libkomparediff2 patch to set file permisions on copy

This is a patch that sets the file permissions on file_copy to be the same as
the original file. This may not be the correct way of doing this. I can't find
any documentation on what the permissions = -1 argument to KIO::file_copy is
actually supposed to do. This setting "may" have been meant to keep the files
permissions unchanged but it seem to set them to 0600. Maybe someone who knows
how KIO is supposed to work can answer this ?

Can confirm this is still happening, on the latest stable build of Neon
(20191226-1116). Although, all I had to do to fix it was install
`pavucontrol-qt`, and all of my system sounds started working, like the noise
when you increase or decrease the volume and notifications.

searching for a filename, triple or quadruple results when searching for

Before I finally stop to bother you, would you please clarify to me one more
thing?

The checkbox on [Ocular - Configure - General options] (as it is seen on my
screenshot) says "Show hints and info messages". This checkbox is unchecked and
yet I see some messages.

You said me that items which I do not want to see are not hints. But you didn't
answer to the question - what are they. How they should be called?

If they are "info messages" - my bug report still holds.

If not - I give up.

I'm not sure what changed but right now the latest 4.2.8 is fine for me. both
krita plus as well as a regular download version (I downloaded both today).

I had some problems with the previous version so I deleted some krita files in
locals and let krita create them anew but then I replaced them with the old
ones which I backed so I don't thing that would change anything.

Is the new version fixed or did something magically change on my end?

   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.17.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk

Application: plasmashell (5.17.4)

Qt Version: 5.14.0
Frameworks Version: 5.65.0
Operating System: Linux 5.5.0-rc3-1-mainline x86_64
Distribution: "Arch Linux"

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed
Nothing really, only launching new session with "dbus-run-session
startplasma-wayland"

- Unusual behavior I noticed:
Blank screen, no wallpaper or icons, no context menu, KRunner didn't work

- Custom settings of the application:
Fresh install of Arch Linux, I haven't customized it yet - besides for using
linux-mainline kernel (from miffe repository) and mesa-git. I'm using Radeon
5700XT. I made sure that the locale settings were all set correctly and
consistently (as I've read similiar bug reports and that was the issue there -
unfortunately not in this case)

[korganizer] [Bug 415659] New: Deleting a single instance in KOrganizer from a recurring event doesn't get synchronized to the server

2019-12-28 Thread David de Cos
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=415659

Bug ID: 415659
Summary: Deleting a single instance in KOrganizer from a
recurring event doesn't get synchronized to the server
   Product: korganizer
   Version: 5.13.0
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: recurrence
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: david.de...@ehu.eus
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Deleting a single instance in KOrganizer from a recurring event doesn't get
synchronized to the server. This happens, as far as I know, at least both with
Google and CalDav calendars.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a recurring event (either in KOrganizer or an external client). Check
that it's been properly synchronized and appears in all clients involved.

2. Delete a single instance in KOrganizer. The event disappears from
KOrganizer, but not from the server. It will still show in any other client you
are using.

3. Modify ANOTHER single instance of the recurring event (for example, it's
starting time), this time from an external client.

4. The previously deleted event reappears in KOrganizer.

(In reply to mullein from comment #4)

I'm just as frustrated as you are by the problems KOrganizer has with event
recurrences. I, too, use several clients (both with Google Calendar and
Nextcloud calendar), and they all manage recurrence exceptions flawlessly,
except Korganizer.

However, my experience differs slightly from yours: if I move a single event
out of a series in an external client, it gets correctly moved in KOrganizer.
It's actually one of the few things that work in KOrganizer regarding
recurrence (if not the only one).

If a configuration option isn't planned, here are some suggestions:

With the filename extensions now visible, I suggest to hide the Type column to
get more room for the Name column. Maybe it could automatically decide where to
elide based on the visibility of the Type column.

Also, to show the extension, middle-elision isn't ideal. It could elide at the
point where the extension starts.

Not yet, I'd need guidance on what would be the desired behaviour for
uninitialized padding in the middle of a struct (which is harmless but might
leak data if it is blindly copied around).

Is there a flag for hiding these warnings, or a separate reporting level?

I can reproduce this bug in:

Linux/KDE Plasma: Neon 5.17
KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.65.0
Qt Version: 5.13.2

It happens, I think, regardless of the calendar type. I see it both in Google
and CalDav calendars.

I really wish the recurrence problems could be fixed in Korganizer (this is
just one of several). I missed a couple of appointments before realizing it
wasn't reliable when recurrence was involved.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404286

--- Comment #58 from Kamil Piwowarski <9luty1...@gmail.com> ---
One of the goal of KDE is consistency.
https://dot.kde.org/2019/09/07/kde-decides-three-new-challenges-wayland-consistency-and-apps

In latest months there were done a lot of work to improve that and I am very
happy with that. For example GTK3 apps looks and behavior better. I love using
Plasma and the rest of Apps.

Unfortunately there is still one thing that made me irritated, broke my
workflow and ruin hard earned consistency. When I am using any Java/GKT3/Qt
(non-KDE)/Electron/Wine/Android app next to KDE app I am very confused, because
of this #BROKEN# translation.

Please fix that bug. Firstly - because almost no one are using „Zaniechaj” as
„Cancel” and almost no one know what does it mean in computer systems. Secondly
- it is against one of the KDE goal which is consistency.

Thanks

You can move to and from the embedded terminal with the "Move Focus Down" and
"Move Focus Up" commands (default shortcuts: CTRL+SHIFT+DOWN and
CTRL+SHIFT+UP). Those command let you also to navigate the sidebar in the

to move also into the location bar to edit it.

Before upgrading the documentation, I would try to make this situation better.

SUMMARY
The screen I'm currently using is a 1280x1024 Sony SDM-HS73 (from 15+ years
ago). I tried a lot of time to set the screen resolution to 1280x1024 on KDE
neon, but it's still stuck at 1024x768.

So I tried those commands :
cvt 1280 1024 60
sudo xrandr --newmode "1280x1024_60.00" 109.00 1280 1368 1496 1712 1024 1027
1034 1063 -hsync +vsync
sudo xrandr --addmode VGA-0 1280x1024_60.00
sudo xrandr -s 1280x1024 -r 60

The third command (sudo xrandr --addmode VGA-0 1280x1024_60.00) isn't working :
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 140 (RANDR)
Minor opcode of failed request: 18 (RRAddOutputMode)
Serial number of failed request: 29
Current serial number in output stream: 30

The graphic card on the computer is an ZOTAC GTS 250 that support up to OpenGL
3.3 and 1920x1080. At least it's working on X but I also want to test it on
Wayland, any tutorial for that?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Nothing you can reproduce by yourself if you don't have a 1280 by 1024 screen.

OBSERVED RESULT
Screen size 1280 by 1024 isn't working, stuck on 1024 by 768.

EXPECTED RESULT
Being able to set the screen size to 1280 by 1024.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

I can't reproduce this bug, as it is presented. I use a NextCloud calendar and
sync it in KOrganizer as CalDav. If I create a single event and then remove it
in KOrganizer, it gets deleted in the server (and all the other clients) too.

I only have something similar to your reported problem when it is a recurring
event, and one of the ocurrences has been modified. Then, if I delete all of
them in Korganizer, all of them do disappear in Korganizer, but the modified
ocurrence persists in the server. However, I assume this is due to the problems
Korganizer has with recurrences, not specifically with events deletion.

I am quoting the forum post by ChameleonScales,

"""
Hi,
I've been using krita and file layers for years (although I may be considered
an occasional user) and only now did I discover that you can transform them by
using transform masks.
I know it should be assumed that we read the docs and watch tutorials (and the
feature is not that hidden anyway) but the thing is, once I see a message with
a padlock saying "Layer type cannot use the transform tool", I just assume the
feature hasn't been implemented so I don't even look further.

If instead the message said: "Use a transform mask for that", it would prevent
what happened to me from happening to other users or at least save them some
research time.

Hi,

Sorry for missing this. The best way to get around this is to uninstall
libringqt and let the cmake submodule installer fetch it. In the end the
problem you have is a bug, but I havn't been working on this for some months
while busy with other projects. Ring-KDE/Banji worked fine the last time, but
upstream has moved quite a lot, so I don't know how it stands right now. Most
of the remaining bugs preventing 4.0 from being released were in my
KQuickItemViews optimizer/compiler for QML, I plan to work on that next year.
Right now I am focusing on AwesomeWM 4.4.

Reverting is not an option for now. We can reconsider if enough people complain

To echo Tom .. unfortunately, we just don't have the resources to
support 80 bit floating point properly, compared to other problems
that need fixing. And to be honest, code that relies on it is pretty
non-standard -- and rare, and unportable. Your least-worst option
is to find a way to make your world work just using standard IEEE754
64-bit double precision. Sorry.

I took the liberty to push a different fix. I tried to use floats and while it
stopped crashing, it still wouldn't get a thumbnail out of the attached file. I
then looked at the rest of the code and I gave up. Not easy at all to refactor
it with floats.

Git commit af3f38a4d8f6ab66a463dd13e78385f34f4af933 by Elvis Angelaccio.
Committed on 28/12/2019 at 18:58.
Pushed by elvisangelaccio into branch 'release/19.12'.

Prevent division by zero and force ghostscript run

The `scale` variable can be zero since it's an int. This code should
probably be refactored to use floats, but since no one touched it in
years, this is a quick workaround to not make it crash and to get a
working thumbnail by forcing a ghostscript run with the `break;`.

[i18n] [Bug 404286] Absurd "cancel" polish translation

2019-12-28 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404286

(In reply to Albert Astals Cid from comment #54)

> > 2) Polish (MacOS)

Currently MacOS uses Cancel = Anuluj translation. This translation has been
used by Apple for the last 15 years. Even Mac users do not have an option to
use "Poniechaj" translation currently, as all Polish-language software has
standardized on Anuluj. And "NSLW" uses this only as an excuse, since his
translation is different from that used by Apple (Apple: Poniechaj, NSLW:
Zaniechaj). He's innovative that way.

Every piece of software localized in Polish or written originally in Polish
uses Cancel = Anuluj. Games use it (including ones from Polish studios),
government software and web services use it, desktop software uses it, mobile
software uses it. Only KDE stands out, due to one obstinate translator.

(In reply to NSLW from comment #52)

> Are you aware that I translate for KDE mostly alone for over 8 years?
> I don't do it just since couple of months. Are you saying that during all
> that time I constantly were damaging translations?

I am well aware, and that makes the bug you intentionally created even worse.
For 7 years you've left "Cancel" = "Anuluj" alone, and then out of a sudden you
mistranslated it as "Zaniechaj". Nothing's changed, you weren't the original
translator of KDE, you should've left it as you've found it, and as everyone
was familiar with.

The years you've spent with the project mean that you should have known better
and should have made appropriate consultations before making such UX-breaking
change for no good reason and out of a sudden.

This is not an accidental bug, but an intentional action of "NSLW". He will
clearly not fix it. What does it take for KDE Project to take this matter
seriously? A petition? Letter writing campaign? Finding a translator, who will
pledge to do translations once NSLW is prevented from breaking them?
