[Jmol-users] XYZ + vibration

OK, I'm stumped.

The XYZ file format derives from the Minnesota Supercomputer Institute's
XMol project; but where does the format that encodes vibrational information
on the same line as the x y z coordinates come from?

A group of us are preparing a paper to be presented at the next 
CONFCHEM online conference 

Web-Based Applications for Chemical Education: Experiences and Visions
(beginning May 5) entitled:

Jmol: Open-source molecular visualization


As part of this presentation, we plan to highlight web applications 
that make use of Jmol. If you have written such a web page, even if it 
doesn't make extensive use of Jmol, and it does not appear at

Eva, if tihs is a website, it should be no problem; if it is your local 
hard drive, you must have all files read either in the directory 
containing the jar files or some directory beneath that. It's a Java 
security issue -- nothing to do really with Jmol.


By the way, I recommend using Jmol.js. It's far simpler.

[Jmol-users] Problem loading a pdb file

Dear users,
I am new with Jmol Applet.
I have been folowwing the web page guide but I have a problem.
When I tried to load a pdb file that it is not placed in the directory where 
JmolApplet is, I get an error telling me the access to that file is denied. 
But when I try with some of the examples in the jmol directory it works fine
My pdf files are located in /home/pdb/ directory and the apllet is in 
/home/bin/jmol

These are the tags I am using ofr my web page:

What I am doing wrong?.

It does.

For example, if you fix a simple thing in an English string, gettext tools will 
be able to see that it's probably the same string, and the msgid will be 
changed and the translation marked as fuzzy (that's what happened when we added 
the & to the menu items)

If it hits just a few strings, I would do it. gettext helps you to find
the updated original strings, so it's not so much work - be more
flexible was one of the reasons to use gettext. And fixing typos or
bad-English is IMHO a good idea. For the next release, you should maybe
officially announce a date for a string freeze.

Only in this special case (and of course in most existing programs). But
the general conclusion by Sebastian is wrong (IMO). That was, what I
wanted to make clear.

Include it. It updates the translation. As far as I understand
Sebastian, no changes to msgids have been done. So there is no reason to
wait for the update.

poEdit really helps editing the translation by clearly showing what needs to be 
translated. But Notepad should work also.

It won't be changed for 10.2 because it will require to modify all translations 
after that, but suggestions are welcome for next versions.
