Re: [JOYnet] Blessings in Singapore

2002-09-04 Thread Saju PJ

Dear friends,

Thank you very much for your prayers - Attended the JY program in Singapore on
Saturday and Sunday It was really a wonderful experience. Those two days were
the happiest days in my life after coming to Malaysia. Our Lord Jesus was abundantly
showering his love upon me, through all JYs there. I am really wondering, how they
became so much loving disciples of our Lord, within a very short span of time. Though
Dexon was the only person whom I knew before, not even for a fraction of a second I
felt like a stranger there. For instance, when I was trying to carry a heavy bench
alone, one of them scolded me like a loving mother, “Saju, don’t you want to go back
to Malaysia? It is very heavy ; don’t carry it alone.” See, how they care for others,
with such a maternal affection. Especially, I feel proud of having Dexon as my friend.
For many days, he was literally not sleeping since he was very busy in connection with
the program. Still, he found time to be with me, though he !
was so tired, running without rest for many days.

The program was marvelous, with enlightening talks, touching skits and music reaching
deep into the hearts and prompting for changes. Above all, there was a ready smile on
everybody’s face, having not even a mild touch of artificiality, but originated from
heart. Nearly 300 youth attended it. I am sure, most of us got a tender touch of our
Lord during the program, and many of us took a life long commitment to live for & with
our Lord.

Dear Singapore friends, I miss all of you. Now I feel like a child returned to the
hostel, after spending a short vacation at his home. But we know, all of us- all JYs-
are bonded to each other with the strong chords of Jesus’s love, even if we go to two
extreme ends of the world.

I am sure, our good Lord will help us to see the sprouting and growth of Jesus youth
in Malaysia too, as he has showered his blessings in Singapore. Please keep Malaysia
too in your prayers. Also, please say one decade of a rosary for Malaysia JY, daily if
possible.

With love and prayers,

Saju P.J,

 Malaysia

[JOYnet] "Parable Of The Rose"

2002-09-04 Thread sajeev alex

Dear Friends,

"PARABLE OF THE ROSE"

A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully and before it
blossomed, he examined it. He saw the bud that would soon blossom, but
noticed thorns upon the stem and he thought, “How can any beautiful flower
come from a plant burdened with so many sharp thorns?” Saddened by this
thought, he neglected to water the rose, and before it was ready to bloom,
it died.

So it is with many people. Within every soul there is a rose: The God-like
qualities planted in us at birth growing amid the thorns of our faults. Many
of us look at ourselves and see only the thorns, the defects. We despair,
thinking that nothing good can possibly come from us. We neglect to water
the good within us, and eventually it dies. We never realize our potential.

Some people do not see the rose within themselves; someone else must show it
to them. One of the greatest gifts a person can possess is to be able to
reach past the thorns and find the rose within others.

This is the characteristic of loveto look at a person and know their
true faults. Accepting that person into your life, while recognizing the
nobility in their soul. Help them to realize that they can overcome their
faults. If we show them the rose, they will conquer their thorns. Only then
will they blossom many times over.

[JOYnet] On Pranic Healing

2002-09-04 Thread Giju George

Hi
Some time back there was some discussions on occult practices like
pranic healing.
There were some questions whether it's good or bad.
I got this article from Shalom.

If you have a little time visit
http://www.shalomprayer.org/tidings

Thanks
Giju

THE CHAKRAS IN THE OCCULT

Annie Beasant is widely known as the person who
was responsible for building a common
agenda in India and Europe about the freedom
struggle. She was well known as the co-founder
of the Benares Hindu University and the
Theosophical Society. It was she who rendered a
theoretical explanation for the mysterious and
philosophical branch of occultism, which did not
have any particular theoretical basis till then,
and made it generally acceptable to the modern
world.

The word 'Occultism' means mysterious, magical,
paranormal, etc. Something that is
inaccessible to the ordinary people, esoteric
knowledge made available only to a selected few,
the way to obtain and practice it, etc are some
other meanings that may be given to the word
'occultism'. Till the twentieth century, occult
groups worked very secretly. Only those prepare
specially and conduct certain rituals can enter
such groups. Interacting with the divine through
divine knowledge, transcendental power, contact
with the spirit world, understanding the secret
of creation and life, etc are the objects of these
occult organizations. Almost all occult
organizations believe in reincarnation.

Many are attracted to the occult by the healings
and miracles done using occult power. People
who yearn for transcendental and extraordinary
experiences are easily carried away by such
philosophies. In the modern world occult knowledge
is being proliferated as Metaphysics,
Parapsychology, Theosophy, Transcendental
Knowledge, Eastern Mysticism, Alterative
Medicine, etc. Occult literature and meditation
courses have turned into big businesses
exploiting the uncertainty and void present in the
modern man's life. As the occult has exposed
itself to the world, unlike to that of the last
century, the name itself has lost its significance.
Occultism can be called as an unscientific science
or an unspiritual spirituality.
All occult knowledge is based on the 'chakras' of
the human body. Through the seven energy
centers, from the basic chakra (Kundalini is said
to be asleep here) located at the base of the
spine to the crown chakra located at the crown of
the head, we not only obtain healing and
other mystical experiences but also enter the
mystical outer world distinct from the natural. If
the Kundalini is awakened and rises from the basic
chakra to the crown chakra we attain
enlightenment. We would become another Buddha.
Then there would not be any difference
between God and us. Or simply, I am God.

Today's people are attracted to occultism through
the occult treatment methods. Gem therapy,
Rudraksha therapy, Pranic healing, Reiki, Crystal
healing, Astral therapy and Aromatherapy
are the major occult treatment methods. The basic
theory of these treatment methods is that
the chakras in the body and the energy body around
the physical body can be healed by the
energy from other human bodies, rudraksha, gems
and certain planets. Occult philosophy
teaches that the activation of the energy centers
that control and energize the vital organs of
the body would lead to spiritual contentment and
complete physical healing.

It is true that every object has an energy body
and a magnetic centre. But it is doubtful about
its ability to heal. For instance let us consider
Pranic Healing. The theory that it is due to the
damage in the energy body around the physical body
that causes illness is absolutely wrong. It
is equal to saying that the absence of light
extinguished the fire. Actually it is because the fire
was put out that the light died out. Similarly we
wouldn't say that because the leaves dried, the
roots of the plant died. Here the treatment is to
be done for the roots and not for the leaves.
When the root gains life the leaves become
healthy. Similarly it is a physical ailment that
causes depletion or pores in the energy body.
Therefore a healing through the strengthening or
recovering of the energy body by means of another
person's life force without treating the
physical problem would not stay. Consider headache
that may occur due to a number of
reasons. When a headache occurs due to gas
trouble, nervous problem, eye sickness, etc.
resulting in a crack to the energy body around the
body, would the physical body or the energy
body be treated? When the physical body gets
healed the energy body would also recover.
Energy body does not need a separate treatment.

Then what about the healing got through Pranic
healing? Healing may occur through the many
sessions of counseling, faith building advices and
prayer. But in the healing sessions
conducted by people like Mr.Choa Kok Sui, the
propounder of Pranic healing, and others occult
power is used. They have made it clear through
their books that

[JOYnet] How to carry your burden

2002-09-04 Thread Jennifer

How To Carry Your Burden

Many times in life we get caught up with life's troubles and tend to
forget to lend a helping hand to someone else in need. The enemy of
hell tries hard to get us to only think of ourselves and not be helping
toward others indeed, but that is exactly the opposite of how God wishes
for us to act.

Jesus said by loving and caring for others, all people will know that
we are His disciples. We are to love and be caring towards all who are
in need and in doing so, our inner light will shine and all will see the
love of God through our lives. (Luke 6:35-36) (Matthew 5:16) If you are
ever discouraged from helping other people because you think it will
interfere with your life, then I hope this message will change your
thinking and you will know that only in helping others will you gain
the strength to help yourself and carry the burden of your own life.
(Galatians 6:2-10)

HOW TO CARRY YOUR BURDEN

A monarch of long ago had twin sons. There was some confusion about
which one was born first. As they grew to young manhood, the king
sought a fair way to designate one of them as crown prince. All who
knew the young men thought them equal in intelligence, wit, personal
charm, health, and physical strength. Being a keenly observant king, he
thought he detected a traitin one which was not shared by the other.

Calling them to his council chamber one day, he said, "My sons, the day
will come when one of you must succeed me as king. The burdens of
sovereignty are very heavy. To find out which of you is better able to
bearthem cheerfully, I am sending you together to a far corner of the
kingdom. One of my advisors there will place equal burdens on your
shoulders. My crown will one day go to the one who first returns
bearing
hisburden like a king should."

In a spirit of friendly competition, the brothers set out together.
They overtook an aged woman struggling under a burden that seemed far
too heavy for her frail body. One of the boys suggested that they stop
to help her. The other protested: "We have a burden of our own to worry
about. Let us be on our way."

The objector hurried on while the other stayed behind to give aid to
the aged woman. Along the road, from day to day, he found others who
also needed help. A blind man took him miles out of his way, and a lame
man slowed him to a cripple's walk.

Eventually he did reach his father's advisor, where he secured his own
burden and started home with it safely on his shoulders. When he arrived
at the palace, his brother met him at the gate, and greeted him with
dismay. He said, "I don't understand. I told our father the burden was
too heavy to carry. How were you able to do it?" The future king
replied thoughtfully, "I suppose when I helped others carry their
burdens, I found the strength to carry my own."

It is very easy for us to be selfish and only care about our own
well-being, but I believe it shows more character in a person that
cares about the wellness of others. The apostle John tells us to not
only love inword but also love in deed. He means for us to not only
talk about helping others, but do something that will help someone else
who is not able to help themselves in a particular situation. (1 John
3:16-19)

How can we carry one another's burdens? I believe by the simple act of
love and taking an interest in someone's life, a person can be
encouraged and feel a whole lot better about themselves and feel less
burdened.

Simple things can be done that will not only enrich that person's life
that you are helping, but also bless you for being a blessing. (2
Corinthians: 6-9)

The next time you are tempted to be selfish and not helping towards
someone else in need, I hope you will remember this message that shows
that only in helping others, will you gain the strength and ability to
help yourself and reach the finish line carrying the burden of your
life that is otherwise unbearable. (Luke 6:38) (Psalm 28:7-9) (Matthew
5:7-9)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

1 John 3:16-19 "By this we know love, because He laid down His life for
us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But
whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts
up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little
children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in
truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure
our hearts before Him."

John 13:34-35 Jesus says, "A new commandment I give to you, that you
love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for
one another."

Galatians 6:2-4 "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of
Christ. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is
nothing, himself. But let each one examine his own work, and then he
will have rejoicing in himself alone, and n

[JOYnet] Hair cut

2002-09-04 Thread George Joseph Fernandes

A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father,
(who was a minister) if they could discuss his use of the car.

His father said to him, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your
grades up, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut, then we
will talk about it."

A month later the boy came back and again asked his father if they could
discuss his use of the car.

His father said, "Son, I'm real proud of you. You have brought your
grades up, you've studied your Bible diligently, but you didn't get hair
cut!"

The young man waited a moment and replied, "You know dad, I've been
thinking about that. You know Samson had long hair, Moses had long
hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair."

His father replied, "Yes son, and they walked everywhere they went!"
