i do not know if is here the right place to request this kind of feature, but i
will try. I read that the kde team is bringing back the global menu, and i
thought that would be nice this feature supports java menus globally, like
macOS does, and ubuntu did once with jayatana plugin

[frameworks-kwallet] [Bug 372977] dialog's text incomplete

2016-12-02 Thread Nick Levinson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372977

Thank you. Just to note, even though I know you meant "resized" as automatic
and not manual by the user: Most users go through most steps without dwelling
too long on any one step, since they have other work to do. Therefore, users
should not be expected to resize windows in order to read them, especially when
the appearance seems to be of a misedited sentence, not a problem apparently
(to most users) subject to resizing (even though it really is). If the text
could get truncated, at least a scrollbar would be appropriate UI design for
ordinary non-geeks using KMail.

2016-12-02 Thread Nick Levinson

No, the first two sentences need editing. No objection to the edit you propose,
but it still leaves the first two sentences in conflict with each other. Would
deleting the second sentence from the original text mean that the remaining
text (with your edit) would accurately describe the facts and the options for
the user?

[kmail2] [Bug 372974] need to see dialog's bottom buttons

2016-12-02 Thread Nick Levinson
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372974

My screen is 768 pixels high. I don't remember another app having this effect.
Regardless, 768 is not very short, the fonts are not unusually large, and the
title bar hardly seems big enough to account for the buttons at the bottom
being entirely out of view so as to force users to guess. Not all users are
geeks. Even if we were using a cell phone's browser, the buttons or other
indicia of equivalent functionality should be visible to users.

2016-12-02 Thread Nick Levinson

Apparently I don't have KHelpCenter (it's not listed in the distro's Software
app or when I search the apps on the laptop). Therefore, shouldn't the window
say something about KHelpCenter, so users don't see a message that looks like a
dead end and thus wind up trying to work without access to Help, maybe
fruitlessly?

[plasmashell] [Bug 373204] New: Plasma displayed desktop icons when switching video displays and crashes

2016-12-02 Thread Shawn Starr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373204

Bug ID: 373204
Summary: Plasma displayed desktop icons when switching video
displays and crashes
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.8.4
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: shawn.st...@rogers.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com, plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Application: plasmashell (5.8.4)

Qt Version: 5.7.0
Frameworks Version: 5.27.0
Operating System: Linux 4.9.0-rc7+ x86_64
Distribution: "Fedora release 25 (Twenty Five)"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
Started KDE up

- Unusual behavior I noticed:

I wonder if kscreen gets confused when using the following options for kernel
booting
video=LVDS-1:d video=VGA-0:e

If you boot without them, then with them back on, kscreen/plasma gets confused
and displays incorrectly which can crash.

My setup typically is to close laptop lid and power the laptop display off to
redirect to VGA to bigger screen.

The crash can be reproduced sometimes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 373203] New: Notifications "broken" (blue box in upper left corner)

2016-12-02 Thread Luca Weiss
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373203

Bug ID: 373203
Summary: Notifications "broken" (blue box in upper left corner)
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.8.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: l...@z3ntu.xyz
CC: bhus...@gmail.com, plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Directly a video demonstrating the bug: https://youtu.be/KwH1MUSWmpg

I hope this isn't a duplicate because I didn't find anything that matched my
search terms (about what I wrote in the title). I also don't know what
product/component this bug should be assigned to.

Since Plasma 5.8 (nearly) every time I start plasma (from sddm) this bug
occurs. Only after restarting plasma with "kquitapp plasmashell && kstart
plasmashell" the bug is fixed. I also noticed this issue pre-5.8 times but it
would only occur very rarely.

If you need more information, feel free to contact me.

[kwin] [Bug 373202] New: Can't return from 'Show Desktop Grid' and 'Toggle Present Windows' actions.

2016-12-02 Thread Mikael
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373202

Bug ID: 373202
Summary: Can't return from 'Show Desktop Grid' and 'Toggle
Present Windows' actions.
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.8.4
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: effects-window-management
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@elsoder.se
  Target Milestone: ---

Sometimes when i trigger either one of the mentioned actions i am not able to
'untrigger' it. e.g. when i want to show the desktop grid my configured
keyboard shortcut works just fine and does just that. However, the same
shortcut doesn't always get me back to my desktop. Escape doesn't work either.
I then have to reach for the mouse to click one desktop to get out of the
desktop grid view. This leads to a huge interrupt in workflow. I do use custom
configured shortcuts.

[kaffeine] [Bug 368907] kaffeine sometimes uses 100% CPU

None of those affect the CPU usage. The bug still triggers after watching one
channel, either by clicking on stop, or by clicking on another channel.

Is there a way to debug the libvlc usage by kaffeine?

[kmail2] [Bug 373201] New: Message List Threading Intermittently Breaks

2016-12-02 Thread Garry Williams
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373201

Bug ID: 373201
Summary: Message List Threading Intermittently Breaks
   Product: kmail2
   Version: 5.3.0
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: message list
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: gtwilli...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Threading frequently fails with newer messages not placed under the original
thread.

Here's how I perceive this problem:

Right click on Subject header in Message list and select Aggregation ->
Configure

Select Standard Mailing List

Click Groups & Threading

Select Perfect or Perfect and by References

Click OK

Now Message List is threaded correctly.

Wait for new messages to arrive.

Threading is now broken (sometimes).

Repeat steps above to restore correct threading.

I see this problem at work using an Exchange server proxied through an IMAP
proxy (davmail) and at home using Gmail directly.

I'm closing this bug report now. The improvement in TeX typesetting will be
tracked in the task https://phabricator.kde.org/T4805 :

* allow the user to select between different latex engines (latex, pdftex,
tetex, luatex) to allow unicode fonts etc.
* disable latex typesetting and output in the worksheet if no latex
installation is available
* allow to input a complete latex document (with \begin{document}, etc.) in
"latex entries"

[kdenlive] [Bug 373199] New: Crash when using frei0r emboss effect

2016-12-02 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=373199

Bug ID: 373199
Summary: Crash when using frei0r emboss effect
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 16.08.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Effects & Transitions
  Assignee: vpi...@kde.org
  Reporter: yves.desga...@ugroupmedia.com
  Target Milestone: ---

On ubuntu 16.04, install from the stable ppa:kdenlive/kdenlive-stable. This
will give you Kdenlive 16.08.2 and melt 6.3.0.

Just use the frei0r emboss effect (created with a previous version or with the
fix below). If you click on the timeline where that effect is, Kdenlive will
crash.

The dump will show you that the frei0r emboss library cannot find symbols sin()
and cos().

Ideally, the library provided should be fixed.

If you execute the following steps in a shell, this will fix the broken
library.

# install frei0r as the one provided is broken

git clone https://github.com/dyne/frei0r
cd frei0r
./autogen.sh
./configure --prefix=/usr
make
sudo make install
cd ..
rm -rf frei0r

# create missing kdenlive file

  echo ""
  echo ""
  echo " Emboss"
  echo "Emboss the image"
  echo "RG"
  echo " "
  echo "amount of azimuth"
  echo " "
  echo " "
  echo "amount of elevation"
  echo " "
  echo " "
  echo "amount of width45"
  echo " "
  echo ""
} > frei0r_emboss.xml

sudo mv -f frei0r_emboss.xml /usr/share/kdenlive

Write database contents to image metadata.

Remove database and re-scan whole collection. Database will be restored from
image metadata.

Of course make a backup before.

[digikam] [Bug 320666] Add search of similar images outside digiKam collections

2016-12-02 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=320666

The possible way to query the database externaly was dropped definitively with
5.0 release : KIO support.

All digiKam KIO slaves have been replaced by a multi-threaded/core interface.
KIO is bably portable and make digiKam very difficult to stabilize.

There is no plan to restore KIO.

Another approach can be to export database content with a standardized protocol
as Upnp. An old KIPI tool exist by the core library which implement Upnp was
never port to Qt5.

My tip : delay all searches about this topic for the moment, until we found a
portable, stable, standardized solution.

A second reason to do the scale in the krita settings itself rather then with

Application: plasmashell (5.5.5)

Qt Version: 5.5.1
Operating System: Linux 4.4.0-47-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I have dockerswarm running on my dev-machine. It creates about 5 network
adapters for my environment. If I close docker then I can switch network no
problem. But with docker active then NetworkManager kills Plasma, or vice
versa.

- Custom settings of the application:
create a docker swarm with docker 1.12 or above. I have no running containers
and it still crashes.
KDE installed by default as I'm running Kubuntu.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

Windows Photo Gallery stores tags path in "Exif.Image.XPKeywords". This field
is with libexiv2 read only. I have checked it, write to "Exif.Image.XPKeywords"
is not possible with libexiv2. DigiKam can do nothing here and it will probably
not change.

gpgme 1.8 is no longer creating the libgpgme-pthread. If kmail still is
searching for this library, then this means that a number of packages needs a
rebuild against the newer gpgme version.

Is this still an issue with the dev-unstable build of Neon ? I guess that by
now packages have been rebuild and it should be ok.

Krita 3.1 RC splash under Windows 10

Tested with Krita 3.1 RC (3.0.94), under Windows 10 X64 version 1607. When
starting up Krita (for the first time), the spalsh displayed without window
elements (title bar and border). I could not click the close button, ESC did
not work either. I can click the main window to create a new file, but the
splash elements blocked the canvas so it was unusable. I must set Hide splash
in the settings to make it work again. Ubuntu Gnome doesn't have this problem.

Hey,

I think this is a quite nice feature though there is a workaround:
1) create a "staging"-album for those pictures
2) drag the pictures into the album
3) Trigger fuzzy search via context menu.

But as noted out, the shorter was may be more nice.

Thus, I made some research and some tests concerning this feature request. I
have a working solution but I am not satisfied. In DK, the fuzzy and
duplicates searches are based on the images as defined by the database
structure. It is possible to implement such feature without using the internal
data structure. But I assume this is no clean solution. I think the most clean
way would be to create a temporary image data structure from the provided URI.
I just did not find something appropriate in the API. Perhaps, this does not
even exist.
But even if I create temporary image data structures, they should not have the
normal image ids since I do not want to waste ids.

Some comments from the established devs concerning the technical details?

Cheers,
Mario

Bug ID: 373192
   Summary: Calling posix_spawn completely broken
   Product: valgrind
   Version: 3.12.0
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jsew...@acm.org
  Reporter: megahal...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Executing the program below with valgrind 3.12 built from sources on Fedora 25
gives the following output:

pid 21786 child 21787 r 0
pid 21787 child 83036382 r 0

Without valgrind:

pid 21805 child 21806 r 0

Valgrind completely breaks the posix_spawn call by causing some kind of fork
and also not executing the ls.

#include
#include
#include

int main()
{
  pid_t pid;
  char cmd[] = "ls";
  char* arg[] = { cmd, NULL };
  int r = posix_spawnp(, cmd, NULL, NULL, arg, NULL);
  fprintf(stderr, "pid %d child %d r %d\n", getpid(), pid, r);
}

The new icons looks great! And they avoided that potentially sensitive "+"
symbol, which is also nice. Thank you Animtim! :D

Just tried with 5.0.3 (still valid) and wanted to pose a question to the
KDevelop-developers:

Since this is a quite old bug report, initially for KDevelop 4.x, I wonder if
it's wanted by you to keep this problem in this report or open a new one with
an up-to-date version number? Not that it will be ignored when scanning through
the bug lists and deleted eventually since it's for the 4.x branch.

Yes Hugin is already installed in my computer. Works fine with Digikam 5.3

[krita] [Bug 373191] New: Drawing has either "no pressure sensitivity+freezing brushes" or the brush is offset from the pen depending on the info in the "Choose Screen Resolution dialog" on multiscree

2016-12-02 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 373191
Summary: Drawing has either "no pressure sensitivity+freezing
brushes" or the brush is offset from the pen depending
on the info in the "Choose Screen Resolution dialog"
on multiscreen (cintiq)
   Product: krita
   Version: 3.1 Beta
  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: OpenGL Canvas
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kirtai2...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I have a three monitor setup as follows:
1920x1200 (monitor) 1920x1080 (monitor) 2560x1440 (Cintiq 27QHD)

In the "Choose Screen Resolution" dialog, the wintab and Qt autodetected sizes
are 6400x1440, offset 0x0

If I accept this, the brush draws on an offset from the pen position.

If I change it to manual and input a size of 2560x1440, offset 0x0, the brush
now tracks the pen perfectly. *However*, pressure sensitivity stops working and
the brush freezes in place when I lift the pen while it's drawing.

I've seen these two bugs reported before but this seems to be a common cause
and I can trigger either at will just by changing the screen resolution
settings.

I have experimented with different screen resolution settings but they all
produce either offset drawing or no pressure sensitivity with freezing.

This only happens in kritas canvas. MyPaint, Clip Studio Paint, Drawpile and
others all work correctly.

I have marked this grave since it seems impossible to have both an accurate
brush with pressure sensitivity which doesn't freeze on lifting the pen.
