[j-nsp] Reboot: right or wrong ?
Gents, I’m looking for an expected behavior. A customer of mine runs periodically disaster recovery test and I’m not sure he follows the correct procedure in shutdown the devices (MX, EX, SRX). After a correct halting (request system halt) on all the involved devices, he usually turn-down power. I suspect he do not wait the correct time before power-down… and hence he power down before halting is completed…. In case of normal operation (halt + wait right time + power down) what should I’ve to expect as output of show chassis routing-engine ? 1) Last reboot reason 0x1:power cycle/failure 2) Last reboot reason Router rebooted after a normal shutdown. I’d say 2) but I’m not sure about that…. I really appreciate any feedback/comment/experience... Re: [j-nsp] Breaking an EX cluster?
http://forums.juniper.net/t5/Ethernet-Switching/Disable-Virtual-Chasis-on-EX4200/td-p/46663 Specifically: First delete all config under edit virtual-chassis, but to remove all evidence of vc on it you need to go into the shell: Start shell Delete all files under /config/vchassis rm *.* Remove or disable the vcp cable and reboot to purge. Cli request system reboot. Worked for me in the past. Applies to EX 4200, not sure if EX 4300 is same. Hope this helps. richg On Thu, Aug 13, 2015 at 7:29 PM, Giuliano (WZTECH) giuli...@wztech.com.br wrote: Have you tried to remove the vc-ports ? [j-nsp] Reboot: right or wrong ?
1) Last reboot reason 0x1:power cycle/failure [Answer] This could be due to unexpected power failure or power loss to RE. 2) Last reboot reason Router rebooted after a normal shutdown. [Answer] This reason is shown when a reboot is requested using a cli command. When command request system halt is executed, the RE is halted and reboot reason is recorded as normal shutdown as you see below: Mar 16 04:27:48 Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process `vnlru_mem' to stop...done Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process `vnlru' to stop...done Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process `bufdaemon' to stop...done Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process `syncer' to stop... Syncing disks, vnodes remaining...0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 done syncing disks... All buffers synced. Uptime: 18m37s recorded reboot as normal shutdown The operating system has halted. Please press any key to reboot. After this event, if you hit enter the RE is rebooted and reboot reason is shown as normal shutdown. ___ juniper-nsp mailing list juniper-nsp@puck.nether.net https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/juniper-nsp
Re: [j-nsp] Reboot: right or wrong ?
Hi In the second case if instead of hitting enter after the normal shutdown you power off and then power on, which is the reason you get?
