[kleopatra] [Bug 457058] Keyserver not functioning

2022-07-23 Thread Justin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457058

It would seem Kleopatra lookup is not working at all.
Using the command line, hkps://keys.openpgp.org and hkps://pgp.mailbox.org work
- but hkps://pool.sks-keyservers.net does not.
The Kleopatra lookup returns nothing.

[KScreen] [Bug 457060] New: [Wayland] Cannot adjust second monitor resolution if application is fullscreen

2022-07-23 Thread David Korth
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457060

Bug ID: 457060
Summary: [Wayland] Cannot adjust second monitor resolution if
application is fullscreen
   Product: KScreen
   Version: 5.25.3
  Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common
  Assignee: kscreen-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: gerbils...@gerbilsoft.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Assume the following display setup:
1. Laptop with 1366x768 LCD
2. TV connected using HDMI at 1280x720
3. mpv running full-screen on the TV

Attempting to set the TV resolution to 1920x1080 results in nothing happening,
though Display Configuration appears to have been successful. Un-fullscreening
mpv and trying this again works without any issues.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Run mpv fullscreen on the second monitor.
2. Use Display Configuration to change the second monitor's display resolution.

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens, though Display Configuration acts like it was successful.

EXPECTED RESULT
Second monitor should change resolution.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Kernel 5.18.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.96.0
Qt Version: 5.15.5

Not sure if this is Wayland-specific or if it happens on X11 as well.

I was not able to reproduce this (latest master on Ubuntu). Did you choose to
Cancel or Transcode when offered? Both options seem to dismiss the dialog
without doing anything.

There does seem like a potential improvement here. Kdenlive doesn't seem to
know that it's a jpeg without the extension, but it does print this message:

=== GOT DROPPED MIME:  "image/jpeg"

So something knows that it's a jpeg and Kdenlive can probably use that
information.

IGNORE WHAT I WROTE PREVIOUSLY, IT WAS INCORRECT (I had the flatpak version
installed which is why deleting those files did nothing)

When I tested it again after deleting the files in
~/.local/share/stalefiles/kwordquiz it works again.
So kwordquiz is not handling the lock files correctly for some reason.

Deleting all the files in ~/.local/share/stalefiles/kwordquiz doesn't fix the
problem. It gives the "File is not readable" when trying to open the .kvtml
file the first time then outputting "The File is locked by another process"
when opening the same file the second time

Manually adding: auto-key-locate keyserver keyserver-URL hkps://pgp.mailbox.org
into the gpg.conf file appears to work in getting the signature to verify but
then when opening Kleopatra it presents itself in setup mode. All certificates
are gone. Removing/commenting the auto-key-locate line returns Kleopatra to the
previous state with certs showing again.

Bug ID: 457058
   Summary: Keyserver not functioning

  Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal

SUMMARY
***
Keyserver added to settings has no effect
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to Settings - Configure Kleopatra - Directory services
2. Add Keyservers to OpenPGP Keyserver field: hkps://pgp.mailbox.org,
hkps://pool.sks-keyservers.net
3. Apply, close out Kleopatra and Kmail
4. Open Kmail and navigate to signed email received from Mailbox.org

OBSERVED RESULT
Kmail recognises that it is a GPG signed email but presents the following:
Message was signed on 23/7/22 2:21 AM with unknown key 0x6F823A8C655EDCC6.
The validity of the signature cannot be verified.
Status: No public key to verify the signature

EXPECTED RESULT
I expect Kmail to use Kleopatra and the added keyserver from Mailbox.org to
automatically verify the signature.
nb. In Kmail security both attempt decryption and automatic import are ticked
on.
Thanks.

[okular] [Bug 457057] New: inconsistency in polish translation of the keyboard shortcut description

2022-07-23 Thread ktp
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457057

Bug ID: 457057
Summary: inconsistency in polish translation of the keyboard
shortcut description
   Product: okular
   Version: 22.04.3
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: okular-de...@kde.org
  Reporter: ktpreze...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug
symbols.
See
https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open the menu: "Przejdź" (in polish) / "Goto" (in english)
2. observe the keyboard shortcut description attached to the action: "Początek
dokumentu" (in polish) / "Beginning of the document (in english)
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
"Ctrl+Katalog domowy"

EXPECTED RESULT
"Ctrl+Home"

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Current translation of the english text "Ctrl+Home" into polish version:
"Ctrl+Katalog domowy" doesn't match the context.

In some cases the english term "Home" corresponds to polish "Katalog domowy"
(strict translation of "Home Directory"),
but here, the "Home" is the proper name of the keyboard key, and shouldn't be
translated - exactly as it already is presented on the help page:
https://docs.kde.org/stable5/pl/okular/okular/menugo.html

kind regards

Ok, it doesn't happen when I systemctl suspend from the desktop of weston.
Rebooted from terminal while on weston, laptop rebooted to the lock screen, I
didn't sign in, I closed the lid, waited a while, and opened it to a black
screen. Does it have anything to do with SDDM not liking anything
Wayland/weston?

[FIX] Unable to remove manually added wallpaper

It's not necessary to assign m_removableWallpapers asynchronously, because the
value assigned to it doesn't depend on the result of that asynch function.

!!! This MR is for the Plasma/5.25 branch only and it SHOULD NOT be
cherry-picket into the master branch.

[Haruna] [Bug 456482] hardware decoding doesn't work

2022-07-23 Thread Nick Korotysh
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456482

I got h/w decoding (vaapi in particular case) working on X11!
but mentioned change seems to be vital in any case, "display" variable must be
passed as one of mpv initialization parameters.

all I did - just set environment variable `QT_XCB_GL_INTEGRATION` to "xcb_egl":
```
export QT_XCB_GL_INTEGRATION="xcb_egl"
```
this was based on comment on GitHub you pointed (it says that EGL context is
required for mpv) and this particular piece of Qt code
https://github.com/qt/qtbase/blob/231d3670981a33ec42b91ad1cb33c1fc50551066/src/plugins/platforms/xcb/qxcbconnection.cpp#L1079-L1104

first of all I viewed which GL libraries are loaded by application. I was
surprised to see both 'libGLX.so' and 'libEGL.so'. but when looked closer (and
analyzed 'SMPlayer'+'mpv') found the difference - Qt applications also load
'libGLX_mesa.so' (very likely real OpenGL implementation) and mpv loads
'libEGL_mesa.so' instead. I already knew that Qt on X11 uses so-called 'xcb'
platform plugin and it has something called "GL integration", and 2 "backends"
are provided for that (exactly GLX and EGL), which very likely can be switched
on runtime somehow. I just went deep into Qt sources starting from
`QQuickFramebufferObject::Renderer::createFramebufferObject()` found in your
code.

P.S> please don't think that I know OpenGL specific on Linux, Qt Open GL
integration on something specific to mpv - I know neither of those! I just
familiar with Qt sources and its build process/dependencies on Linux and just
used information you provided.

so, I think issue can be marked as solved :) waiting new release in Debian
unstable repo :)

confirmed, compiled from master branch - vaapi works on Wayland, behavior is
the same as in SMPlayer on X11. thanks!

but unfortunately, Wayland is not an option for me - some necessary apps have
significant issues on it, also some parts (don't know exactly which) have
issues (artifacts around "minimize/maximize/close" button hints, around some
but not all context menus), and many icons are blurry when scaling (200%) is
enabled even fonts in the same places look fine (in many cases the same icons
are fine on X11).

thank you for your work!

[Discover] [Bug 401304] maybe inhibit suspend during updates

Geez yes. I stopped using Discover for updates, because suspend halts the
download in midstream (almost every time given how slow my connection is),
sometimes halts installation, and then I have to use the CLI to make it finish
anyway. Please, give us an option to NOT SUSPEND AT ALL until the whole update
process is finished.

[To be fair, I have the same issue with Synaptic. Is there any way to intercept
"software installation" and make it NOT SUSPEND regardless of which software
manager is in use?]

[Haruna] [Bug 456482] hardware decoding doesn't work

2022-07-23 Thread Nick Korotysh
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456482

as I understood from the last comment on GitHub, the problem somewhere in
OpenGL context type which you get from Qt and pass to libmpv, very sad... from
my experience, it looks like Qt even may use OpenGL ES 2.0 (like on mobiles!)
even on desktop, but I can be wrong... I almost don't have experience with
OpenGL, just "touched" it due to work.

also tried to run Haruna on Wayland - situation the same: any option except
auto seems to use software decoding (very high CPU usage), auto option very
likely uses the same generic GL/shaders implementation (CPU load is pretty low,
but more than twice higher comparing when vaapi is used, GPU load is also
pretty high, about twice more comparing to vaapi). so it is also doesn't work
on Wayland too...

for the sake of experiment, tried already mentioned SMPlayer (Qt, mpv-based)
and Celluloid (GTK3, libmpv-based) on Wayland. so, SMPlayer is unusable on
Wayland - in most cases video plays in separate window or hardware decoding
doesn't work (when I got video in the same window) or just no video at all.
from other side, Celluloid works fine, even with exactly the same options what
was set in X11 environment, and vaapi seems to work correctly (almost no CPU
usage, and GPU usage is comparable to SMPlayer in X11 environment). looks like
GTK has much better support/integration with Linux rather than Qt...

so, as so this bug seems not related to application side (unfortunately Qt may
be the reason of it), feel free to close it.

[lattedock] [Bug 457054] New: Panel transparency is buggy

2022-07-23 Thread guto
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457054

Bug ID: 457054
   Summary: Panel transparency is buggy
   Product: lattedock
   Version: 0.10.8
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: application
  Assignee: mvourla...@gmail.com
  Reporter: talesto...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
I use Latte panels in both monitors of my Manjaro installation. Since some
updates, Latte panel transparency is not working as intended anymore. I want
the panels to be transparent and become opaque when a window touches them. I
select all four options in the bottom of "Appearance" and even so the panel
doesn't get transparent straightforward. Only if I change its position (say
from the top to the bottom), it becomes transparent and behaves as expected
(opaque when a window touches it). However, when I log out and in again, good
behaviour is gone. Sometimes one or both of the panels maintain transparency,
but this is rare (and as far as I can notice, random). The standard behaviour
is logging in opaque.

I use a laptop in a docking station connected to two monitors.

It used to work just fine before. Now it behaves consistently this way even if
new users are created and a new Latte configuration is made from scratch.

Now I've just formatted another laptop which is connected to a second monitor,
installed Manjaro and Latte Dock, and I have the same problematic behaviour in
this laptop as well.

***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create new user (no folder in “home” before)
2. Create panels from scratch with 100% background
3. Select all options for transparency w/ minimised windows (4 options in the
bottom of "Appearance")
4. Panels don’t become transparent
5. Change their position (e.g., from top to bottom)
6. Panels become transparent. If a window touches them, they become opaque
7. Change their position back (to the top)
8. Panels remain transparent. If a window touches them, they become opaque
9. Log out
10. Log in
11. Panels are not transparent anymore (most of the times)
12. Repeat 5 to 12

OBSERVED RESULT
Panel is not transparent most of the times after logging in.

EXPECTED RESULT
After logging in, panel should be transparent when no window is touching it and
only become opaque when a window touches it.

Seems to have been fixed as of the latest updates to Neon Unstable as I cannot
reproduce it anymore. Maybe it was caused by the same thing that caused bug
438178 since both bugs seem to have been fixed around the same time. I'm
marking it as Resolved Fixed.

[kwin] [Bug 457053] New: Blur does not get updated after resizing applet

2022-07-23 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457053

Bug ID: 457053
Summary: Blur does not get updated after resizing applet
   Product: kwin
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: effects-various
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: guimarcalsi...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Created attachment 150856
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=150856=edit
Unblurred region

SUMMARY

If you resize an applet, the blur effect doesn't get updated as you resize.
This means you end up with an unblurred area on the applet until you close and
open it again. I can only reproduce this on Wayland as bug 457052 prevents me
from resizing applets on X11.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Resize an applet with the blur effect active

OBSERVED RESULT

The blur region is not updated while resizing, leaving an unblurred area on the
applet.

EXPECTED RESULT

Blur should be updated to match the new size of the applet.

SUMMARY

Now it's possible to resize applets on Plasma, but on X11 that doesn't seem to
be possible even though hovering the cursor over the borders of the applets
shows the resize cursor. Clicking and dragging has no effect in any of the
applets.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Be on an X11 session
2. Hover the mouse over the edge of an applet
3. Try to click and drag to resize

OBSERVED RESULT

Resize cursor shows up but no resizing takes place

EXPECTED RESULT

It should either resize as expected or, if this feature is exclusive to
Wayland, not show the resize cursor on an X11 session.

contains too long lines. When I look at the mail in the outbox I can confirm
this: the To: and CC: lines are no wrapped, instead all entries are put in a
very long line.

The hard limit for SMTP body lines is IIRC 1000 chars including the CRLF.

Icon positioning bug when switching activities

This has not been fixed in the latest plasma (5.23.3). Looking again, I think
it could be an issue with arranging icons when switching activities. When I
rearrange the icons in an activity, the other activity gets rearranged in such
a way where icons that are present in both activities get grouped in the
leftmost positions. I've attached another video demonstrating this.

desync
   Product: kwin
   Version: git master
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED

KWin - Peek at Desktop - desync

SUMMARY

Invoke «Peek at Desktop» effect repeatedly may cause desync between its
reported state and actual window positions. And when that happens (like, it's
reported to be active, but all windows are in place), activating it again would
make windows jump away to the edges of the screen and then animating back to
their positions normally.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0. Ensure there is a «Peek at Desktop» applet on your panel.
1. Keep pressing the shortcut for «Peek at Desktop», in my case it's Ctrl+F12
(for Shortcuts -> Plasma -> «Show Desktop» action in System Settings).

OBSERVED RESULT
«Peek at Desktop» applet has a focus line over it, indicating that the effect
is active, but windows are on screen.

EXPECTED RESULT
KWin should ensure windows are animating to their proper destination even if
the previous animation got interrupted.

[systemsettings] [Bug 456857] Drawing Tablet and Multi Monitor: Turning off the "Target Display" resets setting to "Follow the active screen", which is also not reflected in the KCM

2022-07-23 Thread postix

One more observation:
> Using the tablet shows that the setting is now "Follow the active screen".
> The KCM still reports "A" as the target display.

The apply button is disabled. Changing it to "Follow the active screen", leaves
the apply button disabled.
Changing it then back to "A" makes the apply button become active again.

(arch) Updated to 5.25.3.1-1 and this is still a problem.
It seems random when it happens though. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it gets
stuck with the unlock buttons that do nothing when clicked.
I suspect it's based on how long it has been locked. This seems to happen more
often if I leave the computer locked overnight.

I'm downgrading to 5.24 as suggested earlier. I rather have an "unsupported
system" than one I cannot unlock at all.

Hi Vlad, unfortunately I have to report, that your fix doesn't fully fix this
issue.

In order to reproduce, please shade some windows, and restart: kwin_x11
--replace.

The result here is, that windows a reduced to the tiniest size I ever saw for a
window (screenshot attached below).

I'm not allowed to reopen this issue.

[dolphin] [Bug 455513] Tiny icons in Dolphin tree and in menu dropdown

2022-07-23 Thread gianluca . pettinello
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455513

--- Comment #9 from gianluca.pettine...@gmail.com ---
Hello Nate,

I found the root cause:

it is in kstyle/breezestyle.cpp

***
//__
int Style::pixelMetric(PixelMetric metric, const QStyleOption *option, const
QWidget *widget) const
{
// handle special cases
switch (metric) {
case PM_MenuHMargin:
case PM_MenuVMargin:
return Metrics::MenuItem_HighlightGap;

// small icon size
case PM_SmallIconSize:
if (isTabletMode()) {
return 22;
} else {
return 16; //<-- here is the root cause
}
***

This override causes small icons to be insensitive to a change in size in
system settings.
I'm not a programmer but I think that forcing these numbers is not elegant.
I suggest to first read the size and then increase by one level for tablet mode
instead of fixing absolute values
What do you think?
Regards
Gianluca
