Re: [JOYnet] Repentence

2001-07-16 Thread Irma

Dear Justine,

The best answer to that is this:
WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS CHRIST DIED FOR US... so we may live.

If God were to measure the hurts that each of us have caused during our life
time, would anybody every be worthy of forgiveness?

Let's look at our fellow humans not even human eyes but with the eyes of God.
Then we'll be able to see them as God sees them. It's very very difficult, but
nothing is impossible with GOd.

Irma,

Re: [JOYnet] Repentence

2001-07-17 Thread welchy fernandes

Look at the person who is begging for repentance .
He is anyway guilty of all the wrongs he has done .
He knows .he can not give back the loses done by him
when he was sinner. There is no way he can make up for
anything that is gone.He is such a lonely ,miserable
man ..& he finds there is none to help him with the
same .At this time he looks up to GOD who will
accept him .
Imagine at this stage God takes out the LONG list of
all wrongs the person has done & punishes him .u
know what effect it will have .The person will get
even more miserable .
Y do u think that sucide cases are on rise ,cos the
people who do such a blunder think that there is no
one who love them for the wrongs they have done .
Jesus knows our human psychology really well .That y
he kept & keeps forgiving all who do wrong to him &
in this process he makes place for himself in the
heart of a sinner. The Sinner is now becomes a Saint.

Justine,I just love to argue with my mom .Then when I
feel bad for what i say ...I have to give her tight
hug & she just understands!
If my earthly mother can be so understanding &
forgiving cant i expect much more from my
heavenly father ???

Dear Friends,

One of my friends asked me this doubt. If anybody can
share the ideas
about
it, it will be useful to others also.

In New Testament, we see the parable of Prodigal Son.
There we see
that he
repents after some time.

When one person commits a sin and it hurts the other
man, may be for a
long
period of time, the suffering person may lose so many
valuable things
in his
life. But after some time if the person who sinned
repents and turns
to
God, he can not give back the loses done by him when
he was sinner.

My friend's question is ; then what is the meaning of
this repentance?
The
God should punish him before he forgives his sin?

If anybody can share about this please come forward

Re: [JOYnet] Repentence

2001-07-17 Thread Saji Sebastian

Dear Justine and all JYs,
I can understand what Justine (or his friend) feels
now. Because I felt the same, once before in my life.

Let me share a personal experience. I was attending
a retreat and was praying for forgiveness. As friends
we had engaged in sin.. I have even lead people to
sin. Later you go back to get forgiveness from God
while the other person is still in 'sin'. That thought
put a heavy burden in my heart. I was praying in tears
for the other person. The father of the person whom I
was praying for was also present at the retreat and we
were sleeping on the same block. That night 'the
father' was talking with me and told that when he went
for the counseling they told him that there is an out
pouring of the Holy Spirit on this particular child of
him.
He didn't have to tell me this. I know for certain
that our Lord was making sure that I go back from that
retreat with a peaceful heart. The Love and compassion
of our Lord is beyond all our understanding. He is the
one who is able to repair all the damages we make. We
are very short sighted to all see this. If you have
destroyed someone's toy car the Lord may not give that
back, instead he may give a mercedez.

The FORMOST thing about forgiveness is that it
comes from the Lord. Only depending on His ability to
work on things, with faith, we just get back on to
Him.
With lots of Love and prayers
