Re: [JOYnet] Gospel-Truth or Lie?

2002-12-08 Thread rohin
The same problems were disturbing me too during my early days of Spiritual
rebirth. After long meditation and thoughts I did some homework on these
subject (years back ) and did some drafting just thinking of creating a
Website or booklet later (The Truth). My idea is to bring an Atheist or Non
believer from 0 to 100% belief. The narration will move something like this:

1. Is there a God?
2. Why there is God .
3. The Creator and Controller
4. Different beliefs/Religions and why.
5. Which is the 'True God' ?
6. Why Jesus Christ ?
7. The real 'GOOD NEWS' - (G-O-S-P-E-L - Gods Only Son Provides Eternal
Life )

a small extract from my draft about why Jesus Christ.

THEN WHY JESUS CHRIST?

BECAUSE

1. ALL MAJOR RELIGIONS AND SCRIPTURES (LIKE THE HOLY BIBLE, THE HINDU
SCRIPTURES- THE VEDAS & UPANISHADS, THE QURAN Etc. AGREES WITH THE GODLINESS
OF JESUS CHRIST.

2. BIRTH AND DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST IS A CONFIRMED HISTORICAL FACTOR. (He is
the one who is beyond history, and entered into history by dividing the
history into AD and BC, and that history is The Bible). WITHOUT JESUS THERE
IS NO HISTORY. WHEN WE MENTION A HISTORICAL FACTOR WE SHOULD EITHER MENTION
AD OR BC. EVEN THE DATE OR TIME WHEN WE EXPRESS IN OUR EVERY DAY ACTIVITIES
WE ARE PROCLAIMING THE INCARNATION OF JESUS -THE SON OF GOD- TO THE EARTH
(As the dates are expressed as AD which is derived from the Greek word Anno
Domine which means 'The Year of the Lord'). WE CAN REALLY SAY THAT HISTORY
REALLY MEANS 'HIS' 'STORY'!

3. STILL MIRACLES ARE HAPPENING IN HIS NAME. (SOLID PROOFS ARE AVAILABLE)

4. CHRISTIANITY IS THE LARGEST SINGLE RELIGION IN THE WORLD.

5. BIBLICAL PROPHECIES ARE FULFILLING DAY BY DAY. (LOT OF EXAMPLES ARE
AVAILABLE).

6. BIBLICAL VERSES ARE PROVED COMPATIBLE BOTH SCIENTIFICALLY AND
HISTORICALLY. (LOT OF EXAMPLES ARE AVAILABLE).

7. JESUS IS THE ONLY PERSON WHO ASSENTED FROM DEATH WITH HIS OWN POWER.

8. MUSLIMS & CHRISTIANS (THE TWO LARGEST BELIEVERS ON EARTH) BOTH BELIEVE IN
THE DIVINE BIRTH OF JESUS (FROM MARY THE VIRGIN MOTHER)

9. BOTH MUSLIMS & CHRISTIANS BELIEVE THE COMING BACK OF JESUS TO JUDGE THE
MANKIND AT THE END.

10. IN Q'RAN THE NAME OF JESUS IS MENTIONED MORE THAN 25 TIMES (FAR MORE
THAN ANY OTHER PERSONALITIES- EVEN THE NAME OF MOHAMED IS MENTIONED ONLY 3
TIMES)

11. ABOUT MOTHER MARY ALSO THERE ARE LOTS OF SCRIPTURES IN Q'RAN. EVEN THERE
IS A CHAPTER ITSELF NAMED AS 'SOURAT AL MIRIYAM' MEANS THE CHAPTER OF MARY.

(THIS LIST IS ENDLESS. THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL REVEAL YOU WITH MORE EVIDENCES
TO CONFIRM YOUR BELIEF)

Check the meaning of 'Savior' and 'Salvation' mentioned in Oxford dictionary
and confirm yourself.

A lot of Religions and religious leaders have come and has also gone from
this world. So many famous characters passed away from this land. But none
of them were mentioned as our Savior or Redeemer.

PRAYER TO HOLY SPIRIT

O HOLY SPIRIT .. THE SPIRIT OF OUR LORD JESUS. WE WORSHIP YOU. WE ADORE
YOU.. COME AND FILL WITH US. FILL US WITH THE HEAVENLY WISDOM.. TEACH US THE
SECRETS OF HEAVEN.. TEACH US THE REAL TRUTH.. TEACH US THE GOOD AND EVIL..
BE OUR ADVISER AND HELPER IN ALL OUR CONFUSIONS. LEAD US IN THE RIGHT PATH.
THE RIGHT PATH TO THE ETERNAL LIFE.

AMEN.

Actually Jesus Died on the Cross - in between the sky and earth in
between the evil and good ...(in between the good thief and the bad one)...,
in between AD and BC .(in between History)..., in between God and
Mankind In every aspect he is the mediator.

If anyone would ask me " what is the greatest event in History?", definetly
I would say in a loud voice : "The incarnation of God into Human flesh -
Jesus Christ. "and what will be the next gratest event we can expect,
offcourse the second coming of Jesus !

One more thing When all those mighty, famous guys died the world said "a
big gap in the society.. a total loss... etc etc. But when Jesus sacrificed
himself on the Cross... no one said it was a big loss or gap or anything of
that sort, rather it was the biggest gain the whole mankind got. The eternal
Salvation. The total redemptness. We can't compare any other life with the
life of Jesus. He is the only person who has risen from death; who conqured
death. And lot of relegious/spiritual personalities lived and died; but no
one claimed that I will come back except Jesus, and that He will take all
of us with him to the eternal Father in Heaven.

He has said so in John 14/1 onwards (please read)

Also let me tell you something in this aspect (of proclaiming Good News).
Whenever we try to introduce Jesus to a Hindu brother/sister, don't start
with the Bible. Start from there own belief. I mean from the Vedas and
Upanishads. They can find the Savior from there own books and eventually
they will be directed to Jesus 'the one and only Savior for the entire
mankind.
Now the real problem is that even the Hindu brothers do not know their real
Holy books- The Vedas and Upanishads. If you ask about this most of them
would say about the

Dear Bros and Sis,

I was no way trying to underline the importance
of the catholic church when I posted this piece. My
sincere apologies if I had confused you with my
thought. I try my best to be a devout catholic and
keep my catholic sacraments close to my heart. It is a
delight for me to receive Jesus atleast twice a day
through the Holy Communion.

But at the same time I have personally
experienced the power of the spirit of unity while
praying with my brothers and sisters in other
Christian denomination. Three years before when I was
in Chennai we used to meet during our lunch breaks in
a CSI church near my office. There were 2 catholics(I
being one of them) , 2 protestants from the Jesus
Calls ministry and a CSI girl. And I can personally
testify the power of God in those prayer meetings. Two
of these protestant boys fasted and bought the tickets
for the Rex Band programme(which is hardcore catholic
in nature , Praise God for that) sponsored and brought
their Hindu friends to this programme.

We see the best example of this lack of spirit of
unity between catholics and protestants in Northern
Ireland where neighbours kill each other just bcos
he/she is a catholic / protestant. The devil is surely
winning when the passion for your church turns into
animosity and judging towards another church. Just
imagine yourself in a VHP or Bajrang Dal stronghold in
North India proclaiming the Word of God.. They will
hit you not bcos you are a Catholic or a Protestant
but bcos you are speaking the Good News of Lord Jesus
Christ.

I personally think we should appreciate and
thank God for the catholic church and the immense
power that we had inherited through its sacraments but
at the same time we should look for the good things in
other Christian denominations.

hi Sanju,
I liked your sharing but I beg to differ on some thing you wrote
let me quote you ( please forgive me if I have mis-interpreted you
and correct me) " Any evangelization work driven by human
intellect and not driven by the Holy Spirit is bound to fail. We
see some christian churches(other than the catholic church)
steadily growing around the world simply bcos they go by the
directions given by the Holy Spirit."
 1. most of these so called christian churches started from the
16th centuary. where was the holy spirit before that ?
 2. countless of these christian churches have come and gone.
 3. I personally believe that these churches/evangelization work
is driven by human intellect.
 4. the catholic church began in ther UPPER ROOM and it still
exists to this day and will forever praise GOD.
 5. PLEASE let me know what you meant by"(other than the catholic
church)".I love the chatholic Church with all my heart I love the
pope, the bishops, every thing about the Catholic church. Jesus
him self gave us the pope from St. Peter, I have never heard of
any dissagrement about that, but there is disunity in the other
churches.
 6. Where do these christian churches get their followers from ?
do they take the trouble of converting non-christians or do they
target catholics ?
 7. how many of these christian churches believe in MOTHER MARY
and all the saints GOD himself has given us.

I can write endlessly on this topic. I spend a lot of my time
watching EWTN (eternal word television network), a catholic
channel on TV, there are programmes of a lot of ministers or
pastors of these christian churches who have embrased catholisism
. If you have the oppurtinity do read this book "ROME SWEET HOME"
by Scott & Kimberly Hanns. it is their road to becoming Catholics.
Scott was a pastor.
Once again I ask forgiveness of those I have hurt or offended by
my Comments, specially I ask God and the Holy Spirit forgiveness
if I have said something wrong. This is to everone never doubt the
strength and power of the Catholic Church in sheparding it flock
of sheep.

Your in CHRIST and a chatholic forever,

Hello family,

The Word of God is so powerful and brings about conversion of souls..no
doubt about it.

Testimonies ,i believe, are God's Word becoming flesh in our
lives...that;s why i think it also touches people so deeply.

I can't recall who said this ,but its really challenging.."Be careful how
you live your life, because your life may be the only Gospel some people
may get to read."

I;ve also heard that there are 5 gospels...of Mathew, Mark,Luke ,John and
the 5th one is me,you and all of us..very personel eh?...!!

And as St.Francis of Assissi said once"Let's all keep preaching and use
words only when its so necessary",

Re: [JOYnet] Gospel-Truth or Lie? - Important

2002-12-05 Thread Prejomy Jose
Cuckoo you are absolutely right. It is not only our testimony but the Gospel
has to be proclaimed. From Genisis to Revalation. But how?

Yes there we are and there is a way. It is called 'KERYGMA' a Greek word for
Initial Gospel Proclamation. We should know it and should use it for sharing
JESUS to anybody. I personaly experienced the power of Holy Sprit while
giving KERYGMA especially to non christians. Almost all will cry or somebody
will laugh with joy while hearing that. This makes others even muslims allow
me to pray for them by holding their hand.

In UAE, our Formation Programme is to enable the JY to give KERYGMA to
others.

I'll let you know more about KERYGMA and the way it shall be proclaimed in
the coming days. This we can adopt as a part of our life so that we can give
Jesus to anybody while we work, study, travel etc.

With lot of love and prayers in Jesus

Subject: [JOYnet] Gospel-Truth or Lie?
Date: Thu, 5 Dec 2002 10:58:33 + (GMT)

Dear JOYnetters,

Just writing some thoughts on a matter close to our heartsmy
experience, that's all...

After coming to the Renewal I've often struggled with the meaning of
GOSPEL. Good news... But what is so good abt. it that people are even
willing to give up their life for it? How does one 'share the gospel'? What
is a 'missionary'? How do we 'witness'?

These questions matter s much in our Jesus Youth lifestyle!!

The other day cos of power cut many of the hostelites were sitting under
the emergency light... studying hard for the internals. I was reading the
Bible. One of the girls became curious and asked me what I was reading.
"What is it, Cuckoo? " I looked at her eager face and looked back into my
Bible... and gulped. The Book of Romans... about God's just decree and the
salvation offered through belief in Jesus Christ and His resurrection.

"How do I explain it, O Lord?"

Sometimes I've encounterd protests, not because the message itself was
wrong but because the way i said it was not 'reasonable'.

"Everyone has their own personal beliefs, this is yours...your experience
counts only in your life, not in mine. You have no right to claim it is the
truth...because truth is relative. It's just the way you look at it. AND
the more you hear something the more you place your trust in it, and the
more it appears as the truth to you. How else can you account for the
folllowers of Matha Amrathanthamai and Sai Baba. It's just the feelings of
devotion. That's all."

Phew!

"Jesus", I asked, " How does one share the gospel?" Ok. Now I know many
will offer the easy answer ... through the power of the Holy Spirit. AND
that His power shines in our weakness ( lack of knowledge of the gospel).

But is that true? Will sharing ONLY our testimony always make any
difference? Nay...we all know that from experience. Followers of other
faiths can also share their testimonies. I felt peace, i felt this...this
happened, that happened ( i saw the other day some devotees doing
that...their faith is also very, very sincere). Anyway, not people who are
not that unhappy abt. life. Intelligent people need to KNOW the truth.

So, we need to share about what really happened in history ... the whole
story of the Bible, which will finally point to Christ as the Saviour. From
"In the Beginning ... to ...Come, Lord Jesus"! We need to believe that
God exists, that nature AND science too reveals His presence, that He'd
promised a Saviour through His prophets and in the fullness of time that
SON came and died for our sins, that we are sinners (hard) and that we
needed a Saviour outside of ourselves.

I say this because the other day I saw someone powerfully explaining the
gospel this way and drawing people towards the message of Jesus. How can
one resist the truth? Here the Holy Spirit helped the listeners to identify
Jesus as the Saviour because they heard the Truth (unless they r really
hardened :-) and invite Him into their lives.

How many Jesus Youth know enough to explain these things? We are stuck with
our testimony and do not respond most of the time to the need of our
non-Christian friends to know the TRUTH.

Let's take it as a challenge to learn these truths better (revealed in
bible, history science), so that when there is a need we can explain it to
our eager friends who want to know if the Gospel is the Truth or a lie.

Love in Jesus,

Cuckoo/ Mysore/ Karnataka
