[digikam] [Bug 431003] Running status of digikam not reflected in MacOS task bar

2021-01-05 Thread Hackintosh HD
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431003

I've just tested
https://files.kde.org/digikam/digiKam-7.2.0-rc-20210105T085952-MacOS-x86-64.pkg.
Unfortunately, there's no improvement for digiKam's macOS dock icon, it's still
heavily pixelated after changing from the initial icon version obviously taken
from the .icns resource file to the one generated from the SVG file.

This time, however, it is visible that digiKam's icon was regenerated, because
the resulting macOS dock icon has now a small rendering artefact in the top
left corner. I assume that was created when the icon was rendered from the SVG
file). I'll attach a screenshot to better illustrate the current state of
things.

I honestly don't know what else we could try to achieve a proper macOS dock
icon display for digiKam. I doesn't seem to be the picture resources, so it's
maybe the way the different icon sizes are rendered from the SVG file when
digiKam is compiled? Is there maybe an application that uses a similar way to
include icon resources that we could use for a comparision?

For more than 15 years, the FreeDesktop specification for thumbnails has
included a section about the so-called Shared Thumbnail repositories[1] - a
method to store the thumbnails alongside the original files, specially useful
for shared network-based directories.

Recently I found that no single file manager in linux implements support for
such piece of the specification. In the case of Gnome, I at least found this
open merge request[2], although it seems to be stalled. But I found nothing for
Plasma. :-(

What's i'm sure; the way to encode SVG icon has a real influence to the macOS
taskbar icon rendering. So, perhaps something going wrong while trying to
regerate the SVG icon with 1024x1024 size property.

Look how SVG icon are generated with breeze theme, used with all KDE
applications (and digiKam under macOS):

https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/breeze-icons/-/tree/master/icons/apps/64

Here the max icon size is 64x64. In Breeze where we can found a light blue
version of digiKam icons, size is 48x48:

https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/breeze-icons/-/tree/master/icons/apps/48

What i don't understand: SVG is a vector graphic image, not a raster as PNG.
Why we need to specify a size property ? After all, the client application can
generate the right size without to lost image quality...

2021-01-05 Thread Florian Weimer
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431157

I think this does not work because the calling convention for “sc” and “scv 0”
are different.

The glibc test case misc/test-errno-linux is a good way to exercise syscall
errors. Here's how you can run it under an valgrind binary which is found via
$PATH. Use bash -x to see the valgrind invocation if you have to tweak the
invocation. The --direct option tells the test harness to skip the outer fork.

git clone --depth 1 git://sourceware.org/git/glibc.git git
mkdir build
cd build
# Build glibc. The --prefix=/usr is important.
../git/configure --prefix=/usr
make -j`nproc` -O
# Build the test and run it without valgrind.
make t=misc/test-errno-linux test
# Run the built test under valgrind.
bash testrun.sh --tool=valgrind misc/test-errno-linux --direct

[krusader] [Bug 431173] New: Entering directory containing NFS share tries to connect six times before time out

2021-01-05 Thread Radek Machulka
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431173

Bug ID: 431173
Summary: Entering directory containing NFS share tries to
connect six times before time out
   Product: krusader
   Version: 2.7.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: krusader-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: radek.machu...@gmail.com
CC: krusader-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY:
When entering directory containing NFS share (that is not accessible at the
moment) automounted with systemd, Krusader tries to 'access' that share six
times instead of just once leading to six time longer dead time (due to six
timeouts). When entering the same directory with shell or Dolphin, for
instance, it tries just once (as excepted).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create NFS share in /etc/fstab (but make sure it can not be accessed) like:
nfs_server:/remote/path/nfs /path/to/mountpoint/nfs nfs

rw,user,noauto,async,noatime,_netdev,x-systemd.automount,x-systemd.mount-timeout=10s,retry=1,x-systemd.idle-timeout=10min,x-systemd.requires=network-online.target
  0 0
2. Monitor the process either with dmesg or journalctl
3. Run the krusader and try to open directory containing the nfs share
mountpoint ('/path/to/mountpoint' in this case)

OBSERVED RESULT
(in this case the mountpoint is /home/rad/_mount/odroid_nfs)

[okteta] [Bug 336607] cursor is blinking (flashing) at insane rate

2021-01-05 Thread Arek Guzinski
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=336607

And a happy new year to you!

I'm glad my work got this rolling :)

As far as the insertion mode is concerned... I comletely forgot about it, but
on a second look, I see what you mean. From my point of view, "difficult to
distinguish in a rarely used mode" is a major improvement from "practicaly
unusable".

I gave the insertion mode problem some consideration, and can think of 2
possible solutions (although none of them feels perfect).
One would be to draw a 2 pixel in fg-color, 2 pixel bg-color alternating line
around the block (I'll attach a mockup).
The other might be to highlight the line in the active subview (like the active
line in kate).

I also noticed 2 related minor problems:

* the insertion cursor overlaps with the value a bit too much - I think it
would be better to draw it a pixel more to the left (see second mockup for
comparison).. maybe even 2 pixels.

* Directly after switching between insert and overwrite mode, the cursor is not
drawn at all until you move it. I believe this is because drawing the cursor is
so tightly coupled to the blinking timer. I haven't found them yet, but can
imagine that there are other cases where this happens.

For some context on the revert, it also affected bshah on mobile.

At some point I'll try and write a simple test without Qt with windows at
different depths, so we can raise a driver bug.

Hi Nate,
I have not configured something special. Scale is set to 100% at 4K resolution.
The font settings are shown in the screenshot I've added.

I could see why this happens if there was Dinner & Discord, but I don't
understand why when the first letters remain the same.

and re: the second point; no. I tend to hit `D` then `i` quickly together
(using both hands), and the list loads, then I hit s with my left hand and hit
enter with my right, slightly afterwards. So I constantly am searching "Dis"

[kwin] [Bug 431178] New: Quick tiled windows can't be maximized

2021-01-05 Thread SoilpH96
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431178

Bug ID: 431178
Summary: Quick tiled windows can't be maximized
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.20.4
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: filippo27...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

Quick tiled Wayland windows can't be maximized, either by the window decoration
button or by a keyboard shortcut. However, XWayland windows work as expected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Quick tile a Wayland native window.
2. Attempt to maximize it

OBSERVED RESULT

The window cannot be maximized. Attempting to do so appears to remove the
window border, although it will be restored by retrying a second time.
Detatching the window from the screen edge however will allow it to be
maximized as normal.

EXPECTED RESULT

The window should be maximized normally, as observed when trying to reproduce
the issue on an XWayland window.

Do you have your VPN set to be automatically activated with a certain

I can reproduce your findings running kdiff3 from master. Seems that the
problem only appears on binary comparisons but also for identical text files
which are showed with black squares and default operation to Merge. No problem
with subfolders during my testing but I have seen this top level files without
file names in some cases when doing local comparisons, probably not related to
remote protocols

Amortization plan

I am not sure how you end up with those monthly payments. I tried to duplicate
them using a spreadsheet using the PMT-function (attached) and get the same
results as in KMyMoney, just like you do.

The details of the math behind the calculation performed in KMyMoney can be
found on e.g. https://www.hughcalc.org/formula.html.

How did you calculate your values?

I think changing the date via UI is still not possible. Since you have tweaked
it using an editor in the past, gunzip the file and do it again as a
workaround. Instructions can be found in the manual

[kdenlive] [Bug 431181] New: Batch script generates overly long black_track producer

2021-01-05 Thread Thomas Nilefalk
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431181

Bug ID: 431181
Summary: Batch script generates overly long black_track
producer
   Product: kdenlive
   Version: 20.12.0
  Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Video Display & Export
  Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org
  Reporter: tho...@junovagen.se
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 134574
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=134574&action=edit
MLT-file with too long black_track producer (23 min i.s.o. 1:50)

SUMMARY

If you generate a batch script and run it you will get a long sequence of only
black image after the actual video.

This seems to be caused by the black_track producer having the wrong length.
See a description of the problem in this YouTube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0oeZAUjlbw

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a new project and add a short clip
2. Generate a script file
3. Start the script

OBSERVED RESULT
The generated video is 10-20 minutes longer than the clip with only black at
the end.

EXPECTED RESULT
A video containing the clip without extra black.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 10
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:
Melt Version: 6.25.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Seems that earlier versions did not generate any end times for the black_track,
but the last few versions does.

I've seen https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=415146, which to me seems to
describe the problem, but was closed.

Ok, if you had a defective HDD, it explains the defective images. Our JPG and
PNG loader can load defective images, your images are probably already
defective at the beginning.

Yes, some of the defective XCF files can still be loaded with Gimp, all
programs that are based on the so-called KImageFormat plugin cannot. However,
digiKam does not crash with these images under Linux or Windows. Nevertheless,
I suspect that the crash with you is related to a defective image.

Perhaps they can narrow down the image that leads to crash.

Maik
