Hi,

I fixed it, they were not running in the same VM :-). However, I was sure
they were. Thanks for pointing me on that.

that's okay, i don't want it to be like ColdFusion - i've already built my own CMS in
that world, need to start moving on to the real game.

"hxp" wrote : Over the past several months, the "right" way to install nukes has gone

yeah, i gathered that, which is why i was willing to cut the developers a bit of
slack. I just chalk it all up to a learning experience and move on. But most of what
i've seen of Nukes I still like so I'll stick with it. Since i don't really have too
much Java experience I think i might just go back to my books and get some more base
knowledge in place for later.

"hxp" wrote : I'm hoping to make some Wiki pages to explain the current way to
install/uninstall/upgrade Nukes, and about some other stuff I've learned.

The WIki pages would be nice because it would be easier and less formal for many
people to contribute. You might also consider putting together an entire getting
started tutorial like the one they put together for the JBoss AS - i went thru that
one and it was very helpful in learning many things about a large product in
simplistic terms, very quickly. And then hand it off to someone whose never even heard
of Nukes or JBoss and see how they do with it.

thanks for your input. looking forward... .joe

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Re: Is JBOSS 3.2.3 supported on JDK 1.5 (beta)

2004-03-02 Thread scs
That's caused by JDK 1.5 bundling JMX implementation and that's overriding JBoss' own.

You can try to remove javax/management from rt.jar. That will allow you to boot jboss.
I was able to start jboss after that but then faced another problem when I try to open
jmx-console. At the moment I just reverted back to JDK 1.4.2.

But with thin driver the application runs normally. We are trying to use OCI to

There are all sorts of memory leak problems in jms before jboss-3.0.5,

[JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - UIL v OIL in 3.0.4

2004-03-02 Thread ekaye
We have been using jboss for a while and have an installation on v 3.0.4 that is
seeing sporadic jms "disconnects". By that I mean the server thinks the client is no
longer there, though it is. We are using the OIL connection factory.

1. How might this happen? Is this possible?

2. Is there a more "reliable" factory than OIL (though maybe less performant). We
considered UIL but Scott warned us "Don't go there".

We know UIL2 in jboss 4 is the way to go but upgrading right now is not possible.
Should we give UIL a shot? We don't have exceedingly high message rates.

[JBoss-user] [Datasource Configuration] - Sybase XADataSource

2004-03-02 Thread michaellee
I have just set up an XADataSource for ASE 12.5 using jConnect 5.5 on Jboss 3.0.6.
Since it is not so straightforward, i would like to share it with anyone interested.

Following modification is required:

. ra.xml inside jboss-xa.rar
  - for 3.0.6, there is a problem (seem to be a bug and should be fixed in later
version) and following should be added inside any tag.

sybase-xa-service.xml
. xa class : com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybXADataSource
. xa property : case sensitive and not follow java standard.
  - databaseName not work and setter method not found
  - only DatabaseName work. This may be a problem with 3.0.6 only

Actually, since my ASE don't have DTM enabled, error JZ0XS is reported. However, i
think the configure is okay.

Hi,

  Thanks a lot for sharing such a valuable code.I think if u can post this

it will help many JBoss developers and will find it extremely useful like me.You will

  Well,you have used,

 I have a Jboss3.2 documentation.When i looked into it i found that there is a
separate "entity-command-name" for every database

Have you seen the workaround solution for auto-incrementing primary keys at

I tried that solution but then JBoss is throwing,
Jboss.TransactionRollBackedException when i execute my application.

Can someone provide the needed changes to mail-service.xml, ejb-jar.xml, jboss.xml,

I've come across various fragments but no overall tutorial to get it up and running.
Folks have been asking in the forums as far back as 2002 so there seems to be some
need.

Beginner's Corner may not be the place to get your answers.

For starters you will need some sort of load balancer in front of your HTTP cluster,
be it HW (Alteon, BIG-IP, etc) or SW based (Apache JK/JK2). I would recommend the
following for more info:

1. Buy the for-pay clustering docs. It's only $10.
2. Check the FAQ forum. There are some posts there describing HTTP clustering
environments and architecture.
3. Check the Clustering Forum.
4. Buy the for-pay clustering docs. It's only $10. :-)

[JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - Re: Error: CMR Collection only used within transaction

2004-03-02 Thread sesques
Hi,

Effectively, a collection returned by a getter on a CMR field can only be used within
the initial transation (created during the EJB getter call).
You should set the transaction type to "required" for your getter method, and test
your code within this enveloppe:

UserTransaction tx = null;
InitialContext ctx = null;
boolean rollback = false;
try {
ctx = new InitialContext();
tx = (UserTransaction)ctx.lookup("UserTransaction");
tx.begin();
// Do your thing
} catch (Throwable ex) {
  // Maybe set rollback = true if needed
} finally {
try {
// Close the InitialContext
if (ctx != null) {
ctx.close();
}
// Must always remember to commit or rollback.
if (tx != null) {
  if (rollback) {
tx.rollback();
  } else {
tx.commit();
  }
}
} catch (Throwable ex2) {
// Big problem if falls there !
}
}

[JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - How to delay start of scheduled task??

2004-03-02 Thread OldBlue
I finally figured out how to configure scheduled tasks. I have two separate tasks
that will be polling databases. I would like to stagger them so they aren't both
polling at the same time. I also need them to not start polling until the rest of my
app (in an ear file) is deployed.

Questions:
1. How can I delay the start of the scheduled tasks until after the ear file is fully
deployed?
2. What is the best way to stagger the tasks so that I know they will not be polling
at the same time?

Thanks!!

[JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: Help! Can't get scheduler working!

2004-03-02 Thread OldBlue
It seems that having scheduler-plugin.jar in my classpath was causing the error
message shown. I fixed that and then it couldn't find the class I was trying to
schedule:

18:31:52,958 INFO [Scheduler] Failed to find:
com.tr.infrastructure.connectors.pollers.C1Connector
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Unexpected error during load of:
com.tr.infrastructure.connectors.pollers.C1Connector,
msg=org/jboss/varia/scheduler/Schedulable

C1Connector is my schedulable class. It was in a jar file in the deploy directory. I
couldn't find a way to specify to the scheduler that it needed to find that class in
that jar.

So... I decided to move the jar into the lib directory instead. This fixed my problem
and I don't have to specify that jar in my classpath for other services that need
classes in there. What an aggravation this was. But now it's done. Whew!

[JBoss-user] [JBoss Getting Started Documentation] - Re: Errors w/ Duke's Bank as a Web Service

2004-03-02 Thread cerenit
I commented out all the security-domain statements in the xml files, recompiled and
redeployed the JBossDukesBank.ear and the ebank.wsr and was finally able to connect
using the WSClient.

I added back in the security-domains, recompiled and redeployed, and once again got
the errors I mentioned in my previous post.

I therefore conclude that activating the security domain as mentioned in section 4.3.2
will prevent successfully running the WSClient application.

I find it troublesome that you would present the Web Services section of the Getting
Started guide after having suggested that readers modify the codebase in a way which
will make their attempts to connect using the WSClient fail. At the very least, you
should add a caveat to section 7.2.3 which mentions that the security-domain
statements will need to be commented out and the .ear recompiled and redeployed before
running the client. Better still, explain how we can make a web services call while
respecting the security domain which has been set up.

On a similar note, in section 7.2.3 there is no mention of the Ant target for running
the client: I had to go fish it out of the jboss-build.xml file myself. It would
probably be a good idea to mention it explicitly.

Also, when doing the Net Traffic Analysis in 7.2.4, you mention recompiling the
client, but don't say which Ant target to use. Via trial and error, I figured out that
it was the "compile" target, but having this mentioned in the guide would have saved
me some time.

Don't get me wrong, I'm quite happy to have this guide available. I'm sure it's saved
me hours of trial and error further down the road. I'd just like to see it made even
better.

[JBoss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - redirect to favicon after login?

2004-03-02 Thread erikdhansen
I set up user authentication through the database login module which appears to be
working correctly in that the users are authenticated properly.

However, after logging in, instead of being redirected to the original protected page
(index.jsp) I started getting errors from Tomcat because of a missing favicon.ico file
(404 - /favico.ico).  Without authentication, this doesn't happen.

I tried adding a favicon.ico (even though I don't really want one) and now my browser
prompts me to save the favicon.ico file, but never redirects me to the original
intended target page.

If I edit the URL in the location bar to be the intended target (/index.jsp) after
authenticating, I do get the correct page.

Why does authentication bring out this problem, and why is JBoss/Tomcat delivering a
404 error for a non-mandatory file like favicon.ico?

your JSP needs to have a copy of the class too, you should include it in your .war.

Judging by the stack you pasted.. It looks like you are trying to envoke your local
home via a separate Java app (different heap). You should only be able to refference
a local home from within the same heap (i.e.: from the same JBoss instance).

RE: [JBoss-user] [Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)] - Migration T ool Fr om ATG Dynamo to JBOSS

2004-03-02 Thread Nick Faiz
Raj,
I'm not using JBoss heavily right now.
I've used ATG on a previous project - they do have proprietary
taglib equivalents of the earlier JHTML. You'll probably just have to port
everything across.
I'd suggest asking at an ATG oriented site - there are quite few.

Subject: [JBoss-user] [Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)] - Migration Tool Fr
om ATG Dynamo to JBOSS

Hi there
I am trying to migrate a running project on ATG Dynamo Server(version 4.5)
to Jboss.
Can any body suggest any tool for this if available.
Because ATG has there own propietry Called DSP(Dynamo Server Pages with
extention *.JHTML),which has their own tags and page processor.It has
totally different architecture than any open source j2ee container.
So Please suggest me for a better approach to do that.
I want to convert all jhtml pages into jsp technology.

Thanks

[JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Re: sar and jar file dependencies

2004-03-02 Thread david.wade
Yes. I guess you have both the SAR and EJB inside the same EAR file. The MBean in
the SAR willl be started before the EAR deployment is complete. Until the EAR
deployment is complete, the EJB will not be found in the JNDI tree.

One way around this, crusty but works, is to change your mbean to have an internal
thread. Have this thread started from the mbean start method. At the start of the
thread run method have loop that polls once every second for the EJB name appearing in
the JNDI.

[JBoss-user] IllegalArgumentException: object is not an instance of declaring class

2004-03-02 Thread Leif Ashley
I get the error as listed in the title when I call a
cactus test to create a new "user" bean.

When JBoss starts up, it works fine. However if I
recompile the CMP "user" EntityBean, touch
application.xml, and redeploy (as an exploded EAR), it
starts generating this error. The same is true if I
build and deploy an actual ejb.jar or .EAR.

Is there a proper way to reload an entire deployment
while I'm in development mode?

[JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - EJB versioning

2004-03-02 Thread david.wade
Have a problem trying to use different versions of an EJB.

Have successfully deployed two EAR files, manager-v1.ear and manager-v2.ear, each
containing an EJB Jar with an EJB named "Manager" with the same named remote and home
interfaces. The two EJBs bind to JNDI under the names ejb/ManagerV1 and
ejb/ManagerV2. The separate EAR and versioned EJB's are clearly visible in the
web-console.

However when I try to access a particular version of the EJB, using the versioned JNDI
name from a standalone program, I always get ManagerV1.

Is there anyway of getting this versioning to work without having to have version
numbers incorporated into the bean name itself (or seperate servers)?

David

[JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Re: Standard Stateful Session Bean Error

2004-03-02 Thread weis
Hi oz59!

Original Thread from Developer Forum

http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=45961

The SPECjAppServer2004 Benchmark isn't released yet and as far as I know you have to
buy it.

Here are some more Information about the ItemBrowserSes:
- The ItemBrowserSes Bean is Stored in the http session of the user, if it does not
exist in the session, than it will be created. (I tried both local and remote
interface call)
- The ItemBrowserSes Bean use ca. 100 ItemEnt Beans, which have only local interfaces.
- The Driver, which creates the load on the System, makes http request to the servlet
and browse through the Items 14 one to show the first Item Page than 10 times browse
forward and 3 times browse backwards in a loop. This were made for 10 concurrent users
eg. threads!

The error seems to me occure randomly.

I am sorry that I cannot give you the neccessary code of the beans.

Regards
BjÃrn

[JBoss-user] [Nukes User] - Re: Avoiding Horizantal Scroll bar(1024X768)

2004-03-02 Thread hxp
g00se -- check out the work on "Templates" -- see

http://jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=TemplateTutorial

and also learn about "Themes" read the code:

in nukes/src/main

---

srmarreddy -- the horizontal scroll bar will go away when you widen your window
sufficiently. Go into a 1280x1024 mode, and play with resizing your window, and you'll
see it appear and disappear. This is a feature, not a bug.

OTOH, if you really do want to have a presentation tuned for lower resolution
displays, then it really is a matter of designing and implementing a new "theme" for
that purpose.

But say you want to have access to the same information that Nukes provides, but
display it within a 320x320 region (such as a PDA screen) without horizontal
scrolling. Then you would really want to rethink layout issues! This is an example of
where you might have to go beneath the "Theme" support...

In general, Nukes is currently tuned for displays used by professional developers, who
tend to have hi res screens. If you want to tune for lower resolutions, how about
helping write some new themes?

This exception is thrown by this portion of code in setInstanceValue method of
JDBCCMRFieldBridge :

 try

 // Remove old value(s)
 List valuesCopy = new ArrayList(fieldState.getValue());
 Iterator relatedKeys = valuesCopy.iterator();
 while(relatedKeys.hasNext())
destroyRelationLinks(myCtx, relatedKeys.next());

 // Add new value(s)
 if(newPkValues != null)
 {
for(Iterator iter = newPkValues.iterator(); iter.hasNext();)
   createRelationLinks(myCtx, iter.next());
 }
 else

But I really do not know the right reason of that exception (with null argument???).
Please, if you have any idea I would appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - MissingResourceException for org.apache.catalina.startup.Loc

2004-03-02 Thread kuchhal
Hi!, I just downloaded JBoss 3.2.3 and was trying to run it but it throws the
following exception when trying to start Tomcat service:
=
jboss.web:service=WebServer
java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError:
java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name
org.apache.catalina.startup.LocalStrings, locale en_US
at
java.util.ResourceBundle.throwMissingResourceException(ResourceBundle.java:712)
at java.util.ResourceBundle.getBundleImpl(ResourceBundle.java:674)
at java.util.ResourceBundle.getBundle(ResourceBundle.java:546)
=
the environment is Windows 2000 with the following JVM:
=
java version "1.3.1_02"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1_02-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_02-b02, mixed mode)
=

After searching everyplace I found one reference to this problem but the solution
given was to extract LocalStrings.properties out of catalina.jar and put it in
JBOSS_CLASSPATH. I tried that but it complained for some other properties file.

Is there a configuration setting that can be modified to fix this issue?

[JBoss-user] [Datasource Configuration] - Re: Connection pool leak if transaction marked for rollback?

2004-03-02 Thread joehung
I've seen exactly the same exception sequence you mentioned in the archive message.

the problem appears when we keep stop/start the datastore and *intentionally* cause
the connection to fail to see if the connection pool can recover.

We are forced to work around this problem by restarting JBoss once we detected this
exception... No Managed Connection Available!

I'm trying to integrate JBoss into existing enterprise system. The system uses
proprietary configuration mechanism. The requirement is that all services (may be
with exception of a few core ones) that are deployed should not use -service.xml files

What is the correct way to achive this? Any information is appreciated.

i'm wondering if jboss clients (i.e., programs that use an InitialContext which

All java.util.Date fields are updated. In Oracle9i they are TIMESTAMP(3).

I've found a workaround for this problem in this forum:

In jbosscmp-jdbc.xml, set to false for your non-primitive CMP
fields.

shipDate
ship_date

DATE
DATE
false

It works great and I didn't have a deadlock since I set to
false for the Date fields. The problem with it is that I have to do it for every
single field and that I can't do it with XDoclet. So I have to patch jbosscmp-jdbc.xml
after every run of XDoclet.

Does anybody know, why JBoss does these updates? If it's not a bug a switch to turn it
off generally would be very helpful.

yes use proper packaging for scoping visibility. Your classes can work with the old
JDOM classes in a given ear. Read documentation (for pay I believe) on how to do
scoping.

[JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: lookup mbean on other node in the cluster through jndi

2004-03-02 Thread michael.daleiden
>From your code examples, it appears that you are binding the MBean into the LOCAL
>JNDI of the server then trying to fetch it using the LOCAL JNDI of the other server.

If you want to place the MBean in the HA-JNDI, you will need to create the initial
context on that server as follows:

Properties prop = new Properties();
  | prop.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
  | "org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory");
  | prop.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES,
  | "org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces");
  | prop.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,
  | "");
  | InitialContext jndiContext = new InitialContext(prop);

Then, store the MBean into the context.

On the other server, you will need to do the same InitialContext setup, then you
should be able to perform the lookup via HA-JNDI.

The other problem you will run into with this is that MBeans on a remote server need
to be accessed via a RMIAdaptor, so that the actual calls go across the network and
run against the MBean that is actually running on the remote server. I have found
that it is better to lookup the RMIAdaptor on the remote server via the remote
server's local JNDI, then use that RMIAdaptor to call the MBean functions:

 Properties props = new Properties();
  |  props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
"org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory");
  |  props.put(Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES,
"org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces");
  |  props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "jnp://myserver:1099");
  |  InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(props);
  |  Object obj = ctx.lookup("jmx/rmi/RMIAdaptor");
  |  if (!(obj instanceof RMIAdaptor)) {
  | throw new ClassCastException
  |("Object not of type: RMIAdaptorImpl, but: " +
  | (obj == null ? "not found" : obj.getClass().getName()));
  |  }
  |  RemoteMBeanServer server = new RMIConnectorImpl((RMIAdaptor)obj);

The RemoteMBeanServer instance provides all of the same functionality as the standard
MBeanServer, with additional infrastructure to support RMI.

same thing on a windows 2000 machine with just 1GB RAM, it didnt crashed like this and
also it starts up the JBOSS in half the time it does on Linux?

Am i missing something ...do i have to do some kind of "ulimit" on this linux box or
anything else?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

[JBoss-user] Deployment - Connection Refused

Hi,

I am tyring to deploy an application

I've tried the following:

props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "10.129.133.141:1100,10.129.133.143:1100");

(ip's of my two jboss nodes) but still no luck. The mbean interface on the
DistributedReplicantManager displays

HAJNDI
10.129.133.141:1099
10.129.133.143:1099

DCacheBridge-DefaultJGBridge

10.129.133.141:1099
10.129.133.143:1099

So i guess that indicates that the nodes are bound into the HAJNDI.

Know of anything specific in the ejb.jar.xml that can cause problems - mine is
standard for the SLSB. Just contains

 BeanTest( Stateless )
 BeanTest
 BeanTest
   True

 DefaultPartition

org.jboss.ha.framework.interfaces.RoundRobin

org.jboss.ha.framework.interfaces.RoundRobin

 TestEJBHome
 TestEJBRemote
 TestEJB
 Stateless
 Container

Annoying because I can't see anything obviously wrong!

2004-03-02 Thread glyn_walters
It works for me. I've got the home load balance policy and the bean load balance
policy set to RoundRobin and I cache the home reference. The only difference is that I
specify Context.PROVIDER_URL for the HA-JNDI servers rather than using autodiscovery.
The SLSB load balances round robin perfectly.

Perhaps its worth trying PROVIDER_URL for your HA-JNDI servers to ensure your SLSB
isn't just binding to the local JNDI?

[JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: ::::::intercept dead instance of jboss :::::

2004-03-02 Thread michael.daleiden
Take a look at the TopologyMonitorService MBean
(org.jboss.ha.framework.server.util.TopologyMonitorService), and the
TriggerServiceName attribute:

  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  | DefaultPartition
  |
  |
  |
  |

Basically, you can create an MBean that implements the following method, then set the
TriggerServiceName to the ObjectName of your MBean:

  /**
  |* Updates the MBean based on cluster membership changes.
  |*
  |* @param deadMembers list of cluster members that have died
  |*
  |* @param newMembers list of cluster members that have joined
  |*
  |* @param allMembers list of all active cluster members
  |*
  |* @param logCategoryName log4j category name for logging messages
  |*
  |* @jmx.managed-operation
  |*/
  | public void membershipChanged(ArrayList deadMembers, ArrayList newMembers,
  | ArrayList allMembers, String logCategoryName) {

I use this mechanism to clean up a distributed cache (JBoss TreeCache) when one of the
servers in the cluster dies unexpectedly.

[JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Logging.

2004-03-02 Thread Tsagovic
Hi everyone,
I have an application that hangs after a while, and there are no errors in the server
log file, and everything is ok in the "localhost"_access log file. When it hangs, I
the access log file don't have entries of the last requests (nor errors in the server
log file) , as if JBoss is not receiving any calls (But this all works fine, if I want
to access another application, like the jmx-console one, and the access file is
updated).

 My question is how do you enable "full" logging, I need to see everything that is
happening to be able to trace the problem. Is there are flag to make this happen. ( I
don't want at the moment to log everything programmatically with log4j) ??

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

[JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - JBOSS 3.2.x and SAXON

2004-03-02 Thread colintoal
Hi all,

I'd like to use the SAXON library in an EJB I've created in JBOSS. The problem is that
I think the latest version of Saxon cannot be used by the JBOSS application server to
provide it with TrAX API implementation.

When SAXON is in the server's classpath - the server breaks. I can't seem to package
things correctly to have SAXON accessible to my code either. Any help would be
appreciated.

[JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - HotSpot Virtual Machine Error -- Log says perm memory is 98%

2004-03-02 Thread vijpan
We have a web app -- running on the following config:

RedHat Linux Advanced Sever 3.0
Jboss 3.2.3
Intel Pentium IV - 1 CPU

While trying to start up the Jboss for the above app 90% of time it will give the

Could you guys shed a light that where i am going wrong?

Thanks a lot!

Your second question answers the first.
The jbossmq-service.xml becomes the META-INF/jboss-service.xml

This thread is getting too long for such a simple question.

[JBoss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - Re: Security flaw in JBoss ?

2004-03-02 Thread joaocm
jboss.xml is correctly configured in the Server. I'm using a eclipse plugin as an EJB
client.

The problem is that my eclipse plugin client bypasses the security context that I have
configured.
But if I use my command-line client it works as expected (the login process must be
done to call some method).

Debugging my EJB I see that the principal in the session context is null when called
by the eclipse plugin. But the method is called and works.

[JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: Table not found in Chapter 3 in class StoreAccessDAOImpl

2004-03-02 Thread poqonos
Hi,

Finally solved the problem. According to the exercise it creates the tables in "hsqldb
default" database. While you run the EJBclient it connects to the "hsqldb all"
database. I tried to modify the jboss321all.server. Changed all the references from
"/all/" to "/default/". With that I have a problem deploying the app. I am not sure
why it works weird. I comapared the directory, C:\jboss-3.2.3\server\all\lib and
C:\jboss-3.2.3\server\default\lib, it looks ok unless the content are different. If I
change back to my older settings, which is "/all/", the deployment works fine. So I
decided to keep the orignal settings and point the app to "hsqldb all". To do this I
modified the hsqldb-ds.xml in C:\jboss-3.2.3\server\all\deploy. Started jBoss using
eclipse. Brought up the jmx-xonsole,

http://localhost:8080/jmx-console/index.jsp

Started the DB Admin and created those tables.

Deployed the app and it runs fine.

ps.: Config files.

[JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Load-Balancing SLSBs on 3.2.3

2004-03-02 Thread timfraser
Apologies in advance, as I suspect you've been through all this before.

I'm having problems balancing a SLSB across two JBOSS cluster nodes, with calls from a
remote client.

I've trawled through the forum and can't work out whether it's possible to cache
remote and/or home SLSB interfaces and still expect load-balancing across nodes. I've
tried all combinations and only get balancing when I re-create the home and remote
interfaces on every business call to the SLSB.

The bean ejb-jar.xml has it's cluster-config xml set to true, and the home and bean
balancing policies set to org.jobss.ha.framework.interfaces.RoundRobin (also tried
removing the policy entries and going with defaults - also tried setting to
FirstAvailable).

The remote client uses HA-JNDI (autodiscovery is on) and jboss INFO logs indicate that
multicast stuff is working (i see notifyKeyListeners etc). Also checked multicast is
okay between the Solaris boxes I'm running the clustered nodes on.

Have I made a basic mistake in assuming that the home/remote interfaces of a SLSB can
be cached and the smart stub still provide round-robin behaviour?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Tim
