[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Re: Is JBOSS 3.2.3 supported on JDK 1.5 (beta)
That's caused by JDK 1.5 bundling JMX implementation and that's overriding JBoss' own. You can try to remove javax/management from rt.jar. That will allow you to boot jboss. I was able to start jboss after that but then faced another problem when I try to open jmx-console. [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - UIL v OIL in 3.0.4
We have been using jboss for a while and have an installation on v 3.0.4 that is seeing sporadic jms "disconnects". By that I mean the server thinks the client is no longer there, though it is. We are using the OIL connection factory. 1. How might this happen? Is this possible? 2. Is there a more "reliable" factory than OIL (though maybe less performant). We considered UIL but Scott warned us "Don't go there". We know UIL2 in jboss 4 is the way to go but upgrading right now is not possible. Should we give UIL a shot? We don't have exceedingly high message rates. http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823936#3823936";>View the original post http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823936>Reply to the post --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. Beginner's Corner may not be the place to get your answers. For starters you will need some sort of load balancer in front of your HTTP cluster, be it HW (Alteon, BIG-IP, etc) or SW based (Apache JK/JK2). I would recommend the following for more info: 1. Buy the for-pay clustering docs. It's only $10. 2. Check the FAQ forum. There are some posts there describing HTTP clustering environments and architecture. 3. Check the Clustering Forum. 4. [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - How to delay start of scheduled task??
I finally figured out how to configure scheduled tasks. I have two separate tasks that will be polling databases. I would like to stagger them so they aren't both polling at the same time. [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: Help! Can't get scheduler working!
It seems that having scheduler-plugin.jar in my classpath was causing the error message shown. I fixed that and then it couldn't find the class I was trying to schedule: 18:31:52,958 INFO [Scheduler] Failed to find: com.tr.infrastructure.connectors.pollers.C1Connector java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Unexpected error during load of: com.tr.infrastructure.connectors.pollers.C1Connector, msg=org/jboss/varia/scheduler/Schedulable C1Connector is my schedulable class. It was in a jar file in the deploy directory. I couldn't find a way to specify to the scheduler that it needed to find that class in that jar. So... I decided to move the jar into the lib directory instead. This fixed my problem and I don't have to specify that jar in my classpath for other services that need classes in there. [JBoss-user] [JBoss Getting Started Documentation] - Re: Errors w/ Duke's Bank as a Web Service
I commented out all the security-domain statements in the xml files, recompiled and redeployed the JBossDukesBank.ear and the ebank.wsr and was finally able to connect using the WSClient. I added back in the security-domains, recompiled and redeployed, and once again got the errors I mentioned in my previous post. I therefore conclude that activating the security domain as mentioned in section 4.3.2 will prevent successfully running the WSClient application. I find it troublesome that you would present the Web Services section of the Getting Started guide after having suggested that readers modify the codebase in a way which will make their attempts to connect using the WSClient fail. At the very least, you should add a caveat to section 7.2.3 which mentions that the security-domain statements will need to be commented out and the .ear recompiled and redeployed before running the client. Better still, explain how we can make a web services call while respecting the security domain which has been set up. On a similar note, in section 7.2.3 there is no mention of the Ant target for running the client: I had to go fish it out of the jboss-build.xml file myself. It would probably be a good idea to mention it explicitly. Also, when doing the Net Traffic Analysis in 7.2.4, you mention recompiling the client, but don't say which Ant target to use. Via trial and error, I figured out that it was the "compile" target, but having this mentioned in the guide would have saved me some time. Don't get me wrong, I'm quite happy to have this guide available. I'm sure it's saved me hours of trial and error further down the road. I'd just like to see it made even better. [JBoss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - redirect to favicon after login?
I set up user authentication through the database login module which appears to be working correctly in that the users are authenticated properly. However, after logging in, instead of being redirected to the original protected page (index.jsp) I started getting errors from Tomcat because of a missing favicon.ico file (404 - /favico.ico). Without authentication, this doesn't happen. I tried adding a favicon.ico (even though I don't really want one) and now my browser prompts me to save the favicon.ico file, but never redirects me to the original intended target page. If I edit the URL in the location bar to be the intended target (/index.jsp) after authenticating, I do get the correct page. Why does authentication bring out this problem, and why is JBoss/Tomcat delivering a 404 error for a non-mandatory file like favicon.ico? http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823912#3823912";>View the original post http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823912>Reply to the post --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Re: sar and jar file dependencies
Yes. I guess you have both the SAR and EJB inside the same EAR file. The MBean in the SAR willl be started before the EAR deployment is complete. Until the EAR deployment is complete, the EJB will not be found in the JNDI tree. One way around this, crusty but works, is to change your mbean to have an internal thread. Have this thread started from the mbean start method. At the start of the thread run method have loop that polls once every second for the EJB name appearing in the JNDI. http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823900#3823900";>View the original post http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823900>Reply to the post --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. [JBoss-user] [Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)] - Migration Tool From ATG Dynamo to JBOSS
Hi there I am trying to migrate a running project on ATG Dynamo Server(version 4.5) to Jboss. Can any body suggest any tool for this if available. Because ATG has there own propietry Called DSP(Dynamo Server Pages with extention *.JHTML),which has their own tags and page processor. It has totally different architecture than any open source j2ee container. So Please suggest me for a better approach to do that. I want to convert all jhtml pages into jsp technology. I get the error as listed in the title when I call a cactus test to create a new "user" bean. When JBoss starts up, it works fine. However if I recompile the CMP "user" EntityBean, touch application.xml, and redeploy (as an exploded EAR), it starts generating this error. [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - EJB versioning
Have a problem trying to use different versions of an EJB. Have successfully deployed two EAR files, manager-v1.ear and manager-v2.ear, each containing an EJB Jar with an EJB named "Manager" with the same named remote and home interfaces. The two EJBs bind to JNDI under the names ejb/ManagerV1 and ejb/ManagerV2. The separate EAR and versioned EJB's are clearly visible in the web-console. However when I try to access a particular version of the EJB, using the versioned JNDI name from a standalone program, I always get ManagerV1. Is there anyway of getting this versioning to work without having to have version numbers incorporated into the bean name itself (or seperate servers)? [JBoss-user] [Nukes User] - Re: Avoiding Horizantal Scroll bar(1024X768)
g00se -- check out the work on "Templates" -- see http://jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=TemplateTutorial and also learn about "Themes" read the code: org.jboss.nukes.core.themes.* in nukes/src/main --- srmarreddy -- the horizontal scroll bar will go away when you widen your window sufficiently. Go into a 1280x1024 mode, and play with resizing your window, and you'll see it appear and disappear. This is a feature, not a bug. OTOH, if you really do want to have a presentation tuned for lower resolution displays, then it really is a matter of designing and implementing a new "theme" for that purpose. But say you want to have access to the same information that Nukes provides, but display it within a 320x320 region (such as a PDA screen) without horizontal scrolling. Then you would really want to rethink layout issues! This is an example of where you might have to go beneath the "Theme" support... In general, Nukes is currently tuned for displays used by professional developers, who tend to have hi res screens. If you want to tune for lower resolutions, how about helping write some new themes? http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823887#3823887";>View the original post http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823887>Reply to the post --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. [JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - caching in jboss clients?
hi there, i'm wondering if jboss clients (i.e., programs that use an InitialContext which connects to a jboss server over the network) do any entity bean caching themselves? and if so, is it configurable? i'm trying to track down a big memory-usage issue that looks like a 'leak' and this is one of the candidates. thanks! mike http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823878#3823878";>View the original post http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823878>Reply to the post --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. [JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - Re: DB Update after a select
All java.util.Date fields are updated. In Oracle9i they are TIMESTAMP(3). I've found a workaround for this problem in this forum: In jbosscmp-jdbc.xml, set to false for your non-primitive CMP fields. shipDate ship_date DATE DATE false It works great and I didn't have a deadlock since I set to false for the Date fields. The problem with it is that I have to do it for every single field and that I can't do it with XDoclet. So I have to patch jbosscmp-jdbc.xml after every run of XDoclet. Does anybody know, why JBoss does these updates? If it's not a bug a switch to turn it off generally would be very helpful. http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823871#3823871";>View the original post http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823871>Reply to the post --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. yes use proper packaging for scoping visibility. Your classes can work with the old JDOM classes in a given ear. [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: lookup mbean on other node in the cluster through jndi
>From your code examples, it appears that you are binding the MBean into the LOCAL >JNDI of the server then trying to fetch it using the LOCAL JNDI of the other server. If you want to place the MBean in the HA-JNDI, you will need to create the initial context on that server as follows: Properties prop = new Properties(); | prop.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, | "org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory"); | prop.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, | "org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces"); | prop.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, | ""); | InitialContext jndiContext = new InitialContext(prop); Then, store the MBean into the context. On the other server, you will need to do the same InitialContext setup, then you should be able to perform the lookup via HA-JNDI. The other problem you will run into with this is that MBeans on a remote server need to be accessed via a RMIAdaptor, so that the actual calls go across the network and run against the MBean that is actually running on the remote server. I have found that it is better to lookup the RMIAdaptor on the remote server via the remote server's local JNDI, then use that RMIAdaptor to call the MBean functions: Properties props = new Properties(); | props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory"); | props.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, "org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces"); | props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "jnp://myserver:1099"); | InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(props); | Object obj = ctx.lookup("jmx/rmi/RMIAdaptor"); | if (!(obj instanceof RMIAdaptor)) { | throw new ClassCastException |("Object not of type: RMIAdaptorImpl, but: " + | (obj == null ? "not found" : obj.getClass().getName())); | } | RemoteMBeanServer server = new RMIConnectorImpl((RMIAdaptor)obj); The RemoteMBeanServer instance provides all of the same functionality as the standard MBeanServer, with additional infrastructure to support RMI. http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823863#3823863";>View the original post http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823863>Reply to the post --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: Load-Balancing SLSBs on 3.2.3
Glynn I've tried the following: props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "10.129.133.141:1100,10.129.133.143:1100"); (ip's of my two jboss nodes) but still no luck. Know of anything specific in the ejb.jar.xml that can cause problems - mine is standard for the SLSB. [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: Load-Balancing SLSBs on 3.2.3
It works for me. I've got the home load balance policy and the bean load balance policy set to RoundRobin and I cache the home reference. The only difference is that I specify Context.PROVIDER_URL for the HA-JNDI servers rather than using autodiscovery. The SLSB load balances round robin perfectly. Perhaps its worth trying PROVIDER_URL for your HA-JNDI servers to ensure your SLSB isn't just binding to the local JNDI? http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823850#3823850";>View the original post http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823850>Reply to the post --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. Take a look at the TopologyMonitorService MBean (org.jboss.ha.framework.server.util.TopologyMonitorService), and the TriggerServiceName attribute: | | | | | | | | | | | | | DefaultPartition | | | | Basically, you can create an MBean that implements the following method, then set the TriggerServiceName to the ObjectName of your MBean: /** |* Updates the MBean based on cluster membership changes. |* |* @param deadMembers list of cluster members that have died |* |* @param newMembers list of cluster members that have joined |* |* @param allMembers list of all active cluster members |* |* @param logCategoryName log4j category name for logging messages |* |* @jmx.managed-operation |*/ | public void membershipChanged(ArrayList deadMembers, ArrayList newMembers, | ArrayList allMembers, String logCategoryName) { I use this mechanism to clean up a distributed cache (JBoss TreeCache) when one of the servers in the cluster dies unexpectedly. http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823847#3823847";>View the original post http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823847>Reply to the post --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. [JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Logging.
Hi everyone, I have an application that hangs after a while, and there are no errors in the server log file, and everything is ok in the "localhost"_access log file. When it hangs, I the access log file don't have entries of the last requests (nor errors in the server log file) , as if JBoss is not receiving any calls (But this all works fine, if I want to access another application, like the jmx-console one, and the access file is updated). My question is how do you enable "full" logging, I need to see everything that is happening to be able to trace the problem. Is there are flag to make this happen. ( I don't want at the moment to log everything programmatically with log4j) ?? Any help will be appreciated. Your second question answers the first. The jbossmq-service.xml becomes the META-INF/jboss-service.xml This thread is getting too long for such a simple question. [JBoss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - Re: Security flaw in JBoss ?
jboss.xml is correctly configured in the Server. I'm using a eclipse plugin as an EJB client. The problem is that my eclipse plugin client bypasses the security context that I have configured. But if I use my command-line client it works as expected (the login process must be done to call some method). Debugging my EJB I see that the principal in the session context is null when called by the eclipse plugin. But the method is called and works. ejb-jar.xml | ... | | | customer | internal | | | ProjectService | * | | | ... | jboss.xml | |java:/jaas/sinergia | | | ProjectService | ProjectService | | | | | | View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823829#3823829 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823829 --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. [JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: Table not found in Chapter 3 in class StoreAccessDAOImpl
Hi, Finally solved the problem. According to the exercise it creates the tables in "hsqldb default" database. While you run the EJBclient it connects to the "hsqldb all" database. I tried to modify the jboss321all.server. Changed all the references from "/all/" to "/default/". With that I have a problem deploying the app. I am not sure why it works weird. I comapared the directory, C:\jboss-3.2.3\server\all\lib and C:\jboss-3.2.3\server\default\lib, it looks ok unless the content are different. If I change back to my older settings, which is "/all/", the deployment works fine. So I decided to keep the orignal settings and point the app to "hsqldb all". To do this I modified the hsqldb-ds.xml in C:\jboss-3.2.3\server\all\deploy. Started jBoss using eclipse. Brought up the jmx-xonsole, http://localhost:8080/jmx-console/index.jsp Started the DB Admin and created those tables. Deployed the app and it runs fine. -poqonos ps.: Config files. jboss321all.server under C:\eclipse\plugins\com.objectlearn.jdt.j2ee\servers --- | | | | | | | | | /server/all/deploy | /server/all/deploy | /server/all/deploy | org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory | jnp://:1099 | org.jboss.Main | /bin | | -c all | org.jboss.Shutdown | /bin | | | |JDK_TOOLS |/bin/run.jar |/bin/shutdown.jar |/client/jboss-j2ee.jar |/server/all/lib/javax.servlet.jar |/lib/concurrent.jar |/lib/gnu-regexp.jar |/lib/jboss-system.jar |/lib/commons-httpclient.jar |/lib/getopt.jar |/lib/jboss-boot.jar |/lib/jboss-common.jar |/lib/jboss-jmx.jar |/lib/log4j-boot.jar |/lib/jdom.jar |/lib/webdavlib.jar |/lib/xercesImpl.jar |/lib/xml-apis.jar |/server/all/lib/jboss.jar |/server/all/lib/jsse.jar |/server/all/lib/jboss-jaas.jar |/server/all/lib/jboss-j2ee.jar |/server/all/lib/jts.jar |/server/all/lib/jsse.jar |/server/all/lib/jboss-management.jar |/server/all/misclib/jbossmqha.jar |/server/all/lib/jbossmq.jar |/server/all/lib/jbosssx.jar |/server/all/lib/jpl-pattern.jar |/server/all/lib/jpl-util.jar |/server/all/lib/jbossha.jar |/server/all/lib/jnpserver.jar |/server/all/misclib/javagroups-2.0.jar |/server/all/lib/jboss-transaction.jar |/server/all/lib/bcel.jar |/server/all/lib/jboss-jsr77.jar |/server/all/lib/log4j.jar |/server/default/lib/hsqldb.jar |/server/default/lib/hsqldb-plugin.jar | | |/client/jboss-j2ee.jar |/client/jnp-client.jar |/client/jboss-client.jar |/client/jboss-common-client.jar |/client/jbosssx-client.jar |/client/log4j.jar |/client/jnet.jar |/client/jboss-jaas.jar | | | | hsqldb-ds.xml under C:\jboss-3.2.3\server\all\deploy - | | | | | | | | | | | | DefaultDS | | | jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://localhost:1701 | | | | | | org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver | | | sa | | | | | | | | | | 5 | | | 20 | | | | | 0 | | | | | | | | | true | | | | | HsqlDbRealm | | | | | | | | | 1701 | true | all | false | true | | | | | | View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823828#3823828 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823828 --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Load-Balancing SLSBs on 3.2.3
Apologies in advance, as I suspect you've been through all this before. I'm having problems balancing a SLSB across two JBOSS cluster nodes, with calls from a remote client. I've trawled through the forum and can't work out whether it's possible to cache remote and/or home SLSB interfaces and still expect load-balancing across nodes. I've tried all combinations and only get balancing when I re-create the home and remote interfaces on every business call to the SLSB. The bean ejb-jar.xml has it's cluster-config xml set to true, and the home and bean balancing policies set to org.jobss.ha.framework.interfaces.RoundRobin (also tried removing the policy entries and going with defaults - also tried setting to FirstAvailable). The remote client uses HA-JNDI (autodiscovery is on) and jboss INFO logs indicate that multicast stuff is working (i see notifyKeyListeners etc). Also checked multicast is okay between the Solaris boxes I'm running the clustered nodes on. Have I made a basic mistake in assuming that the home/remote interfaces of a SLSB can be cached and the smart stub still provide round-robin behaviour? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Tim View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3823822#3823822 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3823822 --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now.
