SUMMARY

The more experienced KDE users probably understand, what the tooltip 'Keep
above' is meant for. Still, even for seasoned users, this sounds a little bit
too generalized. The tooltip, that appears when you hover over the title bar
button, that keeps windows over the others, is sparse, and can lead to
additional confusion, since it can be read in activated state, and then
suggests doing the opposite of what it truly does. 

Let`s improve this. 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a "keep above" title button to the title bar. 
2. Hover over the button. 
3. Activate it, and hover again over the button, assuming you are a user, who
is just figuring out, what this button does.

Okay.  I've got some good information for you.

1. I was able to finally totally disable CSC. I had to make some registry
changes:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CSC

*Start* DWORD
*4* = Disable

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CscService

*Start* DWORD
*4* = Disable

Unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem. It did stop all of the
failed attempts to query the CSC folder.  But the behavior in digiKam
persisted.

2.  I think this will help!  I recorded a video of the import process of a
single file into a small folder.  I also had Process Monitor and DebugView
running.

When digiKam is idle, there are periodic calls to some networking related
registry keys. Pretty constant actually, but not really the problem.
Then, when I import an image, it appears in DebugView that it starts a task
to scan the folder it was imported to, however, as you can see in Process
Monitor... it starts a scan of the entire collection!  It takes quite a
while before it finally gets to the folder that has the import, and then it
clears that task.  The entire time it is scanning the collection, there are
no updates in DebugView, so that's why it looks like it is hung... but
digiKam is doing something.

Hello! 

This problem only occurs with Win7Mixer. The real problem is that I can't set
any sinks as default output, even with the default controller.
This problem doesn't generates a crash report using the default, only
Win7Mixer.

After you recommended uninstalling Win7Mixer I notice that a new version was
available, then I removed the current installed and re-installed the latest
one. 

So far it seems to be working fine, the option for default sink doesn't require
the left-click > default path, as now there's a radio button that can change
the defaults with little hassle, and now seems to be working fine. 

I don't know if the old version was the problem because this issue occurs
sporadically.

I will provide here more information and will find original flatpak
maintainer-releaser (on gitlab) after some probes with Falkon after the profile
back-up.
(Probes) Falkon-Flatpak is now installed as system-package and it is more
vulnerable to the changes on host system, so first I'll try reinstall it as
--user. Second probe is to modify permissions in terminal / or with Flatseal
program to overcome certificates problem.

My last comment about packaging isn't right: there is the only one place there
last Flatpak package placed: download.kde.org.

Thanks for your report! I don't think this is something we are going to change
(or we can change because it's the way how mlt works). The shared folder is not
the only place were lumas can be saved (they can be save everywhere) and

would mean the luma is in the same folder than the project file.

If you want to use a kdenlive project on a different setup you should use
Project > Archive Project

I'll just quote from a post I made elsewhere a week or so ago.  Though it's
been going on for months.   The freeze when saving  ---  from every browser  
---  is what concerns me most, though having to kill dolphin instances every
few hours is tedious in the extreme.

Thanks for your report! Unfortunately this very hard to reproduce or to fix,
because the title editor uses native file dialogs (depending on your OS,
desktop,…) and this is probably not a issue in kdenlive's code… So I am closing
this for now.

Thanks Malik,

I seem to:

breeze-icon-theme is already the newest version (4:5.68.0-0ubuntu1).

Also, it seems the database rebuild was successful - though I can't test quite
yet until I get far enough along rebuilding the database that I can find a face
I actually remember and haven't yet tagged.  

It is early to reach a conclusion but it seems "QPixmap::scaled: Pixmap is a
null pixmap" is a different issue.  It isn't at all clear that the error has
anything to do with creating "visual workflow" icons for face tags (still
haven't seen those).

I have a very similar problem with slight differences.

For starter I have a dual screen configuration with a layout like that:

I have assigned a letter to all sides that I could think of. It's ASCII
drawing, so, any other "side" would make no sense on my actual setup.

L, R : border hidden
l, r : border shown
T, t : border shown
B, b : border hidden

Additionally I have a panel on the right side display, at the bottom. That is
right above 'b'. Windows will snap on the upper side of the panel, with their
border shown.
I have not tried other panel positions.

Folder selector has small and non resizable left sidebar

Wouldn't it best to have folder selector similar in layout to file selector
with toolbar (zoom, refresh, view modes) and path on top and same options at
top right and resizable left sidebar. Also the behavior of folder selection is
not intuitive at all, because the expand/collapse navigation is more fastidious
and confusing than double click/back navigation found in file selector
especially if we browse folders with big number of subfolders.

Still there in 5.21.3.
Unfortunately I can't take screenshots, the menu goes away when I try to take
it. And screen recording doesn't work.

Just to be clear, this is about the Application Menu, not the default
Application Launcher.

3. Press tab to navigate a few time (nothing happens)
4. Go back the featured page

OBSERVED RESULT

You will see that the Install/Remove button highlighted changed (because of the
previous tab press)

EXPECTED RESULT

The tab ignores the elements inside page that are not visible.

SUMMARY

Kirigami.ActionToolbar dropdown element for nested actions doesn't get a focus
indicator when tabbing. This can be seen on Discover. When tabbing to the
"Sources" button, the button won't get the blue indicator but has focus as can
be seen by either pressing space or tabbing one more time to go to the install
button. 

The button get the focus indicator when hovering on it.

Also, when creating a new document, the system cursor doesn't change into the
canvas cursor until a stroke is made... Not sure if that's the same issue here,
but that's not how it is in stable Krita.

I can reproduce this, and it was also mentioned by Lynx in the IRC. Although
the preview outline appears on startup, making a stroke is enough to make it
disappear. Selecting a new tool like the rectangle tool will bring it back, but
switching back to the old tool will not bring it back, along with breaking it
for the rectangle tool for the rest of the session.

1) Create an empty folder named "Vault" on your desktop
2) Click on Vault widget then click on "Create New Vault"
3) Type a random name as Vault name then click on Next
4) Click on Next then type twice you password, then click on Next
5) Change "Encrypted data location" value : for example delete the last
character, a warning will appears indicating that the path doesn't exist
6) Browse to the folder created on Desktop and select it, you will have
"Encrypted data location" set to "~/Desktop/Vault"

==> Expected result :
The warning should disappear and Next button will be enabled

==> Observed result :
The warning doesn't disappear and Next button becomes disabled forever, no
matter what you type in "Encrypted data location".

NB : Selecting a custom folder for "Encrypted data location" works only if you
select it the first time without changing previously its default value or
selecting a non existent path.

1. open a cd/dvd iso or make a session to write various files
2. try to burn it to bd-re with 2x speed
3. writing is very slow 0.2x speed
4. after a short time the writing will be terminated with an error


OBSERVED RESULT
The burning will be terminated with an error
The error ocures on different 64bit platforms, eg Debian 10, Mx-Linux 19.3,
Ubuntu Mate 20.04.2 and so on

Following error in XFBurn: Failed: CDB= WRITE(12) : aa 00 00 03 e4 00 00 00 00
20 80 00  : dxfer_len= 65536

Chromium uses auto-generated .png files whereas most other other GTK CSD apps
use auto-generated SVGs. I think this blurriness is due to the auto-generation
in kde-gtk-config scaling the titlebar button icons to too small a size as in
bug 426074.

So this isn't really a bug, just a feature request.

AFAIK it works like this right now: 

Launcher 1 on Screen 1 and Launcher 2 on Screen 2.
One of them has been assigned Alt+F1 as their activation shortcut.

Now KWin calls activateLauncherMenu in PlasmaShell, which looks for an
application launcher with the shortcut Alt+F1 and activates that one.



I am suggesting, that it works without Alt+F1 being present. It should activate
the launcher closest to the mouse, preferably on the same screen. That way I
always get the launcher somewhere practical.

SUMMARY
[X11/Wayland]Drag and dropping files from dolphin/plasmashell doesn't work in
the steam client.
Regression from previous version of KDE 5.20.X.
On 5.20.X it was broken only for wayland.
Now it is broken both for x11 and possibly wayland(haven't checked).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.Launch steam.
2.Drag and drop a file.
3.A prompt doesn't show up.
4.Launch wayland gnome, do the same with nautilus, drag and drop works.
5.Only application I seen affected is steam.
6.Could be a steam update.

OBSERVED RESULT
Steam doesn't detect a file to send into chat.

EXPECTED RESULT
Steam detects a file to send into chat.

I have the same problem. I use one digikam instance on a MacOS machine and a
second digikam instance on a Windows machine, both accessing the same MySQL
database. Each time I switch to the other system, I get that warning about
differing locales.

Fortunately, I was able to change one line in the code to force it to always
use UTF-8 for the DB and built my own Windows-version of digikam. This is, of
course, not the correct approach, but at least I got rid of that warning. And
it is working for me because I use latin characters only anyways, no special
characters like german Umlauts, in file/folder names. So there are no problems
to be expected (for me).

This issue should really be addressed. IMHO, it is not an uncommon case to
access a digikam database from different platforms.

This is already possible, and is the default on OpenSUSE. Configure->View
Style->Icon View. I think this is a better default than KDE's as showing the
sidebar is just showing too much information at once and can be overwhelming,
especially more likely so for new users.

I also confirm the bug on my machines, sometimes it happens even without
changing the background, but simply by right clicking on the desktop. It
happens on both the Xorg and Wayland session.

SUMMARY
I believe rendering storyboards is enabled by default for all documents, which
isn't necessary.

Related: bug 435273 (which is how I discovered it was working even though I
wasn't working on an animation).

EXPECTED RESULT
Storyboard should not start doing anything unless explicity asked to (which
also means that it should be "locked" by default, and it doesn't seem to be,
even though no new storyboard items appear; probably because of lack of
animated layers. But even in case of animation layers it should be locked by
default).
Even for animation, most animations are just animations, not storyboards. 
And cloning the image all the time for static images is even less necessary.

NOTE:
Fixing this particular part of the code to not clone the image unnecessarily is
easy, however I believe this is just a symptom of the storyboarding system
working without being asked to (reacting to signals and whatnot) which can be
detrimental to the performance, so I think it needs to properly checked.

So to sum up:
- storyboards should be locked by default
- and when locked, nothing should react to signals, nothing should be doing any
work
