WAP-JSP

2002-03-18 Thread Panayiotis Periorellis

Hello ALL,

This is for people would have dealt with WAP before..

I have a WAP interface and I was wondering whether I could have a
hyperlink pointing to a JSP file...

For example I tried the following..but

 Telephone
  http://ouston.ncl.ac.uk:8080/wap.jsp";>
SoS TA

But it retured 413 error which means file too large...the wap.jsp is
only returing a number.I understand that there is something else that
needs to be done ...

Anybody any ideas?

Thanks in advance

You should be able to just import the servlet code into your VAJ
environment and to reference the servlet using the full package name.

Yes,

VAJ is a little flakey sometimes. Just reinstall again. But make sure you
export all your classes if you're not using a repository.

If you have the chance, you might want to upgrade to Websphere Application
Developer. It doesn't use the WTE which is the flakiest part of VAJ. Plus
it has better tools for web development if you have a need for that.

good luck

Re: Request time out problem........

2002-03-18 Thread Duane Morse

For that lengthy a response, it might be better from a user standpoint to
send
him e-mail when his "report" is ready and not make him wait.

If you absolutely have to keep the browser from timing out, you can trickle
an HTML
response back, sending HTML comment strings, for example, until the real
thing is ready.

Subject: Request time out problem

Hi All,

At present I am facing the request time out problem while the request is
executing on the server side.

I am running a task of importing thousands of transactions at once into
database, and it takes around 10 minutes to complete it. But before showing
the response page to the user, request gets timedout. I don't think that the
strategy will be to increase the browser timeout. Is there any alternative
solution available.

Please help

Re: Request time out problem........

2002-03-18 Thread Chris Pratt

One common way to handle this is to process the lengthy request in a
separate thread. Create a page that contains a graphic saying something to
the effect "One Moment Please..." and set the Meta Refresh tag to 1 minute.
When the request comes back in, check to see whether the thread has
completed. If it has, send back the results, if it hasn't send another "One
Moment Please..."/Meta Refresh page.

Of course 10-minutes is a very long time to wait, and unless it's specified
that the request could take that long, most people will give up long before
then.

com.oreilly.servlet.multipart

2002-03-18 Thread Lai, Kenny

im trying to create thumbnails on the fly with jason hunter's multipart
parser.. and using the sun codex package.

the uploading is real smooth and it works perfectly.. however, when i try to
add another level of
functionality (scale down images to a thumbnail), i'm running into some
issues..

i'm using a method called getInputStream(), which returns an input stream of
file you're trying to write to disk.
however, when i try to decode with sun's JPEG Decoder, i get an error:

com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.ImageFormatException: Not a JPEG file: starts with
0xff 0xd9 -->
(input stream return value is =
"com.oreilly.servlet.multipart.PartInputStream@58e902")

has anyone used this package for creating thumbnails and could give me a few
pointers?

code used below..

JPEGImageDecoder decoder =
JPEGCodec.createJPEGDecoder(fpart.getInputStream());
decoder.decodeAsBufferedImage();

Re: Join requests from more than 1JSP page

2002-03-18 Thread vijay

hi,
You can do this in different ways.

The best way is to use Beans for the JSPs. List all the parameters in the
Bean from all the three jsps. use set property = * to set all the form
values into the bean. later by using getter method u can get the required
values.

the another way is to use the hidden field for all the fields. based on the
jsp, u can make the hidden fields invisible. and shows only the required
fields.
