after I had to kill KDE once because it would hang while trying to log-out

[valgrind] [Bug 395682] Reading debug info

2018-06-30 Thread Дилян Палаузов
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395682

It turns out that when linking with ld.bfd 2.30 or gold 2.31.51.20180630) 1.16
valgrind can read the debug information, but not when ld.bfd 2.31.51.20180630
is used.

I described at https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=23357 the whole
case, and uploaded there the produced binaries. Please read it, I don't want
to repeat here the text from there in order keep the total text for the case
shorter. While I filled a PR for ld.bfd, I don't state whether the problem is
in ld.bfd or in valgrind.

[wacomtablet] [Bug 396012] New: Relative mode inaccurate pen/cursor travel distance

2018-06-30 Thread Daniel
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396012

Bug ID: 396012
Summary: Relative mode inaccurate pen/cursor travel distance
   Product: wacomtablet
   Version: 3.0.0
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jazzv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: mayazcherq...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I really have no idea how to word this, but here goes.

I am using a Wacom Intuos Art Medium tablet, along with two monitors. I like to
use relative mode, so the cursor doesn't jump all over the place across one or
two monitors.

However, when using relative mode, the "bounds" of the tablet still seem to be
derived from the screen(s). So the travel distance of the pen is still
significantly larger than what it should be to allow for the user to move from
one side of the tablet area to the other and in so doing will cause the cursor
to traverse across one or both screens.

What I would ideally want, is for one centimetre of travel on the tablet, to
also reflect one centimetre of travel on the screen, regardless of the size of
the screen. This would allow for significantly more accurate drawing, without
e.g. moving one centimetre along the horizontal causing the cursor to move
quite a significant fraction (due to there being dual monitors) whereas moving
along the vertical is much slower.

Sorry if that sounds confusing.

TL;DR: Moving the pen one centimetre in either the horizontal, vertical, or a
combination of both directions, moves the cursor on the screen by that same
amount.

[kxkb] [Bug 396013] New: Keyboard layout limit of 8 is too low

  Target Milestone: ---

Hello. Currently using Kubuntu Bionic with KDE Frameworks 5.44, Plasma 5.12 LTS
and KDE Applications 17.12.3.

Even since Kubuntu Trusty using KDE 4.13.x, the number of maximum keyboard
layouts in the KDE keyboard layout settings has been 8 and trying to add a new
layout after that produces the error: "Only up to 8 keyboard layouts are
supported".

Frankly I don't see the reason for this artificial limitation. I myself know
seven Indian scripts: Tamil, Devanagari, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Grantha
and Brahmi and do need to input all of them at one time or another. I also have
a separate layout for the emoji I use. Which leaves me no space for even
QWERTY, let alone my preferred alternate Latin layout Workman.

I do not see the need for an upper limit on the number of layouts. Is there any
technical reason why there needs to be such a limit?

mean with "bug to pick color from color selector".

[frameworks-kxmlgui] [Bug 395988] KMainWindow saves invalid window/widget state under Qt 5.11.1

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395988

The patch here https://phabricator.kde.org/D13808

Have tried reproducing this issue using just Qt and their recommendation of
saving window state in closeEvent(), and it works fine like that.
Change introduced in Qt 5.11.1 can make the child widgets hide() during
destruction, but it seems that they always hide after closeEvent() was called.

Patch just makes sure that window settings are not saved at any point after
closeEvent() was accepted.

I'm sorry, but we cannot do anything with this bug report. A bug is something
in Krita's code that we can fix.

This is something that is happening on your system, not something that everyone
experiences.

In order to start guessing what might be up, we'd need to at least know the
version of Krita you're using, what hardware you're using, what else is running
on your system, what size and channel depth your images are working with and
possibly other things as well.

Here are some hints you could start with:

Weird, it's completely instant on my system. I'm not sure what more we could

Please be more precise :
does it means that keys with printed accentuated letter (like é or ù) — direct
accents_—, or keys with printed accents (like ^ or ~) that you press before a
normal letter — composed accents — are not working or both ?

I can confirm that composed accents upper vowels don't work on Facebook (it
works with Firefox), while it work on consonants (like "~" + "n"). Direct
accents work too.

Typing accents with space shows briefly the accent after the sapcebar is
pressed.

[kde-cli-tools] [Bug 396018] New: Circular dependency after "Use platform detection from KWorkSpace in KCMShell" (896dd55)

2018-06-30 Thread Maximiliano Curia
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396018

Bug ID: 396018
Summary: Circular dependency after "Use platform detection from
KWorkSpace in KCMShell" (896dd55)
   Product: kde-cli-tools
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: aleix...@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@gnuservers.com.ar
  Target Milestone: ---

Hi,

Starting with "Use platform detection from KWorkSpace in KCMShell" (896dd55),
kde-cli-tools builds depends on libkworkspace (which is part of
plasma-workspace). On the other hand, plasma-workspace uses kde-cli-tools as a
runtime dependency.

This generates a circular dependency that when using strict version
dependencies makes the package impossible to build. These strict version
dependencies are necessary because components inside plasma tend to change
without indicating the versions that they need.

One possibility would be to copy the detectPlatform function into kde-cli-tools
(it's only 22 lines, no interaction with the rest of the library). This has
already been done in kded.

Another possibility would be to move the detectPlatform function to
libkf5plasma in plasma-frameworks, and update plasma-workspace, kded,
kde-cli-tools, systemsettings, and powerdevil to use that exported function.

Happy hacking,

On Falkon 3.0.0, any middle-click on an opened tab will close it, a
middle-click on an empty area will open a new tab, middle-clik on new tab
button will open new tab and paste the buffered text as url (with http prefix).

This is a bit confusing and lack consistency.

Additionaly, a double left-click on an empty area will open a new tab and
left-click on new tab buttons will open a new tab too. So the current
middle-click behaviour on empty area is redundant.

IMHO current middle-click options should be disabled first.
Tab re-opening is already allowed with shortcut and right-click menu,
middle-click re-opening should be optional.

[kate] [Bug 396019] New: Folding layer 1 not possible when layer 2 yet folded

2018-06-30 Thread Lukas Sommer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396019

Bug ID: 396019
Summary: Folding layer 1 not possible when layer 2 yet folded
   Product: kate
   Version: 17.12.0
  Platform: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: folding
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: sommer...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Steps to reproduce:

1.) Open the attached file “bug.mss” in Kate.
2.) Click on code folding at line 1: The lines 2, 3, 4 are hidden as expected.
The last line (line 5) with the closing “}” isn’t hidden.
3.) Click again on code folding at line 1: The lines 2, 3, 4 appear.
4.) Click on code folding at line 2: The lines 3, 4 are hidden. This time, the
line with the closing “}” (line 4) is hidden.
5.) Now, lines 1, 2, 5 are visible. Click on code folding at line 1: Nothing
happens.

Bugs:

A:
Current behaviour: The behaviour of step 2 and step 4 isn’t consistent: One
time, the line with the closing “}” is hidden, another time not.
Expected behaviour: The behaviour is consistent in both situations.

B:
Current behaviour: In step 5, nothing happens.
Expected behaviour: Code folding as usual.

Browsed the application menu. The crash happens, sometimes, when moving the
mouse cursor from a submenu to the main menu. Example: expand to "Development >

Qt 5.11.1, Wayland 1.15, intel modesetting Xorg 1.20, TV LG47LM660S . The
current status is, that any option in the pop-up crashes plasmashell. Altough
after session re-login the selected option is active. Also most of the times
after loging into Plasma wayland session, plasmashell isn't running (black
screen with cursor) but can be started from Konsole.

[ksmtp] [Bug 395279] Can no longer send email via smtp

2018-06-30 Thread Daniel Vrátil
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395279

Allen, Laurent, can you guys double-check that you have STARTTLS selected in
your outgoing account settings? Maybe even try to create a new transport that's
configured for STARTTLS?

It looks like KSMTP is trying to open an encrypted communication despite being
configured for STARTTLS (and then complains it does not understand the
unencrypted response coming from the server).

It seems to work for me here - I can't login anymore of course, but I actually
get "Password refused" error from the SMTP server, which means the encrypted
communication is established correctly.

[kio-extras] [Bug 40892] extended ACL support for 2.2.* enabled servers

2018-06-30 Thread Ferry
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40892

Unfortunately this is still not implemented in 17.12.3 (Kubuntu Bionic).

I'll try to make the case for this functionality: on a shared file server
(obviously sharing with Windows users), just giving the group read/write
permissions is not always enough (for instance to change the owner of a file).
The situation can be resolved using ACL's as that translates nicely to windows
permissions. As ACL's can be made to inherit (on file/dir creation) all new
files under a shared directory can have their correct ACL's set.

Of course if a sub directory is created without setting ACL's (by moving from
another place without ACL's) these wrong settings also inherit. So it would be
very nice to be able to correctly view and set them from within Dolphin.

Currently we work around this by mounting the server using smb4k so we don't
need to use the kio slave.

[kio-extras] [Bug 40892] extended ACL support for 2.2.* enabled servers

2018-06-30 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40892

Nobody objects to the feature; it's simply a matter of very limited development
time for implementing it competing with 32 other Samba bugs, and approximately
25,000 other bugs of all sorts. :)

Patches are greatly appreciated!

FWIW, for now mounting the share locally is probably your best bet in general,
since the KIOSlave has other issues (e.g. unavailable when using non-KDE
software such as LibreOffice).

[frameworks-kio] [Bug 339242] Incoherence's in KDE notifications

2018-06-30 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339242

The problem is that a YouTube video isn't a very good vehicle for reporting
bugs. It's hard to collate all the issues discussed into a list of actionable
work, and there's a lot of filler to sit through. Also, Bugzilla tickets need
to be focused, i.e. one issue per ticket. Otherwise, if one of the issues
reported therein gets fixed, you can't actually close the ticket--and if you
do, the other ones get lost.

So just saying, "hey, this video shows a guy complaining about some KDE thing,
you should fix it!" doesn't really help much, I'm afraid. See
https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting#Bug_reporting_involves_responsibility

If you're experiencing any specific issues with notifications in Plasma 5, we
would welcome new bug reports to individually track them.

Hey Allen, did you read diff (
https://cgit.kde.org/kholidays.git/commit/?id=49f6abb6035f97c0a98113e3aedf5d2db135bf63
) when you merge the attached files?
The code attached by Firas is based on quite old codebase (July 2016) and it
reverts my updates done in May 2017:

https://phabricator.kde.org/D5736
https://cgit.kde.org/kholidays.git/commit/?id=f6044686a1768565bcf3d91489f1b080d64c8666

It removes metadata, re-add non-existing holidays (The days listed in
"Cultural" section including St. Valentine's Day, Girls' Festival, and Buddha's
Birthday are not holidays in Japan), removes comments referring governmental
information about holidays.

I think your commit 49f6abb should be reverted.
I opened request to revert 49f6abb:

Since there is no NoScript-plugin, I propose a simple per-site JavaScript
configuration (similar to cookies). A toolbar button could temporarily override
the default.

Rationale: I prefer to surf with JavaScript off by default, and only want to
enable it for sites that need it, permanently and temporarily.

[frameworks-baloo] [Bug 387672] Baloo File Extraction Error

2018-06-30 Thread marty
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387672

Have had same issue for awhile. Found the following suggestion that solved
problem:

Baloo is currently disabled. To enable, please run "balooctl enable"

After running "balooctl enable" problem hasn't recurred (am up to fc28 now).

It doesn't seem like this provides enough information to debug. Was there a
stack trace?

Is this an entirely default install? If so, did you try filing this with
openSUSE Tumbleweed? If so, can you link to that discussion?

[frameworks-kxmlgui] [Bug 395988] KMainWindow saves invalid window/widget state under Qt 5.11.1

FTR, VirtualBox (a plain Qt application) has a similar problem since Qt 5.11.1:
the toolbar and statusbar disappear on next start if you close the window via
the close button. (http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1099589)

Reverting the mentioned Qt commit fixes it, but the patch proposed here does
not (of course, as it doesn't use KMainWindow').

So this is not really specific to KMailWindow...

Does this crash actually still happen?

To me it sounds the same as bug#394534 which has been fixed in Plasma 5.13.2.

If you want to install debug symbols, you need to enable the debug repo (in
YaST->Software Repositories) first btw.

Plasma 5.13.2 and this bug is still annoying people and there is still being
requested for a solution where, at least, users could chose the behavior:
- If the minimized window will actually be sent to bottom of the stack (current
plasma behavior); or
- If the last minimized window will be at the top of the stack (Microsoft
Windows behavior, Gnome, xfce). That way users can select "the last used
window" even if it was just minimized.

Another approach would be to offer another shortkey to change to the last used
window. Microsoft Windows also have this feature, where you can use gesture on
touchpad or touchscreen (slide from right border to inside) to do that. Android
N also offers that feature by double tapping the multitask phone button.

KDE Plasma System Settings already haves a robust Task Switcher configuration,
but it really misses that option where a minimized window is kept in top of the
stack, just like a regular window.

In Windows 10, Krita 4.1.0 downloaded on 6/29/2018, the Layer Styles options of
Pattern Overlay and Texture have a Scale slider. Unlike the slider for brush
textures, which works as expected and resizes the texture, when I try adding
texture/pattern overlay to a layer, the Layer Styles scale sliders do nothing.

kdesrc-build encountered an exceptional error condition:

Config Error: Unable to open file
/usr/local/bin/kf5-frameworks-build-include which was included from line 44

Can't continue, so stopping now.

I cannot reproduce the issue in a plain Docker image like `ubuntu:18.04` (see

willing to provide further diagnostics.

[krita] [Bug 396028] New: Imported Layer Styles Lose Properties

2018-06-30 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Bug ID: 396028
Summary: Imported Layer Styles Lose Properties

  Platform: MS Windows
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: layer styles
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: kaz.fox...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

This is on Windows 10, Krita 4.1.0 as downloaded 6/29/2018. Since I can't find
a way to copy and paste layer styles, I tried exporting them via Layer Styles
window and importing them for reuse, but when I apply the imported styles to a
layer, their properties (ex. highlight/shadow colors and settings, bevel sizes,
selected pattern) revert to generic settings. The same problem happens if I
open my Krita file again and select an embedded style, although the Drop Shadow
seems to have retained some settings.
