[jQuery] Re: [ANN] jQuery Media Plugin

2007-06-01 Thread Mario Moura

Hi,

I have a .swf file

Jquery Pluging works fine but how can I insert a link in my swf file?

I tried flashvars, attrs, params, link, href.

Something like this:

jQuery(document).ready(function() {
$('.media').media( {
   width: 300,
   height:250 ,
   autoplay: true,
1)  flashvars: { getURL:'http:www.mylink.com', '_blank'}  /** whitout numers
1),2),3) of course **/
2) flashvars: { value: 'link=http:www.mylink.com'}
3) attrs: { link:  'http:www.mylink.com'}

   })
});

I am not developer of flash but I have someones I will be happy if I could
link them to some places without edit each one.

Is it possible?

Regards

Mario

Thanks, Bil. Problem, though, when I try to click 'Use this Plugin',
I can't (the textbox says 'None Available'). Are those -PC- instead
of -Mac- Firefox instructions? PCs need the Adobe Acrobat plugin,
but Macs don't. Safari is able to embed this default Mac PDF reader,
but Mac Firefox (with my current settings) isn't. Thanks!

don't know if this is a known issue or not!)

Within Firefox, go to Tools > Options, under File Types, click
"Manage...", scroll down to PDF, double-click on it, select the
radio button "Use this Plugin: Adobe Acrobat", click "Ok", click
"Close". You should be good to go.

@Alexandre: The plugin adds codebase and pluginspage attrs to the
object/embed elements so I think that's covered.

@Rob: I'm not sure if there is a benefit to satay or not . The
referenced article is specific to Flash but I'm supporting many other
media types as well. It's an interesting idea though and worth
looking into. In fact, MS implements its Silverlight component with
object tags only.

I can tell this is going to be really useful, thanks Mike. I was
wondering how easy it would be change it to use this approach for
embedding flash: http://alistapart.com/articles/flashsatay . I'm not
sure that there's any real benefit to it (validation) in this situation
seeing as the tags are delivered in the DOM only but standards
are always good and you could avoid some browser sniffing.

   Thanks again,
   Rob

Looks great! One suggestion, since it doesn't look like the plug-in itself
handles detection of the plug-in, you might want to place a copy of the
original element inside the object/embed tags--that way if the plug-ins are
disabled, they still see the original text.
