameter to use that JCR repository you've just defined. I haven't seen yet where changes have to be made. Olivier. [jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: Problems with Jboss and Sun's 1.6 JDK
OK, I wasn't including jboss' jax-rpc implementation as a jdk-endorsed jar (I thought Jboss' implementation should be compatible with Sun's included one). But unfortunately when I include jboss-jaxrpc.jar in the endorsed lib claims that org.jboss.logging.Logger is not found and when that class is included in classpath to fullfill the requirement a long list of messages are thrown (this only means that I'm loosing log, not funtionality), but the problem (the exception at webservice invocation) remains unsolved: Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Failed to initalize plugin: [EMAIL PROTECTED], cause: org/apache/log4j/LogManager Seems that JBoss is having serious issues with JDK 1.6, so going back to JDK 1.5 where all runs OK. [jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - [Clustering Question]What will happen when the crashed serve
Hi all, I am really delighted with JBoss Messaging clustering featuring, especially server and client failover. However, there is still a question about what will JBoss Messaging does, when the crashed messaging server is alive again? Consider this example: There are two messaging servers A and B. Each has one producer and one consumer. So A has one producer p1 and one consumer c1, and B has producer p2 and consumer c2. When A is crashed, p1 and c1 will be failed over to node B. The operator will be notified that A is crashed, then he/she restarts A. If this is happened, A will have no clients. Am I correct or not? [jboss-user] [JBoss/Spring Integration] - Spring module and war deployed separatly
Hello, My question may be considered as off-topic, but let me expose my problem. I would like folks here to share their point of view on my issue. I have a spring module which holds my business implementation. This business implementation is shared between 2 webapps. So what I want to do is to deploy my spring module using spring deployer (what a great feature by the way), and use these beans in my webapps. Both of them are deployed in the deploy dir of jboss. As I also need the beans classes in my webapp, I also need them in the WEB-INF/lib. The classloading problem is approaching, isn't it ? ApplicationContext appContext = WebApplicationContextUtils | .getWebApplicationContext(servletContext); | Object o = appContext.getBean(service.global.idFonctionnel); | ServiceIdFonctionnel serviceIdFonctionnel = (ServiceIdFonctionnel)o; This code leads me to a ClassCastException. I precise that the bean do implements the ServiceIdFonctionnel interface. My questions : Is spring deployer aimed at this kind of deployment scenario ? If so, how should I do to avoid this ClassCastException ? Do I have to play with classloading options of my jboss-web.xml ? If not, this means to me that I can't share spring modules between 2 webapp ? Thank you for your testimonials and answers. [jboss-user] [Persistence, JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - Flushing the AS CMP cache
Does anyone know how to flush the AS CMP cache (without stopping/restarting the AS)? Since turning it on a lot of our unit tests are failing because they setup and teardown data directly in the db before running, the good old AS knows nothing about this and holds the test data from previous tests in its cache, since a lot of the tests use the same test data they start failing. [jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - resource-bundle question
In Chapter 8 in the Seam - Contextual Components there is a topic about resource bundle in seam. I followed the examples and did not make it to work... I have a country.properties file, I?ve put it in WEB-INF/classes and add the following to the components.xml | component name=org.jboss.seam.core.resourceBundle | property name=bundleNames | valuecountries/value | /property | /component | And then I tried to get it like so: | h:selectOneListbox | f:selectItems value=#{countries}/ | /h:selectOneListbox | But I got null exception for countries. Where did I go wrong? [jboss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: Cache v2.0 Alpha2: Optimistic Locking + Explicit Version
I presume that by (1) you meant explicit versioning. The answer is yes, since even when creating a node it could have a version applied to it. As for (2), the explicit version should only be applied to the final (leaf) node, not the intermediate nodes created. They should receive DefaultDataVersions. See testExplicitVersionOnLeafImplicitParentCreation() in ExplicitVersionsTest Do you have a stack trace of these exceptions? Also, could you tell me the list of calls in such transactions that fail? JBossCache 2 will need new compat layers for things like SFSB and HTTP session replication. These are only being done for AS 5. If you need to use JBoss Cache for your own purposes and not for dealing with AS clustering features though, you could *theoretically* use JBC 2.0.0 on AS 4.0.4. [jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Asynchronous callbacks
How can i achieve asynchronous callbacks in a stateless/statefull bean? Scenario: A client send a request to a bean (ie do some processing of some large data). The bean returns a answer immidiately to the client, but wants to be able to tell the client on the progress and the final results. The client has a method which is dedicated to handle these callbacks. How can the bean send asynchronous callbacks to the client? I've tried by sending the Method as a argument to the bean: public String getAsynhcString(Method client, String test) and the client invoke this by: test.getAsynhcString(this.getClass().getMethod(callmeback, String.class), hello); The callmeback method of the client is on this form: public void callmeback(String res) However, when trying this, I get a marshalling exception: java.io.NotSerializableException: java.lang.reflect.Method which is very unfortunately. wondering if there are any suggestions on how i should accomplish my goal? [jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Re: Asynchronous callbacks
Hi ! I think in your scenario a message queue would be helpful: -in the server a queue is configured. -when the session bean method is called it starts pushing status messages to the queue -the client registers to the other end of the queue and receives the messages, until some Finished message arrives. Does this help ? When I create swimlane 'user(username)' everything works fine, but when i change only this swimlane to group(groupname) the assignment don't works. For example: After i have sent task 'accept' to a group 'boss', in the table jbpm_pooledactor a new row come into being with column ACTORID_: 'boss'. But in the table jbpm_swimlaneinstance the (task 'accept')'s swimlane's actorid is null. Is that correct? best regards! [jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - Re: JMS Exceptions / Mismatch of JBossSerialization version
Hi, After some further experimentation I think I finally found the critical part. I can reproduce the misbehaviour by adding a trivial ExceptionListener to the connection of the topic example included with the Messaging distribution (org.jboss.example.jms.topic.TopicExample): | ... | connection = cf.createConnection(); | connection.setExceptionListener(new ExceptionListener() { | public void onException(JMSException jmse) { | } | }); | ... | You also have to take care that the subscriber is running for some time (e.g. suppress publishing the message it is waiting for and extending the waiting time to, say, a minute). During this time you can look at DEBUG output and/or repeatedly run netstat to see that a new connection to the messaging port is opened and closed every two seconds: | ... | [java] 11:59:37,410 DEBUG @main [MessageIdGeneratorFactory] checked out MessageIdGenerator for server.0, reference count is 1 | [java] 11:59:38,160 DEBUG @main [JBossSession] attempting to create consumer for destination:JBossTopic[testTopic] | [java] 11:59:39,457 DEBUG @Timer-0 [MicroSocketClientInvoker] Setting ClientSocket class name to: org.jboss.jms.client.remoting.ClientSocketWrapper | [java] 11:59:39,457 DEBUG @Timer-0 [SocketClientInvoker] Setting SocketClientInvoker::timeout to: 1000 | [java] 11:59:39,457 DEBUG @Timer-0 [MicroSocketClientInvoker] Setting ClientSocket class name to: org.jboss.jms.client.remoting.ClientSocketWrapper | [java] 11:59:39,457 DEBUG @Timer-0 [SocketClientInvoker] Setting SocketClientInvoker::timeout to: 1000 | [java] 11:59:39,472 DEBUG @Timer-0 [MicroRemoteClientInvoker] connect called for: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | [java] 11:59:39,472 DEBUG @Timer-0 [MicroRemoteClientInvoker] disconnect called for: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | [java] 11:59:41,472 DEBUG @Timer-0 [MicroSocketClientInvoker] Setting ClientSocket class name to: org.jboss.jms.client.remoting.ClientSocketWrapper | [java] 11:59:41,472 DEBUG @Timer-0 [SocketClientInvoker] Setting SocketClientInvoker::timeout to: 1000 | [java] 11:59:41,472 DEBUG @Timer-0 [MicroSocketClientInvoker] Setting ClientSocket class name to: org.jboss.jms.client.remoting.ClientSocketWrapper | [java] 11:59:41,472 DEBUG @Timer-0 [SocketClientInvoker] Setting SocketClientInvoker::timeout to: 1000 | [java] 11:59:41,472 DEBUG @Timer-0 [MicroRemoteClientInvoker] connect called for: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | [java] 11:59:41,488 DEBUG @Timer-0 [MicroRemoteClientInvoker] disconnect called for: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | ... | This is not the initial problem of this thread (JMS Exceptions / Mismatch of JBossSerialization version), but I'm rather certain that it is related to this issue, as it leads to connection timeouts. Anyway, the frequent connection creation is a problem on it's own right. [jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: resource-bundle question
You can't use a message bundle like that - it's for internationalisation of messages, not iteration. You'll need to use a Collection of some sort in a backing bean or specify them in the view descriptor itself (use f:selectItem). If, by your second question, you're asking how you get a message in a backing bean (seam component): ... | @In(create=true) | private Map messages; | | | public void foo() { |... |String message = (String) messages.get(foo); |... | } | ... [jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: Single sign-on
Our web application is written using struts and I am using the struts bridge in order to allow it to run under the JBoss Portal. The logon JSP page for our web application invokes an Java action to handle the authentication. I am not sure whether for the portal we should first make the user pass authentication or whether we should show the portal and only require authentification when the user tries to access a protected area. If we require initial authentification then I need to invoke our logon JSP when the portal starts up. I can only guess that this would need to be done by modifying tomcat? If we defer authetification then I am not sure how to cause the logon to occur when the user accesses a protect page or portlet. [jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Re: Asynchronous callbacks
I managed to do it with a little hack. Instead of passing the Method as an argument, i passed the client object itself as an argument. This means that the method in the bean was changed to: | public String getAsynhcString(Object client, String test) | The client calls the bean with: | String tmp = test.getAsynhcString(this, hello); | This works, and in this example it would be: | Method met = client.getClass().getMethod(callmeback, String.class); | met.invoke(client, lovely); | There are several downsides to this, however. I have to extract the method, which means that i must know the method name and arguments. This is bad for generic method callbacks. It could be solved by annotations I suppose, but that only introduce more hacks. Anyone know how I can do if differently? Suggestions and ideas are much appreciated. [jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - Re: Conversation problem
I tried the following scenario: Page /object_details.xhtml is designed to show details of my particular object. I tuned pages.xml to map request parameters (such as objejctId) to properties of my SFSB backing the page. And my custom page action was marked as @Begin. I realized that in spite whether I'm using AJAX (IceFaces in my case) or not, Seam call that action method every time. So at the second attempt, when Seam tries to invoke action that is binded on a button on the page, it invokes @Begin method again and suggest annotating with @Begin(nested=true). That's a problem of Seam design - it provides us with myriads of possibilities, that are not working in combination some times :) In my case I succeeded with introducing a fake page that does nothing but accepting parameters and invoking page action. Page action method returns reference to another page. It helped me to omit reentering into new conversation. In other words you need to address your conversational page through the fake page, that does all preparation work for you. I'm not really following you here but, here goes h:outputText value=#{messages.china} / would work if you had a key called china in your message bundle (by default messages.properties). I'm not sure what you mean by 'load more resources', but, if you mean to split your message bundles into multiple files, then yes, put the xxx.properties on the classpath and tell Seam about them in components.xml. You probably don't want to use f:loadBundle (at least I assume thats what you mean by a 'bundleLoader') but use Seam's message bundle support instead. The EJB will be destroyed when the conversation is removed. Marking a method @End doesn't actually end the conversation, but demotes a long-running conversation to a temporary conversation. The temporary conversation will be destroyed at the end of the current (JSF) request. As Vladimir says there are many ways to do similar things in Seam. Other options for starting coversations include using (just add s:conversationPropagation type=begin on the link that takes you to the page - I find this is often the one I use), using a @Create method marked @Begin so that the conversation is begun when the bean (EJB) is created, using @Begin on a factory method to similar effect, using a page action and marking the conversation @Begin(join=true), using pageflows... Try to use the examples and the reference manual to guide you through. You could also try the Seam book by Yuan and Heute. For what we have seen (understood), magnolia is more a portal than a CMS. And we have chosen JBoss Portal yet. What we plan to do is to use the portal to publish documents, with all the portal features for many access and users (not always logged). and to use Alfresco to write and manage the content. we plan to do it this way : The portlet will access the content from the Alfresco repository, as read only (to show it to the users). We will use the Alfresco web app to write the content (internal team, not many users). We will use the WCM version of Alfresco, the one that is now in preview, to be able to do some XML Authoring (building document with the content in XML and the presentation layer aside, with some composition rules applied when building). lot of work to have all this work, but interesting to get these result, with each tool used for what it was made for. I don't understand what you're trying to do here. Fqn.fromString() is meant to convert a String to an Fqn. [jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: JCR CMS Repository on distant machine
I don't know much about Magnolia. here under is just my opinion. what made us go to Alfresco is : - a good tool for content editing, that can work with jboss portal (and a good classic repository and CMS tool). - the XML Authoring : being able to compose content with several pieces and make the presentation layout at the end. That is to have a form to type the content in xml format, and then use this to build the content document, with some presentation transformation. - the WCM feature, to edit the content and the source code in the same time and use some sandbox to have several person work at it independantly. the first is a good thing we need. the second is great : we haven't seen a open source global software offering this feature (as part of the more general and usual CMS features). the third is more for the potential, for later... but it s a great feature. the bonus with alfresco : brand new, nice and powerfull architecture. if you are not looking for a mature software that as run for a few years yet, then alfresco looks good. [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration Deployment] - Tomcat to JBoss Conversion - tomcat context files
Currently we have some apps deployed to Tomcat and are working on migrating those apps to JBoss. Currently all of our web applications are running on Tomcat. I have a question about how to replicate a useful Tomcat configuration in JBoss. In our CATALINA_BASE/conf/Catalina/localhost directory we are making use of context files on our development instances to greatly simplify the development process. Here is an example of one of the files that we have in the conf/Catalina/localhost directory. | Context docBase=C:\data\dev\code\myApp\target\myApp | reloadable=true | privileged=true | antiResourceLocking=false | antiJARLocking=false | WatchedResourceWEB-INF/web.xml/WatchedResource | WatchedResourceWEB-INF/config/struts/struts-config.xml/WatchedResource | WatchedResourceMETA-INF/context.xml/WatchedResource | /Context | This effectively causes Tomcat to load the application from the docBase directory rather than actually deploying the war file to the webapps directory. This is very useful in our web application development as we can then use maven to do things like run maven war:war-resources to copy a changed jsp file while the application is live to try out a new jsp file. This is much much faster than copying the war file to the webapps directory. I have been unsuccessful in getting this to work in JBoss. Is there a section of the Knowledge Base or manual that explains how to set something like this up? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. JBoss classloading model is flat, this means that all apps in deploy dir can eventually 'see' each other. Two possibilities. First, maybe exploded directories would help you. See http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=ExplodedDeployment. Since the war is a directory tree rather than a file, it is easy to replace or add files without restarting the whole app. The other possibility is to add new directories to the main deployment scanner. You can do this via the URLs attribute on the jboss.deployment:type=DeploymentScanner, flavor=URL MBean defined at the end of server/xxx/conf/jboss-service.xml file. Hello I'm trying to configure a very simple login system using LdapLoginModule. I had never worked with LDAP, so, searching the web and the jboss wiki I found the LoginModulesTestCase which works perfectly for me adding my personal configuration. Following this example, I developed my first version, and it works fine: LoginAction: | @In(required = false) | @Out(required = false) | private Usuario usuario; | | /** | * Hard coded login configurations for the test cases. The configuration | * name corresponds to the unit test function that uses the configuration. | */ | | static { | try { | Configuration.setConfiguration(new LdapConfig()); | } catch (Exception e) { | e.printStackTrace(); | } | } | | static class LdapConfig extends Configuration { | public void refresh() { | } | | public AppConfigurationEntry[] getAppConfigurationEntry(String name) { | AppConfigurationEntry[] entry = null; | try { | Class[] parameterTypes = {}; | Method m = getClass().getDeclaredMethod(name, parameterTypes); | Object[] args = {}; | entry = (AppConfigurationEntry[]) m.invoke(this, args); | } catch (Exception e) { | } | return entry; | } | | AppConfigurationEntry[] BibliotecaLdap() { | String name = org.jboss.security.auth.spi.LdapLoginModule; | HashMap options = new HashMap(); | options.put(java.naming.factory.initial, | com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory); | options.put(java.naming.provider.url, ldap://trasgu/;); | options.put(java.naming.security.authentication, simple); | | AppConfigurationEntry ace = new AppConfigurationEntry(name, | AppConfigurationEntry.LoginModuleControlFlag.REQUIRED, | options); | AppConfigurationEntry[] entry = { ace }; | return entry; | } | } | | /** | * @see org.fundacion.biblioteca.actions.usuario.ValidarUsuario#login() | */ | public String login() { | | UsernamePasswordHandler handler = new UsernamePasswordHandler(usuario | .getUsername(), password.toCharArray()); | | LoginContext lc; | | try { | lc = new LoginContext(BibliotecaLdap, handler); | lc.login(); | Subject subject = lc.getSubject(); | System.out.println(Subject: + subject); | } catch (LoginException e) { | e.printStackTrace(); | } | | return null; | } | Ok. This works and I could authenticate my users with LDAP (at this momment I don't need roles or groups). My second step was do the same in a pretty way, without hardcoding configurations and adding everything in they configuration file.
