[systemsettings] [Bug 436151] New: Energy saving in powerdevil has confusing and broken user interface for suspend-then-hibernate

2021-04-24 Thread Marian Klein
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436151

Bug ID: 436151
Summary: Energy saving in powerdevil has confusing and broken
user interface for suspend-then-hibernate
   Product: systemsettings
   Version: 5.21.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcm_powerdevil
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mkleins...@gmail.com
CC: k...@privat.broulik.de
  Target Milestone: ---

Power devil user interface is confusing. I am using
Kubuntu 21.04
systemctl / systemd underlying system (backend)
Go to Energy saving/On battery.

0) Hybrid sleep is never working.

1) The checkbox "While asleep, hibernate after a period of inactivity." with
indentation under Suspend session makes sense only when sleep is selected in
the list for Suspend session. It is ignored for other choices. Consider adding
a new item to the list "sleep+hibernate" instead.

2) This checkbox in 1) also affects functionality under "Button events
handling"
again when "sleep" is selected in the list.
It is not clear from UI it should. Consider repeating checkbox under "Button
events handling" or adding a new item to the list "Sleep+hibernate"

3) it is not clear after how long period of inactivity hibernate should follow.
  Either display read-only (non-editable) value from `cat
/etc/systemd/sleep.conf | grep HibernateDelaySec` with some information/help
to point user to the configuration file.

or add input field to specify the time and update the config file.

JPEG MPF extension is stored in a dedicated JPEG APP2 section:

DigiKam 7.3.0 is also able to preview and edit MPO image. With Exiv2 0.27.4,

In digiKam 7.3.0, we have a new ExiFtool metadata viewer on the right side bar.

https://imgur.com/D9Kvnqn

ExifTool has a "Composite" section which is exactly dedicated to show computed
values from camera settings.

https://exiftool.org/TagNames/Composite.html

In ExifTool settings, user can customize Composite entries, as i can see. This
is exactly what we need to solve this entry.

See attached image. This is a Breeze window decoration on Wayland on Plasma

1px with 250% display scaling.

I'm not sure if this is related to the window decoration or kwin, but it does

@Konrad Materka Thank you. Discovered that I did not have the libaooindicator
packages installed on the laptops I upgraded to Plasma Wayland on Fedora 33.
Installed them, renenabled xembedsniproxy, rebooted into a KDE Wayland session
and all has been resolved. The Skype hotspot in the upper left corner no
longer blocks the application launcher resident there and also the Skype status
icon appears in the System Tray. Much appreciate your help. I am marking this
as solved.

It seems to happen with all KDE Applications. Such as the Toolbar in konsole,
where the menu pops up below the window.

I can't reproduce it with GTK Applications or other QT Applications such as
qBittorent and VLC.

I can't reproduce it on the Desktop or Panel.

[kio-extras] [Bug 436146] New: Does not create thumbnails of specific files or folders

2021-04-24 Thread Henry
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436146

Bug ID: 436146
Summary: Does not create thumbnails of specific files or
folders
   Product: kio-extras
   Version: 20.12.3
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Thumbnails and previews
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: henry.izuri...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Thumbnails are very useful, however there are cases in which it is not
convenient to have thumbnails of certain files or folders. They can be, for
example, secret files or folders or that their owner simply does not want there
to be thumbnails of them.
To solve this situation I propose to KDE to include an option in folders and
files that tells the thumbnail creator not to do its work with that file or
folder. Maybe an exclude files and exclude folders in config file.

Hello,
I tested again on 7.3.0 Build date: 4/23/21 9:12 PM

1) with "Use native file dialogs from system" un-checked it works fine.
2) with "Use native file dialogs from system" checked it silently fails and
does not export the file. It never prompts for the Jpeg file quality or chroma
settings.

This is same as before.
Thanks, Geoff

RKWard is a playground project so isn't included in the apps.kde.org page. Same
for Atelier. For KTuberling, I have no idea why it is missing, I will need to
investigate :(

For the missing icons, the bigger problem is that the icon extraction isn't
good right now and I need to copy each icon not included in breeze to the
apps.kde.org git repository.

For the Windows links, this is because only the one listed are actively
maintained and available in the Windows Store. Binary factory creates the
binaries but they need to be tested and the exe need to be released too.

I just fixed the partionmanager bug and it should be visible the next time the
apps.kde.org website is generated (once a day) but that should be the
responsibility of the app developers to make sure the link are all working.

[wacomtablet] [Bug 436145] New: Faulty margins in Wacom Tablet widget

2021-04-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436145

Bug ID: 436145
Summary: Faulty margins in Wacom Tablet widget
   Product: wacomtablet
   Version: 3.2.0
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jazzv...@gmail.com
  Reporter: robloka...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
In the widget for Wacom Tablets, when a tablet isn't plugged in, the text
saying that it's not connected is too close to the warning icon. The icon is
also too close to the edge of the widget

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add the widget to your desktop or panel
2. The text saying a tablet is not connected is too close to the warning icon
(view attachment)

OBSERVED RESULT
The text is too close to icons. Also, I noticed that the interface is strange.
I'll file another bug for that later.

EXPECTED RESULT
The interface should be normal without faulty margins.

[kwin] [Bug 435989] Plasma Wayland crashes in QtWaylandClient::QWaylandWindow::handleScreensChanged() when using combined (direct) HDMI and DisplayLink outputs

2021-04-24 Thread Zamundaaa
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435989

Sorry, I should've specified the drminfo command more closely, it only outputs
for GPU 0 by default. Something like this would be most useful (DisplayLink
AFAIK creates a bunch of virtual GPUs):
> drminfo -a -r -c 0 && drminfo -a -r -c 1 && drminfo -a -r -c 2 && drminfo -a
> -r -c 3 && drminfo -a -r -c 4 && drminfo -a -r -c 5

>From what you already attached I would expect the outputs connected to the
Intel GPU to work though, except for X apparently using software cursors the
exact same display routing is used.

> Moreover, once I configure the displays in X11, I am able to log out and log
> back into the Wayland session and the displays stay configured.
The output of drminfo when that happens could be useful as well.

> For some reason I can't get ~/.local/share/sddm/wayland-session.log to
> appear. Is there something special I need to do? I did log in with sddm.
Normally not. Instead of logging in through sddm though you could also start
plasma from a tty to obtain the log:

> QT_LOGGING_RULES="kwin_*.debug=true;kwin_libinput.debug=false"
> dbus-run-session startplasma-wayland &> wayland-session.log

Perhaps, all products need to be verified, perhaps automated verification that
needs to check automatically and report broken links on that page, instead of
someone randomly came to page and found out link is broken, this is very basic
thing and it would damage reputation of kde website.

There are two protocols for tray icons:
* obsole XEmbed - some desktop dropped support for it entirely. KDE has some
xembedsniproxy to translate XEmbed to SNI, but it is far from perfect (because
it can't be)
* current StatusNotifierItem - Skype definitelly supports this, as it uses
Electron which uses Gtk3 which uses libappindicator (if avaliable). Gtk
fallbacks to old xembed if libappindicator is missing.

Do you have libappindicator package installed?

For what it's worth, I have now seen this

It happens in certain situations; running the test code "wasn't sufficient" to
trigger the assertion.

For me, it did not seem necessary to force a race condition, that is to create
the folder tree quickly. Once baloo_file had crashed and was restarted, a
single "mkdir" was enough to cause it to crash again. Didn't need to recreate
the same folder with a mkdir, creating a different folder also caused a crash.

It seemed deterministic enough that a 'balooctl purge' and rebuild gets you to
back to a situation where you could trigger the assertion again with a "mkdir"

It was however not reproduceable to the extent that you could cause a crash (by
following the same sequence of commands) in a different user/home directory.

Not sure how much this helps, but I think it's enough to flag a CONFIRM.

Thanks to Nate Graham for considering my demand and idea (sorting in Entries

I've suggested that idea because I thought the icons were sorted in the same
order of the entries page from system tray settings (as it is where we can set
the icons we want to always show or hide). But if the sorting can be
implemented directly in the system tray as an easier solution, that one is best
!

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.Open a tab in Dolphin.

[ksplash] [Bug 436140] New: Splash screen not correctly aligned with custom multiple monitor setup in X11

2021-04-24 Thread jz23
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436140

Bug ID: 436140
Summary: Splash screen not correctly aligned with custom
multiple monitor setup in X11
   Product: ksplash
   Version: 5.21.4
  Platform: openSUSE RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: h...@jz23.de
  Target Milestone: ---

I have a custom monitor setup with two different sized monitors. The default
order is small-left, large-right, but I manually swapped this setup in Plasma
(small-rightbottom, large-left). Everytime I log in, the splash screen is first
displayed correctly on both monitors, but after a second, the large monitor
shows the small splashscreen (with a gap) plus some pixels of a larger and the
small monitor parts of the large splashscreen (cropped). Apparently, ksplash
renders with the monitor arrangement from SDDM even after the new monitor
arrangement has been loaded.

Small monitor: 1920x1080
Large monitor: 2560x1440

Login from SDDM into Plasma X11 Session, happens every time. The bug does not
apply to Wayland session.

Try the current developer version of digiKam-7.3.0 from here:

All translations are affected (you can read the reason in the double bug
report), the Italian may have already been updated again. For the German
translation, I can say that it has been restored.

Currently, I see that key shortcuts bound to volume up and down change master
volume and reset everything else's volume to 100%. It would be good to be able
to bind different keys to specific volume up and downs (e.g., "Front",
"Surround", "Center", …)

SUMMARY

When having 100% volume, while going down, it actually starts decrementing from
94%, instead of 95% (assuming a 5% increment/decrement is used), however,
starting from 0%, it uses the correct value (that means 5, 10, 15, etc.)
