I didn't know that I was right about Hibernate (two mails back), but probably I was. No reason to be satisfied CMP, it's wise prodeed to Hibernate as soon as possible. If you have an empty table. I continue on the steep learning curve. There's a mention that the tutorial project directory structure leaves much to improve. But where to find a suitable starting point? At a fast glance Maven didn't give an obvious solution, it's emphasis is not in XDoclet and JBoss. Neither did I find any JBoss-forum dedicated to project structure. And as for the existing Open Source projects I'm afraid they might be 'too perfect'. This tutorial fits excellently to my path up the learning curve. However, it doesn't take me quite as high as I would like to. There's a mention of xdoclet, integrating it to tutorial would obviously require rather heavy rewrite. And if that's done, jboss-ide should be covered too. And how about Hibernate ... ? The site has been redesigned recently, might have something to do with it. The jbossj2ee-src.zip download is on http://www.jboss.org/docs/index, and contains build.properties. The 1.3 tutorial is the correct one, and once you have obtained jbossj2ee-src.zip, it should help make things a bit clearer :-) View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3835715#3835715 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3835715 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: Oracle 10g Get certified on the hottest thing ever to hit the market... The Getting Started documentation asks to "download tutorial for version 1.3 and not 1.4 because the directory structure is different". So I downloaded the tutorial for 1.3. There was no build.properties in the /examples/bank directory. But there is a jar directory. I also downloaded the 1.4 tutorial. It did not have a "jar" sub directory but had build.properties. Also it is asked to compile jboss-build.xml with "ant". There is a build.xml. Should you rename build.xml to jboss-build.xml. I had not downloaded ant separately. So, should I use ant from the jboss-3.2.3\server\default\deploy directory.Since Tomcat and others come along with JBoss, you dont know clearly what settings to do and what needs to be downloaded extra apart from downloading jboss. Also I did not find a jbossj2ee-src.zip or jbossj2ee-src.tzg. When I went to http://www.jboss.org/docs/index.html. It showed a blank page. Studies have shown that editors catch more errors when proof reading on paper as opposed to only on the screen. I also find it easier to learn something when I can read it on paper, so I vote for allowing printing. Put a watermark on it if you want to make it clear that this is a draft version. I thought I couldn't get the Getting Started guide without paying for it, because my Acrobat version is not the newest and the download link gave me a blank page instead of launching Acrobat. It also took me ages to get here from the jboss home page. Amidst all that marketing I couldn't find any documentation! I eventually went off to sourceforge and then finally googled to get here! Then I spent ages looking for the J2EE 1.3 tutorial code download on Sun, which I couldn't find so I gave up and got the 1.4 version instead. Then the 'preparing files' section was ambiguous about which directories to extract the jboss & the j2ee tutorial zips to - merge them? Unzip one first and then unzip the other into it? Keep them seperate? A few better placed links and a couple of lines of for-dummies description, maybe a README.1st somewhere would have saved me half a morning of confusion. --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now. Could you point me to this file ? The JBoss website does not have a search funtionality that I could use to search the website with. thanks It's a zip file rather than a tgz. You can get it from here http://jboss.org/docs/jbossj2ee-src.zip Luke. Luke, I spent alot of time trying to find the link for this source mentioned in the tutorial. Could you please fix the main documents page, so the next beginner doesn't have to look and look for this link. At the bottom of this page, http://www.jboss.org/docs/index#free-32x, there is a link, http://www.jboss.org/manual/files, to download the source files related to the tutorial. It is serving up a blank page. Could you reference your link there? That would be a great help. Thanx.
