SUMMARY

Hi i am using Okular 1.3.3 on Ubuntu 18.04. I have a feature request that i
think will enhance users productivity while using Okular. Currently, when the
user creates a graphical object lets say an ellipse or an underline obect then
if he/she right clicks on that object then there is no "copy" option. Instead
i(user) can see only three options which are "open popup note", "delete" and
"properties". There should also be a copy option. After clicking on this "copy"
option the user can/should be able to press Ctrl+V or "paste" and then that
copied object should be pasted at that location. I am a regular user of Okular
and use it very very frequently. Sometimes i create a lot of objects. And
currently i have to create these object again and again, moreover the sizes of
these object differ. So i have to manually change their size. Instead i want to
be able to just copy and paste the object that i want.

So I've been making some progress on this bug, but there are a few problems.

First off, I've been seeing what Halla has been where the combobox is never
blank, and resets to the all tag when changing active storages. This reset to
all shouldn't happen though, imo, and I've begun fixing that particular issue.

So far, I've been able to get the selected tag to persist across resource
changes (good) but I have run into a problem where the resources that belong to
a tag don't accurately reflect active resources.

I was able to fix a related issue to this w/ bug 440315 where the
TagResourceModel wouldn't update on any of the drop down options until a tag
was assigned or removed. So I might be able to go about it the same way...

[valgrind] [Bug 440403] New: Some Arm64 CPU feature is masked when valgrind is running and can not run the memcheck

2021-07-29 Thread kevinz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440403

Bug ID: 440403
Summary: Some Arm64 CPU feature is masked when valgrind is
running and can not run the memcheck
   Product: valgrind
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: jsew...@acm.org
  Reporter: kevin.z...@linaro.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Background:
We are running PMDK on Arm64 for persistent memory operation. Now we meet an
issue for running test suites. PMDK needs to check if Arm64 supports CPU
feature: DCPOP, to decide to execute which CPU flushing command.

But with the commit: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381556, the CPU
features have been masked, so we can not detect the real CPU features such as
DCPOP. That will induce that we can not use cpu flushing cmd: "dc cvap" to
flushing the CPU, which break the persistent memory working flow.

Is there any potential fix for this? Since Permsist memory is more and more
important now, and memcheck for persist memory will be an important user
scenario for valgrind.

Does this mask still need now?

We are running PMDK(https://github.com/pmem/pmdk) test suite with Valgrind on

Now we find that with Valgrind some CPU features(here we need dcpop) is masked
due to this patch and that will induce the code always can not run the CPU
flushing code:

[plasma-systemmonitor] [Bug 440402] New: Add option to start collecting history data immediately

2021-07-29 Thread Alex
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440402

Bug ID: 440402
Summary: Add option to start collecting history data
immediately
   Product: plasma-systemmonitor
   Version: 5.22.4
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: wishlist
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ksysguard-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: alex...@protonmail.com
CC: ahiems...@heimr.nl, plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

I assume the reason systemmonitor doesn't already do this is for
performance/memory reasons. However, it would be nice to have an option to
enable this, because quite regularly I find myself trying to check something
that just happened to my system in the History graph, only for it to not have
been recorded because I hadn't opened the History tab since starting the app.

[plasmashell] [Bug 440401] New: [Wayland] Huge performance drop since 5.22.3

2021-07-29 Thread Charles Bouchard-Légaré
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440401

Bug ID: 440401
Summary: [Wayland] Huge performance drop since 5.22.3
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.22.3
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: generic-performance
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: cblegare@ntis.ca
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

Since the 5.22.3 (also in 5.22.4), overall performance significantly dropped to
the point the system is barely usable.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Use KDE Neon with Plasma 5.22.2
2. Update to a newer version
3. Observe very slow performances

OBSERVED RESULT

CPU usage and RAM usage look normal, but application are very slow to respond
and keyboard inputs are delayed in any application. Sound in video chat is
distorted because of lag.

EXPECTED RESULT

No major performance change when updating.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Operating System: KDE neon 5.22
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.3

Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-8665U CPU @ 1.90GHz
Memory: 15.3 Gio of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 620

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I am not sure what additional information I should provide, but will happily
get anything asked.

[krita] [Bug 440400] New: High priority of Canvas-Only mode floating message will hide more practically relevant floating messages such as zoom and rotation

2021-07-29 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440400

Bug ID: 440400
Summary: High priority of Canvas-Only mode floating message
will hide more practically relevant floating messages
such as zoom and rotation
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.4.5
  Platform: Appimage
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Usability
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tomtomtomreportin...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
For a short time after entering Canvas-Only mode, the floating message hint
will hide more practically relevant information from lesser priority floating
messages, such as zoom status. As the user becomes more experienced with Krita,
this hint becomes hindering to the user's workflow.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enter Canvas-Only mode by pressing Tab.
2. Zoom in swiftly after.

OBSERVED RESULT
Zoom status doesn't show up as the higher priority of the Canvas-Only hint
overrides it.

EXPECTED RESULT
It would be nice if there was an option to just disable this specfic floating
message from showing up, assuming lowering its priority isn't desirable.

SUMMARY
When using canvas inputs on the canvas shortly after using UI elements (such as
clicking a preset from the Brush Presets docker or closing the brush settings
popup), these inputs will often clash with the UI elements, making the user
unintentionally perform certain functions.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click a brush in the Brush Presets docker.
2. Move cursor over the canvas and press Tab swiftly after, attempting to enter
Canvas-Only Mode.
Observed result: The next brush preset in the docker is selected instead.

Another example:
1. Open brush settings popup.
2. Close brush settings popup.
3. Move cursor over the canvas and press Space swiftly after, attempting to pan
the canvas.
Observed result: The brush settings popup pops up again.

EXPECTED RESULT
Focus should immediately switch to the canvas.

Interesting. I did not get any dialog. However, I did get the following error
in terminal:

Couldn't start kuiserver from org.kde.kuiserver.service:
QDBusError("org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown", "The name
org.kde.kuiserver was not provided by any .service files")

Nothing in system logs however. I'm running Arch Linux, with i3 window manager.

Even then, I should not have to resort to dialog boxes in batch mode
(unattended). The exit code is still 0, even though there were some errors (ie.
one or more files failed to be extracted), and there is no error message in
stdout.

Does it not defeats the purpose of batch mode?

Opening taskbar entries.

On my desktop with Neon Testing, I have a monitor with Latte dock on primary

plasmoind in the Plasma panel (second monitor) responds to my keyboard

I think the UX is *tolerable* when using a mouse without a scroll wheel where
you can pick up the mouse and put it back down again as needed without removing
your finger from the left button.

The UX is totally un-ergonomic with a touchpad and makes no sense there. And if
your mouse has a scroll wheel, that's a much better UX as well.

I vote to remove the feature. And yes, I know that once we do, we'll find the 3
people in the world who use it and love it and curse our names and vow to hunt
us down in the middle of the night and kidnap our children and set fire to our
houses over it.

I'm getting the same issue when moving the mouse across the taskbar. And worse
yet, I can end up with remnants of glitched tooltips on-screen, not cleared
when you move the mouse away (https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=140014,
see 0:12).

I was also able to create a black graphical corruption on the left side of the
screen that flickered when I moved my mouse across the icons on the right of
the panel, but I was unable to record or reproduce that issue, and it
disappeared before I could launch a screen recorder. I did manage to record a
video of a corrupted tooltip icon, rendering in the wrong spot, scaled up from
its original size, and flickering
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uicwjFR3du8).

Quick update: Just after upgrading to Plasma 5.22.4, the same old behavior in
comment #4 was reproduced, so this behavior basically did not change between
5.22.3 and 5.22.4, at least for me. Journal logs are similar to the above
comments, so I won't post them to prevent flooding the ticket with logs.

This really needs to be looked at by KDE developers because it's getting old
having to reboot my system twice every single time I get Plasma updated.

Bug ID: 440397
Summary: KDE crashes on launch with Wayland and NVidia

SUMMARY
KDE crashes on launch when trying to use Wayland; it may not be able to find a
display? Though that's only a guess from the log.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run `XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland sudo dbus-run-session startplasma-wayland`
from terminal
or
1. Choose "Plasma (Wayland)" in LightDM.
2. Login

OBSERVED RESULT

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Arch 5.13.5
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.22.4-1
KDE Frameworks Version: N/A? Not sure where to find this
Qt Version: 5.15.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I also have (as following the instructions at
https://community.kde.org/Plasma/Wayland/Nvidia):
egl-wayland 1.1.7-1 installed

and the kernel parameter nvidia-drm.modeset=1, confirmed by `cat
/sys/module/nvidia_drm/parameters/modeset` producing `Y`.
I'm using the `nvidia-dkms 470.57.02-3` drivers, with a NVidia GeForce 1070M
Mobile Max-Q

Other users appear to have similar problems at
https://forum.manjaro.org/t/wayland-session-not-working/73886/4 and
https://forum.artixlinux.org/index.php/topic,2880.msg18776.html

Plasma Wayland launches just fine nested by running `dbus-run-session
startplasma-wayland` from within an X11 session.

[krita] [Bug 440169] Painting with brushes on canvas slow and unresponsive compared to scratchpad in brush settings

2021-07-29 Thread Michał Staruch
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440169

(In reply to Dmitry Kazakov from comment #1)
> Hi, Michal!
>
> What drawing tablet do you use for this test?

Just a mouse - I was simply comparing responsiveness and smoothness of a few
painting applications using simple 1px hard pencil and no stabilizer.

Scratchpad in Krita works fine, but main canvas is... well, OK for a chess
player, but completely unable to handle techniques like scribble drawing - for
that you need to work in real-time, so it could feel like a real pencil.

Rendering graphics on canvas might be done at monitor refresh rate (usually
60-144 Hz, also depends on v-sync, tripple buffering, etc.), but processing
input events should be done independently, at input device rate (typically
500-1000 Hz, for a standard mouse) and absolutely NOT dropped - that dropped
intermediate mouse positions are probably root cause of shapes turning into
squares, instead of being nicely curved.

It's just a wild guess from this side, but... maybe in case of painting on
canvas rendering / v-sync interferes somehow with processing input events?

[plasmashell] [Bug 440396] New: Scrollbar derives its color from view background, often making it impossible to see

2021-07-29 Thread Manish Jain
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440396

Bug ID: 440396
Summary: Scrollbar derives its color from view background,
often making it impossible to see
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Theme - Breeze
  Assignee: visual-des...@kde.org
  Reporter: bourne.ident...@hotmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 140400
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=140400&action=edit
Scrollbar invisible in Konsole

I love KDE, but there is a problem with the Plasma shell that has surprisingly
unnoticed. There are two problems with the scrollbar. The Breeze themes don't
allow the user to set the scrollbar thickness, which is a problem because the
default scrollbar in Breeze is too narrow.

The second is that the scrollbar derives its color from the view background,
often making it impossible to see. I am attaching a screenshot in which Konsole
shows no scrollbar at all. To reproduce the problem, just run a command in
Konsole with very output (I ran `pacman -Syyu`).

Ideally, the scrollbar color should derive its color from the window background
or, even better, be independently tunable. For example, in the screenshot
referred, the scrollbar should have been brown -- the color of the Menu Bar.
