When searching it gets cluttered real quick when wallpapers and various

For eg. I just searched for "Sunshine"

wallpapers.

On a vertical panel the timer displays a very large button and lost the ability
to change time by units larger than seconds without clicking.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Put a timer on a vertical panel.

OBSERVED RESULT
See the screenshot.

EXPECTED RESULT
The timer remaining time should be displayed as HH:MM:SS, and takes the

Scrolling on the digits should change the corresponding digits I am hovering.

Can I please add to this - the issue is actually worse than just slow previews.
The davfs2 cache is exhausted almost immediately for any moderately sized or
greater davfs2 share (when mounted via autofs or mount.davfs2), causing Dolphin
(etc) to crash and the network share to hang, and transfer speed is irrelevant
in this case.

Would it be possible to simply append numbers onto the names of monitors in the
order they are gathered from the OS for X?
I don't know where you're getting the information from for the monitor names,
but I assume there's some kind of query being made, and an array of strings is
being returned or objects with string properties, maybe just append the array
index value onto the string? With a +1 so it starts at 1 instead of 0.

 This change also broke WeChat running under Wine. The WeChat login window has
an application-drawn shadow surrounding its login window. When moving the login
window, the shadow doesn't follow the login window immediately and only updates
its position when moving is done. So the shadow window is detached when moving
and suddenly jumps to the new position after moving is finished.

[kwin] [Bug 461269] New: konsole mostly slow to display window on start

2022-10-31 Thread pablo
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=461269

Bug ID: 461269
   Summary: konsole mostly slow to display window on start
Classification: Plasma
   Product: kwin
   Version: 5.26.2
  Platform: OpenSUSE
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: wayland-generic
  Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org

WAYLAND_DEBUG with 2s start delay - search for /[ 532235.427]
wl_callb...@24.done(1214)/

SUMMARY
Hi,
Using konsole as a test case, there is a noticeable lag to display the window:

o At first start up
o After some period of time (e.g. a minute) between new window starts

I have captured some WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 output showing lag vs no lag.

This is an excerpt of the debug when I observed the a two second lag:

[ 532235.418] wl_drm@25.format(1448695129)
[ 532235.423] wl_drm@25.capabilities(1)
[ 532235.427] wl_callb...@24.done(1214)
#
# After running konsole in another window, the /tail -f/ paused above.
# No window was displayed for about two seconds.
#
[ 534388.338]  -> wl_display@1.get_registry(new id wl_registry@24)
[ 534388.428]  -> wl_disp...@1.sync(new id wl_callback@26)
[ 534391.580] wl_display@1.delete_id(26)
[ 534391.586] wl_registry@24.global(1, "wl_compositor", 5)

SET UP
1. Create a new Linux user whose shell is /bin/bash
2. Log in to the new user using Wayland

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Repeated make the following call, ctrl-D the new window to exit. To observe
the start delay, wait about 30 seconds between the calls:

   WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 konsole >> konsole.wayland_debug 2>&1

OBSERVED RESULT
When a new konsole window is started /shortly/ after a previously started
konsole window, there is no observable delay.

However, if there's a 30 second delay between calls, a start delay is observed.

EXPECTED RESULT
The windows should start immediately. As observed on X11.

SUMMARY
Today I found out (downloading images) .AVIF is a new (2019) image/video format
meeting International Standards Organization (ISO) and other specifications,
and has better compression than most/all other formats, so should KDE support
it for things like file managers & image viewers (or general library that would
work for all)?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Try to view/open an .AVIF in a file manager or image viewer/editor.

OBSERVED RESULT
.AVIF seems currently unsupported.

EXPECTED RESULT
Consider programming .AVIF support.

I've noticed, that the workaround is only for the current session. So when you
log off and on again, you have to execute the command again. To execute the
command when you log in, you can add a desktop entry in ~/.config/autostart
with the commands:
```bash
# apply for this session
setxkbmap -option keypad:pointerkeys;
# create desktop entry to apply it for every session in the future
echo -en "[Desktop Entry]\nExec=setxkbmap -option
keypad:pointerkeys\nType=Application\nX-KDE-AutostartScript=true" >
~/.config/autostart/keypad_pointerkeys.desktop
```

I guess this is just an unfortunate phrasing , so you mean the effect has no
effect? At least *adding* to master or track works for me. Nevertheless the
effect produced no effect in those cases also for me

ADDITION
Edge Crop also doesn't produce any effect on mlt-clips.

[plasmashell] [Bug 459120] Timer plasmoid does not scale large enough in panels

2022-10-31 Thread Alex
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459120

--- Comment #9 from Alex  ---
The problem is, that the (desktop) widget now needs to be much larger to have
the same size for the numbers. Maybe an option to hide the clock icon could be
added.
Another lost feature: When using the scroll wheel, it now increases only
seconds, disregarding if the cursor is above the minutes or hours counter. The
previous version could increase minutes/hours by scrolling at the right place,
and one could even increment by 10 minutes by using the mouse wheel over the
first digit of the minutes.

I'll open a new bug for these issues later.

Let me guess: you have "only when explicitly copied" checked? Does it start
working like you expect if you instead check "Always save in history"?

If so, I think the "only when explicitly copied" setting is broken and actually
controls synchronization, not whether the synchronized text is added to the
clipboard history.

Ah, that's more interesting! I'm not sure if it's related (this bug is caused
by the mask being smaller than the panel and that should not have any effect on
compositing off) but I can investigate. The mouse input stuff is for sure
unrelated though

Perhaps my wording wasn't particularly good on that one. When I say invisible,
I mean that the panel now has a 1px border of invisibility/full transparency.
I'll attach another screenshot in a bit. Basically like the existing
screenshots, but the panel itself is full black (in my case), and it all has a
1px border you can see the wallpaper through. Still not related? ;)

It's not a particularly funky coincidence considering that "this 1px border

Hello, I'm experiencing the exact same bug.

This is an old bug. I already struggled with this a few years ago.

I've hotfixed it by executing `setxkbmap -option keypad:pointerkeys` in a
terminal according to [this forum thread](
https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?t=106658#p247295 ). Then I was able to
disable and enable cursor navigation by pressing SHIFT + NumLock instead of
navigating to `systemsettings` » Accessibility » Cursor Navigation like
described in the bug report.

With compositing turned off, this 1px border also becomes entirely invisible
and, on top of that, does not capture input for the panel, allowing users to
click through. This can get pretty noticeable, because moving the mouse all the
way down to the bottom of the screen to click any button on the panel simply
does not work. So this has a functional impact, not just a cosmetic one.

How big has your index grown? You can check with

$ balooctl indexSize

Do you see the same happening with a simple:

$ mkdir ~/Testdir
$ cd ~/Testdir
$ for i in {1..5}; do echo "This is file $i" > file$i.txt; done

as used in Bug 437754?

Are you also deleting very many files as well as creating them?

Git commit 0499277cdd475705af9c41e45bb1b777eed737d1 by L. E. Segovia, on behalf
of Freya Lupen.
Committed on 31/10/2022 at 21:50.
Pushed by lsegovia into branch 'krita/5.1'.

Add .csv to list of mimetypes

The reason Krita could not open .csv files was because it
didn't recognize the format and tried to open them as plaintext files.
