This is, that in your psml/anon/wml/(en) directory there is no valid default.psml to generate WML output. Take this one as a working example: http://xml.apache.org/jetspeed/2000/psml";> Jürgen > -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- > Von: Frans Thamura [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Gesendet am: Mittwoch, 17. Its easy, openwave.com left you see the link to the developer page, there right you see the butto to download the sdk. Try to get the UPsim41, as the V5 has problems if you log in to jetspeed. With V41 it runs. If you can not get hands on V41, I can mail it to you (in the mail app. 8 MB) Juergen > -Urspr> üngliche Nachricht- > Von: Frans Thamura [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Gesendet am: Sonntag, 14. Raphael, thank you for this information. I will review with our developer Andreas how he did it. He reportet to me, that he has one problem with the customizer (we can customize html and wml separately now): o since he load the wml default.psml for customising, selecting "Home" or something else the wml default remains loaded. That means wml portlets are displayed as $screen_placeholder. On monday we will review the call tree how to hande this. If you have a suggestion, of course, this is highly appreciated. I doubt, that for a first shot it is neccessary to support any functionality of the ProfileLocator. In my opinion the functionality of 1.3a1 is the first step: o one can select and deselct WML portlets What are we going to use it for? o pure WML pages to add (like in html the Sun Java Dev page) o pure WML pages which will be obtained remotely and than automagically reworked as if locally thus the user remains in the portal and not at the wml adress o for the demonstration of the power of cocoon: one XML text two appearences using either WML and HTML xsl. However, I welcome any discussion, review and advise how the strategy for development of jetspeed is. I would appreciate when you and the other big maintainer/programmer can share it with the community. Yes, as soon as we have a package ready (SW + docu) What is the preferred document format? I tend to have it in XML using the toot-o-matic from Doug Tidwell, IBM (http://www6.software.ibm.com/dl/devworks/dw-tootomatic-p) Currently it is in Winword. First of all, WML awareness of 1.3a2: o yes, you can configure the anon/wml/default.psml as such, also wml/top.vm and wml/bottom.vm What does it lack: o no login o even when registering as a new user there is no default wml/default.psml attached to the user o the customiser does not regard wml What we did: o port of the html login to wml login o with each new login user a wml/default.psml is written Next steps: 1) make the customiser wml aware as it shall be possible from the webpage to select your desired wml portles (it seems to be foreseen with the HompageCustomizer.vm whis is not used to our investigations) 2) having a wml customiser thus one can select from wml his wml portlets as well As the documentation in detail is poor unfortunately (so we document what we did), this took us much time of debugging to get knowledge, how the things work. However, I'm optimistic, that we can implement at least 1) Juergen > -Urspr> üngliche Nachricht- > Von: David Sean Taylor [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Gesendet am: Mittwoch, 10. I agree. It's even worse: o select a number of portlets, and then x them out when displayed o in the default.psml you have them marked "closed", example: You will not get them back into live, and if you choose the customisation page, your portlets are: o not tagged at all (thus you could sect them a second, third time) o after you selected them some time and x them out, you will not get it back anymore. That means, the administrator has to manually remove the entries, to get a user customisable again just my 2 Euro cents Juergen > -Urspr> üngliche Nachricht- > Von: Bernhard J. Now it runs, however it was not that easy: there was an interference with jetspeed (see the thread: "Cocoon and Jetspeed configuration"). The cocoon portlet reference was not written correctly into the default.psml of the particular user. I deleted xerxes1_4_3.jar of the cocoon lib. Now cocoon is displayed in the WebPagePortlet. Also the write of the users default.psml happens mostly (another bug?). Whether it is sufficient to use xerxes1_3_1.jar of the jetspeed lib directory also for cocoon, I will see. Customizer: who writes default.psml for WML?
Hi, with some effort and a steep learning curve we managed to get the WML login into jetspeed 1.3a2. However, the */wml/default.psml file, usually customized for each user will not be written by Velocity or Turbine as this is the case for html/default.psml. With jetspeed 1.3a1 at the customize page one could tag html as well as wml portlets. This is not the case with jetspeed 1.3a2. As a work around we created a wml directory for a particular user and inserted a by hand custimezed default.psml for wml content. Question: is this feature generally not implemented yet, or is it hidden and needs to be waked up? AW: lokally OK, remotely NOT OK
It is solved now, but what happend? o I used UPSDK41 from OW and the remote PC as well. o Today a colleague installed the new Version 5 WML SDK of OW This didn't work eiter, as well as a different Browser also did not work o Then I installed the new Version 5 SDK and *it didn't work* That was really strange. Than I looked into the directory psml/anon/wml and compared the file default.psml with that in the directory psml/anaon/wml/en and gotcha: there where different and could not render properly. That means: my UP41 on the local machine got returned the psml/anon/wml/default.psml, where as the remote and the new UP5 got returned the psml/anon/wml/EN/default.psml. After making both of them right I could also access remotely to the WML stuff. Now I know what it did: per default jetspeed is configured english, my UP41 is configured german. The colleagues browser are also configured englisch. What does it all? Obviously the languages properties work! WML: lokally OK, remotely NOT OK
Hi, using jetspeed 1.3a2/tomcat 3.2.3 I started to enable WML output. Accessing jetspeed anonymously with the OpenWave WML simulator lokally works so far, however, when I access it from remote, an error will be reported: - DATA SIZE Uncompiled data from HTTP is 225 bytes. ...found Content-Type: text/vnd.wap.wml. === WML Errors = WML translation failed. (14) : error: Element 'wml' is not complete. Expected elements 'card' === End Errors = Current WML ** http://www.wapform.org/DTD/wml_1.1.xml";> Translation failed for content-type: text/vnd.wap.wml As you can see, the element is missing, which is output from the default.vm ($screen_placeholder). The statements are the output from wml/top.wml. This is strange, as $screen_placeholder is correctly inserted accessing the WML locally. Any clues? On the other hand, enabling all the debugging of the server.xml of tomcat, it gives for the remote access: 2001-09-26 11:28:00 - ContextManager: No handler for request R( /jetspeed + /compile-error.wml + null) 404 2001-09-26 11:28:00 - Ctx( /jetspeed ): 404 R( /jetspeed + /compile-error.wml + null) null 2001-09-26 11:28:00 - Ctx( /jetspeed ): Handler tomcat.notFoundHandler(null/null) tomcat.notFoundHandler Is there any further debuging level possible to trace down where jetspeed forgets to insert "$screen_placeholder -> default.psml" Grüsse/Best Regards Jürgen * Juergen Riedl SIEMENS ICM S CP PE Geisenhausenerstr. 15, 81379 Muenchen, Germany Site: MchH/Ge15, Building 18600, Room 440 Solutions Architect, Customer Projects, mtroop voice: (+49)-(0)89-722-42004/ fax: (+49)-(0)89-722-54725 mobile:(+49)-(0)170-63 23 413 / email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] * "The future masters of technology will have to be lighthearted and intelligent. Wow, this answer is perfect. One question is left: o where is the jetspeed servlet located, and what is its name? The only thing I found was the jetspeed.vm ( I expected someting like Jetspeed.jsp or jetspeed.class). I searched even in the sources to no avail. So the step from 3) to 4) is not clear to me. Call Tree How To: index.jsp -> jetspeed.vm & Default.psml: how does this work
Hi all, I really like to understand how jetspeed traverses all the VM files starting with the index.jsp. What I think to know: o in the web.xml file the link of index.jsp "portlet/" is redirected to "jetspeed" o since the engine runs in VM mode, this shall redirect to jetspeed.vm instead of jetspeed.jsp But this is only the half story: o someone calls default.psml Where is that specified ? I greped trough the conf directory, but this gives only little helt. Perhaps I overlooked something. In jetspeed.vm there is a lot of makro processing. Where can I find what is called e.g. for "$!{skin.PortletStyleClass}". First I thought that it is a class where in the path is skin or something else. But I didn't find anything. Maybe this is already documented, then please give me the pointer to it. Best Regards Juergen Riedl > - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Our solution for the HelloWorldPortlet problem
Hi all, some time ago there was a lot discussion about problems with the beginners HelloWorldPortlet. Even though recommended to put the class file into the Web-inf/classes directory, this didn't work for us. However, we found a solution, which we like to share. If there are other prossibilities, please let us know. We run Jetspeed 1.3a1 under WinNT. The trick is, to make a module and than a jar file, which can be put in the jetspeed/lib directory as there also the jetspeed.jar resides. But step by step: Portlet installation or How to solve java.lang.ClassNotFoundException Step by step solution: 1. Develope your portlet with a package identifier (important!). >> package myPortlet; // just as an example name import org.apache.jetspeed.portal.portlets.AbstractPortlet; import ... public class newPortlet extends AbstractPortlet { ... } 2. Make a jar file (assuming that you have a myPortlet directory which contains newPortlet.class): c:\jar cvf myJar.jar myPortlet 3. Copy myJar.jar into your jetspeed/web-inf/lib directory 4. Open the jetspeed configuration file 'TurbineResources.properties' and add your package (myPortlet) in the 'Modul Packages' section (obviously you cann add all your privte protlets into this module): module.packages=myPortlet;org.apache.jetspeed.modules,... 5. Open the jetspeed registration file 'jetspeed-config.jcfg' and add your Portlet: newPortlet 6. Restart 'tomcat' and 'jetspeed', that's all! AW: Creating a new user - Secret Key in mail box
A long time ago I wrote: [JR] here my contribution to the mail issue: I did it also with our companies mail server after I firgured out hie name. Then no neccessity to bother with james. Even thought that I could sent messages, they turned out to be stored in the var/mail/outgoing directory and never at var/mail/localinbox/juergen. However, later the key for jetspeed was in the mail of the outgoing directory. additionally I added in the "TurbineResource.properties file according to a recommendation of one of mailinglist at the mail section mail.server=localhost (here you can enter an officiell mailaccount if remotely available) # proposal from mailing list confirm.email.from=postmaster@what your domainnnaemis confirm.email.name=a_name.localhost.de Postmaster confirm.email.subject=Jetspeed Registration I really hadn't jet the time, what entry it made to get it run somehow, however I need to mention, that once you unsuccessfully registered with Jetspoeed, your name is entered in the database. The problem is, that if you like to re-register, even with a well formed email adress, the Jetspeed complained about an invalid email adress. This seems to be a bug. So despreately I entered a new name which I nevere tried before, and viola, I could register (unfortunately not just entering the secret key but with starting the http://... adress instead. Another bug?). I run Jetspeed 1.3a1 and Tomcat 3.2.2. I didnt get it to work with Tomcat 4.0-5 aas well as 4.0-dev (v6). My Java is 1.3.1. Hope this helps. Even thought that I could sent messages, they turned out to be stored in the var/mail/outgoing directory and never at var/mail/localinbox/juergen. However, later the key for jetspeed was in the mail of the outgoing directory. additionally I added in the "TurbineResource.properties file according to a recommendation of one of mailinglist at the mail section mail.server=localhost # proposal from mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] confirm.email.name=a_name.localhost.de Postmaster confirm.email.subject=Jetspeed Registration I really hadn't jet the time, what entry it made to get it run somehow, however I need to mention, that once you unsuccessfully registered with Jetspoeed, your name is entered in the database.
