https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455362 --- Comment #3 from CUI Hao --- I can confirm Gwenview and possibly other Qt programs crashes at the same place when copying image data. I reproduced the bug using this very simple Qt program: ``` int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { QApplication a(argc, argv); MainWindow w; auto clipboard = QApplication::clipboard(); auto data = new QMimeData(); QPixmap pixmap(128, 128); pixmap.fill(); auto image = pixmap.toImage(); data->setImageData(image); clipboard->setMimeData(data); w.show(); return a.exec(); } ``` The error happens in QEventLoop. [kalarm] [Bug 455377] New: Akonadi/Kalarm Constant Disk Access & High CPU Usage + Creates 700,000 Files
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455377 Bug ID: 455377 Summary: Akonadi/Kalarm Constant Disk Access & High CPU Usage + Creates 700,000 Files Product: kalarm Version: 2.13.0 Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: Akonadi Assignee: djar...@kde.org Reporter: ubu...@ozzyfrank.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY *** After noticing my HD light blinking for no apparent reason, I ran *top* in the terminal, which revealed 2 *akonadi_kalarm_* processes using 25% CPU each, and figured this was either reading from or writing to disk (turns out it was creating a file every second or two). After finding no info on this in regards to Kalarm online, I found many experiencing a similar thing with Akonadi & Kmail, so implemented what I learned from those, as well as what I discovered myself (the following is as succinct as possible, while still giving as much info as I can): After halting Akonadi with *akonadictl stop*, then restarting with *akonadictl start*, the output - which kept repeating in an endless loop - was: org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Error while handling command ModifyItems on connection akonadi_kalarm_resource_1 (0x55c03dbecdd0) KAlarmResourceCommon::setCollectionCompatibility: 14 -> QFlags(0x2) 0 KAlarmResourceCommon::modifyCollectionJobDone The hash has changed. The hash has changed. KAlarmResourceCommon::setCollectionCompatibility: 26 -> QFlags(0x2) 0 KAlarmResourceCommon::modifyCollectionJobDone The hash has changed. The hash has changed. Ascertaining that the full name of the process show in *top* was *akonadi_kalarm_resource_1*, I stopped Akonadi, looked in ~/.config/akonadi and found the file *agent_config_akonadi_kalarm_resource_1_changes.dat*, renamed it, restarted Akonadi, and that seemed to fix it - the terminal output wasn't looping, and HD light wasn't blinking. However, after a restart, it was back to that behaviour, and while that "fix" worked again, since then it doesn't. Looking online I found mention of deleting ~/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf being a fix - that worked once, but after a reboot that did nothing - back to constant disk access. While looking in ~/.local/share/ I noticed 2 folders next to the *akonadi* one - *akonadi_kalarm_resource_1* and *akonadi_kalarm_resource_5* - both containing just under 350,000 files (Properties showing each took up 1.6Gb/2.9Gb on disk). Since I could not open either folder due to the amount of files, running *dir* revealed many thousands of files all with names like *expired.ics-99500* numbered sequentially. After quitting Kalarm I deleted those folders (I'm now in the middle of a 2h40m process to delete the 699,000 files!), restarted Kalarm, and both those folders were recreated, and immediately 4.7k files started being created in each, named *expired.ics-1* upwards (it took only a few seconds for it to create 25 files). So the hard-drive activity was a constant creation of files, simultaneously in both those folders, which is endless if Akonadi is running. And that is needed for Kalarm to function. Since neither fix worked any more, I installed *akonadiconsole* to see if that could help. Indeed Akonadi Console revealed that *akonadi_kalarm_resource_1* is "kalarm" and that *akonadi_kalarm_resource_5* is "Archived Alarms". While "kalarm" showed *Ready*, with *Type: KAlarm Directory* and *Status: Online, Idle*, "Archived Alarms" (*Type: KAlarm Calendar File*) was constantly moving from *Ready* to another state (it was too quick to see, but I think it mentioned "synchronising"). Right-clicking that agent I saw I could "Abort Activity", but thought I would try "Restart Agent", and that worked - "Archived Alarms" now sits quietly on *Ready*, disk activity has stopped, and I can confirm the files are no longer being created in either folder. Obviously this is going to start all over again after a reboot, and while I am hoping Akonadi Console can at least help me stop this, it's obvious this is a pretty serious bug that needs to be ironed out. And I hope the above info is enough - if not, let me know what info I can supply. And if anyone knows how to actually FIX this once and for all, that info would be most welcome! PS: In the "Component Description" on this page I see "Bugs which apply only to the Akonadi version of KAlarm". As far as I can see, Kalarm NEEDS Akonadi, but if there is actually a version which doesn't, then please direct me to it! I don't use Kmail or any other Akonadi app, only Kalarm, so would prefer to use a version that doesn't need Akonadi. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Restart system or Kalarm and it is back to this behaviour. OBSERVED RESULT Endless creation of files named expired.ics- in folders ~/.local/share/ akonadi_kalarm_resource_1 and ~/.local/share/ akonadi_kalarm_resource_5 (4.7k files created every secon

The menu is also missing in your typical app launcher widget. However, Okular seems to still correctly track these, so I suspect it's something to do with how plasmashell calculates which recent files are relevant, based on the .desktop MimeTypes. For example, Okular's main .desktop file only lists "application/vnd.kde.okular-archive". Note: I mention Okular a lot in this bug report, but this might apply to other applications too. It's just the easiest to reproduce with :-) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open a couple of PDF's in Okular. 2. Notice how they are recorded correctly in Okular itself, and inside of the "Recent Files" menu located in any other Plasma widget. 3. The same menu (for relevant Okular documents) seem to be missing. OBSERVED RESULT No recent files can be found when right-clicking Okular. EXPECTED RESULT The relevant document types associated with Okular should show up, but no "Recent Files" menu even appears. [krita] [Bug 455349] Resize canvas messes up animated transform mask

Committed on 16/06/2022 at 03:17. Pushed by eoinoneill into branch 'master'. Animated Transforms now respect cropping translations. NOTE: I'm not happy with how the translation is working as a whole with transform masks after cropping. E.G. In Alvin's test image, the circle drawn is roughly 512px units into the canvas. By that logic, cropping the image should actually move the existing transform keys to near 0 value. However, the actual translation is by roughly 3000 units. This looks correct visually, but the coordinates make no sense. I'll file this as a separate bug. It's not **majorly** important, but it would be nice to have logical coordinates for a transformation masks. I think this bug is there on the base transformation mask, but isn't easily noticable until you have an animated transform mask on where the translation values suddenly matter more. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454296 Tiernan Hubble changed: What|Removed |Added CC||thubble+kdeb...@thubble.ca --- Comment #16 from Tiernan Hubble --- Created attachment 149771 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=149771&action=edit Fix Present Windows not working in 5.25 (0.10 branch) It needed one more change to properly support 5.25 Window View. The original change correctly implemented the call to Window View, but there was code that detected whether Present Windows was enabled (which it won't be, in 5.25) and swallowed the left click before it ever got to the Present Windows call. I attached a simple 1-line patch (against the latest 0.10 git branch) to correctly detect 5.25 Window View and allow the call to proceed. I'm not currently set up to submit MRs for Latte Dock, plus I'm not sure if there's a better way to implement that check - the nested conditionals are getting a bit convoluted. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Oh that's a good systemd-compatible alternative method. Unfortunately its user-specific and not selectable (current userbase method of having a separate xsession allows selection during login). So a bit less flexibility. Ok, it seems that the plasma-workspace hack seems to improve things, but the qt-hack doesn't. For that "primary display" feature: I do not understand: the control panel is always located on the "non-primary" monitor. Desktop icons are always located on the "primary" monitor. What is the reasoning behind? What exactly is meant by "primary monitor"? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[amarok] [Bug 455371] New: CD Reports 0 Tracks in Amarok
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455371 Bug ID: 455371 Summary: CD Reports 0 Tracks in Amarok Product: amarok Version: 2.9.71 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Collections/CD Assignee: amarok-bugs-d...@kde.org Reporter: rdragonr...@gmail.com Target Milestone: kf5 Created attachment 149769 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=149769&action=edit Run log of Amarok not detecting CD tracks SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** I've bought some CDs, and I was trying to put them on my MP3 player. However, Amarok, while it detects the presence of a CD, can't seem to actually find the tracks. Other ripping tools will display the presence of tracks, although of those, at this point, only SoundJuicer appears able to get metadata. I've also tried several CDs by different artists, etc. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Insert a CD with Amarok open 2. Look at the media entry for the CD 3. It says there are 0 tracks on the CD, and it can't be played or ripped. OBSERVED RESULT 0 tracks are listed for the CD. EXPECTED RESULT I was expecting the appropriate number of tracks. Qt: 5.12.8 KDE Frameworks: 5.68.0 kf5-config: 1.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I am using the PGomes PPA for my Amarok build, but this bug was also present with the official package in Ubuntu 18.04 as well. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 455231] Task manager window thumbnails missing on x11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455231 --- Comment #11 from Nate Graham --- I agree. Of course someone needs to write write those tests or perform them manually. :) Effort doesn't appear out of thin air; people work on stuff that they either feel passionate about or are paid to work on. At this point, most of the passion and money that I see are in the direction of Wayland, rightly or wrongly. So if folks want to see more and better maintenance of the X11 session, it will require a similar injection of passion or money. The fact that KWin dying takes your apps is indeed quite unpleasant and makes it not prodution-ready, but you may be happy to hear that it's been an active area of work for over two years. The extended timeframe on this is because it turns out to be extraordinarily difficult to do--as perhaps evidenced by the fact that we never got this for the X11 display server. To this day it still takes all of your apps with it when it crashes or gets killed. Of course you may say that KWin is more likely to crash than Xorg is, and today that's probably true. But I hear horror stories from long-time FOSS users that the X server wasn't always a rock of stability either. :) Things get better over time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
