I don't think using Vendor, model and serial number is a solution, as both of
my monitors show the same identification in KDE screen configuration (Plasma
5.25.5):

HannStar Display Corp

I guess it means not all screens have a serial number in EDID data.

[konqueror] [Bug 460969] New: Could not find plugin kcm_cookies

2022-10-25 Thread John A. Bilicki III
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460969

Bug ID: 460969
Summary: Could not find plugin kcm_cookies
Classification: Applications
   Product: konqueror
   Version: 21.12.3
  Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: major
  Priority: NOR
 Component: kcookiejar
  Assignee: fa...@kde.org
  Reporter: jab_creati...@yahoo.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
I needed to clear cookies in Konquorer while testing the KHTML engine. I
received the error "Could not find plugin kcm_cookies" in the area of the
configuration window where it should have loaded.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Konquorer.
2. Go to the "Settings" file menu and then "Configure Konquorer...".
3. The cookie management panel's menu item should be under "History", it is
blank.

I just downloaded and installed the latest 64 bit ISO from the Kubuntu website
for the explicit purposes of testing out KHTML. Unfortunately deleting the
cookie on the server with the browser closed somehow manages to not reset the
session cookie. I also am not familiar with the KDE file system nor Konquorer's
profile location so I do not know how to manually delete the cookie in the file
system.

[digikam] [Bug 459160] Geolocation Editor maps don’t zoom enough

2022-10-25 Thread Maik Qualmann
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459160

I can now reproduce the problem here in Germany. It's the same problem as in
Bug 460775. The TLS error messages also appear in the log when trying to load
OpenStreetMap data. Since digiKam-7.9.0 works without problems under Windows10,
I suspect the cause is outdated Windows7, especially expired root CA
certificates. The Qt network manager uses the certificates present in the
system. I will make another attempt and load current root CA certificates into
digiKam, which we will also deliver. Otherwise, it means slowly separating from
the outdated Windows7.

Hi,

There is a setting to specify the size of the icon or even go back to having
vertical text:

Settings -> Configure Kate.. -> Behavior -> Sidebars -> Icon size & Show

If you do not want the plugins at all , I guess KWrite is the right tool for
you. But if you do want some plugins, you can save the session and then
open that session. The unnamed session enables these plugins...

Hmm I just saved a session with the name "Default" and that actually stores the
plugin settings.

Hope this helps,

[kwin] [Bug 460971] New: Desktop freeze (when changing between virtual desktops)

2022-10-25 Thread kdebuggy
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460971

Bug ID: 460971
Summary: Desktop freeze (when changing between virtual
desktops)
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.26.1
  Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: crash
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: 3809940...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Context:
- Problem started after upgrading to Kubuntu 22.10 with KDE 5.26.1
- I am using "Switch desktop on screen edges" to switch between virtual
desktops seamlessly
- Problem occurs randomly, I couldn't detect a pattern yet

Clues:
When system is working:
- After the update switching to other desktop sometimes stops. Mouse is stuck
at the edge of screen instead of continuing to the next virtual desktop. To fix
this, I have to first go to the opposite virtual desktop. Then it gets unstuck.
This never happened before the update.
- Freezing is not time dependent. System is stable as long as mouse is not
used.
- Freezing is not load dependent. I can play 3D games without freezing.

When system is frozen:
- Cursor can be moved but can not click on anything
- System is operating normally in the background when freeze occurs (encoding
jobs, downloads continue as usual)
- I can CTRL+ALT+F2 to a terminal (but only once) and run commands including
rebooting the computer

Things I tried without an effect:
- Disabling the Compositor
- Disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Switching between virtual desktops with mouse with the following settings-
"Switch desktop on screen edges" - ENABLED
"Activation delay" - DISABLED
"Reactivation delay" - 1000 ms

OBSERVED RESULT
At some random point you are stuck in the current desktop with GUI frozen as
described above

EXPECTED RESULT
System switches to the next desktop when mouse cursor passes the boundary

Does it make a difference if you 1. change the font size and 2. use the system

If no, it is a lack of support or a problem with the display of transaction in
the general ledger display that has been rebuilt in the master branch.

Consistency or lack thereof

The 'Type' column pulls its information from the attribute in
mimeinfo, however a lack of consensus on what the string format should be
results in the column featuring a jumbled amalgamation of everything.

Standardizing them would likely require maintaining a separate mimeinfo and
thus unfeasible, but it'd at least look a bit nicer if every row started with a
capital letter.

Git commit a1191bea1826ec779e017f98edf1f0473fff79dc by Vlad Zahorodnii, on
behalf of John Brooks.
Committed on 25/10/2022 at 08:18.
Pushed by vladz into branch 'master'.

wayland: Fix missing relative motion events

Use isNull on QSizeF to check for a zero delta instead of comparing it
with a default-constructed QSizeF, which in practice initializes to
(-1.0,-1.0). This caused relative motion events to be omitted if the
delta happened to be equal to (-1.0,-1.0), causing mouse jumping in some
applications.

So it's flippant between accounts, that doesn't mean the account has nothing to
do with it, but that it does! It means that display settings for each account
are saved per account, and whatever mechanism is saving them is screwing up. I
also have what I call a "Maintenance account" and I too logged into it to see
if the problem was with it too, and it worked fine. So just maybe if I log
back into it, it too is missing a monitor, and when I go back to this one I
will have two monitors again. If so then the developers may get a better idea
where to look, as something about the login process may have something to do
with it, or effect whatever the issue is.

I will try tomorrow: Dead tired now.

Git commit 3c07db610bf70796f612016c6c5354ca5c565ebd by Vlad Zahorodnii, on
behalf of John Brooks.
Committed on 25/10/2022 at 08:33.
Pushed by vladz into branch 'Plasma/5.26'.

wayland: Fix missing relative motion events

Use isNull on QSizeF to check for a zero delta instead of comparing it
with a default-constructed QSizeF, which in practice initializes to
(-1.0,-1.0). This caused relative motion events to be omitted if the
delta happened to be equal to (-1.0,-1.0), causing mouse jumping in some
applications.

[digikam] [Bug 459160] Geolocation Editor maps don’t zoom enough

2022-10-25 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459160

--- Comment #19 from caulier.gil...@gmail.com ---
Hi,

digiKam use Marble program internally (as a library) to deal with maps view.

Please install a stand alone version for Windows of Marble program to double
check.

Nothing is selected.
The same issue can be reproduced if instead of pressing "Return" key, you
select "Loop Timer" before starting it.

Afterwards I need to kill klockd to stop multiple alarm sounds.

Below is the output. I added comments within the output to show what I was
doing.

This persists for a while now (I guess since 2020 since this theme never
worked) and is not Wayland related.

[kscreenlocker] [Bug 460974] New: Black screen for a while if session unlocked during the "unlock without password" time

2022-10-25 Thread Iyán Méndez Veiga
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460974

Bug ID: 460974
Summary: Black screen for a while if session unlocked during
the "unlock without password" time
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kscreenlocker
   Version: 5.26.1
  Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: m...@iyanmv.com
CC: bhus...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Since Plasma 5.26, if I move the mouse or press a key when the session just got
automatically locked, the result is a black screen for a few seconds. After
that, the session is unlocked and everything works as expected. I can only
reproduce this issue with Wayland.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable "lock screen automatically"
2. Set a value, for example, 5 seconds to "Allow unlocking without password"
3. Wait till session is automatically locked
4. Move the mouse or press any key

OBSERVED RESULT
A black screen and unresponsive system for a few seconds (~10s).

EXPECTED RESULT
Same behavior as with previous versions of Plasma. System is immediately
unlocked and responsive.

I guess my assumption that an error should appear here is right since the code
in line 88 says:

Connections {
target: kcm
//...
function onShowErrorMessage() {
infoLabel.type = Kirigami.MessageType.Error;
infoLabel.text = message;
infoLabel.visible = true;
}
}

[plasmashell] [Bug 460975] New: Panel Spacers with flexible sizes take too much space shrinking the icon-only task manager

2022-10-25 Thread MitraX
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460975

Bug ID: 460975
Summary: Panel Spacers with flexible sizes take too much space
shrinking the icon-only task manager
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.26.0
  Platform: Neon
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Panel Spacer
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mit...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Created attachment 153189
  --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=153189&action=edit
Panel without panel spacers

SUMMARY

I'm trying to center icon-only task manager on a panel and the logic actually
works, but spacers take too much space and icons become shrink.

Note: The issue exists primarily on smaller laptop displays, but also on a
bigger desktop screens if you open enough applications (e.g. a lot of instances
of Konsole).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Add icon-only widget to a panel (if it's not already present)
2. Add the first panel spacer with flexible size before the Application
Launcher button
3. Add the second panel spacer with flexible size after the icon-only task
manager
4. Exit edit mode

OBSERVED RESULT

- Icons in icon-only task manager become shrink and panel spacers use all the
space on the panel. (see attachment:
panel-with-panel-spacers-filexible-size.png).

EXPECTED RESULT

- Icons in icon-only task manager are with the same size as before the spacers
are added.
- Panel spacers are wide just enough to center the icons properly without
impacting their size, as it's the case when no spacers are present (see
attachment: panel-without-panel-spacers.png).

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.26
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.99.0
Qt Version: 5.15.6

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Dragging the spacers around sometimes result with messed-up other widgets in
the panel (e.g. the Application Launcher goes after the icon-only task manager
instead of the panel.

[kmymoney] [Bug 460952] Ledger lens improvement

1. Increasing font size of Ms Shell Dlg 2 for both cell and header from 8.3 to
12 does not have any effect on the program. Even if KMyMoney is restarted, the
font is still small, probably the initial 8.3.
Changing Ms Shell Dlg 2 with another font does not produce any noticeable
results, and it should, since I choose Noto Mono, a monospace font. The
difference should be easily seen.

2. Checking "Use system fonts" does not do anything. Even if KMyMoney is
restarted.

This all happens in nightly builds of the master branch.

However, just tested "KMyMoney Version 5.1.3-261c598d3" out of curiosity. And I
have a monospace font in it. Which I set in a nightly build.
So both versions share the same config file. Nightly build writes them to the
file, but does not respect Configure > Font settings at all.

[systemsettings] [Bug 460943] Can't remove unusable plymouth theme

2022-10-25 Thread Malte S. Stretz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460943

I started digging a bit further and wrapped my head around how this is all
supposed to work. I /think/ (hard to tell without the actual error message)
that I run into this error:
https://github.com/KDE/plymouth-kcm/blob/v5.26.1/src/helper.cpp#L305

If I understand that code correctly then it does try to find a foo.plymouth
file directly within /usr/share/plymouth/themes/plymouthgrub_banksy -- that
directory exists but this theme seems to be "special" and the plymouth file
actually exists in a subdirectory:

> # find /usr/share/plymouth/themes/plymouthgrub_banksy -name '*.plymouth'
> /usr/share/plymouth/themes/plymouthgrub_banksy/banksy_plymouth/banksy_plymouth.plymouth

That's probably also why the install never worked properly. It looks like the
current ::install code would never have installed this theme due to that but
back in 2020 it probably did.

I guess the best way forward would be to check if any alternative is actually
registered in the theme directory via `update-alternatives --query
default.plymouth`. And only if that gives a result try to remove it.

And of course display an error message if something fails.

[systemsettings] [Bug 460943] Can't remove unusable plymouth theme

2022-10-25 Thread Malte S. Stretz
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460943

Correction to my last comment: I guess the current ::install code would still
install a broken theme because it is installed first and then the code looks
for a *.plymouth file in
https://github.com/KDE/plymouth-kcm/blame/v5.26.1/src/helper.cpp#L248 but that
variable is never used.

The update-alternatives code path will then silently fail since the error
message from
https://github.com/KDE/plymouth-kcm/blame/v5.26.1/src/helper.cpp#L259 is also
never displayed.

2022-10-25 Thread postix

Bug ID: 460978

Classification: Plasma

  Platform: OpenSUSE

Journalctl log

SUMMARY

Since updating from kernel 6.0.2 to 6.0.3 on openSUSE TW, KDE Plasma 5.26.1 X11
and Wayland fails to start, after logging in from SDDM:

* The cursor works, but no panel shows up, the desktop starts to freeze
(becomes gray after a while).
* Pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL opens the power-management overlay, where logging out
works
* Shutting down the computer does not work after having logged in once, but
takes infinitely long and requires a forced shut down

Going back to kernel 6.0.2 fixes the issue.

I first have reported it here now. Should I report it upstream to openSUSE
instead?

[yakuake] [Bug 447456] Wayland: Drop-down animation not working

2022-10-25 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=447456

--- Comment #10 from analoginterfa...@proton.me ---
I'm the reporter of Bug #45. I confirm now that this bug is solved. On the
latest 5.99 KDE Frameworks, and 22.08.2 (forgive me if I'm mistaken with
version numbers). Yakuake now properly slides in from the top on Wayland as on
X11 - as was always expected.

I'm really, really happy about this fix, in-fact was the only "wayland
showstopper" for me for two years now (on Fedora). Thanks a lot, I can't
appreciate this enough!

stayed at a very low memory footprint (< 100 MB). Since this affects at least

It does, though I don't really understand why. The configuration is not
particularly interesting, it is more or less a standard configuration allowing
only user key-based login (no passwords, no root login). Some forwarding and
some ClientAlive options are enabled. Some env vars are accepted. Nothing very
unusual I think, I've never had similar problems with other applications.

When launching apps via Overview, applications are started directly via
kwin_x11, which ends up setting QT_NO_GLIB=1 and QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb
environment variables for the child process. These variables disable GLIB event
loop, thus breaking some apps that depend on that, e.g. telegram-desktop or KDE
System Settings.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open System Settings via Krunner,
2. Go to Audio, notice that it works
3. Now open System Settings via Overview
4. Go to Audio, notice that it's empty

OBSERVED RESULT
Audio tab is not empty

EXPECTED RESULT
Audio tab is empty

i can confirm this happening on latest kde neon along with a few other funny
behaviors. note that i am using the "photoshop compatible" canvas input scheme
which is a lot more reliant on the alt key.

- holding the cursor still and pressing the alt key once will seemingly toggle
the brush outline to be hidden
- canvas inputs using the alt key will stop working if:
- while the outline is hidden (see above), you hold alt and left click
(invoke the color sampler)
- you press ctrl+alt on their own
- if you switch layers and press the alt key

i am not experiencing the same same issues on Windows 10

Git commit f3cc3ea33f59f627519956225a654cc7f73476e2 by ivan tkachenko.
Committed on 25/10/2022 at 11:55.
Pushed by ratijas into branch 'master'.

applets/kickoff: Reiterate on compact representation sizing code

All 4 min/max width/height expressions were combined into one property
block for deduplication and code locality. Some helper properties were
introduced, others removed as obsolete.

Compact icon now does not shrink to a size less than a panel's orthogonal
direction, such that is stays at least square or taller (in vertical) /
wider (in horizontal form factor).

Extra margins are added to the left and right of the label (if present)
instead of spacing between it and an icon. Otherwise text looks too
sticky to its neighboring widgets IMHO.

Test plan: check with and without icons, text on horizontal, vertical
panels and on a desktop; in every form factor use icons of different
aspect ratio: square, landscape, portrait, and an invalid one (can be
set to a valid, then move the icon file and restart plasmashell).

Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
Component: Task Manager and Icons-Only Task Manager
  Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: mit...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: 1.0

SUMMARY

If a user opens too many applications with unchecked "Fill free space on panel"
option of Icon-Only Task Manager with un-grouped items, widgets on the right
side are pushed out of display.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Open Icon-Only Task Manager settings
2. Deselect the option "Fill free space on panel" in the General tab
3. Choose option "Do not group" in the Behavior tab
3. Save changes
4. Open multiple applications one by one so their multiple icons are displayed
un-grouped on the panel (e.g. multiple instances of Konsole)

OBSERVED RESULT

If there's too many application icons on the panel, widgets on the right (e.g.
notifications, clock...) will be pushed out of screen while the size of the
icons in icon-only task manager remains unchanged.

EXPECTED RESULT

The icons in icon-only task manager should be resized while widgets on the
right side stay in place.
