the issue in A VM as well:

[dolphin] [Bug 423036] New: Specifying relative path during copy-paste in same folder results in glitchy FS state

2020-06-15 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423036

Bug ID: 423036
Summary: Specifying relative path during copy-paste in same
folder results in glitchy FS state
   Product: dolphin
   Version: 18.08.0
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: korev81...@qkerbl.com
CC: kfm-de...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Copying and pasting an item within the same folder prompts the user to specify
a different name. Trying to specify a relative path by prepending ../ to the
name puts the resultant files into a glitchy limbo state where they cannot be
seen by most filesystem utilities. I don't know what else to call this. I was
able to see the files by running "find" in the directory from which I initiated
the copy.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Try to copy and paste an item such that the source and destination
directories are the same.
2. A dialog box opens asking you to specify a new name. Prepend the name with
../

OBSERVED RESULT
The files are copied but are in a glitched state and cannot be accessed by most
filesystem utilities.

EXPECTED RESULT
The files are copied to the parent directory.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Debian GNU/Linux 10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
Qt Version: 5.11.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This was done in my ext4 /home partition.
When running find in the directory where the copy-paste operation occurred, the
files appear as ./../New-Name-Here

[Falkon] [Bug 415664] Streaming Video from sites with DRM doesn't work.

2020-06-15 Thread TW3
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=415664

TW3 changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||white.tw...@gmail.com

Hi please read https://blog.qt.io/blog/2016/06/03/netflix-qt-webengine-5-7/ as
far as DRM protected video content is concerned when using QtWebEngine based
browsers such as Falkon.

Falkon is licensed under the gnu gpl v3 and as such I would imagine is unlikely
to ever officially support DRM encrypted content. The main reason for this is
that the DRM software provided by Chrome is proprietary software which may
damage your machine. This is because it does not have the wide scrutiny
afforded by developing the software in the open, such as free and open source
software. Google don't just license widevine to anyone and there is no free
software alternative (and there likely never will be due to the fact it goes
against the very founding principles of the fsf.)

Beyond getting DRM to work in Falkon, if you are looking to watch Hulu.com or
disneyplus.com then you will need to ensure that the copy of Qt that you have
built Falkon against has proprietary codecs enabled. This is due to the very
high likelihood the two services you mention are using h.264 or h.265 instead
of webm. Pre-built binaries from Qt do not have this support enabled by
default. You are expected to contact Qt for licensing or compile yourself if
you already have licenses.

To top all of this, GPU accelerated video playback isn't supported by Falkon.
This is a current limitation of QtWebEngine. The CPU is used instead.
To this end, on Windows - New Edge (Chromium based) is currently the best
option for GPU accelerated video on Windows. It has DRM support, the
proprietary codec licenses are already part of the Windows 10 OS and most
importantly it has very good GPU acceleration.

I can see that you have reported this bug against Windows CE. Windows CE isn't
supported by Microsoft, so why would it be supported by a third party free
software developer in 2020? Did you mean Windows 10 instead?

[digikam] [Bug 423033] New: Search for File Size Greater Than 95MB doesn't work and increments must be 0.5MB

2020-06-15 Thread Geoff King
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423033

Bug ID: 423033
Summary: Search for File Size Greater Than 95MB doesn't work
and increments must be 0.5MB
   Product: digikam
   Version: 7.0.0
  Platform: macOS Disk Images
OS: macOS
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Searches-Advanced
  Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: gski...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In using Advanced Search, no results are returned if the second box for File
Size is greater than 95.0MB. For example 95.5MB doesn't return any images.

Also possibly related. It appears that values must be in exact increments of
0.5MB to be accepted. If I manually type in a value then that may also not
return any images, where some should be returned.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select File Size from (e.g. 41.5MB) to (e.g. 95.5MB)
2. Click Try
3. No results are observed.
However, If I set the second box to 95.0MB, then I get 187 results (mostly psd,
tif and mov)
OBSERVED RESULT
No files were observed however, I know there several.

Second Example:
1. Select File Size from (e.g. 0.1MB) to (e.g. 0.3MB) by manually typing in
values in the boxes.

OBSERVED RESULTS
No files were returned but there should be many thousands.

2020-06-15 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392103

As I understand it, the only remaining objection to doing this by default is
that HDMI devices would be automatically switched to (whether or not they can
play audio), which would be very annoying. The changelog for PulseAudio 14
indicates that HDMI are now excluded from switch-on-connect behavior:
https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Notes/14.0/
(https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/merge_requests/225).

With that done, perhaps we will be able to enable this behavior by default.

The problem is still occurs event after I minimize Krita window to the left

this to check if the problem is related to the position of my pen above the
tablet. Apparently this is not the case.

Bug ID: 423032
Summary: Pen right click produce double click on layer docker
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.2.9
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Dockers
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org

SUMMARY
Erratic click is produced when right clicking a layer inside layer docker using
pen from Veikk S640 tablet. This is making layer option menu open then suddenly
close or even randomly performing an option from layer option menu. I believe
this is Krita problem because right clicking using same pen on canvas is
working fine and on-canvas brush editor is correctly open without erratic
behavior.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right click on a layer inside layer docker

OBSERVED RESULT
Erratic click operation

EXPECTED RESULT
Layer option menu is open

On X11 though it shows centered at the top of the screen.

Before closing the bug as downstream, we should have a plan as to what they
should be using. (maybe it should be SNI or a notification? it feels odd to
have a floating thing too).

SUMMARY

Since a recent update (5.2, I presume) the 'Left' column shows the difference
of the total size of the torrent and the amount already downloaded. Earlier, it
showed the amount left to download, counting only the files selected to
download. I'm not sure if this is intentional, but the old behavior seems more
reasonable, especially as the 'Size' column still shows the total size of the
selected files only.

[okular] [Bug 402017] Cannot save PDF when loaded file has been deleted

2020-06-15 Thread Sven Brauch
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402017

Regarding other applications: most applications (e.g. kate) are not affected by
this issue, since they just load the whole file into memory, and save it from
their in-memory buffer if requested. Gwenview also seems to do this, even
though it closes the file when deleted, it can still save an e.g. rotated
image, apparently from memory (it has no open file handle).

Okular is quite special here with its "stream from disk" behaviour, from a
quick look around I didn't find another commonly used application doing this.

2020-06-15 Thread Sven Brauch
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402017

I was repeatedly bitten by this issue in the past as well and I don't quite get
it. Can Okular not simply keep an open file handle for the document, which
results in ext4 not removing the data from the disk, even if the original file
is removed (i.e. like file handles always work on Linux)?

As a fact, that is already the case (as I think Albert considered a few
comments above), as you can see in lsof. Okular can also still load the data
for not-yet-rendered pages, so the data is clearly there and okular can access
it. If it is not possible to re-use that file handle from the save logic, maybe
just create another one?

Since 1 and 2 are wrong (what about the other users of the okular part?)

The only solution is 3, or rather 4) Fix the bug in kxmlgui, don't expect
others to fix it for you ;)

But not being able to reproduce it, it's really a problem here.

Also, does the "No text" appear immediately when editing the toolbars or needs
an okular restart to be seen?

Since 1 and 2 are wrong (what about the other users of the okular part?)

The only solution is 3, or rather 4) Fix the bug in kxmlgui, don't expect
others to fix it for you ;)

But not being able to reproduce it, it's really a problem here.

The "principle" here is one of the factors, and not one of bigger ones.

This behaviour (i.e. remove the temporary files when closing tabs or exiting)
affects _any_ application launched by Firefox: okular, kwrite/kate, gwenview,
you name it. Adding the same workarounds in any application potentially
launched by Firefox and used by users means adding more complexity to those
applications (like proven by the discussion in this bug, and my attempt 12
years ago, bug 163363), and even more so when each application usually handles
file reading in its own way, making even harder to "share" a potential
workaround.

Also, what if you try to talk with Mozilla people about this, for example?

Git commit d78cbb79c98e01fc524ec91fb099ec8ff98cc1fa by Albert Astals Cid.

Fix/Workaround file where we can't enter values in some fields

The problem was that the JS checker for the field format was using the
willCommit property of event and we don't define it so the JS
interpreter was going "ok nope, out of here" and the field didn't get edited.

I've read the willCommit definition in js_api_reference.pdf for almost
30 minutes, and even it's just 3 lines i don't think i understand it,
but i think that returning true is "safer", i.e. says that this event is
going to actually change the field, which as far as i can see it's what
we always do

That's a shame. Thanks for the history.

If Firefox isn't interested in playing ball, then our only realistic option is
work around it in Okular. This isn't ideal, but seems preferable to letting
user data be destroyed for the sake of a principle (making the fix in the right
place).

[kdenlive] [Bug 423028] New: Failed to create proxy clips when running out of memory

2020-06-15 Thread Iyán Méndez Veiga
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=423028

Bug ID: 423028
Summary: Failed to create proxy clips when running out of
memory
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 20.04.2
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: m...@iyanmv.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Sometimes, when many videos are imported at the same time, or a new folder is
set to be proxied, proxy clips failed to be create because of running out of
memory.

I am using x264-nvenc encoding profile for the proxy clips.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Choose x264-nvenc as encoding profile in Settings -> Proxy clips -> Encoding
profile
2. Put a few videos in a folder and then right click -> Proxy folder

OBSERVED RESULT

Two or three proxy clips start to be generated. Next one failed with the error:
"[h264_nvenc @ 0x563c15416d80] OpenEncodeSessionEx failed: out of memory (10)"

When first clips are done, it doesn't try to generate the ones that failed.

EXPECTED RESULT

It would be nice if Kdenlive could know when not to start a new proxy clip
because of low memory (or handle the out of memory error better, and try again
when other clips are finished). Or if this is not possible, at least an option
to limit the amount of simultaneous proxy clips. That also would work nice.

On a USB live key with Fedora 32 KDE respin, the problem doesn't occur.

There has been a long time (> 5 years) I didn't do a fresh install on this PC.
the two other ones are updates form a fresh install of Fedora 30. I think I
upgraded from fedora 3, then 4, then plasma...

I erased yesterday .config and .gconf, and did a reconfiguration, but It didn't
solve the issue.

Maybe I will do a fresh install, but I have to be careful...

commit fb6f7abcbc92506d302fb18a2c5fc853d2929248
Author: Carl Love
Date: Tue Jun 9 10:42:03 2020 -0500

Power PC Fix extraction of the L field for sync instruction

The L field is currently a two bit[22:21] field in ISA 3.0. The size of the
L field has changed over time.

Currently the ISA 3.0 Valgrind sync instruction support code sets the
flag_L for the instruction L field to a five bit value that includes bits
that are marked reserved the sync instruction. This patch fixes the issue
for ISA 3.0
to only setting flag_L the specified two bits.

In the same way XDG desktop environment do it: by handling the XDG base
directory and XDG desktop files specifications to detect which applications can
handle a certain content type and/or a certain remote protocol.

See also https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=415441#c12 -- maybe there
is a better non-closed bug asking this, and if not it would be good to open it.
However, in general Mozilla does not care that much about integrating properly
Firefox/etc in Unix desktops, as their main share of users is on Windows...
