Hi Pete

I fluffed my description... again.

My navigation rules specify that Redirect(redirect/ ) be used. The main 
reason for this is so that the client browser can maintain an accurate page 
history allowing my app users to use the browser forward and back buttons 
without running into any page has expired crap. 

this works really well apart from when a user hits a validation error. in 
which case the the page is not arrived at via redirect but a forward... which 
screws up my browser history and also the way that users go back and forth 
using the IE buttons.

I was wondering if there is a way to specifiy that validation use redirect 
rather than forward.

Sorry if my description make less sence than my first post... ive had a few 
pints...  lol.. arrggg .. not very profetional.

Hi People

Im using  in my navigation rules to avoid the dreaded Web page has expired 
page. redirects render urls with the appropriate cid parameter and allow my 
users to move forward and backwards using IE buttons

HERES AN EXAMPLE URL 
http://localhost/CRSWebApp/CRForNewDoc_part2.seam?cid=14clr=true

...i have one problem and thats Validation.

if a user submits a form with validation errors the lovely URL gets rewritten 
without the cid parameter. which means when the user tries navigating back 
to this page all he/she gets is Web Page has expired

Validation example

h:inputText size=70 id=Document_Title value=#{newGsmsData.documentTitle} 
required=true

any ideas on how to retain the origional URL with the cid?

Hiya gents and ladies (i wish there were more female programmers)

My Seam app is coming along really really well... im extreamly chuffed with 
it i actually feel a bit guilty for having had so much fun using SEAM.

anyway, im writting a servet that gets initialized durring application start to 
act as a global notifier of resource availability.

what i want it to do is simply check a resource e.g. my cvs server  and it to 
add a parameter to the application context indicating its status. 

i can then check the application context from anywhere in my app for resource 
status. 

im having a shed load of trouble trying to get a hold of the Application context

.. ive got myself very confused... to the point where i cant even remember what

Hi everyone

i have the follwing simplified version of my code its giving me a serious 
headache with regards to creating multiple JBPM process in my convo.

I read that the process is created as soon as the @CreateProcess method returns 
with out exception or null. but i was wondering if there was any reliance on 
the conversation.

all i want to do is start a convo with (newTicket()), allow multiple Bussiness 
processes to be started one after the other in the same conversation 
(submitTicketAndRepeat()) and then end with the creation of a final bussiness 
process with  submitTicket()..

any help is appreciated.

DOH! Flushing occurs at the end of the conversation since i want mutiple

Hi ya

i was just wondering what you guys thought of my usage of 
s:conversationPropagation type=end/. Ive looked at the documentation and am 
80% sure that im using it correctly, but would appreciate your comments just 
incase im having a senior momment.

Below is the menu display on my app home page, titles are in bold and lonks 
follow. I have used s:conversationPropagation type=end/ on all the links to 
end any existing conversation(s) that the user may have started durring app 
useage. Is there anything i shoudl be wary off useing this approach , also what 
could have been my alternatives (other than annotation)

im using SEAM, SESSION scope is one of the contexts that you can work in and is 
also made available to the process definition...placing my variab in the 
session scope meant that it was available to the node imediatly following the 
descision node... as long as the session is not destroyed durring the decision 
im OK  but i hate this method... and is esentially a hack..

I was just wondering if there was a way of passing variables from my decision 
node on to the next tasks

below i have a decision not that has access to #{changerequest}, id like to be 
able to access the changerequest in the task-node but i sppose its outside the 
scope.

is there a way to pass on a variable?

Cheers for the reply Tony, i havent given up on ICEFaces just put it on the 
back burner until i have some more time to mess about with configuration - the 
experience was not unpleasant its all learning at the end of the day.

I took a break from coding for about 1.5 years and coming back to find Seam, 
JSF, ICEFases, Ajax4JSF is brilliant i dont know where to look what to 
try.. really really reall cool stuff.

Hello lads and ladies

My seam project is coming allong really well, its been a bit of a slog but well 
worth it.

Ive come to the point where i need to add some Ajax functionality and have a 
choice between IceFaces and Ajax4JSF.

Ive spent about 4 hours trying to get ICEfaces to work with my project and 
failed miserably so have decided to give AJAX4jsf a shot. 

Before i start configuration i was wonding what the users of this board think 
of ICEFaces and Ajax4JSF... ps im using seam 1.2.

Ive noticed a few people have compained about the navigation cocking up when 
they have attemped to use ICEfaces... ?

anyway ... your advice and thougts are as allways greatly appreciated.

I was hoping that there would be less config, i followed the ICEFaces config as 
detailed in the Seam book by Yuan and co but all i got was

its funnny you mention injecting the pooledTaskInstanceList and then filtering 
it ive been trying to do that since lunch and i keep getting exceptions

I needed a filtered version of the pooledTaskInstanceList so that i could 
select tasks assigned to a given actor pool.

the two actor pools tasks that i needed were CRS_Releaser and CRS_Processor.

i have a UI page that shows all the tasks for people that are in the 
processor role.

I use the following in my process definition to assign the task to the role

I cant see a way of filtering the pooledTaskInstanceList to a specic role/actor 
pool. i only want the list to contain tasks for processors because my UI page 
is only concerned with task for that group, and to also show tasks for 
Approvers which is a possiblilty because a user can have many roles.

so am i right in saying that in the case below SMSLDAP will be used to 
authenticate the user trying to login and then the authenticator.authenticate 
method is called, and it is here that i can add my roles to the actor object.

because otherwise i dont see what purpose the authenticator.authenticate method 
serves.

Thank you for your replies.

Ive been on the SEAM forum trying to resolve other issues, and forgot about 
this one.

i think the group assignment before user is going to be a useable option, the 
only problem will be the case where a user goes away on holiday and task 
assignment needs to be moved to another user.

is it leagal to assign a task to both an actor and a group.

The reason i ask is because i want the group users to be able to pick up a task 
on behalf of the assigned user if he/she is away or leave the company.

I have a method as follows, it  ends my conversation, creates an instance of my 
process and signals the token to Begin the first task

 @End
  | @CreateProcess(definition = changerequestprocess)
  | @BeginTask

...I was wondering if i could get a hold of the taskId associated with the 
@BeginTask.

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - BUSINESS_PROCESS Variable Injection Dilema

this is an annoying little problem.

I have a long running conversation marked by Begin and End.

The method marked with End is also the Start of my Business process 
(@CreateProcess) where i persist an object that is the result of the long 
running convo, and add the Primary key of the object to the Business Scope.

My problem is that the Primary key that is part of the business scope is not 
available for injection until the token moves from the startstate to the first 
task i think this has to do with jbpm task atomicity

bit of a bummer considering that in @Create i wish to load the object using the 
primary key that is not as yet in the Business Scope.

is there a way  maybe using a intermediate node type... not a task node 
that can act as a dummy state that simply allows the business scoped variables 
to be placed in the business scope

Update: My first query about the empty business process context within the 
debug page has been poo poo'd, i had to click into the conversation id to see 
the business process context components so thats all cool.

 .my only thing now is that the string stored in the Business Process 
Context does not seem to get injected before the @Create annotated method is 
called even though in the JBoss Seam book Simplicity and Power beyond Java 
EE its states P93 

The class constructor is called before the component is object is created 
while the @Create is called after class creation. The contructor would not have 
access to Seam injected objects such as the EntityManager

my @Create annotated method uses a BUSINESS_PROCESS scoped variable, Im sure 
ive read that the Injected Variable should be available to the @Create 
method 

... but all i get is a null value... 

so does data In(jection) occur before or after @Create?

Sorry to keep buggin you, but can you point me in the direction of an example 
showing how to bind to the BP ctx and then retrive in the @create


Ive done everything that i can , but the damn inject values are allways 
null

}

. i cant see where im screwing up

a pointer in the right direction or example will be ample to see me through 
this.

I have this SFSB that  handles a two page conversations, assigns a value to the 
crId and also kicks off a @CreateProcess when the @End on the conversation is 
called.

I wonder if this has to do with the fact that the BP tasks are atomic and that 
the business scoped modifications are only commited when a task completes.. 

this would explain why the crID is null... maybe... straws clutch clutch...

The following class aims starts a conversation that goes on to start a business 
process, 

Im trying to bind the crId String to the Business process that is created on 
SubmitTicket() to test that this is happening i am using the debug.seam 
page while on a page within the business process. 

in the Debug.seam page.Ive noticed that the Business Process Context is 
empty no reference to the String nor the business process.. is this correct?

Hi again

im having a bit of a bad day - i can seem to get my mojo back from friday 
night! 

Ive just noticed that when i log Person A in to Browser A and then Person B in 
to Browser B  - That Person A in Browser A Flicks over to person B.

Ive been thumbing through the JBOSS SEAM book by Yuan  Huete and come accross 
a chapter that talks about Works Spaces and Concurrent conversations, its late 
and im a bit tierd so i may have read it wrong but it seems to imply that 
conversations are kept seperate by default so the symptoms above should only 
happen if ive told the app to share the user accross sessions. damn it... 

... can anyone point me in the right direction for a solution please..

Ladies and Gents, dudes dudettes and misc.

ive got a bit of a problem with a hashmap in my bean

private MapString, String documentMetaData = new HashMapString, String();

i want to be able to populate that from my JSF page, pseudo entry would be 

key=documentSearchKeywords
Value=football, soccer, pitch, players,overpaid

ive spent about 6 hours messing around with different solutions but im not 
happy with any... i know im missing something real obviouse.

I dont really want to have to write a single utility bean to handly a crappy 
string then pass that to my action it feels crap...

actually this maybe a JSF only question, in which case sorry lads

as allways any help is greatly appreciated

[jboss-user] [JBoss Seam] - @Factory annotation

Hi

Appologies if i use the wrong terms to descibe my current problem, im new to 
SEAM and im just about keeping my head above water

I have 4 dropdown menus that i wish to populate with SelectItem Objects. 

I decided the best way (limited knowledge) was to use the @Factory annotation 
to define the 4 components in a Stateful Session and then retrieve them 
using the #{component1} etc in the drop downs. 
(my Stateful session bean contains 4 @Factory annotations) 

... Problem is that only one of the components contains any data in the scope 
so the JSF page complains about requiring not null components.

in the end i settled for standard accessors as below. Any advice as to where i 
was going wrong wiht the @Factory annotation would be very helpful. Many Thanks

... im going to look up to see if i can use an XML file to populate the 
entity rather than a ejbql query

I was trying to do this... below

the only difference between this and what i actually did was that my multiple 
@Factory annotations were in a stateless session bean I was calling all 3 
from a single UI page. The crappy problem i had was that only one of the 3 
@Factory variables got added to the scope. and seam ui complained about a 
needing a not null variable... I wish i could explain it better
