[josm-dev] geotagged images proposal

2009-08-31 Thread Женя Деревянкин
Hi, list

Recently, I've started photo-mapping, and found JOSM very useful for
aligning the pictures along the track.
But I think it would also be useful if JOSM could export the
coordinates back into the images, so that they could be used in the
future for some other projects, like OpenStreetPhoto.

Moreover, I've looked at the OpenStreetPhoto wiki page, and they
currently have a very simple image upload scheme - you just need to
put the geotagged images to
ftp://openstreetphoto.org/UPLOADHERE/username/ (I don't know if it
actually works, I've uploaded a few geotagged pictures there for a
test. Haven't got many of those)

So maybe that can also be incorporated into JOSM - then people can
open a GPX file, import images, syncronize the clock, draw everything,
and then - upload the photoes to OpenStreetPhoto for future use (by
other users, by data extraction programs, etc)

I'm not a programmer myself, so I'd like to hear your opinion, wether
it is difficult to implement such functionality into JOSM

[josm-dev] Accidentally deleted the National Byway cycle route...

2009-08-31 Thread A Morris
A fellow mapper has kindly informed me that my changeset 2315455
appears to have deleted all the members from the National Byway cycle
route.

Unfortunately I am not sure how to revert this changeset; If anyone is
able to revert this for me I would be most grateful.

I think the problem may have been caused by a bug in josm. I was using
josm-latest.jar, downloaded on 2008-08-08 21:28. I made some small
edits to the cycle path around Rutland Water, where it was wrong at
the car park near Whitwell. When I tried to upload, it told me there
were conflicts; the conflict merging dialog seemed to resolve it. I
didn't pay much attention to what the conflicts were, it told me
everything was merged OK. Then I uploaded my changes.

The terminal window from which I launched josm is still open on my
computer, and I can mail the output from the terminal to anyone who
can make use of it. There are a couple of null pointer exceptions, not
sure how relevant it is.

(I will put every effort into reverting the offending changeset
myself, however the earliest I can even start looking at how to do
this is 13th September)

Aled.

I was using a separate script in windows for this (haven't yet managed
in Linux but I guess it available as well), that was writing those
coordinates into the images. With JOSM-Plugin Agpifoj you can read and
automatically align them afterwards in JOSM - but I agree that it
would be nice as well to have JOSM able to write them.

cheers,
Martin

For what it is worth, Debian GNU/Linux includes a package of the
gpscorrelate program. One minor annoyance in it that I have not
bothered to fix yet is that it can process only one GPX trace at a time.
I sometimes split the traces into logical steps while recording them,
but I cannot do the same for the photos. So, I have merged GPX traces
in a text editor when needed.
