[JOYnet] Important prayer request! - P L E A S E!

2003-02-26 Thread Rosy .
My dear Joynet family,

I have an important prayer request for you. Please pray very hard so that
God will do miracles in this impossible situation.

This prayer is for a family (husband, wife, two kids) who is very close to
me. The couples have been married for the past 7 years. Their family life is
nothing but terrible. The husband/chettan has been accusing the wife/chechy
all these years. He hurt her physically & mentally.. He is addicted to
alcohol. His main problem is uncontrollable temper. This chechy and her
family tried their best to please this man all the time but no use.

The actual problem started even before their marriage (since the day before
their engagement day).

[This chettans family background is also very bad. His parents were
separated for a long time (not divorced). After so many years, now the
parents are living together. So when this Chettan was young, he lived with
his father and his sister lived with his mother. I can simply say that his
father is a living satan. I am sorry to say thatbut thats what everyone
says about him. His mentality, attitudes, things he doesall are totally
different than a normal human being. Chettan in this story loves his father
so much and will do only whatever his father tells him to do. Anyway, His
mother is such a pavum lady like the Chechy in this story. Just few months
back, his sister got divorced. She has one son. Basically the whole family
has some fundamental problems.]

This family hasbeen going through problems. Even the Chechys family thought
aboutdivorce with this Chettan. They lived separately almost two months.
Butnow they are living together.but the problems are still there.

Anyway, this Saturday we having a special retreat for married couples in our
church. This is very special that its only including a very small number of
couples.

Someone contacted this chettan before and asked him to attend this retreat.
He said he will attendBut, two days ago, he told his wife that..dont
think I will go to the retreat ..i dont want anyone to hope that they
will see me change because of this retreat..njan retreat-ne poyittu
marunnathu kanan arum agrahikkanda..enne nannakkan arum nokkandaetc etc
etc.

We all were hoping to see a miracle in their family life after this
Saturday. But, now.we all are depressed that he decided to not to go.

But, I am sure God can do miracles in secondsIts never late for our loving
Father. So, can you all please pray for this familyespecially for him to
have the desire to attend this retreat. Pleaspleaseeeplease
pray ...

WIth love and prayers, Rosy, USA

[JOYnet] A Lesson for every salaried employee (story)

2003-02-26 Thread Primeson James
Forwarded message

A lesson for every salaried employee

A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he sees a dog
coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again.
So, he goes over to the dog and notices it has a note in its mouth. He takes
the note and it reads "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please". The
dog has money in its mouth, as well. The butcher looks inside and, loand
behold, there is a ten dollar note there.

So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in
the dog's mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing
time, he decides to shut the shop and follow the dog. So off he goes. The dog
is walking down the street, when it comes to a level crossing, the dog puts
down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then it waits patiently, bag
in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and it walks across the road, with
the butcher following him all the way.

The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The
butcher is in awe as the dog stops a bus by pulling its left leg up and gets
in it. The butcher follows the dog into the bus. The dog then shows a ticket
which is tied to its belt to the bus conductor. The butcher is nearly fainting
at this sight, so are the other passengers in the bus. The dog then sits near
the driver's seat looking outside waiting for the bus stop to come. As soon
as the stop is in sight, the dog stands and wags its tail to inform the
conductor. Then, without waiting for the bus to stop completely, it jumps out
of the bus and runs to a house very close to the stop. It opens the big iron
gate and rushes inside towards the door. As it approaches the wooden door,
the dog suddenly changes its mind and heads towards the garden. It goes to
the window, and beats its head against it several times, walks back, jumps
off, and waits at the door.

The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog,
kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him. The butcher surprised with
this, runs up, and stops the guy. "What in heaven's name are you doing? The
dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me!", to which the guy
responds: "You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this
stupid dog's forgotten his key."

Moral of the story .

You may continue to exceed onlookers' expectations but shall always fall
short of the bosses' expectations.

[JOYnet] Introduction

2003-02-26 Thread robin
Dear Joynetters

I am Robin Jacob, working in a software firm in Trivandrum, India. I
joined the list yesterday.

I found the list interesting since it discusses issues which really
concern the youth of today. I look forward to enrich myself from the
views expressed in this forum and to contribute.

I skimmed through the archives and found the thread on marriage and
love quite interesting. Though I am not an authority to define love
from an ideological perspective, I strongly feel that a relationship
grows when it is nurtured. It takes effort and commitment to
strengthen the bond. Society, church and culture provide strong
nutrients to this relationship.

I find the discussion strongly skewed towards the erotic aspect of
premarital love, which is considered sinful. I have often seen that
many relationships, before and after marriage, does not grow out of
this aspect alone, but in the compatibility and companionship each one
provides in terms of trust, admiration and respect.

Best Wishes
Robin Jacob
Trivandrum/India

Re: [JOYnet] Don't fall and get fractured

2003-02-26 Thread Wilson Thomas
Hi Friends,

Sebastian inspired me to share my experience as well. My parents asked my
permission to look for a girl. I said it is you decided everything until
now. So you will choose my girl. They were very happy hearing that. I was in
Singapore that time.

They arranged marriage and informed me the date of betrothal and wedding!! I
did not even saw a photo my girl. I took leave and got married to the same
girl. She is a true gift for me from God. When my parents were planing, here
in Singapore there was a prayer group praying for me to guide my parents to
choose the best.

How God acted? Believe.. what you are going to read is true ..

That time there was another strong proposal for "my girl" from a rich
family. They have decided to fix that. The day before giving world they all
went to Church and prayed. That night my father -in-law saw a dream of
cremation and he was there. He got scared and rejected that proposal. Next
choice (but God's first choice) was mine. The same they did. All went to
Church and prayed one day before giving us word. That night he dreamt a
marriage feast. He was walking around and talking to everyone happily. They
FIXED my proposal..

Let me repeat the "words of Sebastian"

> Blessed are those who get married with the one selected by God for you.
> Blessed are those who wait and discern Gods plans before falling and get
> fractured.

Praise the Lord

[JOYnet] ETHE END-TIME GLOBAL REVIVAL:WHAT IS YOUR VIEW?

2003-02-26 Thread Jude Asogwa
E: END TIME GLOBAL REVIVAL WHATS YOUR VIEW?

Dear Joynetters,
May you ever remain blessed. This write up is aimed
at making a clear elaboration on the questionnaire I
sent to you on the above subject, as some of our
brothers demanded. Actually, the central focus of
the forthcoming publication of which I requested to
have your personal views is not on end time. The
word "end-time" is used here to describe the period in
which we are and the classification of the expected
revival in our time. The focus is on global revival.
Many people have their different views concerning the
end-time and these views often results in controversy.
However, my approach to it is from general scriptural
and Christian perspective.
In his letter to the exiles of dispersion in Pontus,
Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bittynia, St Peter said;
The end of all things is at hand, therefore keep
sane and sober unto prayers (Pet.4:7). The Catechism
of the Catholic Church further explained: Since the
ascension, Gods plan has entered into its fulfiment.
We are already at the last hour Already the final
stage of the world is with us, and the renewal of the
world is irrevocably under way, it is even now
anticipated in a certain real way, for the church on
earth is endowed already with a sanctity that is
real but imperfect. Christs Kingdom already manifests
its presence through the miraculous signs that attend
its proclamation by the church (C.C.C No. 670)
While St. Peter tells us that the end of all things
is near, the church draws our attention to the fact
that we are in the "last hour". To make this clearer,
St. Peter added But by the same word the heavens and
earth that now exist have been stored up for time
being kept until the day of judgement and
destruction of ungodly men (11 Pet. 3:7)
However, St. Peter did not hesitate to clarify
himself thus: But do not ignore this fact, beloved
that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and
a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow
about
His promise as some understand slowness, but is
forbearing
towards you, not wishing that any should perish, but
that all should reach repentance. But the day of the
Lord will come like a thief and then the heavens will
pass away with a loud noise and the elements will be
dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that
are upon it will be burned (11 Pet. 3:8-10)
In summary, we could see that the end of all things
which is also referred to as the last hour is at hand
but the date and time of actual end is unknown to
man. We could also see that God is being patient to
see if all may reach repentance,. This therefore
means that the end-time does not just refer to the end
day but to the periods that preceed the end day. And
we can also see that the period in which we are is
referred to as the end-time or the last hour as
Catechism puts it. But as to when and how the actual
end will be we do not know.
Since it is not Gods will that any one should perish
but that all should come to repentance, the end-time
global revival is all about what God is doing at these
last hours of grace through his people on earth in
order to save the whole church from decay and the
entire human race from destruction. It also refers to
the actions of the Holy Spirit in convincing the
world on the truth of sin, righteousness and
judgement.
Contributors should therefore not border themselves
with how the end will look like and when it will be
but should write based on their view of what God is
doing in and through the universal church to restore
His people to Himself.
What actually is your view on
what God is doing in these latter days especially in
your
country?
What are the obstacles to this global
revival?
Are you a part of it? What is your personal
commitment to this global revival?
 How do you intend
to make Christ know to your generation?
A paragraph or two is enough (at most a page) .
May the Holy spirit inspire you to make a
contribution that will help people in other parts of
the world to wake up from slumber.
Thanks.

[JOYnet] RE:GET UP FROM THE LAPS OF DELILAH

2003-02-26 Thread Jude Asogwa
Dear Joynetters,

Greetings in Jesus name. I discovered that the above
write-up has attracted actions and reactions,as it
coincided with Valentine season when much articles are
written on the subject of love. The comments of all
are
very very interesting as each person has his own
understanding and interpretation of the above subject
matter, but for the purpose of clarity especially as
this has to do with love, I wish to make the following
observations:
God instituted love and commanded all to love, the
greatest commandment according to Jesus is that we
love the Lord our God and second which is next to it
is that we love our neaighbour as we love ourselves
(Matt 22:36-39) We cannot do without loving one
another but we must bear in mind that the world`s
concept of love is errotic and that is why a lot of
people today are becoming crazy about love.
People have defined lust as love because of the
sexual
feelings they have towards each other and this has
resulted in many backsliding from faith like Bro.
Samson. Love that makes one to offend God is not love
indeed, no matter how we claim to love our partners if
such love leads us to committing sexual immorality
then that love is not love afterall but lust of the
flesh and that was the problem of Samson and Delilah.

We should bear in mind that the history of the
past heroes of faith is made availaible to us in other
that we may be able to see the greateness and mercy of
God and at the same time learn from their mistakes and
pick challenge from their great exploits.

Therefore we should not in anyway think that
Samson was right for falling in love with a girl from
Philistine because God had earlier warned Israelites
not to intermarry with them, it is therefore obvious
that any relationship with anybody in our time that is
like that of Samson and Delilah will result in
deviation and regret.
meanwhile Jesus has shown us by example how to
love. The love of Christ is self sacrificial ( Agape)
which is not based on what somebody can do for us but
on what we can do for somebody to the glory of God.
Let this kind of love grow amongst us; Love that
keeps no record of wrongs and cover multitude of sins,
love that is anchored on holiness and on Jesus who is
LOVE.

THANKS
Bro. Jude S.c. Asogwa

[JOYnet] "MY FATHER IN HEAVEN"

2003-02-26 Thread Mariam Paul
Dear Friends!

My name is MaryYardlin and I am a software engineer.I came to know about
this JoyNet a few days back ago through a friend of mine.I would like to
share a small poem against ABORTION which I had written in my
schooldays. I am not a poetess -:)...One fine day I felt that I had to
write a poem against this crueltyand thats how I wrote it.

The poem is written as narrated by the foetus. He wants to live and see
his mother and the world. When he is being killed he has no place to hide
nor escape and he pleads to his mother to spare him .He tells her how
much he longs to see his mums face. But unfortunately he becomes a victim
of Abortion. In the final stanza he find himself as an angel in the lap
of his creator who showers him with love and rains him with kissesThe
name of the poem is "My father in Heaven".

Any corrections in this poem and suggestions are most welcome...

MY FATHER IN HEAVEN

I have life and I want to live

I have right ,the right to see this world.

I want to grow like all babes do grow.

Oh!Mother please do not banish me from existence.

I long for the warmth, the warmth from your touch

I am your flesh and we are one blood

Oh!Mother I plead I want to live!

I cry out feebly - a voice no earthling would hear

I lay hidden deep in your flesh and blood

Anxiously am I waiting to see your face

Oh!Mother do not butcher me ,what wrong did I do??

I am a helpless mite ,cannot let out a cry

Please give me a chance to see the world.

Alas! The time has come and my end is near

My blood and marrow called out for justice

Isnt there anyone to love and accept me

I struggled with my little body to run and hide

But the world has won in its own dark ways

The hills became quiet , the autumn breeze flew

The streaming river flowed in gloom...

** ***

I found myself in heaven, on the lap of my creator

He showered me with love and rained me with kisses

He showed me his palm where my picture was engraved

Everlasting joy radiated from my face

And two little wings did he present me

A beautiful angel did I become.

He kept me to his chest and sang me a lullaby

"Oh!little baby you are precious to me"

I was so happy ,no longer am I worried

I closed my eyes and slept peacefully

Regards

[JOYnet] YOU SHALL NOT DIE WITH YOUR ENEMIES

2003-02-26 Thread Jude Asogwa
YOU SHALL NOT DIE WITH YOUR ENEMIES

God answered all the prayers of Samson in the Land of
Philistines. He pray that God might strengthen him
once more so that with a single blow he would avenge
one the Philistines for his eyes. God did it! But
Samson also said LET ME DIE WITH THE PHILISTINES
(Judges 16:30). As a result, Samson died with his
enemies, for the building collapsed on them all. Dont

you think that if Samson had not wished to die with
the philistines that he would have survived? I think
so. However, something prompted those words of Samson.
The following are what I feel contributed to that.

Firstly, Samson had lost his eyes. I have heard people
today who say that they prefer to die than to become
blind. May be Samson had the same kind of thought.
However, no matter how we may have been shattered by
our enemy through circumstance, we should never think
that there is no way out. I have encountered people
who were about commiting suicide for making one
terrible mistake or the other. Instead of helping the
issue it will result in eternal regret for we have no
right to take our lives. Although you may have lost
your focus in life, do not pray to die in that state.
Your marriage may have be shattered but the world has
not ended.

Secondly, Samson never saw the possibility of his
escape to Israel since he could no longer see.
Humanly speaking he was right to pray thus but in any
matter that involves God, there is nothing like
impossibility. With God all things are possible (MK
10:27). I believe that if Samson had prayed for Gods
deliverance, he would have got it. When you are in
such situation, do not look at the circumstances or on
your weakness for where mans ability stops that is
where Gods miracle begins. Trials can come our way,
there could be seemingly insurmountable mountain
before us but God can deliver us.

Thirdly, Samson might have also suffered from
self-condemnation. Actually, God gave him a lot of
opportunities to escape but he did not utilize them.
He might have felt so guilty that he no longer wished
to live. Many of us too suffer from feelings of guilt
for falling into one temptation or the other. Some of
us wish we were dead and cannot boldly talk in the
public. Why do you think so? God can still forgive
you! He calls you to come and settle the matter with
Him no matter how dark is your sins (Is.1:18). And if
God has forgiven you who can still condemn you? No
one, not even the devil has right to do so. So when
the devil brings you to justice, plead Gods mercy.

Re: [JOYnet] ON FALLING IN LOVE- ONCE AGAIN

2003-02-26 Thread Binu Asokan
Hi joynetters,

Having seen so many mails on this hot topic, "Love before marriage", my
observation is that each one of us has his/her own interpretation of the
terms we use. For eg, love. Ravi has finally mentioned of 4 types of love,
which I hope most of us will agree. Now that Josun has quoted CCC, I thing
things have been quite clear to each of us.

Whether falling (or standing up, or flying up, or whatever) in love is a sin
or not?
We have to answer this question taking into consideration of the persons
involved.
Sin, I suppose, is anything against love, faith, God's will.

A few examples:
1) When a small kid tries to cross a heavy traffic road on his own, his
parents object to it. Coz it's dangerous.
When he grows up, he can do it. For he is grown up enough to take good care
of him.

Now if I say - "Do not cross the road alone !!!". Is it right for everyone
??

2) God commanded Israel, "Do not mix up with the gentiles, people with
strange beliefs." Now God here asks people not to reach out to people of
other nations. He is setting up a clear boundary, or a barrier. Why? Is it
because God does not love gentiles, and have no concern for them. Are they
people whom God hated? Definitely the people of Israel believed so. But
Jesus, the Holy One of God commanded His disciples. Go into the whole world
and preach the Good News to all the creation. You will be my witnesses from
Jerusalem to Samaria and to the ends of the world."

See, the same God asks His people to reach out even to the gentiles. HAS OUR
GOD CHANGED? Is He following His strange moods? NO!!! The difference is
between the old Israel and the new one. The old one had not received Holy
Spirit in abundance as new one had.

Falling in love in itself is not a sin. We have to discern with the help of
the Holy Spirit whether a person whom we like is the chosen one for me or
not.
But those who are not mature enough to take decisions in sync with God's
will, I would cetainly discourage them. Not because it is a sin, but there
is a danger of messing up of lives, or going away from God. Like our dear
Catholic Church, I will not be convinced that it is God's will unless I get
clear signs from God; and at the same time would not like to conclude with
prejudice that it is not God's will or it is a sin or not.

"Everything is according to the law. But everything may not be useful".

Love,
Binu Asokan,
Mumbai.

i forward it to u as my previous mails are not coming in joynet.

This is my own story

Before my marriage, one of my friends brought a proposal for me from Kuwait.
She was also working here. We introduced each other, talked, understood each
other etc. etc.. Then What?

Next step is decision making, but before that discernment. I prayed to God,
but didnt get any discernment (I didnt know the tricks of Dr.Sindhu). Then
I made a suggestion, let us leave it for our parents to make the final
decision, until that we will wait(I am also tricky know?). My discernment
was this that God will speak through our parents.

Later our parents started enquiries, discussions etc. and finally they
disagreed each other for some silly reasons.

Now we had two choices.

(1) We are matured, have good jobs and can insist our parents to forget
about the disagreements and to go ahead with wedding arrangements.

Or

(2) To obey our parents and keep our relationship as good friends.

I selected the 2nd one (that was my discerning point) and called her to
inform it. I was little bit scared because I didnt know her stand. But for
my surprise, before I start, she was advising me to select the 2nd as she
already selected it.

You might be laughing, .as...wearefools. Am I right? But I would like to
mention a few points.

We were not lovers, means no commitments. So there was no disappointment
also.

I was well aware about Gods plans, though it was not clear for me. So no
chance for any jumps or falls.

Blessed are those who get married with the one selected by God for you.
Blessed are those who wait and discern Gods plans before falling and get
fractured.

(Dont worry if anybody fractured already, Lord can repair even a fractured
relationship)

RE: [JOYnet] Fasting Prayer for the month of March-03

2003-02-26 Thread jose joseph
Dear in Christ,

The Holy Father has declared March 05 (Ash Wednesday),
a day of Special Prayers and Fasting for the World
Peace. Let us all join with the Holy Church and
dedicate March 05 for this special intention. The
message of Pope is given below:

Pope Declares Ash Wednesday a Day of Prayer and
Fasting for Peace

March 5 to Be Set Aside Especially for the Middle East

VATICAN CITY, FEB. 23, 2003 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II
called for a day of prayer and fasting for peace,
especially in the Middle East, to be observed on Ash
Wednesday, March 5.

"For months the international community has been
living in great apprehension because of the danger of
a war that might disturb the whole of the Middle East
region and exacerbate the tensions that,
unfortunately, are already present at the beginning of
the millennium," the Pope said today, explaining the
reasons for his decision.

The Holy Father made this announcement before praying
the midday Angelus with the crowds gathered in St.
Peter's Square.

"It is a duty of believers, regardless of the religion
to which they belong, to proclaim that we will never
be able to be happy if we are against one another; the
future of humanity will never be able to be assured by
terrorism and the logic of war," the Pope continued.

"We Christians, in particular, are called to be like
guardians of peace in the places where we live and
work," he explained. "We are asked, that is, to be
alert, so that consciences will not yield to the
temptation to egoism, falsehood and violence."

Because of this, the Pontiff invited "all Catholics to
dedicate with special intensity next March 5, Ash
Wednesday, to prayer and fasting for the cause of
peace, especially in the Middle East."

"Above all, let us implore God for the conversion of
hearts and a generous view in just decisions to
resolve with adequate and peaceful means the contests
that hamper the pilgrimage of humanity in our time,"
he said.

"In every Marian shrine an ardent prayer for peace
will be raised to heaven with the praying of the holy
rosary," the Pope added. "I trust that also in
parishes and families the rosary will be prayed for
this great cause on which the good of all depends."

"This common invocation will be accompanied by
fasting, expression of penance for the hatred and
violence that contaminate human relations," John Paul
II noted.

"Christians share the ancient practice of fasting with
many brothers and sisters of other religions, who in
this way want to be despoiled of all pride and dispose
themselves to receive from God the greatest and most
necessary gifts, among which, in particular, is that
of peace," the Holy Father stressed.

The convocation to prayer and fasting is a
continuation of the marathon of meetings and contacts
undertaken by the Pope and his collaborators to avoid
the outbreak of war against Iraq and to try to put an
end to the violence in the Holy Land.

In recent days John Paul II has received, among
others, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, U.N.
Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Iraqi Deputy Prime
Minister Tariq Aziz and German Foreign Affairs
Minister Joschka Fischer, the current president of the
U.N. Security Council.

The Holy Father also sent Cardinal Roger Etchegaray to
Iraq, to meet personally with Saddam Hussein and with
the local Catholic community.

[JOYnet] The Struggle Within

2003-02-26 Thread SHAJI JOSE
Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Lets examine ourselves well before sending one more
mail on the topic on falling in Love and associated
sins.

Lets not conclude in a self righteous manner that
somebody will never fall if he/she has accepted
Christ.

When people came to stone the sinful person,
Jesus told one simple thing that made the crowd
realise that they too were sinners. They dispersed one
after the other, the oldest first and then the rest.

The clipping given below speaks about the way
Apostle Paul faught sin.

With lots of Christian love,

Shaji Jose
(Bangalore)

---

The Struggle Within
---

Romans 7:25 "I thank God through Jesus Christ our
Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of
God; but with the flesh the law of sin."

The Apostle Paul wrote the letter of Romans to the
Christian believers in Rome and to Christians
everywhere. In Romans 7:14 the Apostle Paul gives us a

description of his nature, he writes; "The law is
spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin." The
Apostle Paul recognized that although he met the Lord
on the road to Damascus and that he was called by God
to preach the gospel, he was carnal and imperfect and
still held in bondage to sin. As Christians, we
sometimes think that we are above sin and can no
longer sin, but Paul did not hold himself in that high
regard. He knew the truth that even though we was
converted on the road to Damascus he was still held
under sin. He goes on to describe the struggle he
constantly fought within himself as a believer. He
writes in verse 15, "For that which I do I allow not:
for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that
do I." What the Apostle Paul was saying that as a
believer he was still under the bondage of sin, for
the sinful things that he knew he should not do where
the very things that he would give into doing. And,
the things that he knew he was suppose to do were the
very things that he did not do. It was sin that the
Apostle Paul hated, but it was sin that he often
stumbled into. Then in verse 25 the Apostle Paul
clarifies how he dealt with this situation. He states
that it is with his mind that he served the law of
God, but with the flesh he served the law of sin.

Just because we have made a decision for Christ does
not mean that we are above sin. Our body is still
flesh, and flesh has a sinful nature. When we get to
heaven we will receive transformed bodies that no
longer are held to the law of sin. But until that day
we will have to fight "The Struggle Within". As
Christians we must press forward in our service for
the Lord, just as the Apostle Paul did knowing that we
are imperfect and will often stumble and fall into
sin. When we fall, we need to do what the Apostle Paul
did; pick ourselves up, dust off our clothes, and
press onward in serving the Lord. With our minds we
serve the Lord but with the body the law of sin. Just
as the Apostle Paul thanked God for no longer seeing
his sin, we too need to thank God every day for not
seeing our sin. And, remember it is because of the
shed blood of Jesus Christ upon the cross of Calvary
that God no longer sees our sin. All our sin's, past,
present, and future, are before God upon the mercy
seat covered by the precious shed blood of Jesus
Christ.

Thank you Lord, through the shed blood of Jesus
Christ, that with my mind I can serve you even though
my flesh is still sold under sin. Amen, and Amen!!!

[JOYnet] Love and Marriage (story)

2003-02-26 Thread Primeson James
Subject: Love and Marriage

One day, Plato asked his teacher, "What is love? How can I find it?" His
teacher answered, "There is a vast wheat field in front. Walk forward without
turning back, and pick only one stalk. If you find the most magnificent
stalk, then you have found love."

Plato walked forward, and before long, he returned with empty hands, having
picked nothing. His teacher asked, "Why did you not pick any stalk?"

Plato answered, "Because I could only pick once, and yet I could not turn
back. I did find the most magnificent stalk, but did not know if there were
any better ones ahead, so I did not pick it. As I walked further, the stalks
that I saw were not as good as the earlier one, so I did not pick any in the
end.

His teacher then said, "And that is love." On another day, Plato asked his
teacher, "What is marriage? How can find it?"

His teacher answered, "There is a thriving forest in front. Walk forward
without turning back, and chop down only one tree. If you find the tallest
tree, then you have found marriage." Plato walked forward, and before long,
he returned with a tree. The tree was not thriving, and it was not tall
either. It was an ordinary tree. His teacher asked, "Why did you chop down
such an ordinary tree?"

Plato answered, "Because of my previous experience. I walked halfway through
the forest, but returned with empty hands. This time, I saw this tree, and I
felt that it was not bad, so I chopped it down and brought it back. I did not
want to miss the opportunity."

His teacher then said, "And that is marriage."

CCC-1764: The passions are natural components of the human psyche; they

CCC-1765: There are many passions. The most fundamental passion is love,

CCC-1766: To love is to will the good of another. All other affections
have their source in this first movement of the human heart toward the
good. Only the good can be loved. Passions are evil if love is evil and
good if love is good.

CCC-1767: in themselves passions are neither good nor evil. They are
morally qualified only to the extent that they effectively engage reason
and will. The passions are said to be voluntary, either because they are
commanded by the will or because the will does not place obstacles in
their way. It belongs to the perfection of the moral or human good that
the passions be governed by reason.

CCC-1768: Strong feelings are not decisive for the morality or the
holiness of persons; they are simply the inexhaustible reservoir of images
and affections in which the moral life is expressed. Passions are morally
good when they contribute to a good action, evil in the opposite case. The
upright will orders the movements of the senses it appropriates to the
good and to beatitude; an evil will succumbs to disordered passions and
exacerbates them. Emotions and feelings can be taken up into the virtues,
or perverted by the vices.

CCC- 1769: In the Christian life, the Holy Spirit himself accomplishes his
work by mobilizing the whole being, with all its sorrows, fears and
sadness, as is visible in the Lords agony and passion. In Christ human
feelings are able to reach their consummation in charity and divine
beatitude.

And then I also got a bit on the section TO CHOOSE IN ACCORD WITH CONCIENCE

CCC-1786: Faced with a moral choice, conscience can make either a right
judgment in accordance with reason and the divine law or, on the contrary,
an erroneous judgment that departs from them.

CCC-1787: Man is sometimes confronted by situations that make moral
judgments less assured ad decision difficult. But he must always seriously
seek what is right and good and discern the will of God expressed in
divine law.

CCC-1788: To this purpose, man strives to interpret the data of experience
and the signs of the times assisted by the virtue of prudence, by the
advice of competent people, and by the help of the Holy Spirit and his
gifts.

CCC- 1789: Some rules apply in ever case:
-   One may never do evil so that good may result from it;
- The golden rule: whatever you wish that med would do to you, do so to
them
- Charity always proceeds by the way of respect for ones neighbor and his
conscience: Thus sinning against your brethren and wounding their
conscience. you sin against Christ. Therefore it is right not to. do
anything that makes your brother stumble (Rom. 14:21)
