I
wonder why anyone who doesn't know where to get jdk from sun should want to
deploy EJBs.. in J2EE.. I mean isn't that a little complicated for someone that
hasn't used java before ?

just a
thought.. :)

I don't use Postgres but on MS SQL Server, I call SELECT

I hope the mailinglist will not be discontinued but :

I would like to see a newsgroup instead of the mailinglist.

I think the forums are a good addon to the support service of jboss, but
then again I dont think I will be browsing it for questions I can
answer. I would rather do that on a newsgroup. The only minus to a
newsgroup functionality is the lack of search through archive methood.
if this would be provided somewhere in webspace I think it would be the
perfect support solution.

I´ve used newsgroups alot with other technical products as Intershop

try posting your config (jboss.jcml jdbc parts) and we can take a look.

there is another configuration file for the Tomcat-setup.

when you run standalone Jboss, it´s using the jboss/conf/default/ *
files
when u run the Tomcat setup it´s using the jboss/conf/tomcat/ * files
so you need to put your setup in the files there aswell if you are going
to use tomcat with jboss.

Guys,
I am getting a strange malfunction in JBoss. I have successfully created
an Oracle DataSource and
bound it to OracleDB under java: namespace. Everything works fine when i
start Jboss using the
run.bat script. I could see in log that OracleDB bound sucessfully.
But Jboss is not binding
OracleDb when start it using run_with_tomcat.bat script. I could not
find any exceptions or
errors in the log, not even a word containing oracle. I have also
checked under Agent View
(http://localhost:8082).. still can't find.

I am using Jboss2.2.2-tomcat3.2.2 combo in Windows NT. What could be the
problem ? any guesses ?

Thanks in advance.

well your JDBC-connection URL is not correct (it´s missing @-sign)
correct would be :

this should be the config for you then :

Hello everybody !

I'm trying to access an Oracle database with JBoss (excellent product by

I followed all the instructions for the minerva pools for Oracle :

- I put the classes12.zip file from Oracle into lib/ext directory,
- I modified the jboss.properties file to uncomment the right line for

- I modified the jboss.cml file :

I would think that if you had only this in your Jboss.jcml it should
work.

Do you have 2 JDBC provider Mbeans, it seems like it. you should add
this driver (the oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver) to the other
Jdbc-provider mbean config (comma sepperated), Or delete the instantDB
hypersonic config (if you are not using it).

I guess there is something wrong with your JDBC connection URL.

the most common error is haveing the wrong Instancename (the last part
of the URL).
 !-- jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostName:portNumber:instanceName --
Note : it´s not the databaseName (as documented somewhere).

This is what I have in my Jboss.jcml and it´s enough to have this
running :
  !-- JDBC --

RE: [JBoss-user] connecting to Oracle

2001-06-06 Thread Reynir Hübner

Hi Emerson,

this is not totally correct ;

the first part should look like this :

mbean code=org.jboss.jdbc.JdbcProvider
name=DefaultDomain:service=JdbcProvider
 attribute
name=Driversoracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver,org.hsql.jdbcDriver,org.e
nhydra.instantdb.jdbc.idbDriver/attribute
/mbean

if you are not useing the enhydra or hypers. SQL you should remove those
drivers.

--
the second part :

 mbean code=org.jboss.jdbc.XADataSourceLoader
name=DefaultDomain:service=XADataSource,name=OracleDS
  attribute name=PoolNameOracleDS/attribute
  attribute
name=DataSourceClassorg.opentools.minerva.jdbc.xa.wrapper.XADataSourc
eImpl/attribute
  attribute name=URLjdbc:oracle:thin:@sc2:1521:cad/attribute
  attribute name=JDBCUsercons_tre/attribute
  attribute name=Passwordpcdigital/attribute
  attribute name=MinSize2/attribute
  attribute name=IdleTimeout180/attribute
  attribute name=IdleTimeoutEnabledfalse/attribute

 /mbean

looks ok to me, I would though add attribute
name=LoggingEnabledtrue/attribute

be sure that all your attributes in the connection url are correct.
it´s configured this way :

  jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostName:portNumber:InstanceName

btw instanceName != databasename (an error many do when they do this for
the first time).

hope it helps,

I did put the classes1.2 in the dir.

waiting for you settings in jboss.jcml (right?)
that´s mine:

mbean code=org.jboss.jdbc.JdbcProvider
name=DefaultDomain:service=JdbcProvider
 attribute
name=Driversoracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver/attribute
 attribute
name=Driversorg.hsql.jdbcDriver,org.enhydra.instantdb.jdbc.idbDriver

Emerson,

use the latest JDBC drivers from Oracle (i think it's
8.1.7 at the moment) that supports the jdbc 2
extensions (javax.sql.* package)...it should work with
8.05 (documented by oracle)...and it's the same db
version we use and it works without a hitch with
minerva...

i'll post my settings when i get home...

and don't forget to put the classes12.zip (oracle JDBC
zip file) in lib\ext dir...

you have to put tools.jar into tomcat/lib
at least it looks like that could be your problem.

[JBoss-user] porting code...(new2jboss-question)

2001-04-18 Thread Reynir Hübner

Is it possible to implement a ejbFindBySQLWhere(java.lang.String) in
jboss ? this is finder method is one of the methods that are implemented
in Persistance Powertier, and I am working on porting some code from
there. Well the Wrapers that powertier generates uses this method.

The following lines I found in the ejb 1.1 spec. :

The finder methods are generated at the entity bean deployment time
using the container provider's
tools. The tools can, for example, create a subclass of the entity bean
class that implements the
ejbFindMETHOD() methods, or the tools can generate the implementation
of the finder methods
directly in the class that implements the entity bean's home interface.

so according to this if it hasnt been built into Jboss its not
possible, or what ?

thanx,

r

[JBoss-user] Relations ...

2001-03-20 Thread Reynir Hübner

Does Jboss support Relations (1-n,n-n,0-1...) if so, how do I tell Jboss
how my beans are related, so that the relations will be created in the
database ? Im aware that not all relations are supported in ejb1.1
spec.
Im used to use Powertier from persistance software and relations are
supported in it.. but I dont know much about Jboss and Ive been trying
to figure this out, so, how is it done in Jboss.
