[kstars] [Bug 410094] New: Kstars sometimes fails to wait for a slew to happen before slew is regarded as complete on the mount tool.

2019-07-21 Thread James Lancaster
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410094

Bug ID: 410094
Summary: Kstars sometimes fails to wait for a slew to happen
before slew is regarded as complete on the mount tool.
   Product: kstars
   Version: git
  Platform: Compiled Sources
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: mutla...@ikarustech.com
  Reporter: deathstal...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In some cases when using the mount model tool, KStars/Ekos has immediately
decided the slew is over.

Ex:
[2019-07-19T01:17:54.891 CDT INFO ][ org.kde.kstars.ekos.align] - "Slewing
to target coordinates: RA (00h 00m 00s) DEC ( 55° 51' 27\")."
[2019-07-19T01:17:55.064 CDT INFO ][ org.kde.kstars.ekos.align] - "Slew
complete. Solving Alignment Point. . ."
[2019-07-19T01:17:55.065 CDT INFO ][ org.kde.kstars.ekos.align] -
"Settling..."

This comes from Align::processNumber in align.cpp, which seems to only check if
the Equatorial coordinates show as IPS_OK, even if the mount has had no chance
to update the status. (In this case I had it as 200ms, you'll note that the
Slew to Slew Complete is less than that, and I think the default polling is
something like 500ms from the lx200 derived drivers.) So it seems that there
should be a minimum delay before it fires off, and/or a state change to/from
tracking/slewing before it registers.

Do note this is also kstars running on one machine, and gigabit ethernet to a
mini pc (also running the same OS)

It's also possible that the driver isn't doing something right, but based on
what I can tell, the driver starts doing that immediately after a status update
finishes. (Which is a little talky, but I don't belive that's the issue here.)

Timeline which may be more clear:
2019-07-19T01:17:54.555 (Update, Mode: Tracking)
2019-07-19T01:17:54.870 (Command to sync sent to mount)
2019-07-19T01:17:54.891 (Ekos align module, says send to slew)
2019-07-19T01:17:54.951 (Update, Mode: Tracking as Command not yet sent)
2019-07-19T01:17:55.064 (Ekos regards slew as complete)
2019-07-19T01:17:55.096 (Command to Goto sent to mount)
2019-07-19T01:17:55.292 (Update, Mode: Slewing)
2019-07-19T01:17:55.365 (Ekos mount registers status change)
2019-07-19T01:17:55.660 (Update, Mode: Slewing)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Keep Aligning and it will sometimes happen. It is not a regular thing. My
assumption is that there is the condition of it getting to that case only
sometimes.

OBSERVED RESULT
Using the mount model, sometimes the Align module decides it's done with the
slew, even if the slew is far from complete.

EXPECTED RESULT
Wait for the slew, solve, sync, slew, until everything is done. As it does,
some times.

Git commit 258d9d122600b515d90087b6cca1c69c478818ea by Nikita Melnichenko, on
behalf of Davide Gianforte.
Committed on 22/07/2019 at 06:31.

Wrap text in copy/move confirmation dialog

When you want to copy/move a file with a very long name, the confirmation
dialog is opened very wide to respect the filename width.

Wrapping the text let the dialog to be drawn at the usual width.

[kwin] [Bug 410093] New: KWin crash after switch to/from text console

2019-07-21 Thread Stephan van den Akker

Bug ID: 410093
Summary: KWin crash after switch to/from text console
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.16.2
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: memelink.ak...@planet.nl
  Target Milestone: ---

Application: kwin_x11 (5.16.2)

Qt Version: 5.13.0
Frameworks Version: 5.59.0
Operating System: Linux 5.1.16-1-default x86_64
Distribution: "openSUSE Tumbleweed"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I switched to a text console (Ctrl-Shift-F1) and switched back to Plasma
(Ctrl-Shift-F7). I got a message that KWin crashed. I chose "restart" and the
UI (including the compositor) is working again.

This is occuring every 2 or 3 days, usually after a "cold start" of the system,
but is not ready reproducible (doesn't happen every time).

Thing is: finding them both does not guarantee remembering them. Especially
when the user found one and only at a later time the other and between both
findings there was a year or so :)

> Looking at the code, I am tempted to combine the two into one in a future
> release. Any objections?

Not from me. Reopening as a wish list bug with different title.

Maybe directly within the "View" menu for easy discoverability? On the other
hand the option may not be used all that much.

2019-07-21 Thread Thomas Baumgart
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410091

Bug ID: 410091
Summary: Open sqlite database under kmymoney versions >= 5.0
   Product: kmymoney
   Version: 5.0.5
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: database
  Assignee: kmymoney-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: tbaumg...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 121671
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=121671&action=edit
Empty database showing the problem

SUMMARY
An sqlite database created with a prior version of KMyMoney (e.g. 4.7.2) cannot
be opened with recent versions (>= 5.0)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open existing database created with older version of KMyMoney

OBSERVED RESULT
An error is displayed, that the database cannot be opened.

EXPECTED RESULT
Database opens without problems

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The problem has initially been reported on
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=161485

The database can be opened using e.g. sqlitebrowser and seems to be ok
(contains all tables and data items).

The details of the error message contain the following information:

Error in function bool MyMoneyStorageSqlPrivate::alterTable(const
MyMoneyDbTable&, int) : Error dropping index from kmmSplits
Driver = QSQLITE, Host = localhost, User = thb, Database = //home/thb/xxx.db
Driver Error:
Database Error No -1:
Text:
Error type 0
Executed:
Query error No 6: database table is locked Unable to fetch row
Error type 1

It is unsure if this also applies to MySQL databases.

The default for "View all accounts" is off:

   Show all accounts
   false

So is "Hide closed accounts":

   Hide closed accounts
   false

The user must have found both and played with it if any of them is set :)

Looking at the code, I am tempted to combine the two into one in a future
release. Any objections?

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=177889

The /proc/bus/input/devices file list these entries which might help to
uniquely identify devices:
1. Name
2. Phys
3. Sysfs
4. Uniq
Sometimes the Phys and Uniq look like they are using MAC, other times not or
not used at all. Phys always has something.

However, for my systems, I always see at least two keyboards (when I really
only have one): one named by manufacturer AND a second "AT Translated Set 2
keyboard". What is KDE actually using as the keyboard device? Is the "AT
Translated Set 2 keyboard" the default?

No movement since 2013.

This seems to be a simple addition to the "KDE Keyboard Control Module". For
that matter, "Mouse", "KDE Joystick Control Module", and "Touchpad KCM" as
well. Odd that they have wildly different documented names in their help.

I propose a dropdown or tab listing the related objects in each module as
presented in /dev/input/ directory (or /proc/bus/input/devices file)...or
however KDE is getting and coordinating the device names and types.

The biggest problem is restoring devices of same type. They may not be
guaranteed to have the same prior event #, so order may not be preserved. Some
solutions:
1. Bluetooth devices can have unique names.
2. Serial numbers? I don't know if every device has or can report a serial
number.

Other non-KDE applications I use seem to work fine (e.g. Firefox, Gnu Cash,

Not sure this is the case for Linux users as this issue is only for these two
specific layer types.
I'm running Ubuntu 18.0.4 and I can run the v4.2.1 app image and everything
works as normal. It's any app image version after that the issue has become a
problem. For pretty much all the other pop up windows in Krita they are fine,
it's these two layer types that have changed since v4.2.1.

Please attach a screenrecording of krita running. Use your cellphone if you
feel the krita running device is not up to the task, and can you cna show your
tablet movement alongside the cursor movement. However if the computer you are
using is so slow that it can't record the screen it may not be able to run
krita properly.

Your system must be one of the following: Windows (7,8,10), Linux (distros),
macOS (High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina). if Linux tell us the desktop environment
you are using. Also write here your system specs

Created attachment 121670
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=121670&action=edit
gdb log of session leading to assert.

I can consistently recreate the assert following the steps given

Kubuntu: 18.04 bionic
krita 4.2.3

After the assert is trown, ignore will recover control of mouse but every event
action will trigger the assert again. It is not possible to paint at all after
this (events are locked).

I attach the gdb log of the run that led to the assert (not a lot of info but
it may be useful).

The bug cannot be replicated in macOS

Hi!

Im sorry but this is not a bug in krita but a behaviour on your window manager.
Try to see if you can disable dark overlay for popup windows system wise.

Im using xfce and macOs and none of them have that problem, o Kde by default
the parent modal dialogs darken the background. To disable:

- KDE Settings > Desktop Effects > Dialog Parent: disable
- Apply

On KDE by default it is possible to move the window, so to move a modal window
you will need to move something else in your system preferences. What desktop
environment are you using?

Disabling this might be a little different on other desktop environments.

I cant make a screenshot or anything because this is a different device than
the one that krita is set up on and that device is old and slow so im not sure
if it even has an email set up to it

I dont know what operating system it is. When i move my pen to draw a line the
brushes move slower than my pen and when i go back and forth on a line to make
it look better the bryshes hardly move at all. When i try to draw a circle or
something like that the brushes wont follow my bamboo pen and wont make a
circle itll just make a slight curve

There are a couple of things you can try:

Check tablet driver is correctly installed, and configured properly for krita:
check the quick solutions page for this
https://docs.krita.org/en/contributors_manual/user_support.html#quick-solutions

Another thing to try is to reset krita configuration (this is not deleted or
modified between installs):
https://docs.krita.org/en/KritaFAQ.html#resetting-krita-configuration

aside from that could you give us more ino on your tablet model/driver?

You can control the debug level via the qt logging system. In this case the
identifier to use is a (badly unnamespaced) "ktexteditorpreviewplugin".

export QT_LOGGING_RULES="ktexteditorpreviewplugin.debug=true"
should set the respective env var to change the level for that logging
category.

I believe we recently discussed this, but I don't remember if it was another
bug filed, or just on the mailing list. I've made a note to be sure the manual
is sufficiently clear about it - in both places that describe the two relevant
settings. I may also add it to the FAQ. You are correct that it is not really
intuitive how those two settings combine, and even more confusing if you have
only discovered one of them so far.

On X11, KWin currently takes care of maximizing windows that were maximized
when they were closed (IIRC it compares the window size to the screen size and
maximizes the window if they're equal). It should have the same behavior on
Wayland.

[kate] [Bug 410087] Kate preview plugin doesn't render Markdown with kmarkdownwebview plugin installed

2019-07-21 Thread Friedrich W. H. Kossebau
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410087

Potentially in newer versions this could also be influenced by the Mode
currently used (cmp.
https://cgit.kde.org/kate.git/tree/addons/preview/previewwidget.cpp#n169 )

So test if changing the Tools>Mode to Markup > Markdown fixes things.

Otherwise no idea, no longer a maintainer of that plugin (surprised to have
been subscribed).

Your Plasma and version is rather old for Tumbleweed. We're on 5.16.3 now. As
Kitsuna implies, it sounds like there's a problem with your repos. Can you

I just tested and I'm unable to get the Okular plugin to work either. However,
this is not the initial blank document that hasn't been saved (bug 384971) and
I'm not attempting to change the MIME type of an existing document to Markdown
(bug 384972). The workarounds for bug 384973 don't work for me either.

[plasmashell] [Bug 410088] New: [SDDM theme] When blur and controls disappear after 35 seconds, pressing certain keys wont give focus to the password field

2019-07-21 Thread Neousr
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410088

Bug ID: 410088
Summary: [SDDM theme] When blur and controls disappear after 35
seconds, pressing certain keys wont give focus to the
password field
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.16.3
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Theme - Breeze
  Assignee: visual-des...@kde.org
  Reporter: neo...@protonmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Pressing some keys will remove the focus on the password field once 35-40
seconds have passed after a login out of a session or booting the system.

System:

Neon UE 5.16.3

KDE Framework 5.60.0

QT Version 5.12.3

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Power on the device/logout of a existing session (wait until the password
field fades)
2. Press the Escape key or other keys like control, space bar. Keys that aren't
actually letters or numbers.

Actual Results:

Pressing Esc for example will show the password field but it will be grayed out
and there will be no blinking cursor in which to write the password. Until the
tab key or the mouse is used to select the password field.

Expected Results:

Pressing Escape will let you see the password field and pressing it again will
hide again. Any other key should give focus to the password field not
move/remove the blinking cursor.

[kate] [Bug 410087] New: Kate preview plugin doesn't render Markdown with kmarkdownwebview plugin installed

2019-07-21 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410087

Bug ID: 410087
Summary: Kate preview plugin doesn't render Markdown with
kmarkdownwebview plugin installed
   Product: kate
   Version: 19.04.2
  Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: plugin-preview
  Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: jman012...@gmail.com
CC: kosse...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I'm unable to view a preview of any Markdown document using kmarkdownwebview.
I've ensured that kmarkdownwebview is installed correctly and is functioning
(thumbnails are generated in Dolphin when kmarkdownwebview is built with
-DUSE_QTWEBKIT=TRUE). I was able to get a preview of one document immediately
after building kmarkdownwebview, but after closing Kate and reopening it, I'm
unable to get a preview. This problem persists if I remove and reinstall
kmarkdownwebview.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Clone kmarkdownwebview repository: git clone
https://github.com/KDE/kmarkdownwebview.git
2. Enter the new directory: cd kmarkdownwebview
3. Get the latest stable version: git checkout tags/v0.5.5
4. Configure kmarkdownwebview: cmake -DKDE_INSTALL_USE_QT_SYS_PATHS=TRUE
-DUSE_QTWEBKIT=TRUE .
5. Build: make
6. Install: sudo make install
7. Set kmarkdownwebview as embedded Markdown viewer: Plasma settings >
Applications > File Associations > text/markdown > Embedding > move Markdown
Web View (kmarkdownwebviewpart) to the top
8. Open an existing Markdown file in Kate with preview plugin enabled

OBSERVED RESULT
Preview panel stays blank except for a "No preview available" message

EXPECTED RESULT
Preview panel renders a web view version of the current Markdown document.
