[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - jBPM 4 - Conceptual questions regarding the IdentityService
Hello, this is more of a conceptual question rather than trying to dig through the API :) I know I can create tasks, assign them to users and groups and then query for those. So, using my application-centric user-model, I can assign tasks to my users and groups without jBPM knowing anything about my own user-model structure. So, could somebody point out some of the benefits of using jBPM's IdentityService since, to my view, I can already achieve everything I want without using it? So, what kind of modification could I make here to tell JBoss to load JARs from the WEB-INF/lib/extra (or WEB-INF/extra/lib1) folder in each WAR during startup? Or is there a better way to do this? [jboss-user] [JCA/JBoss] - Re: Possible failure to cleanup connection when returned to
Actually I'm not sure it would. The physical and logical connections are both in the same autocommit state (FALSE) at the time of the set transaction isolation call. Inbetween, the logical connection had autocommit TRUE but this was not applied to the physical connection at the time because no other methods were called on the connection whilst it was logically in this state. If the connection has not been committed or rolled back explicitly, then a newly returned connection could be part of an old transaction, I think. Is there a reason why set autocommit is not passed down to the physical connection immediately but instead checked on every other call and passed down then? The more I think about this the more I think such a fundamental mistake probably wasn't made and my interpretation is wrong.. but I'd love it if someone could put my mind to rest! [jboss-user] [JBossWS] - About WS client security (obfuscation required ?)
Hello all, I'm developing a client (Swing-based) software which allows to send/receive files from a JBoss AS central repository, using the JBossWS web service implementation. The JBossWS version we use is the one that is bundled within the JBoss AS version, in order to ensure compatibility. To allow this communication, our swing-based client software is going to be released with the required JBossWS client jars (taken from the JBossAS distribution). For now, we plan to put those JBossWS jars in a lib folder, placed directly under the client software's root folder. The rest of the client's code (the proprietary part) will be obfuscated. My question is : in your opinion, should the JBossWS client jars be protected through the same obfuscation mecanism, in order to ensure maximum security ? And BTW, does JBoss authorize such mecanism for the jars/sources they deliver ? I tried to found related questions on this forum and on the web, but found none. Actually, we are affraid one could override the endpoint's adress by switching the original JBossWS client jars placed in the lib folder, in order to obtain the sent/received files from the remote AS. We are already securing the communication through HTTPS transport, signature and encryption. However, the client keystore providing the security configuration is not going to be part of the obfuscation process, as it has to be specific per customer (please note that the JBoss AS install is specific per customer too, and so each client specific keystore is associated to a server specific keystore). We believe one could change this client keystore, create a fake endpoint with a new server keystore, and redirect traffic to this fake endpoint by changing the JBossWS client jars. But maybe are we being a bit paranoiac ? Our configuration : - JDK 5 - JBoss AS 4.2.3 with JBossWS native 3.0.1 Any opinion about this point would be appreciated. I should add that I tried the code below with my JARs in WEB-INF/lib and am receiving the error below. With the JARs in the EAR file I don't have to do the updateJar, I can just use the code as is without the two tags and it works. I'm not sure if this is a dependency thing or what, I'm a little baffled. I just need to get ahold of the Spring application context from within Railo, which I can do with the JAR in the EAR/lib but not this way. cfadmin action=updateJar | type=web | password=testtest | jar=/work/jboss/jboss-4.2.3.GA/server/default/deploy/ | railo.ear/railo1.war/WEB-INF/lib/spring.jar | | cfset var utils = createObject(java, | org.springframework.web.context.support.WebApplicationContextUtils, | /work/jboss/jboss-4.2.3.GA/server/default/deploy/railo.ear/railo1.war/ | WEB-INF/lib/spring.jar) / | | cfset var context = getPageContext().getServletContext() / | | cfset variables.applicationContext = utils.getWebApplicationContext | (context) | | cfadminaction=removeJar | type=web | password=testtest | jar=/work/jboss/jboss-4.2.3.GA/server/default/deploy/ | railo.ear/railo1.war/WEB-INF/lib/spring-web-2.0.4.jar When I do this I get the following error: Root context attribute is not of type WebApplicationContext: org.springframework.web.context.support.xmlwebapplicationcont...@1ff48d8: display name [Root WebApplicationContext]; startup date [Thu Jun 11 03:06:42 PDT 2009]; root of context hierarchy at org.springframework.web.context.support.WebApplicationContextUtils.getWebApplicationContext (WebApplicationContextUtils.java:66):66 at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method):-2 at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source):-1 at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknown Source):-1 at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source):-1 at railo.runtime.reflection.pairs.MethodInstance.invoke (MethodInstance.java:37):37 at railo.runtime.java.JavaObject.call(JavaObject.java:241):241 at railo.runtime.java.JavaObject.call(JavaObject.java:260):260 at railo.runtime.util.VariableUtilImpl.callFunctionWithoutNamedValues (VariableUtilImpl.java:617):617 View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=4236957#4236957 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=4236957 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Enable message size Greater than 4KB
It is a long story, feel free to skip to the next paragraph. A customer reported JBPM-701 because they had a problem similar to yours, only with Job exceptions. We were about to release a new minor version of jBPM (3.3) which was a good opportunity to change the type of VARCHAR(4000) columns to TEXT. In the end the 3.3 branch was canceled and we ported the changes to the 3.2 branch. Some releases were made with the new schema (3.2.4, 3.2.5, 3.2.5 SP1) until it became a barrier for customers to upgrade, despite assurances that JDBC drivers handled the change from VARCHAR to TEXT transparently. The jBPM 3.2.2 schema was restored under JBPM-2056 and delivered in 3.2.5.SP2. There is no way to insert strings larger than 4000 characters unless you change the related column to TEXT or increase the length. Provide your own copy of the hibernate configuration and specify an alternate mapping document containing the column type change. That was the resolution to JBPM-2057. At some point I introduced a typedef which could easily be switched from VARCHAR to TEXT. That got lost among the compatibility restoration storm. With that, you'd only need to override the mapping resource containing the typedef. [jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - Re: JBoss Messaging 1.4.4 with JBoss Application Server 5.0.
JBM 1.4.4 is *not* designed for JBoss 5, it won't work with it. JBoss 5 has different internal apis and jars to JBoss 4.x. We can't create a JBM 1.x release that will work with both JBoss AS 4.x and 5.x. The latest release for JBoss 5 is JBM 1.4.3, and JBoss 5 comes with that pre-installed. Howard will soon be creating a new JBoss 5 release (probably called JBM 1.4.5) which will also come pre-installed in the next version of JBoss 5. Before this there is a warning HD scanner failed. What can I do ?? Is it the inner structure of the war file? Does anyone knows anything?? [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - beginner question for the jbpm evalutaion (performance aspec
Hi, I'm performing evaluation for the workflow products and the point is the performance. I've downloaded and installed 4.0.0. Then i modified EndProcessInstanceTest so the process from process.jpdl.xml will execute about 10.000 times. Also logging was disabled by changing logging.properties. Actually the process is simple : it has only start/end states, but i takes 33 secs(!) to execute 10.000 iterations of this: for (int i = 0; i ITERATION_NUMBER; i++) { Execution execution = executionService.startProcessInstanceByKey(NoOperation); if (!execution.isEnded()) { fail(); } } Am i misunderstanding something ? Our case when request comes in and is processed by appropriate workflow. Should i start new process for that every time reques is coming or using the only one process instance (if possible) to achieve better performance? [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: How to retirieve Hibernate Session object in jBpm 4.0 CR
It is logical you can't find the current Hibernate Session, since there is none. A hibernate session is only open during a jbpm operation and is closed afterwards. So I guess that basically what you want is access to the same SessionFactory as the one that is used by jBPM, which you can get through the processEngine in the same construct as the one I pasted above: processEngine.get(Sessionfactory.class) View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=4237067#4237067 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=4237067 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user
[jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - JBM 1.4.4 on JBoss 4.2.2 - remoting problem
I've set up a JBoss Messaging 1.4.4.GA configuration in a JBoss 4.2.2 server, using the provided ant script. I have a simple sample application that sets up a message consumer (via a spring message listener container) on a queue. This code worked perfectly with JBM 1.4.2 and earlier, but it seems that switching the client to the jboss-messaging-client jar of 1.4.4.GA breaks with the following exception: Failed to invoke; nested exception is java.lang.Exception: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.jboss.remoting.Client.connect(Lorg/jboss/remoting/ConnectionListener;Ljava/util/Map;)V org.jboss.jms.exception.MessagingJMSException: Failed to invoke at org.jboss.jms.client.delegate.DelegateSupport.handleThrowable(DelegateSupport.java:271) at org.jboss.jms.client.delegate.ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate.org$jboss$jms$client$delegate$ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate$createConnectionDelegate$aop(ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate.java:198) at org.jboss.jms.client.delegate.ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate$createConnectionDelegate_N3019492359065420858.invokeNext(ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate$createConnectionDelegate_N3019492359065420858.java) at org.jboss.jms.client.container.StateCreationAspect.handleCreateConnectionDelegate(StateCreationAspect.java:80) at org.jboss.aop.advice.org.jboss.jms.client.container.StateCreationAspect_z_handleCreateConnectionDelegate_24216257.invoke(StateCreationAspect_z_handleCreateConnectionDelegate_24216257.java) at org.jboss.jms.client.delegate.ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate$createConnectionDelegate_N3019492359065420858.invokeNext(ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate$createConnectionDelegate_N3019492359065420858.java) at org.jboss.jms.client.delegate.ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate.createConnectionDelegate(ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate.java) at org.jboss.jms.client.JBossConnectionFactory.createConnectionInternal(JBossConnectionFactory.java:205) at org.jboss.jms.client.JBossConnectionFactory.createConnection(JBossConnectionFactory.java:87) at org.jboss.jms.client.JBossConnectionFactory.createConnection(JBossConnectionFactory.java:82) at org.springframework.jms.support.JmsAccessor.createConnection(JmsAccessor.java:184) at org.springframework.jms.listener.AbstractJmsListeningContainer.createSharedConnection(AbstractJmsListeningContainer.java:378) at org.springframework.jms.listener.AbstractJmsListeningContainer.refreshSharedConnection(AbstractJmsListeningContainer.java:363) at org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer.refreshConnectionUntilSuccessful(DefaultMessageListenerContainer.java:785) at org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer.recoverAfterListenerSetupFailure(DefaultMessageListenerContainer.java:767) at org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer$AsyncMessageListenerInvoker.run(DefaultMessageListenerContainer.java:898) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) Caused by: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.jboss.remoting.Client.connect(Lorg/jboss/remoting/ConnectionListener;Ljava/util/Map;)V at org.jboss.jms.client.remoting.JMSRemotingConnection$1.run(JMSRemotingConnection.java:362) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at org.jboss.jms.client.remoting.JMSRemotingConnection.start(JMSRemotingConnection.java:356) at org.jboss.jms.client.delegate.ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate.org$jboss$jms$client$delegate$ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate$createConnectionDelegate$aop(ClientConnectionFactoryDelegate.java:165) ... 15 more Switching back to the 1.4.2.GA client jar (still connecting to a 1.4.4 broker) seems to solve the problem. [jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: NotSerializableException: org.jboss.ws.core.soap.SOAPFau
I downloaded jbossws-3.0.1-native-2.0.4.GA-src and modified src/main/java/org/jboss/ws/core/soap/SOAPFaultElementImpl.java and src/main/java/org/jboss/ws/core/soap/SOAPFaultImpl.java adding an implements java.io.Serializable to their class definition. This helped me to avoid the NotSerializableException. In the scenario the problem problem occurred, there are three apps involved. The MS Axapta system as the WS-provider. An EAR / EJB3 app as the WS-consumer. And an standalone java app as the driver of this (unit test) calling the EJB3 session beans via their remote interface. The WS provider gets an exception and send this to WS consumer using a SOAPFault. The WS consumer does not catch the exception, so it has to be transferred to the client. And as this is a remote client the SOAPFault has to serialized. And there the Exception occurred while trying to send the SOAPFault from JBoss-Server to the standalone client app using serialization. Hey guys, the $50 was a joke. I have looked at the code and I have no idea how much it would take to get you guys to fix this, but I know my company won't pay for it, but my dev team would probably chip in some money, that part was serious. Sorry if the joke didn't come across, it wasn't meant as an insult. Thomas, if you read the thread you'll see that I was asked if I would be willing to buy support. I think the phrase So now you can sit and wait or step up and help. is a bit of a cheap shot. I've really just been trying to get info, not imply that the work you're doing isn't appreciated. Honestly, it is frustrating that my preferred application platform is the only one that doesn't support this feature yet, and I have a requirement to deliver it. I know that's not your fault and you're working with limited resources. But if you're serious and you want the help, I am not as committed this summer. If you step up ;) and give me some advice and ideas on where to start I'll start reading through the code again. My biggest issue is I have no idea what your future design plans are. If you and Chris support me and answer my questions when I'm not sure of what some of the code constructs are for, I'll take on the project this summer. It interfaces to a legacy system and enforces a couple policies, one of which is standard to EJBs, and one of which is not. We require that a login EJB in our application be called before any others for a given user. This EJB does many things in the legacy system. SecurityRealm enforces this policy. We also require that a user have certain roles before being allowed to call certain EJBs. A role is a concept in our legacy system that maps directly to a both an EJB role name and a security Group. SecurityRealm validates a user has the correct role before being allowed to execute an EJB. If necessary, I can provide more detail on specifically what each method of SecurityRealm does. [jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: Call WebService in EJB 3.0 (Differences to EJB 2.1)
You did not mention the JBoss version you are using. We are using JBoss-4.2.4GA including jbossws-3.0.1-native-2.0.4.GA. You can find out the service URIs by looking at http://Nebelos-C2Q:18080/jbossws/. You can define the name of the service: @WebService(serviceName = WebServiceController) The naming of parameters using @WebParam(name=...) works for us. This might have to do with the JBoss/JBoss-WS version you're using P.S.: are you working for Cursor Software AG in Germany? [jboss-user] [Performance Tuning] - Re: Server very slow
May be you can tune this a little bit, but I doubt you get major improvements. The T1000 has a 6 or 8 cores with 4 execution threads in each, so up to 32 virtual CPUs. But on startup and executing single requests you do not benefit from that. Here you are limited to the slow single thread performance. The CPU has only 1 GHz. Running the same app on a recent laptop with 2.x GHz dual core CPU is much faster. The main advantage of SUNs coolthread architecture is the scalability. As long as the application is supporting it, you can serve up to 32 requests in parallel with near constant response times which won't work with your laptop. [jboss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - Re: Federated SSO for web services
Thanks Anil for quick response. I looked in to your blog and other resources but I could not find the details like the web services participating in the federation and exchanging the authentication and authorization attributes. I am looking for open source initiatives and tried Shibboleth but its Service Provider does not have support for FreeBSD. We are in a decision making situation which federation server to choose. 1) If you can answer to my previous questions that would be great. I know JBoss app server is compatible with FreeBSD and just wondering about federated SSO. 2) The next thing is the federated SSO support for web services. All the documentation talks about web based federation but did not get the information on support for web services. 3) I looked in to one of your posts (http://www.jboss.org/community/wiki/SAMLv2andXACMLv2Integration) talks about the integration of SAM2 with XACML in JBoss and wanted to know more information whether we can extend that feature for web services federation with authorization. FYI: My brief requirement is , once a web service WS1 which exists in enterprise E1 authenticates a user U1 with role R1 and trying to access WS2 from enterprise E2 (both participate in federation ) and the same user U1 will have different role R2 in enterprise E2. So my service provide at E2 should get the authorization attributes from Identity Provider 2 / federation server. Hope you got my concern. Thanks in advance. I posted a while back asking for advice on what was the best way to share a JBC instance for all applications on a node, http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopict=151849. [jboss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: jboss AS, jboss Web and php
Peter, I'm hoping you still monitor this thread, as you seem to be the absolute guru when it comes to PHP integration into JBOSS. But don't let that prevent others from responding...i need all the help I can get! I followed the instructions on this thread and successfully got PHP to work in JBOSS EAP 4.3 in a Windows environment. Now I'm trying to do the same on a linux environment. I downloaded the Linux i686 package from http://www.jboss.org/jbossweb/downloads/php/, and immediately noticed that it doesn't include the php executable like the windows package did. Hoping this is just a difference in operating systems, I proceeded to follow the directions at http://www.jboss.org/jbossweb/modules/php/index.html I extracted the tar.gz, copied jbossweb-extras.jar, modified web.xml and server.xml, and added the LD_LIBRARY_PATH entry to run.conf. When I start up JBOSS and try to access a simple phpinfo script, I get the following error: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no php5servlet in java.library.path, no libphp5servlet in java.library.path(/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_11/jre/lib/i386/server:/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_11/jre/lib/i386:/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_11/jre/../lib/i386:/bin/myproj/oe/app-server/jboss-4.3.0/PHP/lib:/usr/java/packages/lib/i386:/lib:/usr/lib) org.jboss.web.php.Library.(Library.java:65) org.jboss.web.php.Library.initialize(Library.java:104) ... This confuses me because both the libphp5.so and libphp5servlet.so are in that /bin/myproj/oe/app-server/jboss-4.3.0/PHP/lib directory. Why can't it find them? I was curious to see if the libraries had the same problem as the windows distribution which Peter fixed by dumping the contents of those 2 .so files, but I didn't see any reference to *.catalina.* in them. Any ideas?? On a side note, I don't see a php.ini included in this distribution - how am I supposed to edit php settings? Thanks so much - I've been struggling with this for the entire day... The examples don't come with this version of AS5. You need to download 1.4.3.GA and build yourselves. Please note to run those examples, you need set JBOSS_HOME, and you need to change the jboss.configuration to the name of your AS profile (for example 'default'). As AS 5 don't pre-deploy any queues, you also need to deploy them before running the examples. A task is created for sorting out the docs/examples issues with AS5. I'll be working on it. see https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBMESSAGING-1644 Once done, examples should be available easily and run without any modifications. Thanks. I take it that comp := [IPno|url[port]] What are the options here?
