[JBoss-user] [Tomcat, HTTPD, Servlets & JSP] - Internet Explorer possibly hangs with Keep-Alive?
Maybe it's been documented... Here is the scenario... In my web app I pop-up a window with the wimpy flash player, which streams an mp3 from my JBoss 4.0.x server. Now as the mp3 continues to stream I would like to continue navigating my site, but no matter what link I click I.E does nothing. In fire fox I have no problem... To me this looks like a Keep-Alive issue? If I.E 6.0.x is using one connection with Keep-Alive that means that the mp3 request will have to terminate before another request can be made? If this is the case, can the issue be resolved? Though it doesn' t happen all the time could be the way WinInet or WinHTTP if used the way the handle connections... [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: Ideas need for a service.
lol It's been a while I havent touched this... :P But my services are synchronous... Bassically some "client" computer connects to them sends a request they process the request with a 3rd party connecting to them externally, either through http, tcp/ip or any protocol required and they finally respond back to the client. This is also realtime, meaning the "client" is expecting a response right away. If I rethink it over now... I would implement them as simple servlets with an XMLRPC interface or something to that extent. Like this I wouldn't have to worry about life cycle management etc... And web apps can be monitored as well, servlets can be reloaded etc... So it's all good. Sorry more specifically, I would like to know the username (PrincipalID) that is loged in to my web site, so i can use that PrincipalID to query the DB for additional information. As sugested in the other post, request.getPrincipal.getName(), throws an exception as shown in the previous post. [JBoss-user] [J2EE Design Patterns] - Servlet with broker pattern.
Hi, I would like to create servlet that receives a request and depending on the request, the servlet will forward the request to the appropriate "broker". The broker will take the request and send it to a 3rd party server. It is important to note that the request is transmited to the 3rd party in real-time. Meaning the "broker" will receive a response from the 3rd party almost immediatly, give or take a few seconds. Once the broker receives the response it will send it back to the servlet and the servlet will repsond to the client. The servlet must be able to forward to one or many of the different brokers depending the request received. I.e: different brokers handle the request different and connect to various 3rd parties. Also a broker must be added dynamicly/configured when there is anew party to connect to. The brokers don't have to be entire applications. They can be simple beans with an "execute" method which will connect to 3rd party, send, receive, disconnect from 3rd party and respond back to servlet. There is one or two cases where the "brokers" will have to be constatly connected to the 3rd party. They also must be multi threaded. I.e: The servlet should be able to send requests to any "broker" for each request it receives. All 3rd parties ar capable of handling multiple request at once... Any one have any good ideas or somewhere to point me to? [JBoss-user] [J2EE Design Patterns] - Re: ServerSocket MBean
So here goes... I currently have some "services" application that run there own TCP/IP server socket. They use that socket to receive requests, process the request and respond back to the client. Bassically we design a very crewd RPC... Now recently I started looking to maybe porting these application as JBoss MBean services... So I was thinking maybe I could separate the server code of these "services" and have them share one server. How would I go about implementing this? and would it be worthwile? 1- Create an MBean that creates a server. As service beging to create themselves, they register a handler with this MBean. When this MBean receives a request, it will pass therequest to the appropriate handler. The server will determine the handler through the incomming request 2- Create an MBean that creates a ServerSocket and passes it back to the requesting MBean. Personally I see this no different then just creating the ServerSocket code in my actual services... [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: Ideas need for a service.
ok bassically this how my current "services" work. The ones I want to port. On start up, they create a listening server on a specified port. Once they receive a connection they spawn a thread, read the incomming data and take some action and then respond back. So every service that runs, will create it's own server on a specified port. So I was thinking if I port 2-3 of these services and maybe more, to maybe have them share that one server. This way I can standarize the protocol used by all of them. It's a very crewd RPC. Question is if I create a service that creates one server how would I forward the incomming data to the appropriate service and how would each service respond back to the client? Am pretty new to writting services and I think I finally have it down on how to create them, but I need some ideas for this one service I want to write and if it's worth writting. So am not sure if I can post this here or not... :D For some legacy purposes, I want to write a TCP/IP ServerSocket service and would like to use it with my other services to give them server capabilities... 1- Should the service create one ServerSocket listening on one port and using some type of handler so the other services can register themselves and using some method to dispatch the incomming messages to the appropriate handler registered for each service? 2- Should the service create a ServerSocket on request by another service? I see this no different then just importing the ServerSocket classes directly in my services and doing the work there... [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Is config cached with persistance?
I wrote my service that once it starts to connect to an external URL using SSL. One of the properties the path to my Keystores. The service starts and connects to the external URL and produces an XMLRPC error only do to the fact that I have some small bugs in the XMLRPC server am trying to connect to. I then go to the jmx-console change the path by making it wrong stop and restart the service yet it still works!? I read the path propertie in the start method and print it just before I do all the keystore laoding and URLConnection. I would asume that by passing the wrong keystore path... [JBoss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - SSL exception possible JBoss service cached?
1- What is the recomended way to load keystores in my JBoss services or servlets ? Any link I could look at? Maybe this a bit of topic but am experincing some weird cahing problems while trying to load my trusted certificates in my JBoss service... Bassically I want to open a HTTPS URLConnection within one of my services. My service on start... 1- Set ups the keystores etc.. using the System.SetProperty functions... 2- Then connects to the 3rd party url. On one server it works fine. On another server sometimes I get sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found. Sometimes it works. The path to the keystore is retrieved as an MBean property through persistance management... I also mention cahcing because... I go to the JMX concole and I change the path of the keystore and restart my service. Yet it continues to connect, when I should expect at least an SSL context not initialized exception... It seems that the path is not read properly?? Would you mind if I picked your brain on how to create this TCP/IP ServerSocker service? So far am thinking when another service instantiates it... That it create a new instance of ServerSocket and binds it to a specific port. How would I take care of the listening and receiving data from the ServerSocket service to the actuall service thats using it? I mean I know how to use ServerSocket infact that all I do at work more or less. But how would I "proxy" the listening and sending an receiving of data bewteen my service and the ServerSocket service... Thanks. Thanks! I got it working! But there is a tiny problem... Am trying to connect to my servlet using https and apache XML RPC which uses URLConnection but I get an exception look below... What I want to do is write a service that will use apache XML rpc, which essentially uses URLConnection... I also wrote a temporary servlet and hosted it on the same JBoss server. Jboss 4 is built on JDK 1.4.x and uses JMX 1.2 so it is remotable already. Only recently is JMX standard in JDK 1.5. Also use MC4J pretty good open source JMX console. So I figure if I wanted to if my batch filed creation through an exception it would be simpler just to sebnd an e-mail with log4j? As for "threadcount" that wouldn't be an actuall attribute because it wouldn't have any set and get. On the other hand "maxthreadcount" would and only once "threadcount" reached the "maxthreadcount" then I would get the notification. Now how can I implement this? Would it be somewhere in my service's logic like...? start loop spawn thread increase threadcount if threadcount is > maxthreadcount send notification View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3855827#3855827 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3855827 --- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users. [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Whats the point of notifications?
Or how can I use notifications? Bassically I would like to track a specific occurance in my application say a thread count and when ever the thread count reaches a specific level send an e-mail. Or if a "batch" file failed to create send an e-mail. How do I track this in my application? Do I have to check the count every time I increase the thread count? And if the thread count is greater then a threshhold send a notification? Same for lets say FileCreationException or what you have... I find it overkill to have to create a Notification listener... And then finally in my app... long now = System.currentTimeMillis(); MyNotifications notifications = new MyNotifications(this, getNextNotificationSequenceNumber(), now, "Thread count high"); sendNotification(notifications); When I can just log.warn("Thread count high") and create and configure an smtp appender. I need to extend the JBoss logger to add my own XLevel and the appropriate methods to the logger I.e log.operations("something hapenned!"); I would liek to create my own level since I would like to send E-mails in my applications on specific events not just errors. I create my class using eclipse and I had it implement all the interface methods... On of those methods is jbossInternalLifecycle(...) I noticed when this method exists the startService(), stopService, destroyService() etc... methods do not get called... [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: Using Jboss MX Kernel for custom apps...
Ah ok that cool. Actually the Corba interface for my service will be quite simple as all calls will originate from one "client", my database which will use and extended stored proc. So all my services will implement an execute() method with a parameter called message (maybe XML). Now either the message will be already preformated to the 3rd parties spec or I might implement a simple message protocol that the services will parse and format the message to a specifcation. For instance some of my services comunicate to 3rd parties using simply tcp/ip with some delimited message, some ask for XML, some http pair/value queries, some archaic binary protocol with 7bit even party :P etc... It's alot easier to format the required request in the db and send it to the service. Unless you thibnk there is a simple and elegant solution? :| Now you mentioned also the Corba Example... And I also see there is a threapool service. I think am getting ahaed of myself... I should start simple but so many ideas lol... I guess it would be nicer to keep my service simple and to hook into the corba service? Same goes if I want to use threading within my service I could hook inusing the thread pool service right? I have an old mentality where my apps for each client request spawns a thread. Simple blocking socket accept() with new thread for each connection, with a simple system to count threads so they dont get to high... Why would I need to implement the corba server within my own bean? Would it not be easier to just expose some "execute() method within my mbean and use Jboss's remoting? Or are you saying that there is no client libs for c/c++ application to access Jboss remoting?
