Then there is most likely another jboss instance running. Get a tool for your platform
that shows the port/process bindings to see what has the conflicting ports in use.

What does the given exception have to do with this? The http invoker knows nothing
about the indicated dtds so I don't see how that is involved. Take a thread dump of
the server when its sitting in a hung outbound connection to see what is triggering
the dtd lookup.

2004-06-04 Thread bbsid
I can't solve the problem mentioned above although I have spent a lot of time to
search related topics in wikis or forums.
Please help me!

I copy the sqljdbc.dll to the Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn directory.
I finished Installing Stored Procedures for JTA (in SQL Server 2000)
use the command in ms-dos window
#ISQL -Usa -Psa_password -Sserver_name -id:\instjdbc.sql
it print some messages:

1> 2> 1> 2> 3> 4> 5> 6> 7> 8> 9> creating JDBC XA procedures
1> 2> 3> 1> 2> 1> 2> 1> 2> 1> 2> 1> 2> 1> 2> 1> 2> 1> 2> 1> 2> 3> 4> 5> 6> 7> 1>

instxa.sql completed successfully.
1> 2> 3> 1> 2> 1> 2>

I think the installing should be right.

Then, I edit the mssql-xa-ds.xml file and copy it to default/default directory.
JBoss generate such messages:
09:39:46,343 INFO [MainDeployer] Starting deployment of package: file:/D:/Java/

3.2.3/server/default/deploy/mssql-xa-ds.xml

I don't know whether it is successful.

I have no idea to go on. I just want to test XADatasource from a JSP.
Maybe it's so easy for someone, but it's really hard for me.

Who can tell me and someone else like me how to continue.

The question you really need to ask is do you actually need your 50,000 "things" in
memory, or can u just load the "things" u need as and when u need them. 50,000
"things" is going to take a long time to load and a lot of memory however you do it.

2004-06-04 Thread mittalr
hello,
well this seems to a problem of managing 50,000 Things object. I guess the simple
solution will be to have a class containing hashmap or an array list based on your
needs to store this "Things" object. and then make that class a singleton or a
monostate which can access your Things obect in the way u want it. I don't think that
you need any type of EJB for this.

I hope this helps

[JBoss-user] [J2EE Design Patterns] - Re: DAO or EJB

2004-06-04 Thread mittalr
Hi Puneet,

DAO is used to interact with database and other type of storages
where as EJB are your business domain entities. Generally they are used in
combination of each other except when you are using CMP type of beans.

The selection criteria is not based on no. of hits. and EJB's are the way of
simplifying and brining a modular type of approach in your design. If they are
architected properly, then I don't see a reason why they are not scalable. I guess you
should read java documentation and try reading Core J2ee patterns and Masering EJB2,
that's where I am learning from.

I hope this helps.

2004-06-04 Thread mittalr
Hi Julien,

ValueListHandler implements ValueListIterator. and you can use it's function to
traverse the iterator or can directly typecast your bean to this interface. and you
don't need to specify any methods in your ejb according to the example shown in

http://java.sun.com/blueprints/corej2eepatterns/Patterns/ValueListHandler.html

I hope this helps

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - F5 BigIP and Jboss4 problems

Hey everyone,

I'm puttting togethe a proof-of-concept Jboss cluster with Jboss4/Tomcat5 behind a
hardware load balancer from F5 Networks. For some weird reason the network load
balancers sees the jboss servers at not available on port 80 ( the port I changed
jboss to listens on). F5 tells me that it is a problem with the HTTP protocol
implemented by Jboss, has anyone seen this problme before?

note, bare in mind that Jboss3 works, but 4 doens't.
note2: I'm running Jboss4DR4

[JBoss-user] [J2EE Design Patterns] - Re: let's discuss my application architecture, and give me yo

2004-06-04 Thread mittalr
hi,
I have taken a brief look at your design. Based on what you have written seems to take
off, but you can consider some other choices also such as xml based communication over
http or https between your internal systems and external systems. then you will also
get away with messaging system. XML will interface with almost all the languages when
compared to interfacing a system written in a different language.

with respect to your second question, it depends what benefits u are getting from
architectural point of view or from companies point of view. If the system is time and
money crtical, then the best trait is to go with simple solution and then refactoring
it and make it whatever u want. But an exchange platform can be a viable solution for
long term as otherwise, you will have to write some interfacing components for all the
servers interacting with each other. then in that case exchange platform solution is
really a good one.

you can use message queue server as your main hub to forward the request even though
your message type is xml based ( I guess ) and it can be on any servers or can have a
dedicated server if the load is too high. I guess u will be using store and forward
messaging type in that. Message queue again has it own benefits. In terms of using no.
of queues, you design is good i.e. messaging and event mechanism is a two way street,
one outgoing and the other incoming, but again that breeeds asynch type of
communication and you should be aware of all the facts abt it.

Overall, think about using xml (web services ) over http and https. In my view it can
solve most of your problems.

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Configuration Management - Development vs Production

2004-06-04 Thread darthjoe
What solutions are people using for managing and deploying different versions
of their configuration files?

A concrete example is the web.xml file in the jbosweb-tomcat.sar jboss-service.xml
file. For session clustering it requires you to change the jvmRoute attribute
for each instance in the cluster to point to the server defined in the
workers.properties
file.

Any config file that references resources such as a datasource, file system, etc that
may
change between development and production.

In the past I have made duplicate versions of my config files with the extension
"-prod"
for all production conf, "-test" for development versions as well as a "-stage" for
our staging/qa environment. I then have a process to link in the prod, test, or staging
version where appropriate.

Other mechanisms I have tried are adding special tokens into my config files and
replacing those tokens with the appropriate prod, stage, or test info at build time.

These methods have worked ok for me. I have never been entirely pleased with them. The
symlink solution does not work for windows. Not to mention the unix paths vs windows
(C:/) paths issues.

Any ideas, or suggestion on what has worked for you in the past would be much
appreciated.

Thanks,

-Joe

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Re: UNC path in URLDeploymentScanner

2004-06-04 Thread MrSlinkyman
I did go to Google.
I did look at the source.
All before I posted.
What I found after trial and error was that the following does work

file://\\SERVER\SHARE\path

Seems odd to me that it would be like this, but I suspect that JBoss is passing
anything after file:// directly to the File class to find the correct location. Maybe
this is a feature, maybe this is a bug, I can't tell.
But I did find a solution.

The one other caveat about using UNC paths, in case anyone else runs into this
problem, is that the user that jboss runs as (either specified via a service
descriptor in Windows or as run from a command line) must be resolvable to the server
whose UNC path is being used. In other words if you are running JBoss on a server
using a local user then, no matter how the share's permissions are set up, jboss will
not be able to see the UNC path. Both servers must have access to the same user
information provided by a common domain controller.

Thanks for the help.

[JBoss-user] [HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - Re: Strange Problem with HTTP Invoker Using Tomcat Coyote-HT

2004-06-04 Thread ahahamyan
Well, Jboss already has a local entity resolver implementation
(JbossEntityResolver.java) that it uses to lookup dtds from jboss.jar. Several of the
dtds being requested (not all of them suprisingly) are already registered in the
JBossEntityResolver.java to be looked up from jboss.jar (org.jboss.metadata package).
The XMLFileLoader registers this implementation class as the resolver. Therefore I
would have expected at least the ones registered there not to be looked up. Besides,
that still does not explain why on Windows no lookups are requested.

Still a mystery.

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - JBoss 3.2.3 - ports 4444 , 1099 bind error

2004-06-04 Thread arpillai
Hi,
I am new to JBoss. I installed 3.2.3 version. When I start the server I get
"Address already in use: JVM_Bind" error for port 1099. So I changed the JNP to 1299.
After which when I restart the server, I get an error saying port is already in
use. I pressed ctrl+c on the server console to shutdown the server, is this alright ?

Please help me get through these errors.

Thanks,
Aruna

Oracle's thin driver is a broken Piece Of Shit which can cause broken connections,
especially with BLOBs or CLOBs larger than 4k, so I suggest you use either the OCI
driver or some other third party driver for JMS persistence.

The file-pm is not officially supported anymore and does not get called by default. I
wonder if that was clear in the installation instructions? The best PM is the JDBC2
or 3, with your choice of JDBC supporting database. MySQL and Postgres are good
choices, HSQLDB (the install default) doesn't have any problem with limited datasets,
but YMMV.

[JBoss-user] [HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - Strange Problem with HTTP Invoker Using Tomcat Coyote-HTTPS

2004-06-04 Thread ahahamyan
We are using JBoss 3.2.2/Tomcat 4.1.27 on RedHat 9. The client application (Swing)
communicates with the app server via the HTTP invoker (HTTPS) on port 443. For testing
we are using self-signed certs. We also use a custom JAAS login module for client
authentication. The application deployed is an ear made up on stateless session beans
using CMT against an Oracle datasource. We observed this problem only on Linux, it
does not happen on Windows.

The problem has to do with something in the http invoker trying to make calls out to
java.sun.com and www.jboss.org to lookup dtds which causes the client invocation to
hang. In our environment, outside access is not allowed from app server boxes. The
server comes up fine without any problems, however the first time a client call is
made, four dtds are requested (www.jboss.org and java.sun.com) , they are :

/j2ee/dtd/jboss_3_2.dtd
/j2ee/dtd/security_config.dtd
/j2ee/dtd/jbosscmp-jdbc_3_2.dtd
/j2ee/dtd/jbosscmp-jdbc_3_0.dtd
/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd

If outside access is not allowed the client invocation hangs and netstat shows a
SYN_SENT entry going out to the external site. About 15 minutes later the invocation
seems to timeout, the client receives the expected response and things proceed fine
thereafter, further client invocations do not hang. For now we modified etc/hosts to
point www.jboss.org and java.sun.com to 127.0.0.1. This causes the invocation to
succeed, however we observed that something on the app server tries to lookup the dtd
by going to the external sites exactly every 5 minutes. I copied the dtds to an
internal box running apache and pointed the www.jboss.org and java.sun.com to that
machine and observed that even though the http response was a 200, it still tries to
validate the dtds every five minutes. The same exact test on Windows worked with no
problems, no http requests were observed from the app server to lookup any dtds.

Basically, the first client invocation acts as a trigger to start the lookup of the
five dtds every five minutes, regardless of whether they are found or not. Turning on
debugging reveals the following exceptions which occur irregardless of client
invocation hanging or running on windows/linux. The exceptions show up as DEBUG.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Arnold Hahamyan

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - loader-repository and log4j.properties

2004-06-04 Thread vivkap01
Hi
I am using log4j 1.2.8 and jboss 3.2.3. I have the applications logging settings in
log4j.properties which is under WEB-INF/classes.
But when running inside JBoss this log4j.properties is not detected. Instead it find
the log4j.xml under default/conf and looks for logger names there.
If I copy the logger/category names to jbosse's log4j.xml it works.
But I want my log4j.properties to be used which is under WEB-INF/classes
I have set the UseJBossWebLoader in jboss-service.xml to false.
I was thinking may be i need to add jboss-web.xml nd set the
java2ParentDelegation=false.
But what do I set for loader-repostory , since this is a resource file and not an
archive. First of all is my assumption that I need a jboss-web.xml correct ? If so,
what should it contain ? If not, how do I make Jboss read my log4j.properties for my
application ?

Thanks for the help

2004-06-04 Thread TheImmortal
We are using JBoss-3.2.3 on Solaris and using the file-pm-service.xml as the
persistence manager. We performed a stop on JBoss and there were approx. 91,000
messages in the tmp directory. Starting JBoss took approx. 1.5 hours. When the
file-pm-service.xml was deployed, it seemed to remove all the messages from the tmp
area. Then, the Message Cache started up and put them all back.

I have searched the forums (for file-pm-service,pm, messages, etc), google, and such
and have not had any hits on this issue. If anyone can illuminate my darkened mind it
is appreciated.

2004-06-04 Thread MrSlinkyman
Maybe I didn't formulate the question correctly. I know that Java can handle UNC
paths corrrectly. What I was looking for is the syntax to use in the
URLDeploymentScanner's "URLs" attribute in the jboss-service.xml file. I've tried the
following:

file:Server/share/path
file://Server/Share/path
//Server/Share/path
\\Server\Share\path

None of the above seem to work. I'm thinking that I need to use a variant of the
file: syntax, but I'm not sure what will work.

Thanks for the help in advance.

understood the logic here. Do you mean to say that by including the method in a
transaction or by not making it read-only, I will have a faster response? Could u
please let me know how read-only or a transaction affect read-ahead strategy?

Thank you,
Ravi

Move JBoss into a folder that does not have any spaces in the path. Also make sure
that the JDK is also installed to a folder that does not contain spaces.

[JBoss-user] [HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - JBoss 3.2.4 and Apache integration

2004-06-04 Thread eusdart
Hello,

After reading through n-number of threads I still have not found the solution to my
problem so hopefully someone will mercifully point out the error of my ways...

I am having a problem getting to my clustered JBoss servers (each instance is running
on a different machine) via Apache 2.0.49 using mod_jk2 maybe you can help me figure
out what is wrong.

To begin:

  1) I have clustered JBoss 3.2.4RC2 by creating another instance of the "all" server.
I have changed cluster-service.xml to include "jvmRoute=jboss1".

 2) I have copied my new JBoss "all" to two different machines and when I start them
they both are clustered; so that part works.

3) I have installed Apache 2.0.49 on a 3rd machine and added the mod_jk2 connector to
modules/mod_jk2 (here it seems that the suffix is .so and not .dll even though this is
the win32 connector).

4) in the httpd/conf/httpd file I added the following to the end of the script
LoadModule jk2_module modules/mod_jk2.so

5) I created the following workers2.properties file:

[logger]
level=DEBUG

[config:]
#file=/conf/workers2.properties
file=C:/appServer/Apache/Apache2/conf/workers2.properties
debug=5

7) on WinXP machine:
enter http://localhost -- get default page OK
enter http://localhost/jsf-guessNumber --get 404 page not found

Note: jsf-guessNumber.war is installed on all servers in cluster.

I'd also like a way to check and see if a temporary queue is still around without
going through the process of trying to send a message to that queue. This goes
hand-in-hand with the above.

Thanks again,

[JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - Temporary Queue destroyed listener?

2004-06-04 Thread mosseri
Hello all,

I have a Temporary queue being created by a client that is connecting to the server
(over UIL2). I would like to be notified if the client's connection is broken, but on
the server. I've browsed the JMX console and the DestinationManager gets notified of
the queue being closed immediately. I can't find anything in the JMS spec about this,
but I am open to suggestions of any implementation.

I've tried setExceptionListener on the server, but I don't think the QueueConnection
I'm getting is necessarily shared or directly to the client. I am getting it from the
QueueConnectionFactory in JNDI. I am then creating a new QueueConnection, QueueSession
and QueueSender each time I need to send a message to the client (inside a stateless
session bean). Should I be reusing it and not closing it? The app is going to be
deployed in a cluster over HAJNDI.

The end result I am looking for is to call a bean method or publish a JMS message to a
topic with the queue name being destroyed.

Thanks,

Mike

according to the JDK docs, yes:

Extract from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/io/File.html

For Microsoft Windows platforms, the prefix of a pathname that contains a drive
specifier consists of the drive letter followed by ":" and possibly followed by "\" if
the pathname is absolute. The prefix of a UNC pathname is "\\"; the hostname and the
share name are the first two names in the name sequence. A relative pathname that does
not specify a drive has no prefix.

[JBoss-user] [JCA/JBoss] - Database resource leak in Jive Forums

2004-06-04 Thread pants
I've been profiling the Jive forum software (running under JBoss 3.2.1) and have
noticed that it isn't explicitly closing resultsets. It expects that closing the
statement that the resultset was created from will close the resultset as well.

While this is a Jive problem, I was wondering if JBoss will tolerate this behaviour or
will it result in leaked database resources.

Tomcat, for instance, won't tolerate this behaviour and will leak connections.

[JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Session Clustering prob. jgroups classes resolving to org.j

2004-06-04 Thread townej2
I am trying to get Session clustering working using JGStore.
I am using jboss-3.2.3 and downloaded jetty 4.2.20-jboss 3.2.3, and JGroups 2.2.1 and
have 2 nodes in my cluster.

When I bring up the servers and log in to one of them the other server outputs:
2004-06-03 16:02:11,041 DEBUG [org.javagroups.ProdEjb] [Thu Jun 3 16:02:11 EDT 2004]
[ERROR] UDP.handleIncomingUdpPacket(): exception=java.io.IOException:

at org.jgroups.protocols.UDP$UcastReceiver.run(UDP.java:1119)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:536)

Why is it resolving to org.javagroups and not org.jgroups
I cannot find anything that is pointing to org.javagroups

I also get this:
WARN [AbstractReplicatedStore] null target for public abstract java.lang.Object
org.mortbay.j2ee.session.State.setAttribute(java.lang.String,java.lang.Object,boolean)
throws java.rmi.RemoteException
WARN [AbstractReplicatedStore] null target for public abstract void
org.mortbay.j2ee.session.State.setLastAccessedTime(long) throws
java.rmi.RemoteException

I did upgrade from jboss 3.2.1 recently.

The JGStore Initialization looks okay:

[JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: jboss clustering of two nodes on different m/cs

2004-06-04 Thread eusdart
Thanks for the tip. I did buy the JBoss Clustering book, and yes indeed it did solve
my clustering issues. However, now I am stuck trying to integrate Apache 2.0 with
JBoss 3.2.4RC2. I have Apache installed on WinXP and I have downloaded the Mod_JK2
connector ( the module is mod_jk2.so NOT mod_jk2.dll is this correct???) and installed
it in the modules directory of Apache2. I have added the line to the end of the
httpd.conf file: LoadModule jk2_module modules/mod_jk2.so

BUT

my problem begins with the creation of the workers2.properties file. In my case I
have a JBoss cluster with instances on 2 separate computers (Box 1 IP =
192.168.100.33:8109, Box 2 IP = 192.168.100.34:8209) and jboss cluster-server.xml has
entry of jvmRoute=jboss1 and jvmRoute=jboss2 respectively for each box above).

I am confused as to how to configure the workers2.properties file (see below):

[JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - Re: Exception: CMR field value is already loaded

2004-06-04 Thread cvandyck
Well, our application essentially renders pages, which are constructed using many
different kinds of entities, so a page render might involve 20-30 different entities.

I replicate it by bookmarking about 15 different page render URLs and then loading
them all simultaneously.

I also see a

javax.management.RuntimeMBeanException: RuntimeException in MBean operat
ion 'invoke(org.jboss.invocation.Invocation)'

error from time to time.

I can catch these errors, though, and let my client (servlet) retry the render, which
always works.

I try and run these renders outside of a transactional context because doing so
results in a lot of deadlock.

thanks-

[JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Hot Deploying doesn't work

2004-06-04 Thread maha
We are curently testing TreeCache on a Clustered JBOSS 3.2.3 and we are Beginners for
J2EE and use the Lomboz Plugin for Eclipse.

Our simple Testapplication works with Clustered JBoss and we can see that the
TreeCache replicates all Datas correctly between them.
But we want to do a simple Hot-Deploying of our jar on only one JBoss-Node. So we
changed farm-service.xml (in Directory all/deploy/deploy.last) to following:

  |farm/, ./deploy/HartterJ2EE/

We deploy our Jar into Directory all/deploy/HartterJ2EE but Deploying is only done on
the local Server, on the second one we got the Message:

[JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - JBoss Version 4.0 Production Release

2004-06-04 Thread nicand
Hello,
we are planning to deliver our software around October this year. We would like to use
JBoss Version 4.0 for this release because of the new features regarding JCA and
Web-Services. We learned from the current roadmap, that a release target is to the end
of this quarter. Is this meant to be the release date of the production release or of
another development release?

If its not the date of the production release do you think its recommendable to
continue our plans including a
production release of Version 4.0 or better develop and deliver with the latest
production Version 3.x?

Thanks for your help,
AndrÃ

[JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: Turn on/off components in cluster

2004-06-04 Thread peterb
If you disable farming you can manually decide which bean gets deployed where in your
deployment descriptors. Or by simply deleting the correct archive in the deploy
directory (this might remove other beans too of course, so be careful)

If you don't want to give up the convenience of farming I think you'll have to
implement your own load balancing policy (which is easier than you might think).

[JBoss-user] [J2EE Compliance] - Could not load field value: nomVersion

2004-06-04 Thread mortierm
Hy,

here my problem:
I have 2 entity ("version" and "document") beans with relatations:

one CMR 1 - 1
call by "getVersionPrincipale" in the entity "document"
and call by "getDocumentPrincipale" in the entity "version"

which permit to have the main version of a document

one CMR 1 - *
call by "getVersions" in the entity "document"
and call by "getDocument" in the entity "version"

which permit to have all the version of one document.

so if I select a version (for exemple vbl) of a document (main or not) I can acces to
the document by vbl.getDocument(). (or vbl.getDocumentPrincipale() if it's the main
version) but vbl.getDocument() should work for both.

the problem is I want to know all version of a document when I know only one version
of the document (I can use document.getVersions() for this)

when I access to the document by the main version there are no problems but when I try
to get them from an other version I have this error:

15:22:54,895 ERROR [LogInterceptor] TransactionRolledbackLocalException in method:
public abstract java.lang.String rastertech.VersionBeanLocal.getNomVersion(), causedBy:
javax.ejb.EJBException: Could not load field value: nomVersion

for example :

VersionBeanLocal vbl=myVersion;
Iterator it=vbl.getDocument().getVersions().iterator();
while(it.hasNext())
{
   VersionBeanLocal vbl=(VersionBeanLocal)it.next();
   out.println(vbl.getNomVersion());
}

if myVersion is the main version of the document it's ok.
but if is not I have the error.

is there a bug or not ?

I use JBoss 4.0DR3 with My-SQL

[JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Re: starting jboss in same jvm as another program

2004-06-04 Thread ghoyle
I was thinkng that perhaps another way to achieve this would be to create a seperate
jar file for my wrapper application and deploy that along with the jar files for the
session beans in an ear file.

Tried it but could not seem to get it working think there is something wrong with my
deployment descriptors. Plus unsure how I would start my wrapper program once it is in
the ear file, or will JBOSS do that?

I have included my deployment descriptors below, if that helps anyone solve this

thx for catching that build.xml problem. i'll fix that now.

all of the bugs you reported have been fixed except for the MostPopularDownloads
issue. i'll take a look at that tonight. i also fixed a couple problems w/ some table
columns not being null and the downloads module now gets a category created by default
when the table is created.

i don't know if the faq module is working correctly, and won't be part of the 1.1
release.

you have to deploy the permissions module seperately (just run a build deploy in the
permissions directory).

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Anomalous Database Manager Actions

2004-06-04 Thread anotherron
I just installed JBoss and setup the database to use TCP. Using the Database Manager,
I used a script to define some tables, and another script to add data. All seemed to
work fine; the tables were listed in the left pane. When I clicked on a table, the
Manager froze, and I had to close it via the task bar. The only way to return
functionality to the Manager was to stop and restart JBoss, but if I clicked on a
table, the Manager froze again.

Am I doing something wrong, and if so, what?

Option 1 should be correct.

Is your web app an exploded war or a war archive?

2004-06-04 Thread ppaulakh
That's a good question, I am not sure.
I double checked connecting this morning with another program and got the same error,
so it looks like some kind of configuration change at around the same time as I moved
to 3.2.3, not JBoss related.
Nice when the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing, eh?
Thanks anyways.

[JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - Indefinite Lock Wait blocks JBoss

2004-06-04 Thread ChristianM
Our configuration is a JBoss 3.2.3 and an Orcale 9.2i with a thin JDBC driver.
Our application relies on CMP for persistency. Now we're facing the following problem:
if a single row in a table is locked by another application e.g. Oracle-forms JBoss
waits indefinitly for an update of that row.
Is it possibly to get the JDBC-driver to throw a time out exception?
Is it feasible to start a timer an kill the JDBC-thread without running afoul with the
JBoss-internals?

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - How to HOT -deploy library jar files that JSP uses?

2004-06-04 Thread janimika
Hi!

We have a need to hot-deploy jar files that are used by jsp files. It would be very
valuable that we wouldn't have to reboot JBoss when we update a jar file.

We have tried two things:

1. Place jar files to deploy/webapp/WEB-INF/lib.
2. Place jar files directly to deploy folder.

In both cases the jar files work fine after restarting JBoss but hot-deploy does not
work.

[JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - JBoss using RMI-IIOP

Hello,

I'd like to use the IIOP protocol instead of JRMP. But I don't know how to do it.

I've bought the official JBoss documentation but it doesn't help me to configure this.

Can anyone tell me how can I use IIOP for all my EJB.

Thanks a lot.

[JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: Cache invalidation throws EOFException

2004-06-04 Thread roennau
Ok, I found it myself.
We used an own PK class with own write/readObject methods.
Obviously this must not be. Without the writeObject / readObject method it works!

Other things I learnt during testing:
Invalidation works with BMP Entities and local interfaces! Unfortunately the just
changed Entity is invalidated as well (although its new data is the reason for
invalidation).

Finally: this technique is a great relief for former self-built-cache programmers!
Just use local interfaces, commit-option A and cache-invalidation set to true.

BTW: JBoss offers so many container-configurations. Why not one for Standard BMPs with
cache invalidation?
