[JDEV] PTH and cygwin
Why doesn't pth-1.4.0 compile under cygwin? Just finished a full cygwin install, tried to make pth and fails out with the same error and warnings as usual. Anybody know what's going on? I've also tried downloading 1.4.0 and 1.4.1 from pth's site and building it independently but it's still a no go. :( --- Clearswift monitors, controls and protects all its messaging traffic in compliance with its corporate email policy using Clearswift products. The components list wouldn't be intended to become a high-bandwidth list. The primary reason for its existance is for component developers to bounce ideas off each other, and if no component developers have ideas to bounce at any given moment, the list _should_ be relatively dead. Guys, if you're going to take this offlist, can you please keep me on the CC list? This discussion may be wearing out its welcome on the JDEV list, but that doesn't make me any less interested in finding out about any interesting ideas you folks have. If the Jabber community decides to examine file transfer again at some future point, it'd be very good to have this discussion lying around in an archive somewhere, so we don't have to have it all over again then. (Sadly, most discussions I've seen go off-list end up disappearing in mid-argument, and a few months later, they repeat themselves, before being taken off-list again, only to die again.) - Dave Tijl Houtbeckers wrote: > > -- Original Message -- > > >I'm not even trying to do file transfers, just trying to keep the Jabber > >protocols and architecture clean and functional. When somebody disconnects he can set on server that all the messages that comes to him will be redirected to sms gateway - and then sent to the gsm phone. Like this the person could be online all the time. Of course we could also do the direct sending of sms'es the problem was that our customer wanted to limit as much as possible the number of smses sent trough his gateway. -- ...{.kuba.troszok.}-[[EMAIL PROTECTED]]... ___ jdev mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mailman.jabber.org/listinfo/jdev

[JDEV] Jabber library for Linux
Title: Jabber library for Linux I have been looking for a library to build a very basic jabber client (console only - not graphical) on a Linux system. I have looked at jecl and jabberoo and am having problems with both. Jecl will not compile (even using ANT) and I cannot find a simple example using jabberoo (or jecl for that matter). Any ideas?
Re: [JDEV] Jabber library for Linux
use the perl libs available :) Net::Jabber just had a release and you can make a trivial console client in under 50 lines of code. If you want to dig a little deeper, use Jabber::Connection and family. Of course if you want to be hardcore, use XML::Stream.
