[digikam] [Bug 452008] Timestamp not updated when using File name timestamp

2022-03-28 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452008

--- Comment #4 from Maik Qualmann  ---
A note: The Time Adjust Tool is also available as a standalone tool in the Item
menu. It is more suitable for adjusting the time than in the BQM. In the
standalone tool there is also a preview of the resulting timestamp.

Seeing this on 5.24.3 on Fedora. Plasmashell was just using 10GB of memory,
restarting fixed it. Didn't have time to get a dump at the moment but if it
happens again I'll provide more info.

And also independently.
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Falkon Bookmarks
Type=Application
Icon=bookmark
Categories=Network;WebBrowser;
Comment=Histoey and bookmark manager
GenericName=Bookmark Manager
Exec=falkon-bookmarks %u
StartupWMClass=Falkon Bookmarks
MimeType=text/html;application/xhtml+xml;application/json;
Terminal=false

Once bookmarks grow and grow, it might raise the chances for Falkon to crash.

I'm writing this due to my experiences with a couple of major web browsers,
which still don't do so. Once they do, their performance would improve.

Falkon IS stable, unlike those mentioned.

Created attachment 147809

screenshot :: to-dos of "summary" -> Kontact

in the summary section, Pending To-dos, when I decide to show completed to-dos
with non-completed to-dos, always the list starts with "completed" ones.
In Korganizer there was an option that allow moving completed to-dos to the end
of the list. but in Kontact->summary, there is nothing.
In my opinion, it is essential to add this option to the summary, because the
summary would show the most important works and to-dos! I'm sure that completed
to-dos are less important than uncompleted to-dos.

SUMMARY
Unlike SumatraPDF, Okular can't rename an open PDF file if you click F2 on your
keyboard.
This is a nifty little feature that lets you view a document and rename it to a
more human readable form (since PDFs usually come with horrible machine
generated file names).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a PDF in Okular.
2. Click F2

OBSERVED RESULT
1. No rename dialog comes up.

EXPECTED RESULT
1. A rename dialog pops up that lets you rename the currently open file.

Yeah, but I don't really use it.
>From backtrace can see that KTP runner waits on QBus which obviously causes
this slowdown, but that's just one potential culprit. I would say the real
issue is that it blocks UI while loading runners at
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/krunner/-/blob/master/src/runnermanager.cpp#L968
which very likely is slow.

applets/margins-separator: make smaller normally, and more visible in Edit mode

Margin separator by default has a large width which may not be desirable always
and it is also not directly related to its core functionality. Now it takes up
only 1px of space (the minimum amount) outside of Edit Mode, but expands and
becomes more visually obvious in Edit Mode.

--- Comment #2 from Nate Graham  ---
Git commit f4e032087a652ca61ec7dfe4d1b5f1725c150d53 by Nate Graham, on behalf
of Tanbir Jishan.
Committed on 29/03/2022 at 01:17.
Pushed by ngraham into branch 'master'.

applets/margins-separator: make smaller normally, and more visible in Edit mode

Margin separator by default has a large width which may not be desirable always
and it is also not directly related to its core functionality. Now it takes up
only 1px of space (the minimum amount) outside of Edit Mode, but expands and
becomes more visually obvious in Edit Mode.
Related: bug 433475

Then it shouldn't have had a crash log in it and been report against Plasma.

Please file a new bug report for the DrKonqi configuration issue. We use
separate bug reports to report separate issues in KDE; see

This ticket was not intended to report the crash, it was intended to report the

[systemsettings] [Bug 451967] Actually applied accent colour is a lightened/darkened version of what you actually chose

2022-03-28 Thread Alistair Buxton
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451967

--- Comment #2 from Alistair Buxton  ---
Yes, what is happening is that the accent colour is being blended with the
normal background to create the selected background. This leads to light themes
looking washed out and dark themes looking muddy. What should actually (imo)
happen is that the accent colour should be used directly for selected item
backgrounds, and the other colours should be created dynamically. Currently the
accent colour seems to be used unmodified only for hyperlinks which (again,
imo) should always be blue or purple.

[valgrind] [Bug 451837] When profiling this specific executable, valgrind fails to break down 0x62 0xF1 0x7F 0x28 0x7F 0x2 0xF 0x87 0x95 0xA1 into 2 separate instructions

2022-03-28 Thread Tom Hughes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451837

--- Comment #6 from Tom Hughes  ---
That looks the same to me if you ignore the extra bytes. The valgrind decoder
doesn't know how long the instruction is (because it doesn't understand it) so
it just dumps enough bytes to guarantee getting the whole thing.

David, could you get in the habit of reporting bugs against what you think is
the correct component, instead of the generic "kde" component? Your guess might
not always be right and it will have to be moved somewhere else, but that
*always* happens for bugs filed in "kde." :) In this case "plasmashell | Media

Environment variables are still broken, though they are suggested by the editor

So either the editor must write the correct prefix into the file as:

Sorry for the delayed reply. The name of the package is
"qml-module-org-kde-quickcharts". I can confirm that it was installed at the
time I reported this issue, as I had checked with Synaptic.

The issue seems to have been fixed already, because it was gone after I updated

Committed on 28/03/2022 at 20:17.
Pushed by aacid into branch 'release/22.04'.

Fix opening CHM files on Windows

This is part of 451985 the other part is that KF5.91 windows build of
khtml was broken, seems the 5.92 one is good, so once we release 22.04.0
it should be all good hopefully.

[kwin] [Bug 435114] redraw glitches over whole desktop with effects on

I'm still waiting to Kubuntu 22.04 to ship a more recent version of KWIN

kwin-data/impish,impish,now 4:5.22.5-0ubuntu1 all  [installiert]
...

As for this bug, at least it got a whole lot better, so I don't see this
anymore with KDE apps.

Still, TV-Browser has some issues with the "darken parent effect" for it's
subdialogs of subdialogs. For the first layer of dialog it does not darken the
parent at all!

After closing a dialog in the 3rd or 4th layer, it suddenly redraws the
"fading" darkness over the main-parent about 10 times interleaving with 10
times drawing the non-darkened parents. After this automatic fire stops, it
might trigger a few more times by moving the mouse and hovering different
mouse-over effects of buttons/checkboxes.

Also characteristic for this is, that this flaking darkness does not fully
cover the parent window, but only a bunch of arbitrary rectangles. I can only
assume, that the java-code is not quick enough to draw the GUI for every fading
increment? Or Java uses some low-level access to put it's bits into the
screen-buffer at it's own sweet time?

At least the darkness is lifted completely once I return to the main window,
unlike bug 450350, where the "darkness" lives on it's own :)

As seen at the end of the log, this is about the unhandled (=unknown to
Valgrind) instruction vmovdqu8.
So this is not specific to Callgrind, but about supporting the instruction in
Valgrind in general.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVX-512, this is from the AVX512 ISA
extension.
Valgrind does not (yet) support AVX512, so this is expected.

Your executable seems to unconditionally assume to run on a processor with
AVX512.
It first should check with CPUID if the processor supports AVX512 before using
the instruction.
Then it would find out that the virtual Valgrind CPU does not support it and so
the code has
to use a code variant not using AVX512... (you can ask the compiler to add such
checks).
