[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Auto-login on JBoss Portal

2008-03-10 Thread sbiwal
Hi,

I'm a newbee to Jboss Portal and am using it as the framework for our project's
portal.
I need to integrate the portal with a Shibboleth login. So basically a user
should be able to select from a list of identity providers, use his login for
that Identity provider and then access the portal. I want that once the user
verifies himself on the Identity Provider, he should automatically login to the
portal.

The username of the logged in user is provided to my application as a parameter
on the request. I don't understand at which point should I intercept the
framework to provide auto-login and then redirect the user to the default page.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

double clicking the run.bat briefly opens console window and closes. Running
from command line prints out 1 new line and from what I can tell, nothing
happens. server.log isn't in the default folder. I only see conf, deploy, lib
folders. I un-hid all hidden files/folders and still theres no server.log.
It's nowhere.

2008-03-10 Thread jaikiran
Ok, i think the problem is with the JAVA_HOME setting. Can you move
(copy/paste) the Java installation to maybe C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_05 instead of the
current C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_05? Then set the JAVA_HOME to:

set JAVA_HOME=C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_05

and then start JBoss from the command line using the run.bat.

Also, note that JBoss is not fully qualified to run on Java 6. However, that's
not the reason why you are seeing this problem. You might run into a different
issue using Java 6 with JBoss-4.2.x, but we have a solution for that too. Let's
get JBoss started first.

nah kidding, from what we can see in our automated testes the code in svn
should work without any problem on jboss 4.* with jdk5 (we have a few issues
with jdk4 though). if you use jdk5 we would be very happy for a reproducable
testcase if you could provide one.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: JBPM, Tomcat6 and Postgres8.2 issue

2008-03-10 Thread mputz
As Ronald already pointed out, without detailed information it's almost
impossible to give proper advice. If you're experiencing problems, these are
usually reflected in the logs, so it's always a good idea to have a look into
these and report any exceptions you can find there.

Right now, I would however point you to the wiki
http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JbpmOnTomcat and verify if what you
have done somehow matches the steps reported there.

Also, here are the contents of my jbpm-console.war I've deployed to Tomcat
6.0.10 for you to check as well (I've manually copied jbpm-j2ee.jar and
commons-collections.jar after the ant run):

  | [EMAIL PROTECTED] webapps]$ tree ./jbpm-console/

  | |   |   |-- asm.jar
  | |   |   |-- bsh.jar
  | |   |   |-- cglib.jar
  | |   |   |-- commons-collections.jar
  | |   |   |-- commons-fileupload.jar
  | |   |   |-- commons-io.jar
  | |   |   |-- commons-logging.jar
  | |   |   |-- dom4j.jar
  | |   |   |-- gravel-14.jar
  | |   |   |-- hibernate3.jar
  | |   |   |-- javassist.jar
  | |   |   |-- jboss-backport-concurrent.jar
  | |   |   |-- jboss-j2ee.jar
  | |   |   |-- jboss-retro-1.1.0-rt.jar
  | |   |   |-- jbpm-identity.jar
  | |   |   |-- jbpm-jpdl.jar
  | |   |   |-- jbpm4jsf-14.jar

  | |   |   |-- jsf-facelets.jar
  | |   |   `-- jsf-impl-14.jar
  | |   `-- web.xml
  |

I wouldn't put the db driver lib in the war, but rather in $tomcat/lib.

Hope this helps.

UPDATE:
MySQl does support XA now
You have to use mysql-connector-java-5.1.5 or newer for successful XA
integration.
I have copied the example script from docs\examples\jca\oracle-xa-ds.xml
and adapted it to my needs.
Now XA is running perfectly. Besides mysql we are using Oracle XE in our
developing environment. This db does not support XA.

For production and Testing we can use a full orace server which does support XA.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Problem with changing backend database to mysql

2008-03-10 Thread mputz
First, if you really want to use the datasource as defined in jbpm-ds.xml, you
should alter hibernate.cfg.xml to resemble this:

  | !-- DON'T USE DIRECT HIBERNATE CONFIGS, USE DATASOURCE INSTEAD --
  | !--
  | property
name=hibernate.connection.driver_classcom.mysql.jdbc.Driver/property
  | property
name=hibernate.connection.urljdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/jbpmbackend/property
  | property name=hibernate.connection.usernameroot/property
  | property name=hibernate.connection.passwordpassword/property
  | --
  | !-- JDBC connection properties (end) --
  | property
name=hibernate.cache.provider_classorg.hibernate.cache.HashtableCacheProvider/property
  | !-- DataSource properties (begin) --property
name=hibernate.connection.datasourcejava:/JbpmDS/property!--
DataSource properties (end) --

Next, do you have users in your database? What does this SQL query return?
SELECT PASSWORD_ FROM JBPM_ID_USER WHERE NAME_='manager'

You can consider integrating using tomcat valve. Read about CAS and JOSSO

user is a reserved word for oracle. Just annotate your field user with
something like

  | @Column(name=MyUser)
  | private String user;
  |

There certainly is interest for this. I would suggest a post on the designer
forum to discuss this and/or a JIRA issue where you can attach code (unit test,
implementation, example).

Cheers,

looking again on your stacktrace it looks like you have some additional
characters in the driver classname - any chance you mistyped or have some weird
encoding enabled on that file with the class name ?

[jboss-user] [JBoss AOP] - Re: Exception to invoke remote object when upgrade to jboss-

2008-03-10 Thread avihaimar
Thanks for the answer.
i spent a lot of time on it.
Just take clean jboss4.2GA, run the ant script which provided by you in order
to upgrade to aop2(CR4).

than i try to call to my stateless from a java client and it failed with the
attach error.

I am suspecting that there is problem with the client classpath. I use with
jbossall-client.jar , which located under jbooss/client ,to connect to the
server. is there a chance that need to update it after upgrade aop in server?

please help!

It is extendable, but indeed not that easily.
- checkout the designer project; use the 3.1.x branch; instructions here:

- look at the plugin.xml for the different ESB node contributions
I am afraid that this requires a fair amount of Eclipse programming knowledge
still.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: JSF Portlet + IPC

2008-03-10 Thread shimonl97
Have same problem here.
I have two portlet one JSF and the other regular portlet. I defined the
listener on the regular portlet and try to change it based on submited value
from the jsf portlet.
The problem is that second portlet is fired but nothing is happened in the
original jsf, the command isn't fired.
Is it true that when you activating IPC the action is not performed for the
caller portlet but just for the target portlet?

[jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - clustered messages stuck on queues

2008-03-10 Thread dave_lund
There's a good chance that this could be related to:
http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBMESSAGING-1245

Messages are getting 'stuck' in the database and I have to restart a single app
server before these messages are delivered

However, this problem only seems to happen very sporadically (around every
10-14 days) on our production environment and hence im hesitent of changing the
prefetchSize before asking the forum.

We are using Jboss AS 4.2.2.GA and JBM 1.4.0.SP3 backed by a mysql 5 database
and JRE 6 on a debian OS. The queues are clustered over 3 servers. We are using
the MessageConsumer.receive(1000) method to receive messages that runs every
1-5 seconds depending on the queue. I know this is happening as some newer
messages are being delivered correctly. The queues all have the following
properties set: Clustered=true and MaxDeliveryAttempts=1

Below are the queue message counts - 99% of these are messages that are stuck
on the queues.
server 1: queueA=357,queueB=0,queueC=51,queueD=8
server 2: queueA=353,queueB=3,queueC=941,queueD=1
server 3: queueA=9,queueC=5,queueC=37,queueD=2

After restarting server 1 using the jboss shutdown.sh script all messages on
servers2 and 3 were sent and then after starting server 1 all messages on its
queues were then delivered. I would doubt our code doing the batching effect if
it wasn't for this re-starting behaviour.

ok,

first aof all, make sure your defined column name are not longer then 20 signs
and your table name are not longer than 30 sign (this restriction belong to
oracle).

Then check out your created tables and make sure, your defined column name are
reflected correct. If not and you can delete your table (i.e. there is no
important data inside), than delet that table and let the entity manager create
a new one. Otherwise you must alter your table definition by using any sql ddl
commands (i.e. alter table xxx ...).

Thanks for your help. You diagnosed the problem correctly.
I was calling commit() on the connection whose autocommit property was set to
true.

But I still have doubts regarding different application servers behaving
differently for that same code(Is it so that only jboss checks the autocommit
property?).

I am not aware of how other AS take care of all this , we are adhering to the
specs .
You got to test the behavior with other AS , I can't explian you the behavior

The workaround is to copy/paste all jars from .sh scripts to your batch file
that are not mentioned there.
Or you can use SVN snapshot or wait for next release scheduled to the end of
March where this is already fixed.

[jboss-user] [JBossCache] - FetchInMemoryState InitialStateRetrievalTimeout

2008-03-10 Thread Sancheski
Hi guys

I am facing a problem when trying to get the state from cache in a 2-clustered
cache enviroment. What a I get from the node which is starting and trying to
get the state from another node in the cluster is:

2008-03-10 11:01:20,630 WARN  [org.jboss.system.ServiceController] Problem
starting service jboss.cache:service=ServicesDataCache
  | org.jboss.cache.CacheException: Initial state transfer failed:
Channel.getState() returned false

As I saw in http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossCacheTroubleshooting
I increased the InitialStateRetrievalTimeout parameter in the cache
configuration file and everything worked fine.
Then, I wanted to test setting the parameter FetchInMemoryState to false so I
could test a different solution (in my case, I do not care using a cold loading
cache) What I got from this test is that some cache attributes (around 55000)
were transferred to the cache that is starting (there are around 9
attributes in the other node)
Perhaps, I am missing some configuration parameter. I am using Jboss Cache
1.4.1.SP8 and JbossAS 4.2.2.GA. Here is my cache config file:

[jboss-user] [Messaging, JMS JBossMQ] - Re: How to persist JMS message in the Oracle Database

2008-03-10 Thread afloom
I'm using 4.0.5, but it should be similar in 4.2.x.

1) A quick search:  http://www.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=ConfigJBossMQDB
2) I believe it's 'jms_messages'.
3) don't understand the question.
4) don't know.

[jboss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - Anything similar to Identity Assertor(Weblogic)/Trust Associ

2008-03-10 Thread sachinkhare10
Hi,
I need to know if there is any functionality in JBoss or Tomcat similar to
Weblogic's Identity Assertor/ IBM WAS's Trust Association Interceptor.
Some docs suggests that this could be implemented using a custom valve.
i have no idea of how this could be done.
Is there any interface that can be implemented, as in weblogic.

Thanks
Sachin

create one (or manually insert records)?

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - context variables not being persisted

2008-03-10 Thread mabogunje
I have jbpm set up using the in memory HSQL DB. I have written a simple unit
test creating process variables on the context instance loke so :

ProcessDefinition definition =
jbpmContext.getGraphSession().getProcessDefinition(Long.parseLong(instanceTO.getTemplateId()));
ProcessInstance instance = new ProcessInstance(definition);
ContextInstance contextInstance = (ContextInstance)
instance.getInstance(ContextInstance.class);
contextInstance.setVariable(name,name);
contextInstance.setVariable(test,test);
jbpmContext.save(instance);

However when I load the instance again, those variables do not exist. Debugging
into my code I find that when the variables are created they exist in a
transientInstances list while the instances list remains null.

I dont know why these variables are not being persisted. any ideas ?

Thanks

2008-03-10 Thread pixel
OK, I've got it working in a single jar. But as I understand it, I can't
reference the PersistenceUnit from one jar in an EJB to another. Is this
correct?

This is my structure:

  | my-ear.ear
  | ---persistence.jar
  | --META-INF/peristence.xml
  | ---ejb.jar
  | --session-beans
  | ---META-INF/application.xml
  |

In my session beans i have

  | @PersistenceContext
  | private EntityManager manager;
  |
but I get an error about a default persistent unit not being defined. I've
tried referencing the persistent unit by name - @PersistenceUnit(
name=PersistenceHCE ) - to no avail. The only way I can get it to work is to
bind it the the global JNDI and perform a lookup. Is this right? All the
tutorials I've found assume that everything is deployed in the same ear/jar

Thanks

[jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: reading didn't help

2008-03-10 Thread PeterJ
One thought, based on your description of what happens when your run run.bat.
You might be running into the findstr issue (see
http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=FindstrCommandNotFound).

If that is the case, you can either follow the instructions provided in that
link, or comment out these lines in the run.bat:

rem Add -server to the JVM options, if supported
  | rem %JAVA% -version 21 | findstr /I hotspot  nul
  | rem if not errorlevel == 1 (set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -server)

(I am not sure why some people do not have findstr in their XP installation.
Are you using XP Home by any chance?)

If that does not work, comment out the @echo off statement at the start of
run.bat and post the output when you run run.bat.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - org.hibernate.SessionException: Session is closed! error on

2008-03-10 Thread chrisrjcox
Hi,

I have an issue where I signal my token into the end-state node at the end
of a process, then get a message org.hibernate.SessionException: Session is
closed!

I have a class which signals a token to move the process from one task-node
to the end-state node.

The end-state node has a action handler which is invoked on node-enter,
once the token.signal(); is initiated {TAG 1} (from the task-node prior),
this works fine. However once this action handler is complete {TAG 2}. And the
token.signal(); is completed {TAG 3}. The token is now in the end-state
{TAG 4} and the jbpmContext.close(); is completed [TAG 5]. Once the Context is
closed and my class is finished (there is no more code to implement) {TAG 6} I
receive a

ok. may be i am using tasks. but this does not still solve my problem

i got a start node. from this point i want to deliever the workflow to three
different users, each with different to do for the workflow, e.g. collect some
information, make a phone call, create a document. how do i model this scenario
in jbpm?

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: context variables not being persisted

2008-03-10 Thread mabogunje
Actually I am closing the context, here is the full code :

JbpmContext jbpmContext = s_jbpmConfiguration.createJbpmContext();
try
{
ProcessDefinition definition =
jbpmContext.getGraphSession().getProcessDefinition(Long.parseLong(instanceTO.getTemplateId()));
ProcessInstance instance = new ProcessInstance(definition);
ContextInstance contextInstance =
(ContextInstance)instance.getInstance(ContextInstance.class);
contextInstance.setVariable(name,name);
contextInstance.createVariable(test,test);
jbpmContext.save(instance);
}
catch (Exception e)
{
throw new WorkflowEngineException(e.getMessage(), e);
}
finally
{
jbpmContext.close();
}

Also when I look in the ProcessInstance object during runtime, there are
instances and transientInstances, however instances remains null, while
transient instance contains my ContextInstance and LoggingInstance. As I add
variables, they are being added to my transient instance. Is that correct ?
That seems like the reason they are not being persisted but I dont know why its
happening.

Thanks for all your help

Excuse me,

Please, could you put a processdefinition example for this task node usage? How
can you make the synchronization process for when all three they got their
work done, the workflow will go to an end node? Please any suggestion would be
appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Mistake with signalling

Hi All,

I have the following sequence TaskNodeA - TaskNodeB and TaskNodeA.taskOfA is
set as no signalling (the checkbox signalling in designer is no checked) But
when I make TaskNodeA.taskOfA.end() the action handler set for
TaskNodeB.taskOfB is called. Is it correct ? TaskNodeA.taskOfA is set to no
signalling.

Thank you very much in advance.
Best regards,

[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - Re: howto change projects' database connection?

2008-03-10 Thread daveyx
oh my lord,

thanks max, now i can see it too :-(

my fault:
i copied the hibernate.dialect-propertyline from a internetpage in my browser
to jboss tools, but eclipse showed the right syntax without any weird characters

i copied the line to a console an that gave me the following:

  |  org.hibernat-e.dialect.PostgreSQL-Dialect
  |
thus hibernate told me the right exception, because such a dialect is not
available
i only was to blind, because the console ouput did not dispay the weird chars,
but when creating my question here i copied the weird chars too :-)

anyway, it would be nice if jboss tools would provide a gui to change the
databaseconnection like building a new seam project

properties-project facets-modify project... i went this way thousand times,
this would be the right place

once again, thanks a lot max

[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - SVN Project Preferences File Incorrect

2008-03-10 Thread arnieOag
The preferences file referenced by this article
(http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=UsingEclipse) is wrong.

File http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/portal/
trunk/build/ide/eclipse/3.2/team/anonymous-projectSet.psf

references directories that are not present on the SVN server. What I found is:

http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/portal/branches/JBoss_Portal_Branch_2_6/

and after editing the psf file to match the listing of folders I was able to
download most projects.

Nothing can build however, as the Build Path appears to be wrong.

Is there an updated/corrected version?

Thanks for the reply, but the psf file for Eclipse is broken (there is no

[jboss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: locking CacheSPI

2008-03-10 Thread mircea.markus
anonymous wrote : When our application decides to write to the cache, it needs
to check what's already at the node that's there, and then depending on what it
finds, it may choose to put the new object in the cache in the same node, or it
may decide not to. It's important that a different thread doesn't change the
object at that key in that node in between the read and the write. Locking
behavior is what we want - the other thread should wait until the first thread
is done before writing.
  |
you should open a transaction (REPETABLE_READ) which would only commit after
the write. This will assure that the read data won't be modified by other
thread until commit/rollback takes place.

[jboss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: Define CacheLoader for different Regions

2008-03-10 Thread mircea.markus
This shouldn't be too hard to implement, though. You can extend cache loader
with a custom one, which would filter request and delegate to JDBCCacheLoader
when needed.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: How to build custom User/Role/UserProfile/Membership Mod

2008-03-10 Thread arnieOag
I'm trying to download the code base for the portal so I can eventually code
and test my replacement modules for the ones listed at the top of this thread.

The eclipse PSF file references directories that aren't under the SVN path. The
line:

has a path (http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/portal/) which has no trunk under
it:

*  admin/
* archives/
* branches/
* demo/
* docs/
* maven/
* modules/
* tags/
* tools/

So the Eclipse-based Team/Check out process has errors. Then build fails
because other projects (like Identity - which it the whole point of this) is
missing.

:(

Identity is a module by itself and codebase is separate from main portal code.
You can check out the code from

2008-03-10 Thread arnieOag
I understand that, I can pull that down w/o issue (assuming
/modules/identity/trunk) is what I need.

But when I go to
http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/portal/branches/JBoss_Portal_Branch_2_7/  and
drill down to
http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/portal/branches/JBoss_Portal_Branch_2_7/build/ide/eclipse/3.2/team/anonymous-projectSet.psf
 save that file locally and then try to use it, I get:

Error Getting Dir list from Eclipse and the process fails.

Shouldn't this file be correct in matching the folder structure? The list below
does not match what's in the file.

[jboss-user] [Persistence, JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - Oracle prepared statement with cursors fails with Datasource

2008-03-10 Thread jwinterf
From a servlet in JBoss 4.05GA, we are trying to access an Oracle 10g database
and execute a PreparedStatement that uses cursors for sub-results.
The point is to use this result to build an xml document through an
OracleXMLQuery.
The libs are ojdbc14, xsu12, xmlparserv2, versions 10.2.0.2

The query goes like so (sanitized version, see full below):

  | select
  |   field,
  |   cursor(
  | select *
  | from other
  | where other.field = table.field
  |   ) sub
  | from
  |   table
  |

If the connection to the database is created with a DriverManager, all is fine,
and we get the expected result, that is:

  | ROWSET
  |ROW num=1
  |  fielddata/field
  |  sub
  |sub_row num=1
  | --sub fields--
  |/sub_row
  | et caetera
  |

However, using a DataSource does not: the result is (translated):

  | ERRORoracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: ORA-00604: error occurred at
recursive SQL level 1
  | ORA-01000: maximum open cursors exceeded
  | /ERROR
  |

I have had a look around the net as to the use of cursors, oracle and
datasources, but all i found was problems with unclosed statements c. building
up to cause the problem. In this case the problem is immediate and ever-present
in the Datasource case and never in the DriverManager. I also found a case
about using a prepared call that retuns a REF Cursor, but I don't think it
applies since this is a prepared statement.

The source of the minimal servlet used to reproduce the problem follows:

  | /*package  imports*/
  |
  | public class StatementServlet extends HttpServlet {
  |
  | String query = select platform_code, cursor(select * from cycle_voyage
where cycle_voyage.platform_code = platform.platform_code) cycles from platform
where platform.description = 'Japan';
  |
  | @Override
  | protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse resp)
throws ServletException, IOException {
  | boolean ds = Boolean.parseBoolean(req.getParameter(ds));
  | resp.setContentType(text/plain);
  | try {
  | String result = (ds? workDS(): workDM());
  | resp.getOutputStream().print(result);
  | } catch (Exception e) {
  | e.printStackTrace(new
PrintStream(resp.getOutputStream()));
  | e.printStackTrace();
  | }
  | }
  |
  | protected String workDM() throws Exception {
  | DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver());
// NOT oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
  | Connection connection =
DriverManager.getConnection(jdbc:oracle:thin:@--host--:--port--:--service--,--user--,--pwd--);
  |
  | PreparedStatement ps = connection.prepareStatement(query);
  | ResultSet resultSet = ps.executeQuery();
  |
  | //get XML result
  | OracleXMLQuery oxq = new OracleXMLQuery(connection, resultSet);
  | oxq.useNullAttributeIndicator(false);
  |
  | String result = oxq.getXMLString();
  | resultSet.close(); ps.close(); connection.close();
  | return result;
  | }
  |
  | protected String workDS() throws Exception {
  | Context envContext = (Context)new
InitialContext().lookup(java:);
  | DataSource ds = (DataSource) envContext.lookup(--ourDs--);
  | Connection connection = ds.getConnection();
  |
  | PreparedStatement ps = connection.prepareStatement(query);
  | ResultSet resultSet = ps.executeQuery();
  |
  | //get XML result
  | OracleXMLQuery oxq = new OracleXMLQuery(connection, resultSet);
  | oxq.useNullAttributeIndicator(false);
  |
  | String result = oxq.getXMLString();
  |
  | resultSet.close(); ps.close(); connection.close();
  | return result;
  | }
  | }
  |

The DataSource is defined in it's own -ds.xml file thus:

  | datasources
  |   local-tx-datasource
  | jndi-nameourDS/jndi-name
  |
connection-urljdbc:oracle:thin:@--host--:--port--:--service--/connection-url
  | driver-classoracle.jdbc.OracleDriver/driver-class
  | user-name--user--/user-name
  | password--pwd--/password
  | min-pool-size5/min-pool-size
  | max-pool-size100/max-pool-size
  | !-- Checks the Oracle error codes and messages for fatal errors --
  |
exception-sorter-class-nameorg.jboss.resource.adapter.jdbc.vendor.OracleExceptionSorter/exception-sorter-class-name
  |   /local-tx-datasource
  | /datasources
  |

I'm stuck on this one... I don't think I'm asking too much from the
Datasource... more likely I'm missing some config parameter.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.
Jonathan

[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - JBoss Tools using Latest Seam

2008-03-10 Thread sandman202
When will JBoss Tools be updated using the latest Seam version? It looks like
it is only using v1.2

Also, if a project is created using the seam-gen (outside Eclipse), is there a
way to let JBoss-Tools know this, in order to use the Seam tools inside
Eclipse?

I am assuming that the project - properties - Seam Settings is the place to
do this, but once again it uses v1.2 and I created the project using 2.0 seam.
