[jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - DashBoard Functionality is not happening properly
Hi, We are using jboss-portal2.6.1ha.sar and oracle 10g as our database. When we deploy the jboss-portal2.6.1ha.sar to the jboss4.05 GA with 3 nodes cluster and apache as webserver, when all the 3 nodes are up the dashboard functionality is not happening properly. I am explaining the behaviour clearly here when i click the edit dashbord link and create a new page it is not happening. After two or three tarils it is listing in the dropdown box. Then when i try to add a portlet to the page it is not happening, it is always selecting the default page. After all this exercise when i went back to the dashboard by clicking on the dashboard link, i am getting the 500 error. After few refreshes i am getting the dashboard page normally. This is the behaviour i am facing when all the 3 nodes are up. When only one node is on the behaviour is differnt. The dashboard functionality is working without any problems. What is the solution for this problem. I am also upgraded the jboss-cache.jar to 1.4.1 version and jgroups to 2.6 Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem , how can i make the use of the dashboard functionlity when all the 3 nodes are up? Once again i am repeating the configuration that we use jboss-portal2.6.1ha.sar jboss4.05 GA server with 3 nodes as cluster and apache webserver to handle the requests oracle 10G as our database server cache upgraded to jboss-cache 1.4.1 sp8 and jgroups 2.6 Thanks, Venkat. Dunno if it helps but there JBoss services that you can extract info from about it's state. Maybe have a servlet that extracts data from jboss.system:type=Server (Started f.i.)and returns it. Then your tool would have to see if the contents matches what is expected. [jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Re: Dynamic deployment for EJB3 component
That should not be a problem if you make sure to have your data sources configured with one unique jndi-name. Yes, the jndi name in the persistence.xml is static, but it does a name lookup and as long as your *-ds.xml maps the database to the same name, it could just work. Just note that this presumes that only *one* *-ds.xml uses that jndi name. Yes, it is possible. I have not done so myself but I know it is possible. Sadly a quick google search did not give any usable results, so you will have to do more investigation. On a general note: I highly suggest you try to get info yourself first. People often do not even respond to threads like this. Take the first steps yourself and people will be happy to help. hi, I have a jms sender which sends message to a jms Queue. I'm creating the connection once n using it for successive messages to send. Before i used to get SPYJMSException saying to setExceptionListner(). After creating an exceptionListner it went off. In side the ExceptionListenr i'm closing the connection and creating a new connection. Now i'm facing a problem which occures randomly. I'm not able to simulate it. After two or three days of deployment it happens. Do you think we have to create and close the connection on each sendMessage function. [jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: Problems starting Jboss 4.2.2.GA with Portal 2.6.4
Hi Peter, hi Chris, I tried to set up JBoss AS with JBoss Portal from the scratch. Without the installation of JBoss WS this works fine (all config). I installed JBoss WS by using the ant build.xml | ant antfile=build.xml target=deploy-jboss422 dir=jbossws-native-2.0.3.GA | property name=jboss422.home value=.../jboss-4.2.2.GA/ | property name=jboss.server.instance value=all/ | /ant | So, I think WS is correctly installed - it copies just a few files to JBoss AS. Anyway, if the installation is wrong, than this is a topic for another forum. Thanks for your help. I totally agree on your remarks about the WSRP specification and it definitely makes no sense at all to tweak the implementation of the JBoss Portal producer BUT on connecting the same SAP EP to an open Oracle WSRP test portal (http://portalstandards.oracle.com/portletapp/portlets?WSDL) the mispelled/malformed consumer agent string poses no threat to anyone and i can consume portlets, clap my hands and say yeah!. [jboss-user] [JBoss Cache: Core Edition] - Re: FileCacheLoader failing with EOFException with fix
The fix above reduced the EOF exceptions but it did not completely eliminate the issue. I have a shared cache with 2 nodes and file cache loader with nfs (yes, i know that you guys don't recomment it, just building a basic infrastructure to test with). Further debugging revealed the fact that both the nodes are trying to write into the data file at the same time. One of which runs into the EOF exception as it tries to do a readObject on a 0 byte file that is being written into from the other node. Now i am confused, isn't the lock supposed to be across the cluster at the tree cache level, avoiding this issue ? Or am I missing something ? [jboss-user] [JBoss Cache: Core Edition] - Re: FileCacheLoader failing with EOFException with fix
No, it is still possible that one instance performs a read, another instance performs a write, both involving a cache loader. There is no cluster-wide lock at the start. Locking attempts to gain cluster-wide locks during the prepare phase of a 2-phase commit, and the transaction fails if this cannot be obtained. Authorization can't work as while you are pointing your DB for authentication, default portal DB is used for authorization via identity modules. Option would be to enable SynchronizingLoginModule together with DBIdentityLoginModule and sync authenticated user/roles into portal DB. [jboss-user] [JCA/JBoss] - Why JBoss is using XA if I only have local-tx datasources
Hi, As I understand, xa is for distributed transaction between different databases/instances. My JBoss just have local-tx datasources configured. No XA datasources. Why, in this scenario, JBoss still uses XA? There is a reason? I have clustered services enabled, does it relate? Thanks in advance. Looks like it was completed! I must have missed it in the release notes. http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-1658 I would ask, however, what we should do with our existing org.jboss.tools.jst.web.xml project files. We've been doing a bit of modifying for these each time we branch or check out an existing project since the file likes to mess up our JSF settings if Eclipse doesn't like what it sees. Once we upgrade, should we remove this file all together? Thanks for that info, Brian. [jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: WSRP consumer agent trouble
walfreund wrote : | thanks for your reply! | +1 for the musical reference! :) walfreund wrote : | That seems strange to me and makes me question all these standard-conforming marketing phrases around the world. | It is actually not that strange. I have seen enough such cases with the consumer agent not being specification-compliant that I have been tempted to remove the validation several times just so that it is easier for our users. I have several options: 1. Keep a hard line as far as the specification goes. That makes us look like the bad guy as several producers are less strict and so will accept a non-conformant consumer agent (I know of at least 2 big name WSRP consumers that do not generate valid consumer agents). The only recourse then is to have our users who wish to use these WSRP consumers to contact their support and file for a bug... but we all know that with big, commercial products you might not see a fix before a while. 2. Introduce a configuration option to enable/disable consumer agent validation but that makes our code more complex (and using our producer more complex as well) for something that shouldn't even happen if the specification had a TCK. 3. Remove the consumer agent validation altogether because it seems that no one really cares about its format and the specification does not seem to leverage that specific format anywhere else either (i.e. the MUST in the specification might be too strong of a language since there doesn't seem to be a real value in providing a consumer agent formatted that way). The bigger issue here is the lack of TCK with the specification. Interoperability and, ultimately, users suffer from this situation... :( walfreund wrote : | however, I really like JBoss portal and gonna get it running. Word! | Thank you for not giving up on Portal when it would have been easy to do so because we are actually more compliant (on this particular aspect, as we don't claim perfection ^_^) than some of our competitors! :) View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=4137793#4137793 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=4137793 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user

donatsec - it really is a bug in WTP no matter how we fix our application.xml. What if you have an external WAR or JAR module in your EAR that is not an WTP project - then it would not get deployed. nat_tul - most likely because WTP's model haven't at that time picked up the application.xml lines and does not hide the jars from the deployer. [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration DEPLOYMENT] - SUN JDK 1.5 and 6 license changes, and its effects to JBoss
Beginning with JDK 1.5 update 14 and JDK 6 update 4 SUN changed their license texts/files and limited the free use of its JDKs and JREs to certain kinds of applications. Excerpt from from http://java.sun.com/javase/6/jdk-6u4-license.txt / http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/jre-1_5_0_15-license.txt: Usage is allowed on: General Purpose Desktop Computers and Servers means computers, including desktop, laptop and tablet computers, or servers, used for general computing functions under end user control (such as but not specifically limited to email, general purpose Internet browsing, and office suite productivity tools). Excluded are for example: The use of Software in systems and solutions that provide dedicated functionality (other than as mentioned above) or designed for use in embedded or function-specific software applications, for example but not limited to: Software embedded in or bundled with industrial control systems, wireless mobile telephones, wireless handheld devices, kiosks, TV/STB, Blu-ray Disc devices, telematics and network control switching equipment, printers and storage management systems, and other related systems are excluded from this definition and not licensed under this Agreement. This is not clearly limited to embedded systems (see the license file) but includes also function-specific software applications. We are using JBoss and older versions of the JREs/JDKs for applications in the Healthcare area (normal server app, no embedded use), and would head for using newer JRE/JDK versions but are now forced to clarify the legal implications of these newer license conditions. In case of a tight interpretation of these conditions by SUN this might affect also many other JBoss users. Do you have any experiences with these newer license conditions, or clarifications about its consequences for the commercial use of JBoss applications running on the SUN JREs? [jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: How to use Mysql 5 as jboss-portal-2.6.4-bundled databas
There are several services within JBossAS that use a database - messaging, uuid generation, etc. If you want, you can change all of those services to use MySQL. But unless you are actually making use of those services, it is usually easier to just leave them using Hypersonic. JNDI does not use a database. [jboss-user] [Performance Tuning] - Re: 100% CPU usage with lots of memory
The set of GC output you posted at 9:37 looks good. Earlier, all of your GCs were full GCs taking around 10 seconds. Now you have minor GCs taking less than 1/10th of a second. Your post at 10:02 shows that you have overrun the 5GB heap you set. Note the heap sizes both before and after the collection are around 5GB. Now you have to find out why the amount of heap in use jumped from 2.5GB in the 9:37 posting to 5GB in the 10:02 posting. Look at the GC outputs for where the heap sizes started to increase and find out what was going on at that time. If the increase is a jump, then something changed, find out what it was. If the increase was gradual, I would suspect a memory leak. Add -XX:+PrintGCTimestamps to the JVM options - this will let you know when each GC was done (amount of time since the app started). What is the correct way to get a processinstance context variable map if we only want to use it for read-only access to look up variable values outside of a jbpm session? [jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Admin Portlet: Strange Behavior with Oracle-DB
Hi, using this setup * Version: jboss-portal-2.6.1.GA and jboss-portal-2.6.4.GA * Download Version * JBoss AS Version: 4.2.1.GA (build: SVNTag=JBoss_4_2_1_GA date=200707131605)] and 4.2.2 * Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production With the Partitioning and Data Mining options * JDBC Connector and Version: ojdb14.jar (10.2.0.1.0 and 10.2.0.4.0) * OS Platform: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (i586) * Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_11-b03) i have a rather strange behavoir when using the admin portlet. Adding a property to a page or modifying a user does not work as expected. The data seems to be written to the oracle database but it is NOT shown in the admin portlet. Using a mysql 5.0.26 database with the same setup does work as expected. This seems to a strange effect, as it affects 2.6.1 and 2.6.4 without any modification. Is this a known bug (i have found nothing in the jira) or could it be related to the setup of the oracle database? Oracle seems to be a quite popular database, so i am under the expression that this could be a bug with portal 2.6.1 AND 2.6.4? Thanks in advance! [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: use existing Users from an other system
I am working with the exact issue right now: that is, how do you implement users, roles, and permissions in jBPM without using the jBPM built in tables. Is that an adequate re-statement of your question? In our situation, we have to pull user, roles and permissions (U/R/P) from an existing corporate system. I know that I can change hibernate to NOT pull those tables, but this opens several questions: 1. If we use an external source for our U/R/P, can they still be used by JBPM to enforce swimlanes, etc. 2. Can we just point hibernate to external tables for U/R/P and still have it work? 3. Is the easiest way to do this use a third table to associate external and jBPM tables? Thanks in advance... This is transactionally unsafe and should not be relied upon. Current resource is [EMAIL PROTECTED] - As I could see JBossTS does not allow more than one 1PC resource per transaction. I follow the following post â âAccessing JNDI over HTTPSâ http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/jboss/jboss-eap-4.3/doc/Server_Configuration_Guide/html/JNDI_over_HTTP-Accessing_JNDI_over_HTTPS.html I run the example attached and trace the transport layer with âWiresharkâ. I noticed that the protocol type is TCP and not SSL or TLS, is this ok? How can I verify that the data is encrypted? Thank you View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=4137891#4137891 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=4137891 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user
