If you follow Mary
You will not swerve from the right path;
If you pray to Her, you will not fall into despair;
If She holds you, you will not fall;
If She protects you, you need not fear;
If She leads you, you will never weary; and
If She befriends you, you will be safe.

Re: [JOYnet] Something beautiful....

2002-10-12 Thread Prejomy Jose

Hai all,

Realy the site is beautiful enough to encourage and re-think the status of
us that where we are now and where we should be. If we have experinced Jesus
in its real sense, then we will run like a dog whose leg has been burnt, for
proclaiming the Good news to all. It is our duty to give the gospel to the
whole world and we should start from our neighbours. Pls don't think that it
is only the duty of certain Priests, religious and missonaries to proclaim
the gospel and ours is to lead only a prayerful good life. In the parable of
"the rich and Lazer", it is nowhere mentioned that the rich men did any evil
things. But he was not generous and kind to his fellow human being.

We should be the 5th Gospel in our deeds as Mat 5:16. We should show it in
our life and definitely we SHOULD PROCLAIM THE WORD OF GOD to all whom we
are dealing with, in our day to day life.

As Rm 8:16 says we have received not the Spirit of fear.

Be BOLD to proclaim Jesus as our SAVIOUR, LORD & MESSIAH

In Jesus

[JOYnet] Hi/Hello and Stuff like that!

2002-10-12 Thread josunjose

Dear friends,

Its been quite sometime since I’ve written to joynet. Well, the reason
mainly being I don’t have a compy at my disposal and the Intenet café’s
here in the vicinity …tend to leave a hole in my pocket.

I’ve missed Joynet tremendously. But also I’ve learnt how to be detached.
That’s something good I guess.

I’m hear in Bangalore since August 14. Sorry I couldn’t meet any of the
Jy’s here. I’ve been extremely tied up. I hope to come for one of the
night vigils before I leave blore. Please do bear with me, Blore Jys.

I’m here participating in the 3 months School of evangelization by ICPE
India. It has been a beautiful time for me personally. With a break from
family, job, ministry and other nitty gritties of life’s rat race. I’ve
never had such a close time of sitting at the feet of our Lord and waiting
on him. The theme of the school is based on Issiah 40:31….

”They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar as
with eagles' wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow
faint. “

The first phase of the school was the input phase. We had different
speakers speak on various topics. We’re now moving into the outreach phase
of the school.

I felt prompted to write to joynet coz today we had a session on prolife
by Vinay Kamath. I watched one of the most gut wrenching documentaries
I’ve ever seen on anti abortion.

The name of the video is Eclipse of Reason. I heard someone in Mumbai has
secured the rights to reproduce this film in India which otherwise is
quite costly in USD. I don’t know the details, but I’m sure we can get
them.

Those of us into the prolife ministry. I feel it would be a wonderful idea
to watch this film if possible.

Well, Bangalore is a wonderful place with wonderful people. The climate
hear is just heavenly. I get clean air to breathe. For a guy from Delhi
this is a luxury. There’s a saying we commonly use in Delhi…” breathing in
Delhi is injurious to health….”. They say 1 day in delhi is like smoking 3
ciggaretes.

I'll stop with one of the captions i saw in one of the prolife movies
about Contraception/safe sex/AIDS

"abscence doesn't make the heart grow fonder but abstinence makes the
heart beat longer!" (this was in relation to the myth about using condoms
as means for safe sex)

I once again apologize for my silence and hope to cough up some mails
soon. Love u all in Jesus,

Love and prayers and God bless,

Josun Jose/Blore

RE: [JOYnet] Please advice - please pray!

2002-10-12 Thread Primeson James

Dear Friend

I do not know really what to tell you but I have some suggestions.

You friend have given some clues to his monther,
If the matter is serious why he can't explain the situation.
Before he sending the snaps, Let your friend sit with his parents.
Let them decide what to do.

If they can explain to their daughter by telephone, it is easy
or they can ask her what is her plann.

We are praying for her.
Not to jump down any more bad situation in her life.
Let God have mercy on her.

May God Bless her.

Subject: [JOYnet] Please advice - please pray!

Dear friends,

I have a prayer request. Actually I sent this same topic e-mail last week
through jesusyouth's "Prayer Board." But, I haven't received any reply
expect one. What's this prayer board actually means? Not all the Jesus youth
members get the message that posted on the prayer board?

Let me come to the point. I need some advice + prayer. This is for my
friend. My friend's sister is in America (malayalee) and going through a
very bad life style. She is trying to imitate the American ways and we are
scared whether she is going to face a big problem in the future. She was
born and brought up in Kerala.

She had so many boyfriends (different nationality) and currently she has a
Pakistani Muslim boyfriend. Her family is not aware of her relationships.
My friend, her brother, came to know about her and is really worried. He
tried to tell his mother about her (by giving some clues about her life
style) - but the mother didn't bother to trust him or didn't bother to take
any action.

This girl makes up lots of stories at home and goes for long trips - with
her boyfriend. Through some sources, my friend got a picture of her with
her muslim boyfriend. Since his parents really don't bother to believe him,
he is planning to send this picture via post (or he is planning to talk to
his paretns again and hopefully they will understand the seriousness).

Can you all please pray for her and her family. Please pray for her to
understand the real world and God's love. Also, can someone please pray and
let us know what exactly God would like us to do in her matter." Is
it a good idea to send the picture to home? Is it better to talk to her
parents again? Is my friend making his sister into a big trouble? My friend
is really worried about his sister.

Can you please e-mail me back at [EMAIL PROTECTED] - as soon as
possible.

Thank you, Your friend!

[JOYnet] The Scriptural Basis of the Eucharist

2002-10-12 Thread george kuriakose

The Scriptural Basis of the Eucharist

The Catholic Church traces the origins of the
Eucharist to the very actions and words of Jesus
Christ Himself as recorded in the three synoptic
Gospels, the gospel of Saint John and as described by
Saint Paul in the New Testament. The use of bread and
wine as an offering begins under the Old Covenant as
described in the Book of Genesis:

"And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and
wine; he was priest of God Most High."

Genesis 14:18
*
As they began their exodus from Egypt, the Jews ate
unleavened bread (Exodus 12:15), made necessary
because of their haste to flee, and they continue to
this day to honor this occasion with unleavened bread
when they celebrate Passover; the last "cup of
blessing" at the end of the Passover meal was a cup of
wine used to celebrate the fact that God had blessed
His chosen people and would bless them again someday
in Jerusalem. They ate manna - bread sent from Heaven
- as they wandered the desert in search of the
Promised Land, finally settling there as God had
promised them. After they lost their land because of
their continued failure to keep the Commandments of
God, they were sent prophets who predicted that a
Messiah would be sent by God, a saviour who would
bring them back to their original place of honor
before God. He arrived about 2,000 years ago.

Jesus' life began in Beth-Lechem...the House of Bread
(Matthew 2:1). His first public miracle was at a
wedding party in Cana (John 2:2-5), where He turned
water into wine in response to a request by His
mother. With the miracle of the multiplication of the
loaves (Matthew 14:14-20), as Jesus blessed the loaves
of bread and distributed them, He prefigured the
superabundance of the unique bread that was to be His
Eucharist. After teaching and healing the sick and
working other wonders in the hills of the Galilee,
Jesus had developed a wide following with many
disciples. It was at the synagogue of Capernaum, at
the time of the feast of Passover, that Jesus began to
unfold the nature of His Eucharist to those who were
following Him:
*
"Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the
food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of
man will give to you; for on Him has God the Father
set His seal."

John 6:27

When His followers asked about the nature of this
eternal food, Jesus replied:

***
"I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not
hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst."

John 6:35

**
When they heard this remark, some of His followers
began to murmur among themselves since they knew He
was just a carpenter, the son of Joseph. How could
this man be the bread of life? Yet Jesus persisted as
He explained Himself to them:

**
"I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if
any one eats of this bread, he will live forever; and
the bread which I shall give for the life of the world
is my flesh."

John 6:51

This comment brought outright consternation to a
number of those who had followed Him. He was actually
telling them that they had to eat His flesh, an
unthinkable act. If His words were confusing or
misleading them in any way, then He would have
corrected their misunderstanding...but He didn't.
Instead, He emphasized yet again His meaning when He
said:
**
"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh
of the Son of man and drink His blood, you have no
life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood
has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last
day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is
drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood
abides in me, and I in him."

John 6:53-56
*

Many of those who heard Jesus say this couldn't accept
it despite the fact that He explained and further
clarified His statements three times in attempting to
address their lack of understanding and their
unwillingness to accept His words. He tried again a
fourth time to help them comprehend what He was
saying:
*
"It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is of no
avail; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit
and life."
John 6:63

**
After saying this, many of those who had been
following Him chose to stay away. He tried four times
to teach them and in the end only a few accepted His
teachings. Why didn't they comprehend Jesus, as many
still don't comprehend Him after 2,000 years? Probably
because they didn't understand that Jesus was the
completion of the Passover begun in Egypt over a
thousand years earl
