[plasmashell] [Bug 366227] New: System Settings under Display and Monitor does not scale viewport
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366227 Bug ID: 366227 Summary: System Settings under Display and Monitor does not scale viewport Product: plasmashell Version: 5.7.2 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Multi-screen support Assignee: aleix...@kde.org Reporter: mich...@butash.net CC: plasma-b...@kde.org When I access Display and Monitor from System Settings with 3x 48" 4k TV's, a generally small window, the monitor representation is far too huge for the viewport used to rearrange the displays. They need to scale with the dpi to represent a usable configuration. I'll attach an image of what I mean, it's just a UI bug for abnormal sized displays vs. dpi, but makes reordering the displays a gigantic pain, requiring me to open the settings window to like 3500x1200 to reorder things comfortably. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install multiple 4k tv (3x used in test bed) 2. Open "System Settings", navigating to "Display and Monitors" 3. Observe abnormally giant representation of monitors taking up 90% of the viewport, making it impossible to reorder displays without expanding the settings window to gigantic proportions. Actual Results: It requires resizing of the window to almost a full display width of 3500 pixels + to manage moving displays comfortably vs. the display scaling itself according to the viewport and dpi. Expected Results: Smaller representations of 3x monitors scaled into the viewport to reorder them comfortably within the given pixel space available. Monitors x Quantity Wide should always equal less than the viewport, scaled to the space available, or resize itself appropriately for the user to manage this. This is more dpi optimization needed with changing usages. I am using 3x 48" hdtv's as my monitors now, something of a corner case, but I'd imagine this exacerbated with current generation 4k displays in 24-34" desktop displays shipping @ 4k too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 359220] Widgets can't be moved or resized and right-side menu isn't shown regardless of widgets being locked or unlocked
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359220 Tony changed: What|Removed |Added CC||jodr...@live.com --- Comment #4 from Tony --- I need to add that some widgets do not fallow the new behavior fully. Eg, for the analog clock, calculator widget you do need to long press to be able to move it from where you initially placed it. In the other hand the color picker, cpu load monitor widget, you can move it around without long press, although to resize them you need to. If there is a bug it would be a per widget bug the way i see it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[systemsettings] [Bug 366225] New: Audio balance is not remembered between system restarts

[KScreen] [Bug 366067] Impartial kscreen config for setup leads to partially configured desktop on hitting 'Apply'
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366067 --- Comment #6 from jamese --- Here's some further debugging on this one. Config "ae115bc4aa5f4ce701f72fc9e25f01cb" is the MST setup with Laptop Screen + DP1-1 (master) and DP1-2 (slave) - I chmod'd this to 0400 so it couldn't be written by any user. It still has the width/height in it from the last working setup. Config "1818bd03d6fa05c34acde90101a5d242" is the Laptop with HDMI plugged in. I plugged in DP cable and the bug reproduces. I've got kcmshell5 kcm_kscreen running and will attach output although nothing appears in the output when I activate the DP setup. I unplug the DP cable and no change to the desktop occurs. Laptop screen is still split in half & external DP screens are not active at all. I then switch inputs on DP1-2 to HDMI and plug in the HDMI cable, this brings the desktop back with HDMI output enabled and visible along with Laptop Screen. But: * HDMI (HDMI2 in kscreen) says "No available resolutions" and the display is slightly fuzzy. It also appears to be at a lower bit depth * After some repositioning of the HDMI screen and hitting apply, the resolution slider appears with 1920x1080 enabled and the bit depth / fuzziness issues disappear. I then unplug the HDMI cable to see if I can get DP displays back and the Laptop screen goes black then comes back and freezes although the mouse cursor works. Can't do anything here. Plugging the DP cable in does not bring the desktop back, nothing in kcmshell output. Can't run kscreen-bug here as only mouse works. Plugging the HDMI cable back in re-activates the desktop! Other weirdness that occurs here: - is when I plug the HDMI cable in, all the windows either from Gtk (Shutter) or KDE apps (e.g kate) disappear under the panel when maximised, even though the panel has "Always Visible" set. This is a common problem for me at the moment with KDE multi-screen setup. - when I initally plug in the DP screens they come up greyed out, showing the wrong aspect ratio although the slider says 1920x1080. If I fiddle with the slider the greyed out screens resize correctly. Configs and outputs will be attached. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kwin] [Bug 365918] Severe flickering when interacting with some windows

Strange. Anyway, I'll go ahead and close this bug - whatever glitch I was experiencing, I wasn't able to reproduce it for long after I wrote the report, and it had stopped happening by the time I tried capturing it with OBS. I don't remember exactly, but I do remember that it wasn't happening with XRender, but I don't know why I was referring to GLX as "working" but "OpenGL" as not working. Maybe I meant EGL? https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356225 --- Comment #166 from Michael Butash --- @Simone Gaiarin, I deleted anything ^plasma in .config and .cache, that seemed mostly sufficient to reboot into neon after the ppa upgrade. I wanted to start it clean as possible here, seemed mostly to do that. I had to re-setup the displays, desktop stuff in general in settings again. Color themes persisted oddly, but that might be more symlinked elsewhere. My issues are same as @Frans Leerink desktop image and others, task bar won't follow what it is set to. I found the error in the arguments to mysql_install_db which missed a "--defaults-file" argument. However new error turned up after. The error/debug messages were not conclusive and the consistet more or less of one very long function riddled with return statements. So I refactored databaseserver.cpp. I am no c++ dev, so I did quite a bit of learning while writing the code. Therefore the result is certainly not perfect. But it runs without error, gives more information on errors and is in my opinion generally cleaner and more readable. I will attach patches, but the one for the cpp file is more or less useless, as almost everything is marked as change due to the restructuring. More detailed information can be derived from my github repository, i.e. the commit messages in the tree intdb_init-redone (https://github.com/imsodin/digiKam/commits/intdb_init-redone). Most of the changes happened in "Split startMYSQLDatabaseProcess into smaller functions". The branch is still compatible with master (at the time of writing), I will try to keep an up-to-date version with master in the branch "intdb_init-redone-current". Please test it and I hope you have time to look over the code as well. Any feedback is appreciated. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start digiKam from scratch (no digikamrc, no database, no configs) 2. choose internal mysql database Actual Results: fails to initialise database (see error in Details) Expected Results: Initialise new database (which works with the patch) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[valgrind] [Bug 366035] valgrind misses buffer overflow, segfaults in malloc in localtime
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366035 --- Comment #9 from Philippe Waroquiers --- > I hope it helps too! What do you want me to do now? Is there some > other tracing facility which I should run to help you identify the > problematic ioctl? Do you want me to make the example program more > minimal? Perhaps I could do the latter, otherwise I don't really have > much time - I just wanted to report this bug as a kind of housekeeping > task, so that upstream knows about the problem. We can maybe rename it > to something like "valgrind doesn't correctly track buffer overflows > from certain ALSA ioctls". Thank you, Yes, it would be nice to continue the investigation, as the ioctl hypothesis is not yet confirmed. So, the following would be useful: Discover which ioctl are done by snd_pcm_readi One way is to put a breakpoint on the line calling this function, and the next line. When the first breapoint is encountered, add a breakpoint on the ioctl syscall. Each time the ioctl breapoint triggers, write down the (symbolic) ioctl request (I guess the symbolic request will be seen in the source e.g. when doing GDB up) It is assumed that the ioctl done (or one of the ioctl done by this function) is using the buffer address as parameter. Would be nice to confirm that. The remaining mystery is : if really an ioctrl is 'badly' described in syswrap-linux.c, then that should create a lot of errors in memcheck (use of undefined memory). So, the ioctrl badly described hypothesis is still not (fully) understandable. The alternative to find which ioctl is done is to read the library source file. [frameworks-kio] [Bug 366216] New: Dropping into folder popup on KUrlNavigator changes folder
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366216 Bug ID: 366216 Summary: Dropping into folder popup on KUrlNavigator changes folder Product: frameworks-kio Version: 5.24.0 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: fa...@kde.org Reporter: goto...@gmx.net CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org It happens when dropping URLs on a folder in the popup opened by the ">" icons in the URL navigator. The navigator emits the "urlsDropped" signal (correct) but also changes the current URL to the dropped folder path (wrong). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Find some usage of the KUrlNavigator (except Dolphin), e.g. the "open" dialog in Kate 2. (Change the navigator mode from editable to navigate) 3. Drag some file with the mouse from the file view onto one of the ">" icons in the navigator -> a popup with a list of all subfolders will be shown. 4. Drop the file onto one of the folders Actual Results: The current folder changes to the drop folder. Expected Results: Current folder should not change. This has nothing to do whether dropping is implemented or if the QDropEvent is accepted or not. I tried connecting the signal and accepting the event it but the folder still changes. (Background: I'm working on Krusader. The GIT version uses KUrlNavigators now, I wanted to implement the URL dropping and found the bug this way.) This does not happen in Dolphin. I guess because it uses the old KDE4 libs and the old signal "urlsDropped(KUrl,QDropEvent*)". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kdeconnect] [Bug 366210] New: Source Compiling stops with error
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366210 Bug ID: 366210 Summary: Source Compiling stops with error Product: kdeconnect Version: unspecified Platform: unspecified OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: common Assignee: albertv...@gmail.com Reporter: sch...@gmx.de HI, unfortunately I am not very experienced in compiling kde applications. Cause 0.9g ist the last opensuse rpm I tried to compile the latest sources yesterday on my Opensuse Leap 42.1 (64 Bit Computer). It was a challenge to install all sources but finally the cmake process worked fine. Now the make process interrupts with this error message: In file included from /home/schugt/tmp/kdeconnect-kde-master/core/backends/devicelink.h:27:0, from /home/schugt/tmp/kdeconnect-kde-master/core/backends/lan/landevicelink.h:30, from /home/schugt/tmp/kdeconnect-kde-master/core/backends/lan/landevicelink.cpp:23: /home/schugt/tmp/kdeconnect-kde-master/core/networkpackage.h:52:14: warning: in passing argument 2 of ‘NetworkPackage::NetworkPackage(const QString&, const QVariantMap&)’ [enabled by default] explicit NetworkPackage(const QString& type, const QVariantMap &body = {}); ^ core/CMakeFiles/kdeconnectcore.dir/build.make:110: recipe for target 'core/CMakeFiles/kdeconnectcore.dir/backends/lan/landevicelink.cpp.o' failed make[2]: *** [core/CMakeFiles/kdeconnectcore.dir/backends/lan/landevicelink.cpp.o] Error 1 CMakeFiles/Makefile2:123: recipe for target 'core/CMakeFiles/kdeconnectcore.dir/all' failed make[1]: *** [core/CMakeFiles/kdeconnectcore.dir/all] Error 2 Makefile:138: recipe for target 'all' failed make: *** [all] Error 2 Any idea how to solve this? [kdenlive] [Bug 348029] timeline corruption
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348029 --- Comment #13 from Wegwerf --- Now this is serious! I also had one instance of timeline corruption when using the spacer tool with git master. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kdenlive] [Bug 366161] git master: title clip not editable, "edit clip" grayed out
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366161 --- Comment #4 from Wegwerf --- I have to admit that I would never expect "Clip Properties" to edit the title ... but then, you probably refer to the edit button inside the clip properties. Now that's a hassle when working with projects with several title clips. What about adding a "edit title clip", "edit color clip", and "edit image sequence clip" to the context menu? The strange thing is that sometimes Kdenlive interprets the double click as to edit the title instead of to show the clip properties. I think we need to get a more consistent UI experience here. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[KScreen] [Bug 345227] Desktop turns black and plasmoids disappear when docking notebook
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=345227 --- Comment #7 from Simone Gaiarin --- This problem appeared again in a different form. Sometimes after boot, the external monitor is black without plasmoids, without the right click menu, but the mouse cursor is visible. Moreover the panel that should be in this screen is in the laptop screen. Restarting plasma solves the problem. It seems that the external monitor is not detected by plasma and kscreen. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
