[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - JBoss Tools Palette is not desplaying the tags

2008-10-17 Thread speleomaniac
Hallo everybody,

I have a funny problem with JSF Tool Palette...

All the tag libraries names are there JBoss Ajax4jsf, JBoss Richfaces, JBoss
Seam, JSF Core, etc...

But when I click to them they are not dislaying the tagsI know when I first
installed the JBoss Tools 2.0.0.GA they were there. I regularely updated the
JBoss Tools (now 2.1.2.GA) somewhere in the line, these tags were disappeared.

When I look the web Project view the tlds are there but as I said they are not
displayed in the pallette.

Just to test I started a brand new JSF project but even there they are not
displayed.

So anybody has an idea what it can be...

Thx in advance

Hi,
Can you try to switch workspace to new one? (File->Switch Workspace->Other...)
Do you see the tags in Palette in new workspace?

There is a Feature Request in JIRA
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-2712
We are going to add a button to let user restore default palette.

speleomaniac - this is not the first time we have heard users having issues
when m2eclipse is installed.

Could you report it in jira with steps on how we can reproduce so we can look
into it and fix it our side or identify what m2eclipse is doing and report it
to them ?

[jboss-user] [JBoss Cache: Core Edition] - Patch available on JBOSS3.2.6 which will have Tomcat latest

2008-10-17 Thread anaghah_dolein
Hi,

We have deployed our web application on JBOSS3.2.6. We run one security tool on
that its report has displayed one vulnerability issue as

QID: 86789 CVSS Base: 4.3 [1]
Category: Web server CVSS Temporal: 3.4
CVE ID: CVE-2005-2090
Vendor Reference: Apache Tomcat 4, Apache Tomcat 5, Apache Tomcat 6
Bugtraq ID: 13873
Modified: 07/14/2008
Edited: No
THREAT:
This vulnerability exists in Apache Tomcat Versions 4, 5 and 6 when the server
doesn't reject multiple content length header requests.
IMPACT:
When these kinds of requests are processed by firewalls, caches, proxies and
Tomcat, they may result in Web cache poisoning, XSS attack and information
disclosure.

When we search for this issue on Tomacat site we found its fix on Tomcat 5.5.23
version.

So do we have any patch on JBOSS3.2.6 which will encorporate this issue fix or
latest tomcat.
2) Or do we have procedure where we can configure some this tomcat version by
disabling the default one availabe in server.

http://tomcat.apache.org/security-5.html

Regards

Hi!

You can find a simple example in our tutorial:

http://www.jboss.org/jbossaop/docs/1.5.0.GA/docs/aspect-framework/examples/dynamic-aop/dynamic.html

The code for this example is available on all our releases, which means you can
play with it, changing the code to see how changes affect the result.

Regarding the tutorial, I need specific questions to clarify what you're not
understanding.

I am trying to inject it in another EJB, but I don't know if it makes any sense

I am trying to debug jboss source code and I discovered that container variable

I am using Java 6 and jBoss 5.0.0 RC2.

Thanks a lot.

[jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Re: MBean start ordering in 5.0CR2

2008-10-17 Thread huberth
I've got it.  Try this:

public interface LifeCycle
  | {
  | public void create() throws Exception;
  | public void start() throws Exception;
  |
  | public void destroy();
  | public void stop();
  | }

@Management(LifeCycle.class)
  | @Service(objectName = "myorg:service=MBeanB")
  | public class MBeanB implements LifeCycle
  | {
  | private static final Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(MBeanB.class);
  |
  | public void create() throws Exception
  | {
  | logger.log(Level.INFO, "Creating");
  | }
  |
  | public void start() throws Exception
  | {
  | logger.log(Level.INFO, "Starting");
  | }
  |
  | public void destroy()
  | {
  | logger.log(Level.INFO, "Destroying");
  | }
  |
  | public void stop()
  | {
  | logger.log(Level.INFO, "Stopping");
  | }
  | }

@Management(LifeCycle.class)
  | @Depends("myorg:service=MBeanB")
  | @Service(objectName = "myorg:service=MBeanA")
  | public class MBeanA implements LifeCycle
  | {
  | private static final Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(MBeanA.class);
  |
  | public void create() throws Exception
  | {
  | logger.log(Level.INFO, "Creating");
  | }
  |
  | public void start() throws Exception
  | {
  | logger.log(Level.INFO, "Starting");
  | }
  |
  | public void destroy()
  | {
  | logger.log(Level.INFO, "Destroying");
  | }
  |
  | public void stop()
  | {
  | logger.log(Level.INFO, "Stopping");
  | }
  | }

Then put MBeanA into a.jar and MBeanB into b.jar (the jar names matter - the
relative alphabetical sort order to be precise). Create an exploded ear in the
deploy directory with no application.xml (not sure if this part matters, but
it's what I've been doing) and place the two jars in it.

I get the following logs, indicating they started out of order:

2008/10/17 08:54:18.813 INFO  (main) [com.myorg.common.server.MBeanA.create:36]
Creating
  | 2008/10/17 08:54:18.835 INFO  (main)
[com.myorg.common.server.MBeanA.start:41] Starting
  | 2008/10/17 08:54:18.842 INFO  (main)
[com.myorg.common.server.MBeanB.create:35] Creating
  | 2008/10/17 08:54:18.896 INFO  (main)
[com.myorg.common.server.MBeanB.start:40] Starting

The ear's contents are sorted first by suffix, then by name to come up with the
attempted installation order. Since MBeanA comes first, but can't be installed
yet due to an unresolved dependency, it is skipped. When MBeanB is installed,
we recurse looking for newly resolved dependencies, at which time we find
MBeanB and attempt to install it. Unfortunately, as I mentioned previously,
the create/start methods get invoked only after this recursion.

So the recursion is probably correct, but the great distance (code-wise)
between the state transitions and the invocation of the corresponding life
cycle methods is probably the real problem.

more a Microcontainer bug (as far as i know, that's what resolves the
dependencies) than a EJB3 bug.

[jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - Re: Deployment problem

2008-10-17 Thread rogerio.baldini
Thanks a lot for your time.
I will try to explain better my organization.

I have a BO (EJB) where is injected a DAO (EJB) and this DAO has a injection of
PersistenceContext.

@Stateless(name="PlcBaseBO", mappedName="PlcBaseBO")
@TransactionManagement(TransactionManagementType.CONTAINER)
public class PlcBaseBO extends PlcBaseBC implements IPlcBO, IPlcBORemote {
 @EJB(name="PlcBaseJpaDAO") IPlcDAO plcDAO;
...
}

@Stateless(name="PlcBaseJpaDAO", mappedName="PlcBaseJpaDAO")
@TransactionManagement(TransactionManagementType.CONTAINER)
public class PlcBaseJpaDAO extends PlcBaseDAO implements IPlcDAO, IPlcDAORemote
{
 @PersistenceContext protected EntityManager em;

}

I see in debug mode that the problem is occurring in
Ejb3JBoss5Deployment(Ejb3Deployment).getEjbJndiName(Class)
when it's trying to
deploymentScope.getEjbContainer(businessIntf, relativePath);
with parameters:
interface com.powerlogic.jcompany.persistencia.IPlcDAO
jcompany_modelo-5.1.3-SNAPSHOT.jar

And an important thing: this ear is working fine in Glassfish.

Thanks again.
Rogerio.

Can you post the code of IPlcDAO and IPlcDAORemote including the annotations on
them? And while posting the logs or xml content or code, remember to wrap it in
a code block using the Code button in the message editor window and please hit
the Preview button to make sure your post is correctly formatted. That will
make it easier to understand the code.

2008-10-17 Thread oravecz
A process workflow does not necessarily need access to your Java classes, such
as domain classes or service classes. As the workflow proceeds however, it does
need to interact with your code in order to be useful. If you are deploying
workflow processes to a VM external to your application runtime, jBPM will need
a way to communicate with your code.

Since you suggested a web application, the easiest way would be to make web
service calls from your workflow to your application.

Could you please let us know your packaging of the application? Do you have one
EAR or more than one EAR? And what does each one contain? And what is the
contents of application.xml? And post the output of:

jar -tf myapp.ear

Where myapp.ear is your ear filename (if you are deploying as a jar and not an
ear then post the output of myapp.jar).

2008-10-17 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thanks for the input!

I should have made myself clear on that. Those examples show how to use an API
so, it doesn't matter where you use them, it is up to you and to the needs of
your application.

So, it doesn't matter to which class they belong. It is the same as showing a
tutorial on how to print messages on the screen and tell you where you should
put this code. You are going to use this code wherever your needs require you
too.

In the code fragments, we are basicaly enabling and disabling aspects at
runtime. Where should this code belong to? In a tutorial example, it could be
part of the main method. But, in a real application, it could be part of a
thread, it could be inside of a button listener, or it could be inside of
listeners that enable/disable aspects accordingly to the state of your program,
or something else.

Anyway, I'll try to make myself clearer on the next tutorial :)

Using "run -b 202.66.77.11" is the correct way to do this. You could also use
"run -b 0.0.0.0" in which case you can access the applications using both
localhost and your hostname.

If you dislike typing in the "-b 202.66.77.11" each time to run the app server,
write another batch file which passes that option to run.bat.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - How to configure Hibernate console with entities in many pro

2008-10-17 Thread chawax
Hi,

I have JPA entities that depend on entities defined in another project. For
example I have a t4-core-commons project that depends on a t4-core-utils
project (for example @ManyToOne annotation).

I try to configure hibernate console for these projects. No problem to
configure it on t4-core-utils project. But I can't find how to do with
t4-core-commons : it fails because it can't find entities defined in
t4-core-utils project.

I added t4-core-utils project to the classpath but it can't find them. Also
tried to add t4-core-utils project as first entry in the classpath list :
entities from t4-core-utils are found, but not one of t4-core-commons.

I encountered the same kind of problems with unit tests and solved it thanks to
the property in persistence.xml. Is there something equivalent with
Hibernate Console ?

Thanks in advance,

Olivier

2008-10-17 Thread maykellff
Hi, thank you very much for your answer ligang and oravecz, let me see if i
understand well, i most take adventage from BPM in two diferents ways:

1: BPM inside of my project like a closed silo, in this case the interacions
the processes need to do the job came from my java clases (domain clases for
example)

2: BPM to coordinate, orchestrate or whatever several applicationes for one
process or several processes, in this case there is not direct interaction with
java clases like domain classes but all the interaction with the diferents
applicationes involved is through web services. And this process most defined
inside a new kind of project (a process project) not inside one of the
applications involved.

Are these 2 points correct?

Can you suggest me some tutorial that explain in detail a case of bpm relating
several applications? (using jbpm of course)

Thank you very much,
Maykell.

[jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Client call fails using JBossWS

2008-10-17 Thread tomstrummer
Hi, I have a client that causes a web service to throw a 500 error when it uses
JBossWS to make the service call. For some reason the same request succeeds
when Metro is used. I have WireShark captures of the failed and successful
requests, and there are only a few very minor differences that I can find.

(captures are below).

Here are the differences I see:

1. JBossWS streams the request body, so it sets Transfer-Encoding: chunked and
does not set a Content-Length header. Not that it's excusable for a server to
barf over this sort of thing, but this seems like the biggest difference
between the two. Is it possible to make JBossWS _not_ stream the request?

2. JBossWS adds a "Pragma" header and a custom "JBoss-Remoting-Version"
header. Can't imagine these are the problem.

3. JBossWS omits the XML declaration header in the request body, and happens
to use "env" for the SOAP namespace, while Metro uses "S." Again, I don't
imagine this is the problem, but just for kicks, can this be customized?

I'm going to use curl to see if I can't narrow down the problem further.
Unfortunately the actual text message that the server responds with on the 500
error is generic and doesn't provide any insight into the problem.

Thanks for any insight.

Good request:

[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - Re: How to configure Hibernate console with entities in many

2008-10-17 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
hibernate console should just pick them up for you by being in the classpath of
the project - if not its a bug.

 should also work, but you would need a jar file to be present ;)

[jboss-user] [JBoss Tools (users)] - Re: How to configure Hibernate console with entities in many

2008-10-17 Thread chawax
Thanks Max.

My other projects are mavenized, so I have the needed jar file :) But where
should I set ejb-jar ? Do I have to do it in a persistence.xml file ? If so,
does Hibernate look for persistence.xml file in classpath (this would be a
problem for me since I have different persistence.xml files my both projects
because of jar-file property) ? Or is there a way to tell Hibernate console to
use one specific persistence.xml file ?

Anyway I can make it work by adding to the classpath a jar that shades both
t4-core-commons.jar and t4-core-utils.jar (I had to build this one to make
hbm2ddl work). But since Hibernate console is to be used when writing HQL, I
don't find very convenient to have to build jars before entities are not
completely written.

[jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: Client call fails using JBossWS

2008-10-17 Thread tomstrummer
It seems that my suspicions are right; when "Transfer-Encoding: chunked" is
used, I get the 500 error. So is there any way to make JBossWS _not_ stream
the request body?

The server appears to be WebLogic if it makes any difference...

Thanks again.

[jboss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - Timer fails to access a protected EJB first time...

2008-10-17 Thread mohammadk
I'm experiencing something strange and wondering if anybody has any ideas what
the problem could be.

I have two ejb modules (say module-a and module-b). All ejbs in module-a are
protected and unauthenticatedIdentity of the related application-policy has
been set to a valid user.
EJBs under module-b are not protected and there is a timer ejb in this module
that invokes another ejb from module-a. The strange thing is that the Timeout
method fails to access the protected ejb always for the first attempt due to an
authentication failure, but the second attempt (timer service waits for few
milliseconds and tries again) works fine!

Any ideas?

We are using EJB 3 with JBoss [Trinity] 4.2.2.GA (build: SVNTag=JBoss_4_2_2_GA
date=200710221139)

[jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Netty / Multiplayer server?

2008-10-17 Thread roxlu
Hi everyone,

In what forum should I post messages related ot multiplayer server
developerment with Netty?

And...

I'm working on a server that operates as a proxy for my multiplayer game. In
the game 2 players play a game against each other. The server only forwards
messages from one player to another. And another thing the server needs to
implement is creating a "player-pair" (Randomly).

I was thinking to create a class GameManager, that holds a ArrayList, where
Player is a class with a Channel of one player. So, the GameManager contains
all available players. Another class PlayerManager creates "pairs" of players
and relays messages to eachother.

Can someone tell me if this is a good setup for the classes and the
classes/method I should look into?

Roxlu

I can't view the EJB when I deploy the application in JBoss. It throw this
exception javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Hello not bound

The JSP is in one project and the Java files are in other project, I make a war
for the JSP and a ejb-jar for the ejb project.

I'm using JDeveloper.

What I doing wrong? What deployment descriptors I need to use to found the EJB?

This is the code:

HelloBean.java
package pruebaejb;

import javax.ejb.Stateless;

@Stateless(name="Hello")
public class HelloBean implements HelloRemote {
public HelloBean() {
}
public String getMessage()
   {
  return "Hello World from EJB3";
   }
}

HelloRemote.java
package pruebaejb;

import javax.ejb.Remote;

public String getMessage();
}

HelloClient.java

{
   InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
   HelloRemote remote = (HelloRemote)ctx.lookup("Hello");
   String helloStr = remote.getMessage();
   return helloStr;
}
catch (Exception e)
{
   e.printStackTrace();
   return "Error";
}
  }
}

[jboss-user] [Persistence, JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - ignoring columns for update detection

2008-10-17 Thread sfisque
i have a set of entities that have two "meta data" columns, namely, "editor"
and "updated" which are a UID and a date.

we are processing import files and persisting/merging the data that comes in.
what i need, if it is possible, is a way to configure JPA (or hibernate
directly) to ignore the "editor" and "updated" fields when the call to "merge"
is done, so that if the entity is identical to what the database has, it
discards the merge, even if the editor and updated are newer, because the
relevant data is not updated.

example:

i have a bean with a first_name, last_name attribute, editor, and updated. the
first_name and last_name attributes are identical to the database, but the
editor and updated fields correspond to the process that is requesting the
update. is there a way via configuration, annotation, or callback, to have
hibernate ignore the updated and editor attributes when trying to detect if it
needs to do an update or not?

TIA

I'm trying to use a couple xa-datasourcees with Oracle so I can access two

2008-10-17 Thread sfisque
how would one go about suggesting an enhancement to Hibernate (or JPA) to
include a new annotation like @NotSignificant that would allow a developer to
tag an attribute, similar to @Transient, so that the attribute would be
persisted and retrieved "normally" but ignored for detecting "dirtiness" of an
entity when deciding if it should be persisted to the database?

Dividing code into 3 pieces:
 - contract; jboss-xyz-spi
 - user usage; jboss-xyz-api
 - impl detail; jbos-xyz-plugins

Not every sub-project has api, but we have spi and plugins for all.
We're also letting maven know about the split, hence making it possible for
super advanced users to change impl on top of spi. :-)

One more related question... when following the future library deployment model

I had this discussion with Scott in Neuchatel a few weeks ago,
and we agreed that we should have both notions available for jboss artifacts:
 - (default) jboss-classloading.xml; to have custom control == some additional
features
 - osgi manifest.mf

The files should be mostly build by some tool, e.g. maven or ivy,
in rare/custom cases we should provide some exception.

For the external libs, we should first look into existing repos
if they perhaps already exist in some osgi-ish form,
else think of some mechanism.
e.g. mapping module/jar name with predetermined CLMD

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Re: How can I deploy several .jars in an ear.

2008-10-17 Thread tade256
Hi,

I have the same problem but I use JBoss 5.0.0 CR1 and not 4.x.

Unfortunately jboss-app_5_0.dtd doesn't contain the module-order node.

I searched the web of course before asking and found that it is a known
reopened issue:

https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBAS-5115
http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=4121271

I only hope you can suggest me a workaround until it is fixed in the GA release.

Thank you,
Daniel

[jboss-user] [EJB 3.0] - War to remote EJB fails with ClassCastException

2008-10-17 Thread iwalberg
I'm playing with the Jython/ZK framework, trying to set an application up to
get information from an existing Session Bean on a remote server.

I successfully receive the session EJB back from the InitialContext lookup, but
when I call any method on it that returns an object, it gets ClassCastException
(even if I don't save the result), e.g.:
projectService.getProject(new Long(2));
  |  gets java.lang.ClassCastException: com.comp.data.ProjectDTO cannot be cast
to com.comp.data.ProjectDTO, where ProjectDTO is the object passed back from
the Session Bean (see log below for stack trace.)

If I run the same class outside of a web app (i.e. via its main method) it
works. If I call a method with no return value (i.e. void) it works. I'm
guessing a ClassLoader issue, but I can't for the life of me figure out how
(see from the log below, I dumped some classloader info but didn't really know
what to look for).

The jar that holds the ProjectDTO class and the service interface is in the war
only once in WEB-INF/lib (and I did notice that the path to this jar is not
listed in the classloader as a repository).

JBoss-4.2.2.GA on both machines running Linux.
App being developed under NetBeans with Maven plugin.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
